3 of us had Dishoom last night, Did not disappoint. Flavors were amazing ! The red ruby chicken is so good. All the food we had was delightful. I've more down home authentic but this was still right up there. If you love Indian food you will like dishoom.
This is our second time at Dishoom, first time we went for breakfast and this time was dinner. Can hands down say it was the most authentic food I've had since India. Food: extremely flavorful and delicious. The spice levels did not disappoint. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. Cocktails: okay, would be more fun if they were more unique. Ambiance: this place was packed even when we had our reservation at 21:30. Would definitely recommend a reservation, not sure how long the wait would have been.
This is a chain but the provide good food and equally good service! Reservations are tough because they are always booked and busy! How ever if you are a smaller party and dont mind sitting in their bar area you can get a seat without a reservation. I ordered the chicken tikka with rice and some samosas as an appetizer. Now they weren't my favorite samosas I've ever had. But they were good and came with 3 different sauces. The chicken tikka awesome very flavorful and tasty! It also came out quickly! This place is a must visit if you are ever in the UK.
I ate here solo, just to soak it all in... the aroma of spices, the buzzing energy of families and friends around me, the feeling of being fully present in the room. I ordered the lamb chops and paired them with the chicken biryani, and honestly... chef's kiss. The lamb chops were crispy on the outside, juicy inside, perfectly balanced with a tangy kick. You can taste the care in the marinade and the grill. Two generous chops, finished with a Kashmiri chilli sauce that really delivers. The chicken berry biryani was just as good (fragrant rice, tender chicken, and little pops of sweetness from the cranberries that worked beautifully!). I also had a mango fennel lassi, which was refreshing and light, and a perfect complement to the meal. To end, I took a chance on the chocolate pudding with chili. I was skeptical, but it completely won me over: warm, rich, and the texture was... mMmm so very seductively smooth. It was nothing short of perfection. And not surprisingly, the entire staff were amazing throughout--super kind, super attentive, and very on point about checking in just enough without hovering. I've been to other Dishoom locations, but this one really stands out to me personally. Not too busy, still glam, and just a really lovely place to spend time. A standout meal and experience from start to finish!
Delicious! The menu has a nice amount of items to choose from with a fun twist on some traditional names. I ordered garlic naan, chicken chili, black daal! Everything tasted very well made and nicely spiced. My only complaint is the naan was a bit burnt. This order was for carry out and was made fresh! I'd definitely order the black daal again. Can't speak to the service because I did not dine in. The restaurant itself was lovely and felt very inviting.
THE HYPE IS REAL. With one night left in London and zero Indian food in my system, I had to finally answer the question every Brit kept asking me: "Have you been to Dishoom yet?" On a random Thursday, the wait was an hour but no complaints on my end. My friend and I grabbed seats at the bar and ordered Tamarind Mezcalitas. Did I expect to find an actually great mezcal cocktail in London? Absolutely not. Am I thrilled it happened at an Indian restaurant? Absolutely yes. The vibe aims to evoke 1960s Bombay Iranian cafés. I can't speak to that firsthand, but the closest comparison I can offer is: Bombay meets Bourbon Street. A 1920s Indian speakeasy. Live jazz floated down from the balcony, filling the room with warmth and energy. After conferring with our server, we landed on a few dishes to share: Lamb Chops: Exquisite. Perfectly cooked with a spiced crust and plenty of meat. Makhmali Paneer: A savory marshmallow in the best way possible; charred outside, cloud-soft inside. It genuinely redefined what is possible with paneer for me. Chicken Ruby: Dishoom's take on butter chicken--and hands down the best version I've ever had. I didn't know butter chicken could taste like this. Chocolate Chai: Think Mexican hot chocolate, but less sweet and perfect with food. I didn't plan on ordering one... and ended up having two. I don't know when I'll be back in London, but I do know that when Dishoom opens in NYC, getting a seat will be nearly impossible. And deservedly so.
VEGAN REVIEW Absolutely believe the hype! Amazing vegan English breakfast with an Indian/Iranian cafe twist. Great unlimited oat milk chai. Lovely ambiance. Servers work as a team, you won't be neglected even when it's really busy. Went to multiple locations & it was consistently delicious!
