For a really popular place, we were pretty disappointed and pricey for the serving size. The interior is thoughtfully designed and worth seeing once. Lamb samosas (8.7): it was okay? Dishoom chicken tikka (14.9): NOT tikka masala! We were between this and the chicken ruby but were told it's just like butter chicken and were recommended this-- the highlight, chicken flavorful and tender, and I liked the pickled sides House black daal (11.7): their signature dish-- decent, pretty heavy and filling but nothing to sing about Roomali Roti (5.5): we were going to get the garlic naan, but the waiter said that's something you can get anywhere so we got the roti which he recommended-- however, this completely lacked flavor. I've had better roti in Malaysia and in the US lol Garlic naan (5.5): we ultimately got this because we didn't like the roti, but this also the garlic flavor was not shining through Other recommended dishes: chicken berry britannia with raita, charred lamb chops, murgh malai, okra fries Tip: you have to buy the rice, naan etc separately. Also heads up there's a 12.5% service charge.
I've been waiting for months to finally try Dishoom. We were starving by the time we arrived for iur reservation so we got plenty of food. We ordered the chicken ruby, the black daal which is their speciality, pav bhaji, bhel, biryani and garlic naan. The food tasted very comforting and not spicy l. The service was great and our waiter was attentive.
Having originally only went to Dishoom's Carnaby location, I came here for the first time because this is my friend's preferred Dishoom location. I see why she prefers coming here! The restaurant has gotta be like 4x the size of Carnaby. Not just that, the ambience is way better here. The tables are way more spaced out, so you don't feel super cramped. The open space helps negate the strong Indian spices that emanate from the kitchen. And it just feels way more comfortable. Anyways, our reservation was right at the tail end of the breakfast menu hours and right before the regular menu began, so we were able to get a Sausage & Egg Naan Roll to start. Also had the Lamb Biryani, Goan Monkfish Curry, Mutton Pepper Fry, and Murgh Malai. I mean basically everything at Dishoom is great, and this was no exception. Service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! I love Dishoom, so you'll have to find a reason for me to not come here. Really good stuff!
Came here after many recommendations from friends and my Instagram feed--and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The vibe is warm and lively, the service was great, and the food was delicious . The Paneer, House Black Daal, roti and parathas, crispy okra, chai and lassi were all delicious. Definitely worth the wait, and I'd happily come back when in London!!
I'm probably going to get some hate for this but I only thought our meal was ok. Which bummed me out because I've been dying to try this place for years! We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.
Went here yesterday for a celebration dinner. On the plus side, the restaurant is huge, tons and tons of seating. Prices aren't terrible. Food was really good, definitely some of the better Indian we've had. That said, service was slow and our celebration--which was acknowledged by the host enthusiastically--seemed to have been forgotten. A note: the dishes are not prepared to order so you can't choose your own spice level. One in our party ordered something that was delicious but couldn't be finished because it was too hot. I recommend it but it wouldn't be my every day choice for Indian.
Dishoom was incredible, my favorite meal in London! Everything was simple but perfectly well done - flavors were so good and delicious and everything we got was a great choice. We got pau bhaji to start, then naan, chicken ruby, and mattar paneer. I wish we got the daal too but we were full. They were also so generous and brought us complementary ice cream for my mom's birthday. We also got the shrikhand dessert, which truthfully wasn't really shrikhand but was still very yummy! Service was great and I really loved the vibe and interior decor of the place. Highly recommend if you are visiting London!
How did I not know Dishoom existed until now? Visiting London from California, this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.
Located in Covent Garden, you'll find this highly rated, recommended restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty big. The seating area upstairs is spacious and there's a downstairs too. The staff are nice and polite and helpful with recommendations and today we ordered the Dishoom House Chaat, which was so good. Than the Biryani Lamb. Oh boy the lamb inside was so tender, so delicious and lastly we got the Chicken Ruby that was good and had a really nice kick to it. I can see why it's so popular. I definitely want to eat here again if we have time I would love to try their other dishes.
We had wonderful service here! Dishoom is a popular place but the dinner line for 3 on a weeknight wasn't too bad (they don't take reservations), I thought the line moved fairly fast and at some point they handed out small sample cups of chai to us which was nice. It's very spacious inside. Although their black bean dish Black House Daal is popular, I don't think it's something I'd reorder because I don't like beans that much in general. As a chicken tikka masala fan, I enjoyed their butter chicken the most. It's the closest thing they have to chicken tikka masala--which they don't have, they only have chicken tikka which is dry and quite spicy, has no creamy sauce. I also liked the okra fried, which is a type of fry I'm not used to seeing! It's got flavor, and I also loved the chutney and sauces on the table! I enjoyed a Dishoom Margarita which was strong in alcohol content and flavor, and a nice addition to the meal. They have an interesting drink menu, where you will find lots of nonalcoholic and rather healthy options! They have a small shelf in the middle of the room where they sell some of their chai and cookbooks amongst other things.
Dishoom absolutely lived up to the hype! We were a little nervous because we didn't have reservations, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and found a way to get us seated. It was well worth the weight. We ordered lamb samosas, sheekh kebab, chicken ruby, and both the garlic and onion naan. Every dish was packed with incredible flavor, and it was easy to see why this has such a loyal following. The chicken rub was especially outstanding, and the noun was the perfect accompaniment. The service made the experience even better. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to offer recommendations that did not disappoint. This was one of our favorite meals on our London trip. We only wish they would open a location in the United States!
Some days this place would be jam packed, but other days I passed by, it seems chill. I recommend making reservations if you can. I came here on a weekday night and waited about one hour for a party of five. While waiting in line, they offered a cup of hot chai tea which was perfect for the cold weather. The chai is absolutely delicious. The Chicken Ruby, Okra Fries, and Masala Prawns were my favorite dishes. House Black Daal is their signature dish, which is good to try. The restaurant is dimly lit for an intimate family dinner, but a bit loud. The restrooms are clean. The staff is friendly. I only give them 4/5 because the curries are pretty comparable to places I've been to before, but if I have to recommend one dish and one drink - Okra Fries and Chai Tea.
Was recommended to come here by a lot of people! Food: The food was so warm and tasted to fresh. The chicken ruby tasted so good with the rice and garlic nan! I loved the lentils with the nan! The sauces they gave were very lovely paired with everything. Service: Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable with the menu. We told her it is our first time and she broke down the menu items for us! Very sweet of her to do so. Overall: I would recommend this place to other people and possibly come back in the future when I revisit London! Food was pretty high quality and so were the people working there. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious too!

