For a really popular place, we were pretty disappointed and pricey for the serving size. The interior is thoughtfully designed and worth seeing once. Lamb samosas (8.7): it was okay? Dishoom chicken tikka (14.9): NOT tikka masala! We were between this and the chicken ruby but were told it's just like butter chicken and were recommended this-- the highlight, chicken flavorful and tender, and I liked the pickled sides House black daal (11.7): their signature dish-- decent, pretty heavy and filling but nothing to sing about Roomali Roti (5.5): we were going to get the garlic naan, but the waiter said that's something you can get anywhere so we got the roti which he recommended-- however, this completely lacked flavor. I've had better roti in Malaysia and in the US lol Garlic naan (5.5): we ultimately got this because we didn't like the roti, but this also the garlic flavor was not shining through Other recommended dishes: chicken berry britannia with raita, charred lamb chops, murgh malai, okra fries Tip: you have to buy the rice, naan etc separately. Also heads up there's a 12.5% service charge.
I've been waiting for months to finally try Dishoom. We were starving by the time we arrived for iur reservation so we got plenty of food. We ordered the chicken ruby, the black daal which is their speciality, pav bhaji, bhel, biryani and garlic naan. The food tasted very comforting and not spicy l. The service was great and our waiter was attentive.
Having originally only went to Dishoom's Carnaby location, I came here for the first time because this is my friend's preferred Dishoom location. I see why she prefers coming here! The restaurant has gotta be like 4x the size of Carnaby. Not just that, the ambience is way better here. The tables are way more spaced out, so you don't feel super cramped. The open space helps negate the strong Indian spices that emanate from the kitchen. And it just feels way more comfortable. Anyways, our reservation was right at the tail end of the breakfast menu hours and right before the regular menu began, so we were able to get a Sausage & Egg Naan Roll to start. Also had the Lamb Biryani, Goan Monkfish Curry, Mutton Pepper Fry, and Murgh Malai. I mean basically everything at Dishoom is great, and this was no exception. Service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! I love Dishoom, so you'll have to find a reason for me to not come here. Really good stuff!
Came here after many recommendations from friends and my Instagram feed--and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The vibe is warm and lively, the service was great, and the food was delicious . The Paneer, House Black Daal, roti and parathas, crispy okra, chai and lassi were all delicious. Definitely worth the wait, and I'd happily come back when in London!!
I'm probably going to get some hate for this but I only thought our meal was ok. Which bummed me out because I've been dying to try this place for years! We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.
Went here yesterday for a celebration dinner. On the plus side, the restaurant is huge, tons and tons of seating. Prices aren't terrible. Food was really good, definitely some of the better Indian we've had. That said, service was slow and our celebration--which was acknowledged by the host enthusiastically--seemed to have been forgotten. A note: the dishes are not prepared to order so you can't choose your own spice level. One in our party ordered something that was delicious but couldn't be finished because it was too hot. I recommend it but it wouldn't be my every day choice for Indian.
Dishoom was incredible, my favorite meal in London! Everything was simple but perfectly well done - flavors were so good and delicious and everything we got was a great choice. We got pau bhaji to start, then naan, chicken ruby, and mattar paneer. I wish we got the daal too but we were full. They were also so generous and brought us complementary ice cream for my mom's birthday. We also got the shrikhand dessert, which truthfully wasn't really shrikhand but was still very yummy! Service was great and I really loved the vibe and interior decor of the place. Highly recommend if you are visiting London!
How did I not know Dishoom existed until now? Visiting London from California, this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.
Located in Covent Garden, you'll find this highly rated, recommended restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty big. The seating area upstairs is spacious and there's a downstairs too. The staff are nice and polite and helpful with recommendations and today we ordered the Dishoom House Chaat, which was so good. Than the Biryani Lamb. Oh boy the lamb inside was so tender, so delicious and lastly we got the Chicken Ruby that was good and had a really nice kick to it. I can see why it's so popular. I definitely want to eat here again if we have time I would love to try their other dishes.
We had wonderful service here! Dishoom is a popular place but the dinner line for 3 on a weeknight wasn't too bad (they don't take reservations), I thought the line moved fairly fast and at some point they handed out small sample cups of chai to us which was nice. It's very spacious inside. Although their black bean dish Black House Daal is popular, I don't think it's something I'd reorder because I don't like beans that much in general. As a chicken tikka masala fan, I enjoyed their butter chicken the most. It's the closest thing they have to chicken tikka masala--which they don't have, they only have chicken tikka which is dry and quite spicy, has no creamy sauce. I also liked the okra fried, which is a type of fry I'm not used to seeing! It's got flavor, and I also loved the chutney and sauces on the table! I enjoyed a Dishoom Margarita which was strong in alcohol content and flavor, and a nice addition to the meal. They have an interesting drink menu, where you will find lots of nonalcoholic and rather healthy options! They have a small shelf in the middle of the room where they sell some of their chai and cookbooks amongst other things.
Dishoom absolutely lived up to the hype! We were a little nervous because we didn't have reservations, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and found a way to get us seated. It was well worth the weight. We ordered lamb samosas, sheekh kebab, chicken ruby, and both the garlic and onion naan. Every dish was packed with incredible flavor, and it was easy to see why this has such a loyal following. The chicken rub was especially outstanding, and the noun was the perfect accompaniment. The service made the experience even better. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to offer recommendations that did not disappoint. This was one of our favorite meals on our London trip. We only wish they would open a location in the United States!
Some days this place would be jam packed, but other days I passed by, it seems chill. I recommend making reservations if you can. I came here on a weekday night and waited about one hour for a party of five. While waiting in line, they offered a cup of hot chai tea which was perfect for the cold weather. The chai is absolutely delicious. The Chicken Ruby, Okra Fries, and Masala Prawns were my favorite dishes. House Black Daal is their signature dish, which is good to try. The restaurant is dimly lit for an intimate family dinner, but a bit loud. The restrooms are clean. The staff is friendly. I only give them 4/5 because the curries are pretty comparable to places I've been to before, but if I have to recommend one dish and one drink - Okra Fries and Chai Tea.
Was recommended to come here by a lot of people! Food: The food was so warm and tasted to fresh. The chicken ruby tasted so good with the rice and garlic nan! I loved the lentils with the nan! The sauces they gave were very lovely paired with everything. Service: Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable with the menu. We told her it is our first time and she broke down the menu items for us! Very sweet of her to do so. Overall: I would recommend this place to other people and possibly come back in the future when I revisit London! Food was pretty high quality and so were the people working there. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious too!
An historic cafe experience offering delicious Indian comfort food. Over ten years running and this restaurant still sees lines (or queues as it were) around the corner. Thankfully we skipped ahead with a reservation. Inside we found a bustling cafe evoking imagery of the belle epoque with family portraits lending a homey feel. The environment is a nod to the Iranian cafes that dotted the landscape of what was once-called Bombay. We sampled a variety of dishes -- chicken ruby, puri, paneer, etc. Some of the flavors were familiar to me, but the meal was admittedly an exercise in exploration. Indian cuisine has a funny way of heating up your palette with spice and then cooling it with a yogurt or other sauce. Our meal was no exception -- all dishes were well seasoned and a rollercoaster delight for the senses. What was perhaps as remarkable as the taste and visuals was the excitement with which my friend recalled his childhood experiences. His exposition confirmed for me the authenticity on display. Looking around other guests also seemed happy -- it was a nice reminder of the emotional connection that food can bring. Thank you Sanjay for introducing us to this! read more