This place was super yummy! The line went outside for quite some time as it's a super popular place but they managed to seat 2 of us at a 6 people table for an hour or so before another group comes in so I was extremely grateful! We only waited around 20 minutes which was great on their end because they are super great and attentive with seating walk ins. Super chic and glamorous I felt like I transported into luxury. We ordered a few things from the fish appetizer (amritsari), side of greens, the special biryani and the ruby chicken curry! I also had a very yummy old fashioned. I thought the amritsari was really yummy but it gave my friend the runs for the bathroom cause it's quite spicy. The side of greens were definitely needed as a long day of London travel didn't really consist of much greens. The chef special biryani wow'd us in term of how large it was I definitely would say bring an entire family to share as it was quite salty and filled with carbs so I would say I had regrets of ordering side of rice. The ruby chicken curry was my favorite and it definitely tasted amazing with that side of rice. I can't wait to come back again and try other things on the menu!
I was seriously craving Indian food and my husband found Dishoom. We were too late for a reservation, so we decided to try our luck walking in and wow, the line was out the door! But don't worry they've got a system down. You get a buzzer and can wait at the bar, where we grabbed drinks and apps while vibing in the dim, vintage, speakeasy-style interior. The wait was about 25 minutes, which flew by with the lively atmosphere. When we sat down, we ordered: * Lamb Shank Biryani * Chicken Ruby * House Black Daal * Cheese Naan The biryani came with a flaky roti crust, and our waitress even offered to peel it back for my video . The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and every bite had meat no skimping here! The black daal was creamy, savory perfection, and paired well with everything on the table. And the Chicken Ruby? A rich, flavorful curry that had my husband talking about taking a bowl of the sauce home. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. We'll definitely be back next time we are in London. Bonus: for every meal ordered, Dishoom donates a meal to a child in need. Love when great food supports a great cause
We knew we wanted to eat here when we were in London, so fortunately we reserved. We got our table right away even though there was a queue. The service was fantastic which is a feat itself when you think of how busy it is. A well oiled machine. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Ruby Chicken, Grilled Greens and Tandoori Chaat. All were amazing. We loved our experience here. Would come again and highly recommend
Went here based on YouTube travel videos. Also, made a reservation ahead of time because of its popularity. If you like spicy food, this is the place for you. We've had spicy food in Southern California, but in comparison to how it was here, what we had before was toned down. There's no holding back at this restaurant. I wondered why the portions seemed small and just contributed it to European culture until I realized the food is so spicy that we could only eat so much in one sitting. The servers were friendly enough, although I wish they had left the pitcher of water on our table instead of us waiting for them to refill our cups. Better yet, milk might have been better. As for the restaurant itself, it's a mix of retro and modern. The bathrooms were really retro, like the toilets had the pull chain and the sink had the 2 different faucets for hot and cold. It's a nice restaurant, just know that eating the food here is like being on an episode of "Hot Ones".
A must-visit when in London. Loved the flavorful dishes, attentive service and lively atmosphere on my first visit to London at Dishoom Carnaby, and recently visited again with my entire family (ages 4 months to 67 years old) to Dishoom Kensington and everyone enjoyed it just as much.
Was able to make a reservation here earlier in the day for dinner. Dishoom is one of the most popular Indian restaurants in London. This one is located in Kensington. First off, the staff are so genuinely friendly and helpful. We arrived early and were quickly seated. For our party of 3, we ordered the Nalli Nihari Biryani: a rice, lamb, and lots of spices covered by a puff pastry. My description doesn't do this dish justice as it was so flavorful. I don't like lamb, as it usually has some gamey taste. There was none of that here. It was tender and so flavorful. We also ordered Tandoori Chaat, which had pineapple and sweet potatos. So many flavors and it all went well together. The chicken tikka was good and came out as expected. The chicken ruby was fantastic, and had so much flavor, with just a bit of spicy kick. We thought there was going to be so much leftover, but between the three of us, we almost polished off everything. This easily was the best Indian food that I have had.

