One of my easiest purchase not only Alan gave me a good price; they also made sure I was happy with the install and made sure everything was aligned perfectly. Alan never up sell me with anything. Came in with a used camper shell I got off Craigslist, needed a new brake light and some work on a window seal. They were able to address both issues then and there, cheaply and quickly. They were honest and not looking to rip me off, I was under the impression I'd need to replace the window seal, but rather than sell me a new seal unnecessarily, they opted to fix what was wrong! LONG LIVE THE HONEST FAMILY OF HARD WORKING BLUE COLLAR FOLK... I went by "Discount Camper Shells" after reading a few of the reviews here on yelp. I talked to Alan about fixing the locking mechanism and lifters on my Tonneau cover. His attitude from the outset was "can do". He walked over looked at my truck for a couple of minutes, walked into his service bay and walk back to me stating "I got the parts I can do it". It is refreshing to see the simplicity of someone that doesn't try to sell you anything or give you a bunch of mumbo-jumbo... I told Alan that I had another appointment and would be back within the hour he said with a friendly smile "That's fine, I'll be here". When I returned he fixed my truck within 15 to 20 minutes and I was on my way for a very reasonable price. I say all this because I have gone in the past to have my Tonneau covers parts repaired at the place where I purchased the Tonneau cover "Fuller truck covers" in Fullerton. I have been charged over twice the price that Alan charged me and it's taken three times as long to do the work!!! The other reviewers here on yelp are correct as Alan and his father run this tiny shop in Long Beach on the corner of Spring Street and Orange. I kick myself because I've passed by this shop a number of times and have never gone in. Now that I've experienced the genuine people these guys are and the service level that they have given I will be returning there and recommending it to other people that are in need of a truck cover. As I was waiting for my truck to be finished, several people came in to their yard to thank Alan again for the truck cover he installed on their vehicles and his kind way of being just a really good service guy. (This to me, is next to unheard of in this town or pretty rare at least)!!! I am a bit of a wrench turner myself and when I see someone out there that gives good customer service with an honest attitude I want to make sure that I let as many people as possible know where they should go to get that level of service. If you are thinking about a truck cover I hope you go by and give these guys a chance... And no I do not know them other than today's customer experience. I recently picked up a Snuglid tonneau cover used off of Craigslist. Everything was there...except the wedges that insert into the factory rails and allow the Snuglid frame to be bolted into the bed. These little guys are hard to find! I arrived at the Discount Camper Shells website thanks to Google and spoke to Alan Sims. He was able to decipher what I was talking about (a confusing part to describe unless you really know your camper parts.) I had a couple issues with the back right window mounts being broken and the back window not closing easily. I came here and I was leaving about ten minutes later with a fixed window and a back window that closes like it should. Just acquired a 2007 Lincoln Mark LT as a company truck and it came already equipped with a Snugfit cover. However the locking mechanism was busted so I took it to these guys and they were super helpful. Alan got me in right away and began fixing the lock. It only took him 30 mins and during that time we got to talking and I found out that he's half of a father /son team who own the shop and have a combined experience of over 50 years of camper shell and overall truck knowledge. Alan is a straight-up good dude and only charged me $50 for the fix. I ended up calling Allan Simms who is the son of the original owner of Discount Camper. He did not only provided me with an excellent explanation over the different models of Snugtop to give me additional idea, but also extended his services to me by adding both of what I wanted to be included to my choice of model with a very low price and just $100 deposit. My installation time only lasted for 1 hour and a half, lesser than 2 hours window that Allan promised. This place is absolutely amazing. Alan and his team of employees have always exceeded my expectations. Genuinely kind, helpful, resourceful, and incredibly detail orientated. I've had parts fail on my snugtop over the last decade, and Discount Camper Shells have gone so far as to personally pick up necessary parts from Snugtop directly. If you have an issue with your shell, don't "live with it" these guys will make it better than new. I always feel the prices are quite reasonable. I have loved some of the accessories I've bought like Yakima Racks, an easy tailgate lift, etc. So few companies believe in customer service, but this company does, I always feel like a VIP.