I found most of the dishes good and one great. My sister said you can't come to London and not eat at Dishoom. People absolutely love it. I can attest that when I told people I ate at Dishoom, they told me it's one of their favorites. Personally, I found everything pretty good, but I don't quite understand the hype. We went to another location first. It was 8:30 p.m. on a Monday and the wait was an hour and twenty minute. I walked 15 minutes to this location and found out the wait was only 15 minutes! My sister ran over. We were seated within 10 minutes. My favorite dish by far was the Murgh Malai. I could cut the chicken with a spoon. That dish was absolutely fantastic. We started with the Dishoom House Chaat, which I also enjoyed. It's unique enough that I would possibly order it again. We got the Tandoori Roti, which I don't think I'd get again. I'm jut not a huge roti fan, but that may just be a me problem. Then we also got the House Black Daal, which I also found just ok, but my sister really enjoyed. Overall it's a good amount of food for the price and our server was very charming. It's a little dark inside, but that lends itself to the ambiance. It's rather large so I'm surprised that others had an hour wait at this location. The open kitchen is fun to watch. It seems like a London institution so I would recommend you come at least once. It's very sold, but it may have been overhyped to me. Or next time I'll try different dishes (other than the chicken). read more
Pro-tip: yes, there's a long line. But it moves very, very fast. Trust me. Wait is between 15-20 minutes for a full line. While waiting, I was treated to a complimentary warm Indian-Like oat milk tea. This was outstanding. And if you're not satisfied with the shot, I'd recommend ordering the full serving. I bet they use cardamom spice in the drink? Maybe? Bottom/line: Dishoom is indeed the most reviewed restaurant in London. With friendly service, decent food, the appeal is there, but when you receive the bill, I find it extremely difficult to justify the outlandish prices. Therefore, you're gonna pay a premium I submit is excessive. Surely there are other Indian restaurants in London that are more budget friendly, yet the atmosphere is not as upscale . I ordered the ruby chicken and a side of naan for my main course (spicy) Ruby chicken translates to chicken tikka masala everywhere else. With the 17 pound price tag , I'm surprised it doesn't come with the naan. Every item is indeed a la carte. The chicken was juicy, but I expected a bigger portion. The actual gravy honestly doesn't punch that hard. Seems pretty average. The highlight of the meal was the crème brûlée like rice pudding: it was delicious and is a MUST for your visit I aim to be honest . 3/5 stars You know this is just my opinion ya'll, right ? read more