I'm not one to leave reviews but Dishoom was absolutely top notch! Maybe it's the two cocktails I had (India Gimlet + Mezcal Irani Margarita) while I waited (well worth the wait), but I had to share my experience. I'm honestly glad I had time to enjoy the cocktails because they were both fantastic. I chatted with a few people in the Permit Room, and their recommendations did not disappoint. I was dining by myself, but I ordered enough for two anyway. My waitress was extremely helpful in advising the right choices, so I ended up with the okra fries to start, broccoli chili salad, chicken tikka with the house black daal, and garlic naan. I left completely stuffed, but I wouldn't cut a single thing, and if I could do it again I'd do it the same. Except I'm sure everything else is just as good, so maybe I'd try something new! Do not hesitate - eat here. read more
Holy moly, this place was amazing! The ambiance was great and the staff was so friendly and efficient! Seriously, it's worth noting just how nice every staff member we encountered was. The food was incredible and the drinks were inventive and delicious! If you like espresso martinis and spice, you must try their spin on an espresso martini. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This place is great for date night or just to have a nice meal with friends. Enjoy! read more

Worth the hype! We waited for quite some time to be seated without a reservation and somehow had a great time even while waiting. Hats off to the staff for really making sure guests are receiving great service throughout their entire visit. The atmosphere is like an elegant speakeasy from back in time. The servers will guide you through ordering to make sure you order enough food for your party. My favorite dish was the chicken ruby! read more
Came here on Thursday with a party of 3 and a reservation around 6:00pm. We were seated promptly. We ordered A LOT for our little group. To share we got the: Vegetable Samosas (£5.70) Okra Fries (£5.90) Chicken Ruby (£13.70) Paneer Tikka (£9.90) Gunpowder Potatoes (£6.90) House Black Daal (£7.90) Cheese Naan (£4.70) Garlic Naan (£3.90) 2 orders of rice (£3.90 each) Despite the large order we finished almost everything. Portion sizes are on the smaller side. That being said, I'd order everything we got again. The highlights include the Okra Fries, Chicken Ruby, House Daal and the Cheese Naan. Service: Unfortunately our waitress was not good. I think she was new? She had forgotten almost everything we ordered, and by the time we wanted to bill we hadn't seen her in almost 30 mins and the host had to check us out. Definitely will be back! It was so good that I ordered their cookbook and have since made a few recipes. See you soon, Dishoom! read more

This place is really nice, live music and very loud inside. I mostly enjoyed the drinks and they do have a few vegan options available. My only complaint is that the vegan options did not have a mild option and therefore the food was too spicy for me to enjoy. All in all we had a great time and the staff was very and helpful. read more

Ok when my daughter suggested we eat here I was skeptical and didn't think I would really like it. Well I was wrong and had some of the best tasting food ever. So many flavors and choices to choose from and the place was really neat the way it was set up. Great ambiance and service too. Don't let the idea of this type of food fool you into thinking you won't like it because you will. read more

Some of the best and most unique Indian food I've had. Everything was delicious. We had chicken tikka roll, Kensington special biryani, chicken ruby and a garlic and cheese naan. If you haven't gotten a garlic and cheese naan together before I highly recommend it. Next time we are in London we will definitely make a point to go back and eat here. read more

