A quaint little restaurant in Olde Town Bluffton. The bbq was excellent. We tried the pulled pork and the chicken. Both were tender with lots of flavor. The Brunswick Stew and the Sweet Potato Casserole sides deserve special recognition!!! The owner took our order and also delivered the food. He was very attentive and checked on us frequently. Came here while on a stay in nearby Hilton Head. Ordered the half rack a ribs, some pulled pork, cornbread, and Mac and cheese. The ribs were mouth watering and delicious. The flavors were boasting from this tack and I couldn't wait for my next piece. I was a little disappointed that the pulled pork, although cooked perfectly, had no taste to them. Had to drown in bbq sauce for taste. The cornbread was light and tasty and the Mac and cheese was good. I can't say enough about the customer attention because they were awesome. Don't know if this is a regular thing or because it was close to closing but the free mini coronas topped off my meal. Thank you. Place is small but held our group of 11 people. Bluffton BBQ is one of our favorite barbecue restaurants. We live in Tampa Florida and discovered it years ago during a stop leaving Hilton Head. Now whenever we drive up the East Coast - upon our return south, we time it to be able to pick up carry out at Bluffton barbecue and stay at a friend's local house. Recently, we called ahead for 2 pulled pork sandwiches that we would pick up literally as the restaurant was closing. Staff was amazing and held our sandwiches until I knocked on the door - even though they were sold out of most of their other barbecue items. This is a true gem and worth a stop! read more

I've been coming to Bluffton BBQ since 2017, and we are here yesterday with friends so it's time for a Yelp Review!! I was blessed to live in the Low Country from 2012-2020 and throughout all that time, Bluffton BBQ has to be my favorite BBQ joint. Located in beautiful Old Town Bluffton, they've been around for a few years and are always at the top of their game. I recommend making a day out of visiting this area and having your lunch or dinner here. There's a lot to do in this little coastal town! The menu hits all the right notes, with pulled pork, ribs, whole or half chickens, and a lot more. Their sides include Mac n cheese, collard greens, potato salad, and the best French fries on the planet. There are more options as well but you get the idea. Oh, their sweet tea is just right, but I think that's just a personal opinion, as everyone likes it different. The owners and staff are always nice to you, and your food always comes out promptly. Their outdoor patio is full of greenery and shade, making for a very pleasant experience. Come on over to Old Town Bluffton. Park your car and spend the day. The smell from a block away should be all the enticement you need to enter. Nothing like that charred/smoked meat smell to get your juices flowing. It's a small place with big flavors. A wall filled with celebrity photos and endorsements isn't necessarily assurance that the food justifies it. But in this case, yeah, it does. If you can't trust Rudy Giuliani when it comes to BBQ, who can you trust? (Don't answer that). We both got the half rack and 2 sides. If you like your ribs fall of the bone tender (I do), these are right up your alley. Seasoned perfectly with a side of sauce, these babies were delightful. Collard greens and potato salad were my choices and both were things I could eat far more of! My wife had the Mac and cheese and loved it. Can't wait to try some of their other items. One of the most enjoyable restaurant experiences I've ever had. When you first walk in, it's immediately clear where negative reviews come from. Between various hand written signs and scraps of paper insulting food items/people they don't care for in colorful language and the gritty decor, this current generation is bound to get offended. It's kind of a shock to the system in an area where so many places try so hard not to offend anyone, and if that's not something your ok with, I'd imagine regardless of food you'd write a poor review. Here's the deal though, this food is something else. We sat down after ordering 2 plates of pulled pork with various sides, at a weathered plastic table cloth table, wondering if we made a huge mistake. Looking around, you'd be mistaken for thinking Ted, the Owner/Pitmaster doesn't care about you. So we were happily surprised when Ted came out to see how we enjoyed the food shortly after we started eating. It was easily the best pulled pork I've had anywhere. Multiple reviewers stated fries were top notch, they were. Coleslaw, Mac and cheese, you name it, it was handled equally well. So once we shared this with Ted, he quickly said "give me a minute, I'm gonna bring you a little tease of my ribs...if you like that pork, well, then my ribs are gonna piss you off". Although I was hardly confident I would react that way, once I got a bite of the ribs, I was in fact upset I didn't order them. I swear, I nearly glanced at the ribs and they fell off the bone. Ted wasn't satisfied though, because even after my enthusiastic reaction to the ribs, he insisted on bringing me some of his sweet potato side since I hadn't ordered it and once again, served only to frustrate me that I didn't order it to start with. All in all, Ted and his wife Donna, showed us they love good food, and they love to share it with others. By the time we threw our garbage away, careful not to throw the trays away (since there was a handwritten note above the can referring to customers who did this as a "dumb___") our stomachs were filled, and we met a couple who love what they do. The boyfriend and I came across Bluffton BBQ while we were driving through some small towns in South Carolina. If you're in the Carolinas, eating barbecue is a MUST, so we opted to try out Bluffton BBQ. This barbecue joint is honest from the start - they are not a restaurant; they are a barbecue joint. Popular food items tend to sell out quickly and the counter service adds to the casual ambiance that's peppered with snarky and sarcastic pictures and phrases. The interior was clean with wood and metal furniture and decor. However, the stools were pretty uncomfortable, but again - they are NOT a restaurant. My boyfriend and I split the Farmer Basturd platter so that we could sample the pulled pork, ribs and chicken with our chosen sides - seasoned fries and homemade coleslaw. It was a lot of food for a good price, but I wasn't too impressed with the taste. It was okay, but I wasn't wowed and had to add barbecue sauce to enhance the taste. It tasted like typical barbecue that I come across in my home state of Florida. My favorite meat was the chicken and my boyfriend's were the ribs, but he wasn't wowed either. However, the locals really love this place and they probably have a better barbecue pallet than I do, so I'd recommend giving this place a try. read more