Food was SO GOOD, and I'm honestly not a huge fan of Indian food normally but this place was the SPOT for it. Small plates across the board overall but the flavor of every dish was delicious, and you can also expect your table to be packed out with a bunch of dishes because you have to try as much as you can. Our server was great and so helpful to walk us through every menu item we had a questions on. Inside is pretty big and clean, but you definitely have to make reservations because this place gets packed. Whether you love Indian food or are unsure and maybe want to maybe give it a try - go here! read more

My mother lives this place. She lives the food. I order my favorite food to share with my mom it was Chicken Tiki Malasa but they call it Chicken Ruby I got to say the rice was so fluffy it felt like air rice The staff were nice but I barley could hear him sue to being so busy and they place us by the stairs. It was heavy traffics and near the service station even more traffic. The mango lassi was divine. I loved the garlic naan & the rice a lot. The chicken Malasa was meh. I didn't care for mor. read more

My friend went to London and could not stop raving about this place. Luckily, I got the chance to fly to London and try it myself. I've seen online, people queuing up for about an hour or more, but we pulled up to the front and got seated right away. Lucky us because after we left, there was a queue for dinner! The inside is absolutely gorgeous and HUGE. There's an upstairs and downstairs. We were seated upstairs in a small table (only 3 people). I'm not really sure what I ordered, but our waiter was great at recommending us his favorite. Overall, this place has good Indian food. I would definitely go back! read more
The place was really hip and cool, it was packed but we got seated fairly quickly, inside the lights were dimmed and they had soft music, they also offered outdoor seating. Our server was super nice and he was great at suggesting dishes when I was indecisive. The food was very very tasty, the plates also looked very presentable and photogenic. I enjoyed every bite I had, and as for drinks, they also have a large variety, including mocktails for those who want something fun without the alcohol which was a nice little addition. Will deff be coming back again! read more
# Overall: My experience at Dishoom was definitely a positive one and definitely will explore the menu and try some new items. # Ambiance Dishoom had a lot of customers, but luckily was able to snag a table without a reservation. Overall a retro vibe while still attempting a more high class air. Small qualm I had was that the chairs didn't allow me to put my coat behind me without it touching the ground. # Food and Drink Fish Amritsari This small bites dish is a must try. It definitely can stand alone by itself, but also pairs well with the provided green chutney that adds an acidic kick to its well seasoned batter. It did become a little softer than expected after squeezing lime on it. Garlic Naan The garlic flavor doesn't really come through, but still served as a great vessel for the curry and the complimentary sweeter chutneys. Chicken Ruby Originally wanted to try their tikka masala and almost mistakenly ordered the Dishoom Chicken Tikka, but our server politely informed us that we'd be looking for the Chicken Ruby. The curry is definitely more on the earthier side than other tikka masalas I've had. It's very aromatic and carries a deep, rich flavor such that the heat is an after thought. The chicken thigh pieces were not prepared tandoori style, which I thought was weird, but it was still very tender. read more

