Ronnie, the repair person, is excellent. He came to pick up my broken wooden blinds, that are 50 years old, at the beginning of the big snowstorm. He repaired them beautifully and brought them back in about 10 days. I'd almost given up on being able to repair the blinds and here is a real, old fashioned, New Yorker who is willing to repair something rather than replace it. Had the most foul experience and interaction with an employee of this company. He left the job unfinished and I can't imagine how horrible of a job he must have done of completed client jobs. There's no point in posting a biased review so I'll list the facts and you can see how this company treats its customers. *update: after he threw his temper tantrum and left we installed them ourselves so maybe think twice before you blow hundreds of dollars on something anyone could figure out. We read the instructions that came with the shades and with some internet help, we figured it out (have never thanked the installer for anything and they did not provide any knowledge or help) 1. Comes in with an attitude in the first second of entering our home saying the shades are different than what he expected - super professional I know. He installs the brackets incorrectly (different orientation than the instructions state) and after us letting him know it's wrong and him taking a hit on his ego, he tells us he guarantees he's right, but looks again, and installs them exactly the way we said they were supposed to be installed in the first place. 2. After asking him to install the shades closer to the window to lessen light leakage, he accuses us of telling him how to do his job and says he's just following the instructions (instructions he didn't follow just 10 minutes ago). He goes on a tangent on how the windows are made differently in our unit and the distinction between a frame and the glass. 3. He makes my partner hand him multiple things and read the instructions to him so really we should be paid at least 20% what he's being paid. Plus, he's mean and impatient so it really feels like we're working for him. 4. He gets frustrated we're asking him questions on an obviously shoddy job and says he needs to leave because this job is "his hobby and it's supposed to be fun". Didn't realize he could get paid for his fun hobby like that (video shows him saying this). 5. Upon leaving he says noone will install this junk because they're from China and they're knockoffs. Interesting how we're Chinese people and he chose that comment, also knowing full well we purchased legitimate shades from Lutron. read more

I have been very satisfied with the blinds from Greenpoint Blinds. I have used Greenpoint Blinds twice now. Once, for blackout blinds in my bedroom. These are great. They really do block out all light and I now sleep much more soundly. Separately, I had some non-blackout blinds installed in my living room and office room. Ronnie was very straightforward to work with. He is efficient to communicate with via text message. I'm not one to write reviews but feel I should give a warning to anyone considering using this company because of my recent experience. I hired Greenpoint Blinds Window Fashions to measure and make blinds from my living room and bedroom. That process was fairly simple, Ronnie came here a few weeks ago - measured and gave me an estimate of installation. As far as my cellular blinds go and the installation of them, I'm very satisfied with them. It's what came in between that was totally unprofessional. My building requires checking the vaccination status of all contractors coming to work. I don't make policies, nor can I change them. Honestly, I don't agree with it as long as the contractor is wearing a mask. But as far as I'm aware this is not totally uncommon today and is happening in most buildings. Ronnie was scheduled to come do my installation, and mind you forty minutes late for the appointment, called me up - screaming about how the super of my building wanted to check his vaccination card. Saying it was his medical freedom to not have a check of his vaccination status. At first I was confused as to what was happening as he was screaming at me and screaming at the super, and I couldn't understand what was going on. He really caused a scene and even when the building staff tried to reason with him and give him an N95 to come upstairs he still was belligerent. Frankly, it was extremely unprofessional and he embarrassed me by causing all this chaos. I had to come downstairs and reason with him to wear their mask to come upstairs. He really caused me a headache that I shouldn't have had. To completely blow up like that was out of line and he certainly could have handled the entire thing way better. It completely soured me on this company and even if I wanted to use them again, I was told that he was no longer allowed in the building. Again, not my policy but the building's because of how out of line Ronnie was. Afterwards, Ronnie sent me a text with a screenshot of the announcement of Governor Hochul lifting the New York State Indoor Mask Mandate. He said "You can show it to your super." He failed to understand that workers who do in-person work are still required to show proof of receiving a vaccine and business may not allow any unvaccinated workers to work at their workplace. So, a word of caution with Greenpoint Blinds Window Fashions. If your building requires a check vaccination status of all contractors, you may want to find another company to go with because Ronnie might scream at your building staff for asking about it. read more

Writing this review in hopes that customers will shop elsewhere and not support this scam Artist. Gentleman had to come twice (both times late) to measure and still didn't do what we wanted. He kept talking over us in the original consultation and seemed he only wanted to install one type of shades and denied us all other options we requested. Maybe he didn't have the skillset to accomplish what we actually wanted because I saw another review complaining about the same thing. When the install day came, which he said would take 15-30 mins, he was 3 hours late. He then rushed the job because he hung the shades crooked. When I mentioned that it wasn't worth 1.6k for crooked shades his move was to take them down and leave huge holes in the sheet rock. He then started yelling and made me feel uncomfortable. Going on complaining that the brand new building wasn't even and started blaming the wall was uneven (which any professional would have brought up in the consult and still find hard to believe and was just an excuse). He then went on to say it's not his fault and he only sells blinds and that's all he was there for. Didn't care if we were happy all he wanted was his money. 100% rip off. They are even nice shades. read more

Ronnie Cohen came out quickly to measure the three large windows in my new studio apartment, and recommended light-blocking shades to go underneath my (bargain) Home Depot blinds. He tried to give me options I could afford, and made helpful suggestions. He did all of the measuring and calculating very quickly and, when the shades arrived after 2-3 weeks, he came right over and installed them. They help deflect heat and make it easier to sleep in if I want to, but they also roll right up when I want lots of light, and to enjoy the view. I appreciated that Ronnie was so kind and easy to work with -- it was a pleasure. The process was easy, and I love the product and the result. read more

We were made to pay $250 for less than 30 mins work to fix one shade. We have electric motor-powered window shades in our apartment and a few of the shades stopped working. Ronnie came to our apt. for an initial assessment. After quickly fixing one shade that's out of order, he said that one of the motors for the other shades had broken. He proposed to order the new motor and install for us and asked for $850 for the whole project (he said the motor alone costs $600). We were startled by the cost and a quick google search revealed the price for a new motor of the same type we've been using is around $200. We confronted him and he got mad and said that's what he charges anyways. We told him we'll order the motor ourselves and look for another contractor for the installation. He instantly jacked up the price for the initial assessment to $250 (adding extra labor, tax etc. to the $150 we initially agreed). We were not told about these add-ons in our initial negotiation. In any event we don't understand the justification for adding $75 "extra labor" cost on top of the $150 we already agreed to pay given that he spent less than 30 mins on the whole thing. We disputed the price and he said he wouldn't leave the apt. until he got the $250 he wanted. It was so thuggish I almost wanted to call the cops. We finally paid the $250 he demanded (granted that he fixed one shade for which the motor was working). We subsequently ordered the motor at around $200 dollars and hired another contractor to install (which only cost $175). It was such a disappointing experience. Not to mention he was a couple hours later than the agreed-upon time and we cancelled work to wait. To top it off, he also damaged the other shades he wasn't able to fix, which took a long time for the other contractor we hired to fix. read more

I moved into an apartment which had some expensive but older blinds. Rather than replace them I tried Greenpoint to rebuild them and get them cleaned up. While it was not exactly inexpensive, they did a great job with cleaning them top to bottom, replacing all mechanicals and scoring a 7 year warranty from the manufacture! Not an easy thing to do. Excellent service, in fact, Ronnie offered to come earlier than we'd planned so I had extra time in my day! He not only reinstalled well, but repaired the brackets that were already there and taught me how to avoid future repairs.
