I brought my 2015 Silverado to them for a third-party transmission diagnostic after being told by a dealership that I needed an approximately $11,000 transmission replacement. Bill and his team took the time to properly inspect the truck and determined that my transmission was fine. The actual problem was a misfire on cylinder #8, which turned out to be a simple and affordable repair. Bill was incredibly nice, straightforward and helpful throughout the entire process. There was no upselling, no scare tactics, just an honest diagnosis and clear communication about what my truck actually needed. They checked/tested it out, called me back to pick the truck up. The mechanic told me my transmission was fine and the reason that my truck was reacting like it was, was because the cat was clogged. I brought in my '06 RSX Type S to get a new clutch and flywheel installed. I bought an ACT…read morelightweight flywheel and an Exedy Stage 1 clutch and brought it to them. I was also having issues with the clutch hydraulics (bought this car used, love it to death but don't like the way it was previously maintained). Upon investigation, they found that the master and slave cylinders were getting stuck, and they replaced them with reasonably priced parts. When they got to removing the old clutch and flywheel, they sent me a picture of the shoddy workmanship that the previous person who worked on the clutch did. They showed me that a bolt was barely screwed in! I can tell by the condition of the bolt that it had been like that for a long time. The diligent mechanics also noticed worn bushings and replaced them. All issues were evidenced with pictures so you know they're not fooling you. I previously worked as a mechanic so nothing gets past me when it comes to my vehicles being worked on. These technicians are diligent and the labor rate is very fair; you get what you pay for, in a good way. I immediately took a drive down PCH to Huntington Beach to begin the clutch break-in process. Everything feels perfect and I am happy with the work completed. I will be returning to Big Q for all my major service needs. As will my mom, whom also previously brought her car in for service.

They said they could and gave me a timeline for working on the vehicle that matched my needs. While I appreciate them getting me in on short notice, they consistently over-promised and under-delivered on when they would be able to work on my vehicle. They were able to diagnose a couple of leaks that they thought were the problem and sent me photos to show me what they were looking at. In the past when I've left my car at this shop for work they sent over a detailed estimate before starting the work, but this time I only received the verbal estimate over the phone. I drive an old car, which isn't worth much, and I did let the person know that I wasn't interested in investing more in repairs than the vehicle is worth. As it was, the two leaks were just over $1K to fix, and I OK'd the work to begin. After fixing the first two leaks, they then came back and told me there was a third leak, which would require a more major repair to the transmission and they would have to have their transmission person (who wasn't there that weekend) send me an estimate the next day. While I understand that it's plausible that the third leak wasn't something they could have originally diagnosed, it felt a bit weird that the photo they used to show me the leak was one of the original photos they had sent before starting any work. If the leak was visible in that photo, I'm unclear why they couldn't have diagnosed it earlier. The added cost of this additional repair definitely tips the scales of worth-it/not-worth-it to repair vs replace this car, so I wish I had had all the information before deciding to make the initial repairs. Unfortunately, despite stabilizing the ATF level, fixing the leaks did not resolve the transmission issue. On a smaller scale, they didn't check or top up the tire pressure, which most mechanics I've gone to have done as a courtesy when working on my vehicle. The day after I picked up my car the tire pressure light went on, and when I checked my tires all four of them had low pressure. It's a small thing, but especially when dealing with expensive mechanical items like cars, the small things matter a lot in creating a sense of security and trust with your mechanic. They did mention that they were under new management since the last time I had been in, which may account for the different experiences.

Do you need towing service to bring the car. So my vehicle was towed to his location that Wednesday afternoon. On Saturday morning Francis contacted me and asked me, "Who replaced your front axle drive shaft? I had it replaced on September the 3rd. Francis informed, me they install the wrong drive shaft. To make it really short, Francis asked me the information of the repair shop that worked in my vehicle. From there he took over, contacted the repair shop owner, explained what he found and caused damages in my car transmission and directly dealed with the other shop. Fortunately, the other shop that replaced the drive shaft, took full responsibility for the repairs needed (drive shaft replacement and transmission repair). He replaced the radiator and water pump, repositioned the external transmission cooler, and replaced the tail housing gasket on the transmission. My truck has never run cooler transmission temps than it does now. Francis is very knowledgeable and actually understands how these older trucks heat up when you're towing or sitting in traffic. Last year, the transmission on my 2008 RAV4 was rebuilt by Transmission Specialists after tow truck…read moredamage, going through insurance. A year later it still hard-shifts going downhill. I brought it back twice and both times I was told everything was fine. During the rebuild, they replaced (and charged additionally me for) replacing the transmission mounts, but a few days after I picked up my car, my motor mounts broke and the engine shifted while I was at a red light. I brought it back immediately and, after a test drive, I was told everything was fine. A separate shop found the entire engine was tilted, and I paid out of pocket several hundred dollars for their diagnosis and installation of replacement motor mounts - mounts I was told should have been replaced along with the others. I brought it back several months later because my car was hard shifting whenever I went downhill and the alternator continued making a high pitched noise. After a test drive on the flat roads around Santa Ana with Ed, was told that it shifted like butter. He advised me to warm up the car before driving, which has not helped at all. I was also promised that my alternator would be exchanged for the price of parts from O'Reilly and that it would be about a $150. I was ultimately charged me $429 for the third party alternator (definitely not a Denso) that makes high pitched whirring sounds when I press the gas pedal. Other minor issues: scratched my window tint and took 6 weeks to complete the work, fixing the alternator last and costing me 3 extra days of rental fees my insurance wouldn't cover. I ended up paying $1345 out of pocket to their shop and insurance covered $4000. Also, I incurred an additional several hundred dollars to the other shop to fix the motor mounts and for the extra days of rental. Ed is really nice and communication was not an issue. Overall, though, I did not have a great experience and I'm reminded of that daily when I drive my car over the hill to get to work, as the car will inevitably jolt as it shifts gears going downhill. It doesn't leave me a good feeling that the transmission repair will last. For this reason, I can't recommend this shop for transmission or general repair work.

I called and spoke with Ron right before closing time. He took the time to listen to everything I was experiencing, explained what he thought the issue could be, and told me to bring the van in the next morning. Their shop opens at 8:00 AM, but when I arrived around 7:45 AM, they were already there working on vehicles. When I walked in, Ron remembered our conversation from the previous day, which immediately made me feel comfortable. He scanned my van but didn't notice anything unusual.
