This place was recommended to me by my mechanic for electrical issues my mother in law was having with her older toyota highlander hybrid. Toyota dealer was looking for $500 just to attempt to diagnose it. Then, they wanted another few hundred bucks after they couldn't figure it out. She ended up getting it towed from the unscrupulous folks at the Toyota dealer to Wayne electric. They charged her $250 to take it apart and ultimately fixed for that cost. They weren't sure what they did that fixed it but it's been nearly a year and it's still working fine. I then took my 2002 Toyota Sequoia there. It was having all kinds of issues including the cluster not working. They got the cluster replaced and working along with a few other minor electrical issues. The cluster eventually broke a few months later. They replaced it for free and it's been working since. My wife's aunt took her Dodge caravan that wasn't looking. They repaired it without replacing the parts but recommended replacing the actuator which she's in the process of doing. The bottom line is these guys know what they are don't and are honest and ethical. 5 stars all the way. I was having some electrical issues with a backhoe I own and operate which I could not figure out on my own for a very long time. Very thorough job of looming up, repairing and tying up some of the wiring harness on the machine so I should never have an issue again. I dropped off a pair of outdrive tilt trim motors to be checked out and serviced if NEEDED. After about a week with no contact from shop I called to inquire the status of said motors because I was going put of town for a week. I spoke to the manager Mark he informed me the motors were apart on technicians work station. I asked, " I thought you were going to call to give rebuild price" mark the manager went off on me, " I don't think we are the shop for you, come and get your "SHIT". Mind you both motors were functioning when I brought them in I wanted them TESTED they were working Uninstalled, but under load nothing. Mark was very UNPROFESSIONAL. The worst service I've EVER had. I did customer service all my life I can judge it. I brought a brand new alternator in to have it modified for use with a external regulator. I included the documentation for the regulator in detail. They called me to pick it up Got there and Don tells me it was a cheap Chinese knock off. I didn't know. But all I asked give me enough info to make it work with my regulator. HE COMPLETELY REFUSED TO HELP ME OUT!!! Anybody else would have had a little empathy. It Don. He flat out refused. I'm surprised they didn't call me and tell me in advance that the alternator was not what it what it seemed to be. Never EVER go here EVERRRRRRR. read more

I had my Saturn Vue towed to Wayne Electric on a recommendation from one of their competitors as the competitor was too busy to help me. I dealt with Steve Dickson who let me know my alternator had failed. I had them replace the alternator. Upon driving the vehicle the same electrical problem presented itself. I spoke to Steve who said to bring the car back. It took a while to resolve the problem because the technician had difficulty replicating the problem. (It seems you can't track down the source of an electrical problem if it is not happening.) However, they persevered and were able to observe the problem and trace the fault and fix it. Would I return to Wayne Electric for service in the future? Without hesitation! Would I recommend this shop to my friends and family? Absolutely! read more

Dishonest company. Even though we have an account with them they decline my warranty. They wanted to see the actual paper receipt regardless that they can see in their system that I have warranty and purchased the product there. Will take my business somewhere else I don't need your approval to take my business elsewhere. First thing you said was I need a receipt. Then later you stated that it was probably out of warranty anyway. Did not want to bother to check regardless of having a business account there. Had my 2004 Suburban set up with a a dual battery system here. Work was done extremely well. All the wiring is nice and tidy. Looks like it came from the factory this way. System works great as well no more worrying about run down batteries when camping in the back country with the family. Was not cheap but the price was fair for what I was requesting. The worst service I have ever been given! Called before dropping off my starter and was told that the price would be between $95 and $165 to rebuild my starter. I was then told that they could tear down the starter on site and give me a quote in person. The following morning I went to drop off my starter, nothing was said and I was given a ticket. Later that day when I went to pick up my starter, I was given an invoice for $246. To my surprise, I kindly noted that when I called the day prior I was told it would be between $95-$165. The owner immediately raised his tone to a yell and began accusing me of being confused with another shop and that they don't do any work for $95 and that they never give quotes over the phone. I patiently waited for him to finish to explain that they are the only shop I called and that I'm certain this is what was said. I even noted that I'm pretty certain it was him who I spoke to. He again began yelling telling at me that he knows 100% that what I said didn't happen. I explained that I couldn't believe he was calling me a liar. He then offered to take apart the starter and put all of my old parts back in. If he would have just respectfully said that there was a misunderstanding, I would have happily paid the $246. Instead he accuses me of getting my lines crossed. Unbelievable! I hope people start taking their work somewhere else. Guys like this think because they are the only game in town that they can behave however they want. Vote with your $ and don't give your money to a business that doesn't respect their customers. I'm not some Karen that's upset over a bad experience. This guy is terrible! read more