I flipped through my Dishoom cookbook recently eagerly anticipating my trip to London where I would get to eat these goodies. While I could make them at home, the cookbook has many recipes and all, something feels extra special (and I get to be lazy) when someone else cooks for me. Plus how will I know what it's supposed to taste like if I don't try the OG? That settled it. I penciled in two stops at Dishoom for my all too short trip to London. Visit 1, Breakfast: Even for being 8:30 on a rainy morning the restaurant was pretty busy. Not busy with a line, which you'll learn is standard for Dishoom dinners, but for a breakfast they were filling up nicely so make a reservation ahead of time if you can. To start our day hoofing it around sightseeing we ordered light. The Bun Maska is a must order. Bottomless chai AND a delicious buttered bun for dipping in it? Yes. The chai here is nicely spiced, so it's extra warming on a cold morning. For the savory food we ordered Kejriwal which is two fried eggs on chilli cheese toast. Amazing how something so simple could be so tasty. Same for the Bacon Naan Roll. The tomato element isn't just a simple ketchup, but a special tomato onion jammy deal that was perfect. It was a lighter breakfast that was a great intro to London dining and start to our day/trip. Visit 2, Dinner: Dinner at Dishoom had to happen but I didn't have a reservation and didn't want to stand in line for too long so we came on a Saturday at 2:40. There was a line! Granted it was a shortish one, so it wasn't a terrible wait. By 3:10 my party of two was seated and happily looking over the menu with some tough choices to make. Everything sounds tasty, but we somehow picked a few things. We ordered the Khichia & Chundo, House Black Daal, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Berry Britannia, Garlic Naan, Gunpowder Potatoes, and a Colaba Colada cocktail. As I feared, everything was in fact delicious, but we did pick our top three. The cocktail was a fun twist on a pina colada with some chai adding a unique flavor. The chicken tikka was tender and had a great flavor. They make theirs with vinegar instead of yogurt which was different. (Note this is not chicken tikka masala! The French chicks next to me sent their chicken back because they wanted sauce. If you want that- order the Chicken Ruby.) The black daal was the best. The flavor is incredibly rich, the sauce was silky, and I don't think I'll ever have a better bowl of anything in my life. A bowl of this daal and some naan? Heavenly. The décor, the ambiance, and the service? Lovely. Even at dinner when their sections are full nobody was left wanting for anything because the servers were on top of it all. In a crowded restaurant in a crowded city we were in a world of our own, gluttonously working our way through our spread. Eventually our empty plates were cleared away, a sad sign our delicious dinner was coming to an end. We headed back to our hotel, strolling down St. Martin's Lane noting the line for Dishoom had doubled in size, and talking about how incredible the meal was. I've been back home for months, still longingly looking through that aforementioned Dishoom cookbook. It won't be exactly the same, but it'll have to do for now. With some shiny servingware and the right spices I might be able to get a little of that magic at home. read more
Food - I got the black house dal and it was great. Buttery, tasty, and a must get. Whole menu is very vegetarian friendly! Drink - I got the Dishoom margarita. I actually wouldn't call the margarita super unique, but it was very tasty and surprisingly fresh Service - polite and patient Ambiance - my favorite part! I came as a solo diner and felt SO welcome. They say me downstairs in a comfy booth/seat and near other solo diners. Music was amazing, I never felt lonely, and the vibes were buzzy I did have a reservation for 1 person for 5pm. Was surprisingly easy to get when I booked 2 weeks ago, but def make a reservation just in case since at 5pm there was a long queue! read more