We were recommended this place by a flight attendant and it did not disappoint. This was our first time here so we tried a few different dishes. Everything was amazing. The service was great. Our server helped us determine how many dishes to get to share. We even opted for dessert. The food was very flavorful but not over spicy. Best Indian food or food I have ever had. A must try. The ambience was nice. Dimly lit and a glass separator from a larger table so it felt like we had our own space and privacy. read more
We came for lunch at 11 and they were serving Breakfast so, we noshed on a tasty porridge and tender fresh Nan stuffed with bacon. Then it was noon and still there, we had lunch! Loved the Ruby Chicken curry and Raita and exquisite basmati rice. Our server was delightful and we cheekily said we were staying through dinner! Honestly if I could keep eating I would have too! Best in class! read more
Key word: reservation. Or, expect a 40+ minute line at the door even on a Tuesday night. But it's worth it! Fantastic prawn curry, roti, and mango lassi. Great atmosphere, and they were able to rush my ticket due to a 1-hr time constraint I had. The only thing I didn't care for was the plain rice; I felt it was a bit too al dente for me. And the red onions had a LOT of bite, so I passed on those, too. read more

We liked this take on indian food with a much expanded menu from what is offered in the. is. It's Boliwood themed and has a 1920s retro hip vibe. Servers were awesome. They took time to help us sort through the extensive menu. Ordered bespoke cocktails and starters to begin. Can't really go wrong. For the mains We tried the well reviewed lamb chops which were delish but maybe a bit chewy. We had the velvet chicken too which was delicious as well and was kind of a combo of the Tika and butter sauces back home. Naan bread made to order. yum Pro tip. Go about 5:30 to avoid the long but fast moving Queue(that's a line in the US) Order read more

Highly popular Indian restaurant in London, very crowded and for certain periods in the evening impossible to place a reservation. So we had just arrived from Norway and walked in - and literally within 10 minutes, the guy found us a place, provided a welcome tea and started making recommendations about the dinner options. Many choices available. Everything we chose was absolutely spectacular with such a flavor-rich bouquet in the mouth, the finest texture and appropriate spiciness. We could not resist ordering the respective cookbook which has since provided us with a lot of additional spectacular dinners. read more

We had the best Indian food here. The line was long, so we had to wait 30 minutes on the line in a Monday evening, but it was well worth. We sat one of the outside tables, everything was good especially the black doll and ruby chicken. Their garlic naan with butter was really good too. It took almost long time to have our order ready but since it was very crowded it is understandable. Overall FIVE stars read more

Amazing place, very popular! We walked up Wednesday night I believe and the line was wrapped around the building. Of course we didn't stay but made a reservation for lunch another day. We were seated and served immediately, the entire staff was attentive to everybody. It was pretty empty when we arrived but that changed pretty quickly. I ordered a blushing colada to start, not what I expected but it was good. I got the lamb samosas to share with my sister and they were ok, the meat was tender but I should've tried more sauce. As I said, the place got pretty busy pretty quickly but they the still prompt. I asked the server for recommendations for my entree and she didn't disappoint, I ordered the chicken ruby w/ garlic naan. It was delicious but could've used some rice! Everything came out piping hot so take your time. Lol... Lastly, I insisted on trying the Kala(because that's literally my name) Khatta w/ nice cream and it was a no for me dawg lol not my favorite BUT the waitress insisted I order something else so I did: the Dishoom Chocolate Pudding did not disappoint. I'm a chocolate girl, through and through! The restrooms were located in the basement, basically Tim Buck too! Because it was a hike but they were very nice. read more
The place and service is nice. I came in solo and was seated right away. Didn't have to wait for very long compared to if I went during dinner time. I ordered the bacon and egg naan roll with a side of chiles on the side for some heat. It was delicious. I'm hooked on it and make it a point to stop by for breakfast whenever I'm in London. Try it! You will not regret it. read more