I seldomly write negative reviews, however this particular business I feel let me down in multiple ways. Came here in Mid April to replace a high powered alternator for a bus that I have paid close to $1500.00 parts N labor, NOT CHEAP. Everything went down south this past friday July 14th . I expected way better than that for that price and for them to back there work and PRODUCTS . THEY DO NOT, if you are looking for value and product Longevity go else where. I had to pay close to $400.00 for them to fix it, they did not tell me about the charging extra before the fact. They just said we do not cover burned alternators but let me see what I can do. Surprise surprise you owe us $385.00 we do not back up our products. They asked also if I left anything on to drain the batteries I said why would I ?? The alternator was smoking last friday and lost a lot business because of that . I never touched or drained it , just a defective part . The only reason why they got 2 stars instead of 1 star is because Steve is a really nice guy I know he does not call the shots. These guys will rip you off. They had my car for over 3 months trying to fix the fuel gauge on my 1959 Cadillac. Called them every couple weeks and they just give me the run around I think because I'm a woman. Finely got the car back and the fuel gauge still does not work and that cost me $300. Brought in an expensive alternator to get repaired. The staff was real helpful, fixed it quick for a good price. Alternator works fine now. Update: my alternator didn't seem to be charging right so I brought it back, they ended up keeping my bronco for a few hours and discovered my pulley belt wasn't tight enough. They fixed it and didn't charge me anything...mind you I'm the one who installed it. Awesome service. Alternator works great now. read more

So my story is a bit long but worth hearing. I came in with a 14 year old alternator off a Catalina 350 sailboat. Mark confirmed it had failed, I had noticed my RMP meter was non functional. I purchased a new 12V 65A Premium OEM which is how it was written on the receipt and left to install. No matter what I did I just couldn't get it to fit so I came back the next day and told Mark. Mark said it was the same size and even pulled out my old one he had in the back and put them side to side and said see, they are the same. So feeling like an idiot I went back and tried again, however Mark had given me the old one and as I looked closely it became obvious that they were not exactly the same. I took pictures videos and measurements and went back. Mark was very helpful and said that they could put the new alternator in the mount piece of the old one which I thought was a good solution. The install worked and thought that was it. A few weeks later I sailed to Catalina Island. Mind you the batteries were topped off from my shore powered battery charger and were good to go, I ran the engine for maybe 45 minutes to get outside the breakwater and the cut the engine and sailed the remainder of the way. Upon arrival I started the engine one more time to anchor, maybe taking 30 minutes. I run an Auder Bauber reefer and some millamp lights. Early in the morning we decide to visit Avalon so I started the engine and pulled up anchor. About 20 minutes in to the motoring over I began to smell a plastic burning smell coming from inside the boat. I went down below and inspected the engine and could clearly see the alternator was smoking so I immediately turned of the engine and began a very long sail back home. I removed the alternator and brought it back to Mark. I called back and asked for an update and he reported yep it's fried, just like your last one. He said I have a problem electrically with my boat, either a short/ground or bad batteries. I tried to explain that I'm pretty sure that's not the case. He basically berated me stating that he has customers saying the same thing all the time and they don't listen. Well I listened to everything he said and appreciated it however he definitely turned dark and ugly. Anyway he said it would take a few days and they would re-wind it. I called a few days later asking about it and it wasn't done and I asked if I was going to have to pay for this. He said of course you do and again went on a rampage of how I shouldn't even come to this shop because e was just trying to help, etc, etc. Well I told him I'm an honest man and if there is fault with my boat I would pay for it. He seemed to calm down and said he would just give it for free which again I said I promised him if the problem was my boat I would pay for it. Well I had a California certified electrician fir MCDCP an IEEE board member of DC power come and do a complete survey of my boat. A conductance measurement was taken after a 24 hour discharge of my total 12V system which was carefully monitored for discharge and shown to only discharge down to 12.8 VDC which for AGM is at least 80%. We measure for resistance and grounds on all wiring to starter, DC panel and batteries. Everything was exceptional as expected. The alternator was installed and tested for over 45 minutes at the dock and was performing perfectly, we videoed and took pictures of all the work performed even watching the Fluke meter show 16.3 amps when charging the one dedicated starter AGM battery and then when switching over to the house back of over 200 amp hour capacity the charge rate went to 56.4 amps. Within 10 minutes the amp rate began to drop as it should. So all seems to be well, however I did notice a little bit of smoking when it first came up to the 56.4 amp but within a couple of minutes it went away. I was told by an automotive specialist this isn't that unusual for a new rewound alternator. My only concern is will it overheat again? Was the transplanting of the new 65amp alternator into something that previously was a 51amp mount make a difference? Will Mark be pissed off again? I think I did learned a lesson to buy a true OEM alternator from Westerbeke Universal at the high retail cost of 300 dollars, verses the previously fried, Frankenstein one that took 6 different trips back and forth 200 dollar one from Mark. If it fries again I have certified data that it is not the fault of my boat and will take Waynes company to small claims court just on the principle of customer service. Buyer beware. read more