This 2-level restaurant is massive and is situated in a perfect location near Covet Garden. The food was amazing. Wish I took pictures but I can highly recommend the Cheese naan. Ruby chicken curry, Lamb chops and Lentils. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was very engaging and attentive. Ask for Rob, if you have a chance to request him (pictured here in my review).... He was fabulous. read more

Dishoom is easily the best Indian restaurant I've ever had. The food was delicious, so full of flavor, and had incredible depth and layers to the flavors. Service was great and attentive, and servers took great care to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurants all have a cool indoor vibe to them that almost transports you back in time in the best way. Dishoom is a top tier restaurant that I will go back to as soon as I can. read more

Dishoom came highly recommended by friends as a must try when in London. They have 3 locations and I tried the one in Covent Garden. The line was horrendous, the first time we went it was going to be about an hour so we left, second time was about 30 minutes so we stayed. When you're near the front of the line they give you their famous house chai, which was MIND BLOWINGLY good. The flavor and warmth of the tea was comforting in the chilly weather. It was so good we asked for seconds. Their "grills" food has no sauce so keep in mind if you're ordering the chicken tikka. We opted for the chicken ruby which is a popular favorite and similar to the chicken tikka masala in the US. The meat was tender and sauce was superb. Definitely a must. We got the masala prawns, also 10 out of 10. And of course no Indian dinner is complete without garlic naan and basmati rice. Wanted to try their paneer but no room in the stomach. Ambiance was cozy and nice. Our server was sooooo awesome. This place definitely work their staff but he was so nice, responsive and made great recommendations. He was so great I had to pay compliments to his manager. Verdict: definitely a must try if in London. Would go during off time to avoid the crazy line. read more

