Nathan promised multiple times to replace these shades, but has not done so despite multiple follow ups over the past 2.5 years. See our text history below for reference. In addition, the installer is very unprofessional. He does not clean up after himself leaving metal shavings all over and once left my apartment in a tirade without adjusting the shade. I'm glad I called Aart - they arrived promptly to measure and explain how they could build out the shutters in a way that would allow me to still access the windows for cleaning. I've used The Best Shades twice over the years. Both times, they were excellent. The first time was to install nearly 9ft wide shade across 3 panels of continuous windows. Other shade companies told me I had to break it apart into two parts because of the way shades are manufactured but Marat thought of an idea to select fabrics that look good horizontally and vertically so that the wide shade can be made horizontally. Great idea and great execution. The second job was to replace all the rest of the shades in our apartment. I didn't think twice to call Marat again. This guys are highly skilled and professional. No pressure, no sweet talking like at other places we went before. Everything happened pretty fast since their catalogs covered everything we needed to see. Always wanted to do some changes in the house and decided to start with window treatment. We ordered very delicate sash curtain to filter light and from much heavier fabric over-decorative drapery and drapery drop. One of the important part was a swags. I didn't want them to be too long to cover some beauty of drapes, but at the sane time I didn't want them to be trimmed too short to look like a taylor safe on my fabric. Next part was a hardware, which they had tones of differed variety, to match the rod to the style of the drapery, to the type of windows and the general décor of the room. Tiebacks was the other important thing for presentation, since we don't have high ceilings and heavy tiebacks will attract entire attention from the drapes and make them look shorter then they actually are. After the order was placed few weeks later the installers arrived. They were very professional and completed the installation pretty quick. It look beautiful just like in the catalog! Elegant but reach looking drapes show off each and every unique detail of ordered design. Absolutely recommend them to family and friends.

Soon after the job was completed, as time went on, and particularly now that new windows have been installed, I feel I need to share my review. Firstly, the job was over priced. The products installed, in all fairness, have been of good quality. However, I was sold the wrong type of blind for a humid bathroom, an unnecessary one for a sunroom door and storage attic and those installed in my basement prevent me from opening my windows in that location. Most importantly, the installation was done way too rapidly and with no ruler!?! Understandably, this resulted in quite a poor installation. Good luck. As an addendum to this review, I just received a YELP communication that the business owner denies working for me!?! I have the canceled checks. Very sad.

On September 2nd I entered into an agreement with Mari O'Connor, sales representative for Sue and…read moreTrevor Pinto of Budget Blinds of Mid-Lower Manhattan, to have smart motorized shades installed in our apartment. During the sales process Mari stated Budget Blinds affiliate brand Inspired Shades would function exactly like the more expensive non-affiliated Lutron brand. Specifically, Mari had inspected our current Lutron set-up with a single hub hidden from sight and told me Inspired Shades would work exactly as the Lutron accessories in our apartment do. Based on this information I paid $2500 for the Inspired Shades. At time of installation on September 28th the blinds did not work through a remote or app. The professional installers informed me they typically have issues with Inspired Shades and we should have purchased Lutron. The installers left the apartment with the blinds not working through the app and instead of providing one remote as promised at time of purchase, each blind needed its own remote next to the blind to function. The installers came a second time on September 30th and suggested we place multiple receivers in plain sight around the apartment in an effort to get the blinds to work. I specified the receivers must be hidden but were willing to try it to see if it worked. The installer still could not manage to get all the blinds to work even with receivers in plain sight. That same day I was told I could replace the Inspired Shades with Lutron, although I would only receive a $1995 credit towards the purchase vs the $2500 I had already paid. I offered to pay the difference between the $2500 I had already paid and the cost to fabricate new Lutron blinds. Mari declined and suggested the installers come a third time. On December 7th the installers came to the apartment a third time. At this point the apartment had been rented so the installers were disturbing our renters in the process. The installers proceeded to place a hub in plain sight on the kitchen counter and put 2 signal repeaters in outlets next to the blinds. One of the outlets was a single plug high voltage outlet designed for our air conditioning. Our apartment was recently gut renovated with many available outlets, but this outlet was closest to the bedroom blind. The installers unplugged the air conditioning and placed a signal repeater in that outlet rendering our air conditioning unit useless. The installers did not set up a multi-channel remote in the process. Mari wrote later that day and claimed the shades "are all functioning properly". I was sold a product that would function with a single remote or through a phone app with a hub hidden in the same place we have a hubs for our other smart home appliances. What was delivered was a product that does not work as advertised. In simple terms, I paid for a product I did not receive. Our apartment is less than 700 sq ft and all 3 windows are on the same wall. The desired location for the hub is less than 15ft from any one blind motor. Mari cited electronic interference as the reason the hub would not reach the blinds, even though none of our other smart home appliances have this issue. I have tried to solve this by offering to pay for the difference in the Inspired Shades and Lutron. I have also dedicated significant time with Budget Blinds trying to get Inspired shades to work. As a last resort I tried to involve the corporate office on 12.8 and was promptly told they could not help. Bottom line, stay far away unless you are willing to risk the same treatment.

I opted for white in both the living and bedroom areas. I love how the bedroom has the blackout feature and how both retract so close to the edges. Also thought it was a great value too. He gave me some really great options for sliding doors as I really didn't want vertical slat blinds again. I know Peter and Budget Blinds have replaced a lot of my neighbors' window treatments too so he came with a lot of great reviews and recommendations by word of mouth. I was also told that Budget Blinds will replace my blinds as a one time courtesy should there be any materials damages, I.e., flood damage, fire, etc. I would need to cover the cost of labor but the actual blinds would be replaced gratis. I would pay the additional labor, which is more than reasonable. Highly recommend.