We made breakfast reservations so it wasn't very busy. Staff and ambiance of this location is nice. A lot going on and you know you're in for a good time. Our waitress was very polite and did not rush us from beginning to end. I had the Big Bombay and thought it was delicious. Also, had their traditional chai. I'm not a connoisseur of chai, but I really enjoyed it and bc it was bottomless, I took advantage of it. I can't really say what their lunch/dinner are like, but I'm sure it is fantastic if their breakfast is good. Highly recommend! read more
This place came highly recommended and when I was visiting London of course I had to try it! The wait thankfully wasn't long because we went exactly right when lunch was about to start. We came in pretty hungry so we ordered so much food and the house chai tea. Most of the dishes we ordered were recommended by our waiter but I read other reviews that the okra fries were highly recommended so we had to get those. Oh mannnnn if I wasn't so full I would have wanted another order. These were my favorite item and absolutely DELICIOUS. My mouth is still watering thinking about them. My husband loved the chai tea so much that he got 2 more orders of it!! The restaurant itself was big, well lit, and aesthetically pleasing. I would go back to London just to eat here again! read more
Greeted outside with a warm chai while waiting in a fast-moving line. Great way to start the experience. Had a lovely late night experience. The place is busy and the service was a little slow, but it was worth the wait. The only thing I would pass on next time is the gunpowder potatoes- the seasonings were tasty but they were dry and that made the overall dish very dry for my liking. Liked the paneer tikka and the chili broccoli salad. Loved the dessert basmati Kheer. My rookie mistake: I ordered still water thinking it was tap water and ended up paying ~ $10 for water. I recommend this place for yummy bites, an intimate feel (though it's quite large), and a staff that definitely tries to please! read more
We come to Dishoom every time we visit London, so I'm embarrassed it's taken me this long to write a review! This restaurant is always a must-visit for us, and it never disappoints. Today, we arrived around 12:10pm for lunch on a Tuesday, and there was plenty of open seating, so we didn't have to wait. By the time we left (~1:30pm), there was a long line out the door, so I'd recommend getting there closer to noon or having a reservation. (They also take reservations for dinner until 5:45pm, so definitely plan for an early dinner + reservation if you want to eat there in the evening or be prepared for a looooong wait.) The decor is immaculate, wood panels and beautiful tiling with a vintage bent. We ordered a chai (free refills!) and mango + fennel lassi, a roti, okra fries, the specialty masala fish, and a half-order of the chilli broccoli salad. It was the perfect amount of food for two - we left very full. The chai and lassi were amazing, as always. I've tried mango lassis at several Indian restaurants, but Dishoom's is just the right amount of tang and freshness. The okra fries are AWESOME: perfectly fried and very well seasoned. The chilli broccoli salad is a great veggie side - slightly spicy, tangy, with pistachios and sunflower seeds. The fish was a standout dish for us. It's tender, lathered in beautiful spices, and a hefty portion, too. Divine! I wouldn't get the roti again (it's better paired with a curry or some such - I'd assumed it would be like the flakey, buttery roti that comes with roti canai, which was incorrect!), but everything else was perfect. We'll be back for breakfast soon! read more

Absolutely phenomenal! We stopped by for lunch and were seated immediately without reservations. We ordered the house chai, house chaat (potatoes covered with yogurt and vegetables), black daal (curry that's been cooked for 24 hours), and lamb biryani with roti. Out of these, the lamb biryani stuck out immensely given the incredible flavors and presentation (the server rolls away the roti to reveal the biryani underneath with the lamb meat still on the bones). On a hot day, the chaat is very refreshing and we absolutely loved the chai. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful as well so it's a great place to eat and relax after a long day. read more