My friend recommended that I try Dishoom when I visit London and now idk who I love more: my friend or Dishoom, because that was a fantastic meal! I had the chef special at the time which was a prawn pathia and the amount of flavor in each bite from the garlic and spices was incredible. The naan was buttery and soaked up everything beautifully too. This was easily one of the best meals I had in London and a must visit! read more
This place has quite the hype, so it was hard to pass up an opportunity to check out one of their locations. I didn't realize that each location has a different theme and we happened to go to the Parisian themed one. The restaurant itself is massive and the kitchen is a machine, pumping out dish after dish so the food is quick. The decor was on theme and a nice experience. The menu isn't the most extensive of Indian fare, but has a good mix. The chutneys that accompany the food were nice and very wide in their flavor profile. We had to get the house daal, as that is what everyone raves about. This was...fine. If I hadn't heard any hype at all I would have thought it was a rather nice dish, but it didn't totally wow me. We initially ordered naan for this but we were advised the roti is better, which was the way to go. We got the cucumber salad, which was refreshing. For meat, we got the lamb chops which were not my favorite. The char of the meat was a bit grainy and the flavoring just overall not the most interesting. Our waiter was very nice but also very busy because, again, this restaurant is a machine. I would probably wander to one of the many other such options in London if in the mood for Indian food next time. read more
This place deserves all of my ratings and all of my money without a doubt. To start off with the service, upon hearing about my partner's banana allergy and knowing that a lot of the grilled dishes were placed on banana leaves, she took some time to specifically check with the chef to see which dishes didn't require banana leaf usage, and reported back to us with extrenuous details. That move along was so wholesome that I was very touched. In terms of food, everything was on point, from the chicken ruby to the veggie samosas to the basmati kheer dessert. Everything was as good as I expected it to be. The chicken ruby had rich makhani sauce that wasn't too overwhelming and contained a good amount of chicken, and I didn't even have enough garlic naan. The basmati kheer dessert was probably some of the best I have ever had anywhere in the world. It wasn't too sweet, and the coconut milk rice and blueberry compôte combination was just heavenly. Other food was amazing as well, but these definitely stood out for me. Other than the food, the house chai was to die for. My partner and I easily had 8-9 cups altogether, and since it was before 6pm, we could do unlimited refills, so we did a couple, and about 10 minutes before 6pm, our server brought us a few additional cups, allowing us to have that one last piece of free experience, which, once again, was just wholesome! Highly recommended, and since today had heavy rain, the fact that the line outside waiting to dine in was still super long on a Wednesday afternoon says a lot about how good this place is. When my partner and I got there at around 4:45pm, the entire basement was already full. By about 6pm, the line basically extended to the end of the block. Please give this place a shot if you are in Covent Garden! read more

Service was great! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with giving recommendations. Ambiance was lovely as well. Mango Lassi was incredibly delicious and refreshing. We absolutely loved the Chaat. The Okra fries were alright; didn't taste much like okra and more like fried batter. The chicken ruby and garlic naan was good, but nothing mind blowing. read more
Indian food is a must when visiting London and Dishoom seemed like the place to be according to other Yelpers and they were right! We tried the Dishoom house chaat, paneer tikka, sheekh kabab (so tender), chicken berry britannia, and the garlic and cheese naan. Everything was a bit spicer than we expected but we should have known better. Everything was good but the paneer was the crowd favorite! The 5-6 dishes were the perfect amount for 3 people. We came for an early dinner on a Monday night and it was pretty busy. There are two floors with several tables. Our party of 3 was seated right away but by the time we left (around 5:30pm) there was a line wrapping around the building. read more