I dropped my 71 mustang off on May 3rd because it wouldn't start. I had to call every 3 days to check in on my car to get an update on the work that needs to be done. They told me they would call me and let me know by the end of the day every time I've called to ask, never got a call. 2 weeks later they tell me they have to switch a distributor out. That job takes literally 2 hours max!! Now it's almost been a month, car is still sitting outside with the hood opened, getting my engine wet and rusty, and I still haven't received one phone call updating me on the progress of my car. I've been up there twice and you can see that other projects ave priority, but why? Poor service, they probably do good work, but I wouldn't know because they haven't gotten anything done. My advice is to live up to your word. Don't tell customers you'll do something and it doesn't get done. And treat everyone the same. I've been there twice and my car is the only muscle car I've seen that stays outside, even if it has rust. read more

Wayne's just fixed the cruise control in my 04 Suburban. Difficult problem, took 2 days, a short in the high mounted tail light! Who would have thought? I chose Wayne Electric because of their reviews and even with a simple webpage, I liked that they seemed eager to help "even with parts for the do-it-yourself'r". I called first and asked if they could put brushes in my starter and I could pick it up right away being on a serious time crunch. "Mark" explained that they weren't set up for that. So I told him I'd come for the parts. When I got there just after the doors opened an employee sent a tech to look at my starter. I explained that I needed brushes asked the tech if he might be able to break free the 4 flat blade screws on the side of the case and that we could pay for the labor and brushes. He said he'd have to ask his boss. That's when things went downhill. "Mark" came out and said "I talked to you on the phone, i can sell you brushes" He grabbed the starter and walked to the back returning a couple minutes later with two pairs of brushes, tossed them on the counter and says $20 bucks. I handed him a twenty and he shoved it in his shirt pocket and walked away. My brother and I were speechless. We climbed back in my jeep and both said, wow! That guy was a jerk nearly at the same moment. I've seldom been treated with such disrespect and rudeness from a business that claims to be the place to go for great service and "parts for the do-it-yourself'r". This simply isn't the case with Mark. He seemed put out and angry that I would ask for service. I don't write many reviews, and when I do they're mostly praising businesses.... But this needed to be said. I won't be returning to Wayne Electric, nor will I ever recommend their business.
