I had been trying to find someone to clean my ivory colored blinds. After much research, I came upon Blindwash. We were thrilled by the work Evan and his assistant did on our sixteen-year-old blinds, which had accumulated a fair amount of dust and dirt and grime here over the years in NYC. The buildup of dirt on the blinds was very heavy, since 2018 when they washed them before. Within a couple hours they returned the blinds to the windows completely clean. This company has a mobile ultrasonic system for cleaning all kinds of window blinds. Basically, they take down your blinds, they wash your blinds in their truck, they put your blinds back--all in an hour or two. I got a bid from Sharon, one of the owners. She was very professional and fun to talk to. She booked an appointment for next week. So far, the only downside is that they only take cash and checks, no credit cards. Also, the earliest they come is 10:30. These are minor problems but worth noting. I'll update after the work is done. UPDATE: I'm going up to 5 stars. They are just great. Eyal (Sharon's business partner) showed up right on time, cheerfully went about his business, and even saved me some money. He advised that Silhouette shades with blackout slats can't be successfully cleaned ultrasonically--he even told me that I should get some compressed air and just blow the dust off. He hand-cleaned my wooden blinds, which are now like new. (The wood cleaner has a bit of a scent; ask about this if you think it might bother you.) He told me candidly that several honeycomb blinds were so dirty they would not come out perfectly; I went ahead (and was quite satisfied), but I appreciated his honesty. They price by brand, style, and linear foot. Sharon's quote was right on, except that I didn't know exactly what kind of blinds I had, so any mistakes were mine. Not cheap, but sure cheaper than buying and installing new blinds. Please note: Blindwash comes to you. The office address listed by Yelp is not a dropoff location. I have 12 enormous shades in my new apartment. They are pretty old and very dirty from the renovation we just did. So now that I've actually had my blinds cleaned, I'm mollified. They did an excellent job. The blinds look like new. Apparently, Blindwash has been around for 17 years as a small family operation. They're only now really starting to structure it as a competitive business. The good thing is that you're dealing with the owner, not a hired minimum wage helper who couldn't care less. I recently called Blindwash to clean my shades that hadn't been cleaned for an embarrassing number of years. It was easy to make an appointment, they came even a little earlier than expected and returned with blinds that looked completely new, that's how clean they were--and did the job in less time than they predicted. I have 3 Hunter Douglas Silhouette blinds that are 25 years old or more. I recently had my apartment renovated and they were grimy and covered with dust. Gray - not white. Really great service. My blinds are very clean, (Levolor 1 inch). Could not ask for a better job and a polite, careful, and efficient technician. I will DEFINITELY use them again when needed. We had 5 windows with 2" faux wood blinds cleaned. They had a layer of dust and grime on them. We had tried without luck to hand clean them with various detergents and cleaners. Evan arrived and expertly removed and carefully marked which blind went on which window. He brought them to the truck and 2.5 hours later they came back into the apartment clean as a whistle! Evan was even able to fix one of the blinds that had been sticking for over a year. They were very professional, efficient and did a great job! The owner of Blindwash came personally, with an assistant, to clean our roll-up shades. They arrived on time, and were very pleasant and neat in their work.