I really wanted this to be a 5 star review based on all of the recommendations I received and the overwhelming amount of raving reviews on here but I really don't think it's worth the hype. My friend and I tried the lamb samosas, okra fries, chicken ruby, murgh malai and the cheesy naan. Overall the food was good, but really lacking spice for being south Asian cuisine. The okra fries were the most flavorful dish out of them all and were perfectly crispy with a nice light batter. The chicken ruby is perfect for the butter chicken lovers as it is thick and creamy but needed more flavor. The Murgh Malai was also nice but again, I had to add sauce for more spice and heat. Everything came out extremely fast but was cold, as if they have all the dishes prepared in the back and bring them out as they're ordered? The ambiance of the restaurant is okay, we were seated on the ground floor but tucked away next to the handicapped toilet and server station. We had rotating servers all night who were attentive but felt like they wanted to rush us out. Maybe if we were seated in the main area of the restaurant I wouldn't have felt like I was in a fast food restaurant? The chai was good, and our server honored the unlimited refills even though we just fell out of the time window which was definitely appreciated. Overall I was satisfied by the meal and service earning the 3 stars, but don't believe the hype, there is much much better Indian and Persian cuisine in the city without the large queue times and more affordable prices. read more
Stopped by early on a Sunday morning for their breakfast! Pretty much right on top of the Covent Garden station, this Dishoom location is very easy to get to. We came here for breakfast right after opening at 9am on Sunday, and the dining room filled up quickly. Reservations recommended. Service was good, although slows as the restaurant gets busy. I ordered the house chai (unlimited refills!), their famous naan with butter, and the big Bombay which was a great, unique take on the traditional English breakfast. Each component of the big Bombay was thoughtfully put together. The masala beans had a nice curry spice. I do wish they had some sort of black pudding which is typical of English breakfast. The house chai was spiced nicely and not too sweet with a spicy kick. Overall, a great meal with the same consistent good service at all Dishoom locations. I appreciate that they're open for Sunday morning breakfast when most of London seems like they are resting. read more

I was worried that Dishoom was going to be one of those touristy chain restaurants that everyone raves about but haves you leaving disappointed. Well, thankfully, the hype around Dishoom is legit and resulted in one of the best Indian meals I have ever had. We arrived without reservations to a long line but only ended up waiting about 30 minutes. While we were in line the restaurant offered free Chai which was nicely milky and creamy with a light spice. Once seated we ordered a variety of dishes to share. I started with a Mango Lassi: Creamy and sweet with a rich mango flavor. I actually ordered a second because it was so addictive. For an appetizer we tried the Pau Bhaji. Soft airy toasted bread soaked up the flavors of mashed mixed veggies including rich tomato and crisp onions with a light spicy kick. We also had the Prawn Pathia. These prawns were meaty and tender with a nice char giving the dish a nice smokey flavor. The rich flavorful tomato masala was perfect for the prawns. The Chicken Berry Britannia had soft savory rice mixed with tender seasoned chicken and sweet cranberries. This was a nice combination of flavors. We also had the Raita. This milky cool yogurt dish was filled with crisp cucumber. A nice dish to cut through the spice of the other dishes. Finally, I always order Garlic Naan which was soft and savory and perfect for soaking up left over sauce. This was a phenomenal super flavorful meal. With so many options for Indian food in London, there is a reason Dishoom is consistently recommended. read more
Super yummy Indian food spot! Our friend raved about this place and took us on a Monday afternoon. There was a line outside but we were told it would be a 10 minute wait (which it was). We got seated downstairs. Large variety of food. I'm basic and got chicken ruby with rice and naan. Hefty pricing, not going to lie, but it was very filling. I was struggling to finish all of it! I could see myself coming here when I want to splurge. Our server, Nisha, was very kind and attentive. We appreciated her giving us recommendations and checking in on us. read more

Anything I write here will not do nearly enough justice to the incredible meal I had at Dishoom. The hype for this restaurant is big and sometimes, that can be a detriment to inflated expectations, but what I ate was even better than anything I could have imagined. First off, make a lunch reservation. The lunch menu is the same as the dinner menu, but they don't take reservations at dinner time. Maybe you like standing in line for fun? Well, I don't. So, I made sure to have a lunch reservation so that I wouldn't have to wait at all. We were immediately seated! We ordered the following items: Chicken Ruby - their version of a butter chicken and my favorite thing we ate Chicken Biryani - a seasoned and flavorful rice dish that came with many pieces of chicken House Black Daal - absolutely delicious. Lentils were cooked so soft that even as a non-lentil fan I enjoyed it. Raita - yogurt dip that paired perfectly with all of the dishes especially to provide a cool to the spices Plain Naan - perfect for slopping up all the sauce on your plate Everything was absolutely incredible. My only complaint was that my stomach couldn't hold even more food. I could've eaten this endlessly it was so delicious! I need to come back to London even if it's just for this meal! read more