The Smokey smell from the street lured me inside as I was looking for a lunch place to eat. I am from up North so Southern good is a treat for me. I ordered the 1/2 chicken plate with 2 sides. The greens were fresh and not bitter like some can be. The hand cut fries were delicious. I wish there was some pulled chicken but the floccor of the chicken was divine and it fell right off the bone. The place is super clean and the staff was friendly and pleasant! Tried Bluffton BBQ for the first time tonight. I had heard about this dish called Brunswick Stew. It was featured on the food network at a BBQ place in Savannah. It was described as a thick meat filled stew with all kind of other additions, including beans, okra, corn and other items. It had beef, chicken and pork in it. The good....The Brunswick stew at Bluffton BBQ was very tasty and seasoned well. It included most of the items listed above. The bad.... Couldn't find anything in the stew that resembled meat. The addition of meat would have made it awesome. Hopefully, the owners will see this review and make the change. I will keep searching for Brunswick stew. read more

Walked in on Saturday around lunch expecting a very OK bbq experience as is standard around the bluffton/Beaufort area but was pleasantly surprised by a great rack of ribs and hot/juicy pulled pork sandwich. They put the sandwich on Grilled toast with a slice of tomato so that's a nice change of pace from North Carolina. You can tell straight away that the quality of the meat and other ingredients, and the work that went into prep was very high. Price point is medium and pretty on par for a BBQ restaurant, I'd even risk saying Bluffton BBQ is slightly cheaper than some other BBQ joints. Pretty low key place with not much room inside, there's around 15-20 chairs inside for dine in. Relatively simple menu so it's easy to choose from. Service was good and fast though I was lucky there wasn't a line ahead of me. Definitely deserves lines out the door from the pork bbq alone. I'll have to try the chicken next time as well and more sides. Enthusiastically recommended and definitely one of the best pork BBQ spots in the local bluffton/Beaufort/Hilton head area. Food easily competes with larger surrounding area BBQ joints with larger operating budget, dining area, and staff. read more

Had the ribs, chicken and the pulled pork. Sweet tea, fries and corn bread. All were terrific. Comes out dry with only the spicy rub applied. You add the sauce separately and it was very good and tasty with lots of complexity and not overly sweet.
