    The slab of white bread
    Jay D.

The Trick is on you if you don't try this place! Take out only until they run out - barbecue ribs, chicken and today lamb. Side of potato salad or baked beans. All for $12 bucks. Oh yeah, and a slab of bread (for cleaning up the sauce in your container when you've wiped out your ribs). Can't beat that with a BBQ fork!

The food is very good! I loved the potato salad, and I'm usually not a potato salad fan (it was a little sweet). The ribs and chicken were very good and I loved the sauce!! Had to wait a long time to order, then had to wait over 30 minutes for food. They did not tell me how long the wait was or I would have waited in my car instead of the hot sun. When I got home I realized I was missing a potato salad and ribs. I ordered a small and large combo (ribs/chicken)...no idea what serving I received. One tray had only chicken and bread, one had ribs and chicken. Also, the bread was plain bread, so good for soaking up extra sauce, but nothing great on its own. They only have water, grape and red pop in cans.

Upon arrival my thought was this is gonna be really good judging by the line that was formed waiting to place orders. The location is set up in what appears to be an old gas station which has a portable tent in the front with a person to take orders and payments after which they assign you a numbered ticket. You then stand around the parking lot waiting for a person that emerges out from behind a storm door and calls your number holding a plastic grocery bag that contains your food in a styrofoam container. There is also a large fishing size cooler containing semi-cold water and you are allowed 1 bottle per order as it was included in your meal. I ordered the medium chicken and rib combo which by the way, if you want to try, I suggest getting there early because when they run out of something they run out. They just so happened to run out of chicken a short while after I placed and received my order and I understand why... the ribs are crap. The chicken was absolutely juicy and fabulous, being perfectly cooked and served with a very unique and flavorful rendition of a BBQ sauce. The ribs on the other hand were tough and gummy and other than sucking the sauce of of them a waste of time. I know there are other BBQ options which I have tried in the area which are worth revisiting however this will not be on that list.

highly recommended and a flavorful meal is otw to ur mouth so don't smack. but make sure you have patience on your side because it will take over 20 minutes sometimes to get your meal. the service is good and half of them were wearing masks. they had a sign saying no mask no service for customers. the food is great and the best part is they give you a bunch of food stacked on the to go plate. I remember when I first went there I thought I was getting over on them or it was quitting time for the amount of food they give you for $5. the potato salad are seasoned well and make u wanna like ur fork fully. oh yea the ribs aren't fall off the bone but dang near . FYI they sell out fast so hurry up.... available are Drumsticks Lamb Rib Small Dinner Ribs Plate beef ribs etc see menu pic the parking isn't organized to a t but people in downtown savannah find a way to get things done and parked properly. the red velvet cupcakes were very moist and delicious! make u want to order 12 more of them.

Tricks is a good example of a neighborhood BBQ spot. As you drive by the locations you can see locals of all kinds crowded around a small folding table with a cash register. The sight is surprisingly "homey" and exciting. The grills are going and the smell cover the old building. To the left of the main door is the menu. A simple straight forward menu with the prices next to the items: chicken, ribs, and sides. My boyfriend and I decided to order a snack size meal with chicken and potato salad. This restaurant works on a "We're open until we run out" basis. So at that time we only had the choice of potato salad or rice as our side. But either way I was perfectly fine with what we chose. *Entree: Chicken and potato salad (snack size) The snack size came with five drumsticks, a regular slice of bread, house made bbq sauce, and a scoop of potato salad. The chicken had a deep char of smoked chicken. The chicken is decent but the BBQ sauce is absolutely out of this world! Nice tangy and sweet orange colored sauce. Amazing! Two thumbs up. The potato salad was smooth and creamy with a nice sweetness in the back. Overall this BBQ restaurant deserves a B+. The BBQ sauce is amazing, the smell of the restaurant out of this world, and the neighborhood feel makes you want to come back. Pitfalls, you have to come early before they sell out, you have to find parking because this place is filled with locals, and the outside appearance of the restaurant isn't the most appealing but it's definitely worth the try!

Ribs that fall off the bone! great potato salad! We were driving by and saw the smoker and needed to stop. Authentic smoked meat. we got there at 1:30pm and they were out of everything except ribs and potato salad - it's that good! local gem & kind people.

This is as close to home bbq that you are going to get. The way I stumbled across the place is quite funny but I'm glad I took a chance I will be returning here for more that's for sure

Local bbq take out. Not to be missed.

I had the Hog Wild Platter. The sliced brisket was melt in your mouth good. They were out of ribs, so an extra portion of the delicious brisket filled in. The pulled pork was well prepared although a bit dry. The chicken... ohhh the chicken was tender, juicy and delicious. For sides, the collard greens reminded me of my childhood in Florida. Better than mom's? Yes sorry mom! I love that it's unpretentious. It's not a tourist trap. It was filled with real local folk. The vibe is neighborhood friendly food. I shared a "Hog Wild" Platter with a friend while his wife tried the vegetable plate. They were sold out of ribs, so we rounded out of order of brisket (sliced), sausage, and chicken (white meat) with a second order of brisket. All of the meats were flavorful enough to eat without sauce. The sliced brisket was on-point. The sausage was grilled (vs. slow smoked) and had great texture and flavor. They gave me chopped brisket instead of a second order of sliced brisket and unfortunately it did not compare favorably to the slided brisket. The sides were solid. Crispy french fries pair well with BBQ as does savory, well-seasoned collard greens. The vegetable plate (fried okra, mac and cheese, cole slaw, and sweet potato fries) also received high marks. There is no review of the chicken, as we ran out of stomach capacity before touching it. We boxed it up for my friend to take with him. Hopefully he will write a review.

It honestly reminds me of that 'Country Greek' hospitality where nobody leaves hungry. The food is just phenomenal. That Fried Chicken is easily some of the best in the South, perfectly crispy and seasoned. I couldn't get enough of the Sweet Potato Soufflé and the Creamed Corn, which was so fresh and rich. The Macaroni and Cheese was exactly how it should be, thick and flavorful with that perfect baked crust. Every bowl they brought out was delicious, from the Butter Beans to the Flaky Biscuits. If you look at the photos, the sheer amount of food is mind-blowing. It's like a massive family feast every single day. The restaurant is communal style and only opened from 11am-2pm. There are about 8 oval shaped tables total that can seat approximately 8-10 people per table. I believe they said they can seat 75 total. When you go inside, at each table they'll have sweet tea and plenty of dishes of food for you to choose from already on the table. The options included fried chicken, sweet cornbread, biscuits, green beans, black eyed peas, Mac n cheese, squash, okra, dirty rice, collard greens, potatoes au gratin, Lima beans, pulled pork, beef stew, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato salad, and maybe a few more options. You pass the dishes around the table and load your plate up until your heart is content. The best items to me were the fried chicken, sweet cornbread, and peach cobbler. The dirty rice was undercooked and there were hard pieces. Everything else was just sustenance. If you're a vegetarian, your options will be limited to sides only. You might be able to have squash, Mac n cheese, and maybe potato salad. Many of the items are cooked with meat or made with beef or chicken stock. It's $35 flat per person. Based on the 2 hour and 15 minute wait, I don't think the food was worth it. If the wait was 30 mins to 45 mins, maybe.