Dined here on my first day in London. This came in recommended by a friend of mine and I am so glad I made a reservation. Came in here about 10 min before my reservation, and waited about 5-8 min for my time. Look at the long lineup. Super glad I made a reservation. Food was very fresh. In my mind, really good flavor combinations. Talked to a few local taxi drivers. Some don't think they are authentic, and I was like.... Really. Tasted good for me. LoL authentic or not, it was delicious with a nice flare and twist to all of their menu items. Decoration is good. I was seated downstairs I think. Decor was consistently nice and exotic. Service was great. Fast, friendly and attentive. read more
Went here entirely based on the Yelp reviews, the proximity to our hotel and our wanting to have great Indian Food in London. MAN - this was the best Indian food we have ever had. Highly recommend. Get there as early as you can - this place is VERY POPULAR. That said, the line moves pretty fast and they treat you like kings - even when you are in the line. We got there at 8:30 on a Friday night and the line was as you see in the photo - they told us 40mins for a table for two. The line moved pretty quickly with it really only taking 30mins. Additionally, they brought chai tea for us all to drink and even umbrellas for us when it started to drizzle. They REALLY APPRECIATE even the people in line. Once we got in, we realized how large the restaurant is and why they can move that kind of a line so quickly. That said, while it is a large restaurant, the service is fast and very pleasant. The waiter Kiran was super helpful and get us completely set up The Ruby Chicken was INSANE!! The fried okra was awesome (although my wife had to convince me to get it) and the naan was out of this world. Highly recommend Dishoom if you are in London (I believe there are several locations) read more

Dishoom has always been one of my favorites and I came here for brunch. I tried the big Bombay breakfast and the chili toast. The service here was quick and friendly. The chili toast was good but it's overwhelming with cheese. Overall, really happy I came here read more

Seriously the best Indian food I've ever had. No joke. This place is on another level. I could rant and rave about this place all night and day. Food and service was spectacular! If you love Indian food then you have to try this place. Not only is the food amazing the set up and ambience is super hip and modern. I am not going to go into detail on every dish (we got like 9 dishes for our group and shared everything) but all I can say is everything was superb. I will say the chicken dish that resembles Chicken Tika Masala is even BETTER than any tika masala I've ever had in the US. And they had this dipping sauce that looks like Tika Masala but it's not. See my pic. And then their Prawns and chicken dish that looks like Orange chicken (but it's not) is also amazing! GOTTA GET YOU SOME GARLIC NAAN TO GO WITH DINNER AS WELL. We got like 4 orders! read more
Second visit to London, England and 2nd visit to Dishoom. This place is absolutely amazing. Service is attentive and considerate. I have food allergies and was given the ordering menu to choose from a variety of vegan options. The food is excellent and great variety to share with the table. Vegetable Samosas are perfect, Lamb samosas too much like 'game' to me so I wasn't interested. There were four of us and we had too much food, the Masala Prawns were spicy although the waiter said it was 'mild spice' it was hotter than mild. I had the basmati rice with a bowl of greens as this was perfect choice for my dietary restrictions. The drinks are such a variety of options and because I could not decide, chose to drink a glass of white wine. They also have beers & ciders, chai and fresh juice. read more