While definitely overhyped and expensive, you are paying for the ambiance and service. It was a 15 minute wait on a Thursday night- the long line moves very fast and they give you chai while waiting. (Also outdoor heaters when it's cold). Inside, the restaurant is massive and very loud. I got the chicken makhani, the famous black daal, garlic naan, and my friend got the grilled prawns. The makhani was decent, a bit sweet but wanted more flavor. Very generous portion of chicken. The daal was good, also wish it was more flavorful - maybe my expectations were too high. Garlic naan was too burnt & didn't have enough of a garlic punch. Also wish they were more generous with the naan. Overall, not even close to the best Indian food I've had. Automatic optional 12.5% tip as always. read more

Be prepared for insanely long lines but it's worth it! While we waited to get inside, staff was handing out free shots of their mango lassi and another drink. The line was also managed very well and we were seated in about a half hour. It's beautiful inside and the food was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the house black dal and ruby chicken. I love Dishoom! I haven't had them in awhile and was super stoked to have them on an Edinburgh visit but then decided on Mamas India Cafe so to say I was overdue is an understatement. We'd missed our dinner booking earlier in the evening at a different restaurant and were close enough by to see Crazy for You. I knew Dishoom stayed open late and called at intermission to find out the latest time we could put in an order with the kitchen. I knew we'd make it if we walked quickly right after theatre ended. We arrived by 2230ish and were seated immediately. We had our order in within minutes and food out in no time. The item I ordered this time that really stood out and I'll say is a must, is the house black daal. Sooooo yummy! Order it. We'd just had a biryani the night before so we went chicken tikka , samosas, rice, cheese naan and some sort of wrap my friend wanted (that you don't need to order), washed it all down with my fav- a Kingfisher. Service was outstanding! It's worth mentioning and I rarely if ever mention price because I don't really care much but their price point is noticeably lower than Brigadiers just a little fyi if that proves useful in your dining planning. Love Dishoom! Very satisfying, so grateful to have made it in for a late night dinner on this visit. Exceptional staff. Highly recommend. read more

When my taxi driver dropped me off at Dishoom in Covent Garden, he said to me "I hope you made a reservation". Well I did not have a reservation and the line was crazy long! As I stood outside on my phone, looking for another place nearby to eat, the hostess asked me how many in my group and when I said 1, she told me it would be a 20 minute wait. I was shocked and was determined to have Dishoom since it was highly recommended to me by a friend. I think the wait was closer to 30 minutes and it was freezing outside but the hostess kept coming around offering chai and mint tea to everyone that was waiting. Once I got inside, I was excited because it smelled really good! It is kind of noisy inside so when the waitress came around and made some recommendations to me, I barely heard what she said. I ordered the vegetable samosas to start, that came with 3 different dipping type sauces, all ranging in color and spice level. The samosas were very good and I have no shame in admitting I finished all 3 of them by myself. I also ordered the Chicken Berry Britannia (from their menu: pot of chicken, ginger, garlic, mint, coriander and rice cooked together in the Kacchi style. An homage to Britannia's Chicken Berry Pulao, with cranberries) I also ordered a side of Kachumber (cucumber, onion and tomato in like a Greek yogurt style sauce?) whatever it was made with was so tasty and helped offset a little of the spice from the food. The food itself was not overly spicy but again I only had a few dishes as a solo diner and really wished I could have tried more. I did also order the Dishoom Espresso Martini since I love a good espresso martini and this one did not disappoint! From their menu description: Monsooned Catuai espresso, vivified with Finlandia vodka, chilli liqueur and black walnut bitters. The martini was the finishing touch for me. The perfect drink with a hint of a spicy kick but I enjoyed every sip. I really hope Dishoom takes it global and opens a restaurant in Las Vegas or Los Angeles because I would be there in a second to eat again! A 10/10 experience for me! read more