Keema Per Eedu was a little salty so I didn't finish it. The only thing I like is the house chai. I'll give it a five stars. It's about 20 minutes wait till I had my food served. The waitress was nice. The place was busy and kind of loud. A family friendly restaurant. read more
Almost every person I asked for food recommendations in London said to come here. Many said that this was the best Indian food that they have ever had. So I needed to come here. I didn't have reservations beforehand, because they were all taken. EXPERIENCE We walked in on a weekday for quite early dinner. They had us sit in the waiting area in the front. We did not order anything while waiting, it was hard to get the wait staffs attention. We waited not too long also, maybe 20-30 minutes. We got seated at a table for 4, when we were only a party of two. It was a small wait, but once the food started coming, it all came quickly. Midway into our meal, a more senior manager came and told us we needed to move tables. A reservation added an additional person to their party last minute and needed our table or something. So they moved our part of two to a booth that could fit 6 people. They transported all of our food and said that we could get a dessert and a drink on the house. It was kind of inconvenient to move, and not sure how we ended up with a bigger table, but the complimentary food did help. FOOD (5/5) House Chaat - Amazing. Just as expected. Very flavorful. (4/5) Masala Prawn - Juicy. The charring on them added a lot of flavor. Great with the sauces provided. (5/5) Matar Paneer - Super creamy. I'm bias because I love this dish so much. (4/5) Black Daal - Very heavy and creamy. Still yummy! Expected. (5/5) Garlic Naan - How can you go wrong with garlic naan?? (3/5) Chicken Tikka - A bit dry. Not very unique. DRINK (5/5) Rose Cardamom Lassi - To be honest, I think I've only had mango lassi before. So this was novel to me. I liked the floral rose contrasting with the spice of cardamom. Delicious, creamy, and refreshing! (5/5) Chai - This was really good. Decent portion size. A MUST try. DESSERT (4/5) Basmati Kheer - This was not a traditional kheer. It was more gelatinous, like a flan of sorts, it held its shape. The flavor was good, just not in the texture we expected. OVERALL The food was delicious, maybe not the most authentic, but definitely gluttonous. It is a tad on the pricier side. I think the service was mediocre. We were asked to move mid meal, and after the move it felt as though we were not as attentive. The ambiance was nice, I was hoping that on the balcony there would be live music, maybe on the weekends it happens. I agree with all of my friends that you should come here if looking for Indian food. Just know its going to be busy and a bit chaotic. read more

It was so worth the wait to try this place! We went around 7:30pm and had a 40min wait, which was expected. Thankfully they had a bar area where you can order drinks and wait to be seated for food. They have wide array of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, so there is something for everyone. The restaurant was spacious but very busy, but once we tried the food, we could see why. Everything was full of flavor, and I especially loved the bhel! The portion size of each dish is not large, and these dishes are definitely meant for sharing, so expect to order many dishes to share. read more

WOW! This is a must have visit. We loved every dish we ordered and ate every last bite. Definitely check this place out if you are in the Kensington area. The restaurant was beautiful - 1920s decor and lovely music. The service was fantastic. The food came out so quickly and we were checked on, given great recommendations and left happy. read more

