I asked why I would be giving my credit card number if there is no quote or agreement to do business. He responded to say they will not come out and give me a quote without me FIRST giving them my credit card information!!!! Buyer beware. Most companies don't charge for a quote! My power pack for the Salt Chlorinator was deemed to be broken by the technician, I was quoted over $1500 for a new power pack. While I was at Leslie's Pool Supply to buy a new Power Pack for $449.99, an experienced pool guy, asked me about the fuse in the old power pack, I confessed I did not check it. When I returned home, I found that indeed the fuse had blown. I went online to Amazon and purchased 18 fuses for $6.99. That was my problem. So essentially, I bought a 40-cent part to fix the problem. I definitely would NOT recommend Distinguished Pools. read more

I waited a long time to write this review. As in years. I was afraid Dan wouldn't help us with our warranty in the event anything ever went wrong if I wrote a bad review. I finally decided to just write it. We completely redid our pool with Dan, and he created a beautiful-looking pool. We ran into problems in the construction and he offered us several possible intelligent paths forward. There were some delays and other normal kinds of hiccups that happen in major construction. But all was relatively well until the end. I had to hound them for months about little things like some tile runners they missed replacing. The mastic around the pool deck looked AWFUL. Dan told us it was normal/the best they could do. Our regular pool maintenance guy, without prompting, laughed at the mastic, asked us what happened, and said it was the worst job he'd ever seen. Dan's team didn't completely clean up all the sand that was left on the pool deck and told us to take care of it. All of these were kind of smallish things (maybe except the mastic) that I could've lived with. But the absolute worst thing that happened was as soon as we filled up the pool it was clear there was a leak. We let Dan know immediately. He set up a leak company to come out and it turned out that during construction, Dan's team had removed a pipe cap to an old system that was no longer used and did not replace that cap. Unbelievably, Dan told us that this was our fault and that he couldn't know the system, despite the fact that it was his team that removed the cap and without saying anything to us about it. He said, as if we should be gracious, that he didn't even make us pay for the leak detection. He got angry and raised his voice in person at our house when I brought up potentially having him contribute to our water bill as we'd had to fill the pool daily with the leak. Though he did ultimately agree to at least consider it, we did not end up requesting the money because I didn't feel like yelling about it. After the initial leak repair, we realized the pool was still losing water too fast. Not wanting to deal with Dan again, and understanding that he felt leak detection was our problem, we paid for a leak specialist to come out. They quickly found that Dan's team had cracked a pipe. Thankfully the leak detection person was able to fix it. All in all, we had to pay about another $1,000 to other people to fix Dan's teams' mistakes on their $30,000+ job. It's one thing to make mistakes - we all do. It's quite another to get angry about those mistakes and raise your voice at your customers. Would never recommend Distinguished Pools. read more

Working with their team as we went through the design and build process went great. The kids and the family love the pool. 2 Stars because trying to get a hold of anyone for service or follow up after the final payment was made has been 1 star worthy. If you're going to build the pool with them, don't pay the final check until it's 100% done. read more

Dan Ramos is a true professional and has passion for his work. Dan came out and took measurements and pictures and was very patient and spent an enormous amount of time with us. While we have not yet made a final decision on if we are going to build a pool, it's very much worth it to have Dan come over. read more

We live in Banker's Hill and the neighborhood is well established. Access to our back yard is limited to a very narrow drive way. Our neighbors are fussy. The dirt here is like concrete. We are tough customers because we have a clear idea of what we want..... None of this mattered to Dan Ramos. He installed for us a beautiful traditional pool. It is beautiful beyond our expectations. Micro Pebble tech walls give the darkest blue I have ever seen in a pool. Warm salt water is easy on the skin. The process was seamless. He kept us informed along the way. He came in on budget inspire of some last minute changes. We interviewed two contractors and we are so very glad we decided on Distinguished pools. Thank you so much. We couldn't be happier. I contacted them via email in hopes of getting a third bid for a new in-ground pool & received a call from Heather about 20 minutes later. I told her that we just wanted a simple rectangular pool (approx. 36'x14') with a baja shelf & that was it (no fancy bells & whistles, no spa, no exotic materials). She said that their "starting range for any pool is in the high $60,000's" (that's $10,000 higher than my starting range). She tried to rationalize the high cost by stating that they custom build each pool...umm....so do the two other pool contractor's I had already gotten bids from. Thanks, but no thanks. read more

I actually found Distinguished Pools on the Jandy website as I needed to have a busted Levelor (water fill) repaired or replaced and the previous pool guy I hired from a different company had seemed clueless. I made an appointment through Andrea with ease and Chris was at my house the next day and right on time I might add. He was extremely knowledgeable and very quick in his work. He answered all of my questions regarding my pool needs and was just a good natured guy all around. No high pressure sales tactics, just honest and straighforward. I will update once my pool repairs are done, but the initial evaluation and estimate was a breeze. I would definitely recommend Distinguished Pools! read more

It is our second summer in the sensational pool that Dan's company built. From the first meeting, we were sure that Distinguished Pools was the right fit for us, and Dan worked quickly to provide us an on-spot design based on our vision. His team not only built the 50' foot vanishing edge pool, but also created two large pool decks in multiple colors and sizes of travertine and some gorgeous scalloped, winding stairs to the lower level. Just last week, we had an electrical short after a contractor built a putting green, and Dan's guy was here the next day - even when it wasn't his team involved in the short. We knew we could rely on Dan for an amazing pool design and build, but we couldn't have hoped for the long-term maintenance, support and overall degree of responsibility that Dan has taken on our job for almost 3 YEARS since we broke ground. Sure the folks at DP design/build pools, but they also do a great job with repairs at an affordable cost. Our technician Chris went above and beyond the call of duty in helping us out -- tremendous work ethic! Sadly, I found Dan's customer service to be less than good. Contacted him and after a brief conversation about the project we scheduled a consulting appointment/site review at his convenience (2 weeks out). I called asking him to confirm the day before our scheduled meeting, no call back from him or the office. We cleared our schedule to accommodate the meeting. Late the morning of the appointment, a lady from his office called to inform me Dan was too busy and couldn't meet, and she couldn't reschedule because she didn't have his schedule. I asked that Dan still contact me to reschedule. He still hasn't called us back to reschedule. read more

They've been able to diagnose any problems that we have and immediately fix them, all the time being courteous and nice to work with.