Great restaurant near Leicester square. They do take reservations but do strongly enourage walking. Decent line around 7pm on a Friday but the wait was no more than 15 mins and they offer chai and mint tea while you wait (the chai has a kick!). Once seated the server was quite attentive and full of recommendations. I settled on bun maska (more chai!) tandoori paneer (so good) and the daal with side of paratha. The paneer was amazing as was the paratha. The daal was solid but if space would try something else (although solid choice if you want daal) and bun maska good but a little too dense. Overall a solid meal and great service, definitely worth a stop! read more

You know a restaurant is doing it right when you ask your friends, "What is a must eat in London?" and they all adamantly reply, "Dishoom!" First of all, this is unlike any Indian place I've been to in the US. This was an upscale and stylish two-level restaurant that reminded me of brunch places in Los Angeles rather than the family-owned restaurants with lunch buffets that I'm accustomed to. Secondly, Dishoom had many dishes that do not show up on my local Los Angeles Indian restaurant's menus. I'm glad that I went with a group and a local who knew what to order because I was overwhelmed by the options. We came around 5PM for as we didn't have a reservation and knew it was a popular place. Good thing we did because by the time we left, there was a lot of people waiting. We got: - PRAWN PATHIA - The prawns were tasty, but this was spicy. I could only eat a couple bites before I called it quits - PANEER ROOMALI ROLL - lightly fried roll with paneer - very good. - OKRA FRIES -- You must get this. Everyone must this. No regrets. - GARLIC NAAN - HOUSE BLACK DAAL - their signature dish, must get - DISHOOM HOUSE CHAAT - very glad to have this; it helped bring the heat down from the prawns, hah. This was also one my favorites - TRADITIONAL CHAI - love me that warm chai Excellent flavors all around. read more
I've heard from many of my foodie friends about Dishoom, and had to give it a try while in London. My oh my, is it matching its reputation. The flavors in everything we ordered were just extraordinary. My favorites were probably the chicken ruby and the absolutely delicious freshly baked naan with dips. The only disappointment during the dinner was that they no longer serve the famous Eton mess. That said, the team was the sweetest and brought out a dessert compliment from the chef for the birthday girl at the table. All in all, definitely worth its reputation, definitely worth multiple repeats, and worth the wait in line (it goes quickly, don't be too intimidated by it). read more

The line into the Dishoom restaurant was long and it was cold. A waitress handed out a warm spicy beverage to us and others waiting in line which gave us a hint of what we were about to experience. We agreed to eat at a low table and chairs and received earlier admission. We are from Hawaii and sometimes sit on the floor, sitting at a low table was not a big deal for us. We ordered okra fries, Tika chicken, and 2 orders of naan bread - 1 with cheese and the other with garlic - to eat with black Daal which is not really black, it was mashed lentils with spices with garlic a dip like consistency, all was so good. We loved every morsel and understand why this restaurant was highly recommended. read more

Dishoom is probably my favorite restaurant in all of London. The food is full of flavor and never disappoints. The interior is warm and cozy. They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait in a long queue. read more
I've always wanted to try Dishoom since last year when I heard it from my friend.. that's why I'm so glad I had a quick detour to London! Normally I go for the chicken tikka but I wanted to try their Chicken Ruby which is kind of like a butter chicken but better!! Either pair it with the basmati rice or the naan bread! You can never go wrong with naan. I asked it to be spicy so they gave me a cup of chilies but I didn't really need it because the chicken ruby already had a kick to it. Naan is amazing -- very buttery! And can I say I love the unlimited house chai? They keep it coming with refills! Service is very attentive, they keep filling you up with water and stuff. I'll definitely come back to their dinner service (which I heard the line can be as long as 2 hours) Ambiance is casual and very lively :) they have a ton of tables downstairs and upstairs as well. I'm glad I didn't have to wait at all during lunch. If ever you're in London, make sure you add Dishoom to your pit stop! read more
Very solid Indian food! The queue starts early, we got there a little before 17:00 and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table for 2. Service was efficient and friendly. It's a very large space, dark and loud. It smells absolutely incredible in the restaurant. Chicken ruby was quite good. The rice was the only thing I didn't enjoy, it was chewy. Allergen-specific menus are available which is very nice and helpful. read more
