What are the best pho I've had although I had a qualm about a lemon being served instead of a lime Over I would have this fun again. It was really good.

Pork Banh Mi Sandwich with OG Spring Rolls
Sam J.

Stopped by this food hall while in town. Was in the mood for a sandwich and decided to get a bahn mi from district 1 pho. Saying I was underwhelmed may be an understatement but I will leave it at that. I ordered a bahn mi with bbq pork. 1) the pork was dry and very overcooked. 2) there was barely enough pork on the sandwich to consider the pork making it a sandwich. I got the traditional spring rolls as the side. Decent flavor but not enough of anything to make it a real dish. Thai ice tea to wash it down. Its flavor was way off. And that all cost me $30. There's a lot of options in the hall and on the menu. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. At least I got a good picture from my visit.

Shakin' Beef Fries

Please take this off the menu if this is the portion you're going to give people for $18. This is how the plate came out. I can understand the amount of steak, but like... more fries would be nice or even some rice and veggies? I side of pho broth? Anything. There's like 20 fries on here. Maybe less. We tried asking for a refund or an exchange and they couldn't do that. They could only give a DISCOUNT for another item on the menu... I'm not a person who likes to complain, but $18 for these fries in this economy?

Pho tai

If you want something hot to sooth the belly, District 1 Pho is the place for you. It is slightly pricey all things considered and although the Pho was somewhat standard, it was still enjoyable. Service was quick (took about 5 minutes to get the order) and it comes with small packets of hoisen sauce and hot sauce. Located in the food hall where seating is first come first serve. It gets pretty loud and busy on the weekend but it's a great place to hang out.

This pho spot is located in the Windmill food hall in Carlsbad. It is a casual food hall with many options to choose from. Seating was not too hard to find in the afternoon and the food hall has both dim and natural lighting areas. I was craving something soup related so I was happy to see a pho spot here! They also have rice options and banh mi I believe. I ordered pho tai which was $16 and the wait was about 10 minutes. The soup is more on the sweeter side which I didn't mind but I felt like there wasn't that much meat in my bowl. I expected more slices of meat since it was $40 for 2 bowls of pho. They offer sriracha, hoisin, and chili packets on the side along with the usual Thai basil, bean sprouts, and lime.

BYO Pho

Decent pho inside the food hall! Decided to try this and give it a shot and I was surprised how delicious it was! Went with the BYO pho which came with all the usual toppings of basil, sprouts, lime, and jalapeño slices. The broth was flavorful with a good amount of meat! The egg rolls tasted funny maybe because of taro and jicama and dry. Since we went on a Saturday night around 7 pm it was crowded af. Super hard to get seating btw. Service was mid and felt like a long time but they were really busy and doing to go orders also. Overall good food, just be prepared to wait in peak hours!

I wasn't expecting a full on food hall when I asked my gps to find me some vegan pho in Carlsbad. It's pretty nice and there were so many great options but I was craving pho. Service was good. There is plenty of seating and the feel is modern but inviting. I ordered the vegan pho. The broth was excellent. It was better than most I've had. I do wish it had more broccoli and less noodles. The tofu was good but I really like fried tofu in my pho. I'd have it again for sure. Regular tofu is better for me anyhow.

$18 Pho Dac Biet and $9 Eggrolls.
Uyen T.

"Decent" is probably the operative word for this PHO spot. They got actual Viet ladies cooking back there so it's good enough for me. Pho Dac Biet (the works) is not true Dac Biet - IYKYK - but for being inside a Food Court, I knew what I was ordering. Is it with the $18? No. Would I order it again? Only on desperate rainy days like today; it got the job done. Skip the $9 eggrolls (4) though. Too much taro stuffing and barely any ground pork; could only taste the eggroll wrapper. Waste of my carb macros. I'll probably opt to try the half dozen other restaurants options inside the Windmill Food Hall next time.

I was craving pho, and stopped by here with a friend. We ordered to go....and it wasn't til we got home that we noticed they forgot to provide the bean sprouts, basil bag. It was at that moment I realized just how much that mixed improved the pho. Although the broth was decent... without the bean sprout mix... just wasn't the same. Rather disappointed visit.

It was a hidden little spot but overall good. My only con is it was pricey! Bowls were small and it was prob $16-$18 a bowl.

What we ended up getting was parboiled meats that didn't even have a hint of being on the grill and it only had any flavor because I dipped every bite in salsa. Also the atmosphere of the food hall was chaotic and noisy with kids running all over the place. Seating was first come first serve and the place was packed so we had to circle around a couple of times before finding a table that was just vacated. The one positive was the people working the hall and clearing the tables were helpful and friendly. Honestly, do yourself a favor and skip this place and go further south on Paseo Norte Rd to the Green Dragon Tavern just on the other side of Palomar Airport Rd. The food was so much better and the atmosphere of the place was so relaxing and made the entire dining experience so pleasant.

And said welcome for two? have that table right there! I was shocked, immediately feeling more than welcome. So now my hopes were high. Ordered the pork fried rice, house pho, and lotus stem salad with shrimp. Where to begin my goodness, I'm salivating writing this review only one day later. Let's start with the salad, never would I order this in my life but my girl knows her Asian cuisine very well, it was the first thing she picked. And my god, freaking unbelievable every bite I had was so so tasty! That dressing is incredible along with the onions, I don't know what they do to them but man oh man they were delightful. Now the pork fried rice, what a hit! The pork is sliced so unbelievably thin and with so much flavor too, and the fried rice was all very good. Definitely not the best fried rice I've had but it was still quite tasty, I feel it was just slightly on the dry side for a fried rice. But flavor was very tasty and some bites were not dry. And the pho!! Kabang, another hit!!! The broth, noodles, everything. And they serve it with beans sprouts and jalapeno which is a must add!! The crunchiness from the bean sprouts ties the whole bowl together! Will I be back is not even a question one should ask. Boy am I glad to have tried this place!!! 9.5/10 Lost .5 points because of the fried rice. What a beautiful spot!!! Apologies for no pictures I tend to forget when on a date.

And when that happens, it's usually a piping bowl of ramen or pho that will answer my body's asks, so I checked out this place! This restaurant is in a strip mall a few blocks from the pier (ok maybe more like a 15 min walk) literally next door to Sunshine Kitchen. Sunshine Kitchen had a lot of diners inside and out, and I felt a little FOMO while I stuck to my decision to eat at Pho Bowl & Grill. They have two tables for outdoor seating and since no one was sitting outside and the temp was nice enough, I asked to sit outside. No problem for the guy taking care of me. He was the waiter, the guy answering the phone, the guy making sure take outs/deliveries were happening and cashier, and he got it all done! What a magician. He was pleasant enough as Asian service is about getting down to business so he took my meatball pho and diet Coke order and got to work on it. Meatball pho was delicious and piping hot and the side veggies were all fresh and abundant. Meal was very casual, I ate and slurped in peace and then went inside to pay.