Listen up folks; if you're taking a trip to London, you MUST muuuust must dine at Dishoom. It's a must, Boo thang! Hands down one of the best and most memorable meals that I had while I was in London. And trust me, it will be just as memorable for you too. But why, you ask? Well, let me just go on ahead and break this little situation on down for you! Ambience is of the essence, and the ambience at Dishoom is simply mesmerizing. Don't be surprised if you feel your eyes twinkling. Just know that this place really IS captivating. The décor is of beautiful Art Deco influence with gorgeous lighting and charming chandeliers. There are two floors of beauty inside with the second floor housing a small stage for their live jazz performers. Seriously, this restaurant is super stunning! Okay, okay... enough about the décor. Let's talk about what really matters here... the food. All hail the CHICKEN RUBY! Just DO it. Please. This is one of their signature dishes and after indulging in it, I can absolutely see why. Their chicken ruby is one of the most fragrantly delicious Indian food dishes that I have EVER had from anywhere. I have yet to go to India, but this dish single handedly beats any and all Indian food dishes that I have ever eaten in the states. Period. The robust spices, flavors, and creamy texture just... did something to my soul. It's almost kind of indescribable to truly describe which is why YOU must try this dish for yourself. Other honorable food mentions include their garlic cheese naan and prawn koliwada. Both were incredibly tasty and plentiful as far as portions are concerned. The garlic cheese naan was warm, fluffy, and stuffed with delicious melted cheese. The prawn koliwada consists of juicy jumbo prawns that are deep fried to a crispy golden brown. The accompanying green dipping sauce makes for the compliment to this dish. Their drinks are amazing as well! I really enjoyed their "Colaba Colada" which is a unique spin on the classic pina colada. Basically, the food was phenomenal with no questions asked. I also have to touch on the stellar service that I received from the moment that I walked in. This is a busy establishment and you may even have to wait for a seat at the bar. I waited for about 20 minutes for a table on an early weekday evening and it was so worth it. My server was informative, charming, and super engaging. He knew exactly what to recommend based on my preferences. I will say that he got a little pushy as far as offering up several different drinks, dishes, and desserts for me to order but I know that's just part of the job. Don't feel pressured to order more than you know that you can handle. The portions are large and filling here so you don't need to order a lot to be satisfied. Just know that this place is pretty pricey too. It was about £40 for one not including tax and tip. BUT... for the entire experience, I'd say that it's totally worth a visit. The live jazz music is like the icing on the cake! Dishoom is a MUST if you're coming to London. read more
One of the best foods I've had in London! Although it is on the pricier end, I would say that it is so worth it. Everything was packed with flavor, but also balanced each other out. The lamb was so tender and the garlic naan paired perfectly with the curry. The service was also AMAZING. Everybody was smiling and just seemed happy in general. While waiting for your table, you get to stand in the bar area where they serve you drinks and little snacks. I would totally recommend if you are in London and are looking for a nice dinner. read more

When in London, eat where the locals eat and across the board a visit to London is incomplete without a visit to Dishoom. We are still in London, have been twice, and will try and go one more time. One of the best restaurants that you can absolutely guarantee a fantastic meal. From the moment we walked in we were treated like incredibly special guest. The guy who sat us (long wavy hair, beautiful smile) is such a valuable addition, his joy set the mood for our evening. As always, and it seems in every Dishoom restaurant, it was packed, but that made no difference. The restaurant is like a well oiled machine with everything working to perfection. We started with veg samosa's very good. Then chicken Ruby Murray, Murgh Malai, garlic naan, and rice. All were excellent. I wish we had ordered one more main, although we were stuffed, you always leave wanting more. Ruby Murray, the chicken melted in our mouths. The sauce was superb, needed more heat, but my husband can't take too much heat and our waiter anticipated that and brought 3 more sauces to our table, pointing out the spiciest out to me. Our waiter's favorite dish is the Murgh Malai, he said he has it daily, it is chunks of chicken thighs grilled to perfection, excellent and very different than what I would have ordered, grateful for his suggestion. I have gone on and on but the restaurant deserves it. While you are there, walk the area, it is half open air mall and half closed. Filled with restaurants, shops, and very upscale. Open air area along the Thames, seating, gorgeous. And last...Our son and his friends joined us for the beginning of our trip and he insisted we take the Uber boat. Right on the Thames with many pick ups and drop off's we took it two stops last night from Battersea to Chelsea Harbor and the cost was £1.32 each. To get to Dishoom we took a taxi from Chelsea Harbor and it cost £26. Busy with traffic. Take the boat! read more
We went in around 5:45pm and the wait was 45mins. We waited in the bar. The drinks here was so good and the wait time went fast! After we get to the table, the waitress was awesome! She went through the menu and explained well. We decided to get small plates and some dishes so we can share. Everything was so tasty! There was live music (like Jazz) and it made it even more beautiful. I'm sure to go back again! read more