I recently visited London and kept hearing that Dishoom was an absolute must. After trying it, I can see why--mostly! **First, the logistics:** We initially attempted to dine at the Knightsbridge location on a Sunday at 9:30 PM but were turned away as both the restaurant and waitlist were at capacity. Lesson learned! The next evening, we headed to the Covent Garden location around the same time, where we were told they accept walk-ins until closing at 11 PM. We waited about 30 minutes for a table for two, which was pretty decent considering the buzz. We liked it so much that we returned on Wednesday at 5:30 PM and waited only 15 minutes. **The food:** On our first visit, we stuck with what we had heard were the classics and were not disappointed. The House Black Daal was incredible--seriously, a 5/5. The Chilli Broccoli Salad was also a surprising hit; it was packed with flavor and definitely worth trying (also 5/5). We washed it down with the Dishoom Margarita which even got my mom's stamp of approval, and she doesn't usually drink! The following day, we recreated a bit of Dishoom magic at breakfast by ordering the Chilli Cheese Toast to-go --another 5/5, and I highly recommend giving it a shot. However, our second visit didn't quite live up to the first. We took our waiter's suggestions and went with the Spicy Lamb Chops and Prawn Pathia. The Lamb Chops, while nicely seasoned, were dry and chewy, only earning a 3/5. The Prawn Pathia was the real letdown--prawns in a bland tomato sauce that just didn't do it for me (2/5). It came with Roomali Roti, and we were advised to get a second one, but it wasn't necessary. The one that came with the curry was buttery and soft, while the extra was dry and hard--skip the extra or ask them to butter it. **Service and atmosphere:** The restaurant is bustling, and the atmosphere is buzzing, which adds to the experience but has some downsides. It tends to be loud inside, so if you're sensitive to sound, I'd suggest asking to be seated outside or downstairs--still loud, but not as much. At times, it was hard to locate our waiter, and the service felt a bit stretched thin. They could turn tables faster if the waitstaff were more available. Also, check your bill--we received the wrong one on our first visit. **Drinks and other notes:** The Passionfruit Sharbat was refreshing, and the House Chai was a comforting end to the meal. I'd rate them 4/5 and 5/5, respectively. **Final thoughts:** Overall, Dishoom lives up to the hype, mainly if you stick with the tried-and-true dishes. The vibe at Covent Garden is lively, and despite some service hiccups, it's a place I'd still recommend checking out--just be prepared for a bit of a wait, keep an eye on your bill, and consider your seating options if you prefer a quieter dining experience. read more

We were excited to try Dishoom because of all the hype, but I found the overall experience to be a let down. We got in line at around 8 pm on a Sunday and were pleasantly surprised to be seated within 20 minutes. But the waiting did not stop there, since our food didn't come out for another 45 minutes! Our server was not the friendliest and at times seemed to be avoiding our table. I don't mind waiting for delicious food, but I also found the food itself to be mid and overpriced. - Garlic naan: It tasted fine, but 1 order only comes with 2 small pieces! It looked so silly in the serving tray that I almost thought it was another table's half-eaten naan. Crazy for the price. - Chicken ruby: Their take on butter chicken. This was also fine especially because we were so hungry, but we ran out of naan so quickly we were just eating saucy chicken. I would have appreciated if our server had recommended also getting a side of basmati rice, or perhaps 2 orders of naan. We were hesitant to order rice after the fact because we were not about to wait another 45 minutes for it to come out! - Black daal: Also was fine, but as above, it would have been nice to have more carbs to pair with it. - Chili broccoli salad: This was pretty tasty but portions were oh so small! The ambiance seemed more lively indoors, but white loud, though we were fine with sitting outdoors if it meant a shorter wait time. There are space heaters for the outdoor space, and while it was definitely getting chilly at into the evening, it didn't seem like there was any intention to turn them on (and not a server to be found for us to ask to turn them on!). This is probably a one-and-done for me. read more

Excellent service, the waitress was kind and answered all our questions about the menu. She gave us great recommendations! We ordered the Chicken Ruby (Definitely the highlight of the meal), the Mutton pepper fry, Chili Chicken, and a Mango Lassi. The mutton pepper fry was so tender, and quite spicy, and the chili chicken was flavorful and also had good spice. The Mango Lassi was nice and refreshing to go with the two spicy dishes. While those were both delicious, they were absolutely outshone by the Chicken Ruby, it was definitely our favorite and we would order it again and again! We also got the Garlic Naan to pair with both of the curry dishes, which was perfect. My only minor issue is that we found the price to be a bit high for what we got, but that is to be expected for a place like Dishoom, especially which such great ambiance! read more
