Drink #1 the flight if margaritas they had no flavor there was no alcohol and the colors lifeless it was so bland. We don't mind paying for drink but the expectation is quality over quantity. This certainly did not meet the needs so it was sent back and was replaced by another water down Margarita this time we just took the lost again and said nothing. 2. Drink #2 plata y pomo they they uncovered the drink to show their presentation, and to their surprise, there was no ice in the drink. The waiter said I'm so sorry. Please let me take it back. Here they come back the drink that they just placed iced and was still warm yuck . 3. Drink # 3 Coco Chanel this was all foamy at the top with no correct mixture from my understanding diosa seems that they are trying to specialize in there mixologist drink this drink is a fail. We then take a dive into their appetizers. We ordered there empanadas which actually were delicious and hot so we had some hopes that the food was going to be better tasting then the over rated drinks. We ordered the following: 1. Mar y Terria omg yuck the scallops were rotten. You can smell the old fishiness coming from the plate. The steak was so cold you know it was resting for a while cause all the juices where around the plate. The shrimp was so rubbery it felt like you were chewing on rubber. Seriously the scallops were so disgusting that it over powered the flavor of the meal. 2. The shrimp taquitos how in the world did this make it on the menu? Are they supposed to be served cold no favor and rubbery ? This had to be sent back for a Different thing wow that is just a waste of an appetizer. We ask for Queso Fundedo which came after our meals. 3. Pollo Al Pastor oh gosh talk about burnt broccoli or should I say burnt cauliflower this was black ... the chicken was over cooked and dry no flavor there is just the red dyes to change the color cause it was flavorless 4. Carnitas plate if you bringing it out in a skillet we are hoping that those meats come out piping hot. That was not the case today the meat wasn't warm and my husband was so tired of how all this was going wrong. 5. Last plate the salmon oh man yeah that took forever to cook it was drenched in a sauce. That unfortunately, make it look like a soup no they decided not to take a chance to get it and just left it. The dessert - churros They come and give you a presentation and they run out of gas to cook. They cooked it but seriously we thought it would be hot out of all the plates we ate. No it wasn't even warm the churros were stale. With all honesty if you enjoy cold food that is brunt and flavorless and some rottenness sprinkled on your plates..... Diosa is your spot they will not fail you in this aspect. Or you just want to look at there beautiful decor and snap some pictures for social media you found the spot. Had many experience with great steaks houses or upscale Mexican cuisine and we don't mind splurging on quality food and drinks but this was just unacceptable. What a waste of time, energy, and money. It's just a hyped up restaurant. I will take my losses on this one and when people ask should we try this place ... I will share my experience and don't forget the 3% surcharge added to the bill to stay aligned with inflation in America. I was there in December 2024. DIOSA is a restaurant placed in a strip mall, but I could see it stand alone in Newport or the Palisades. The decor is a Mediterranean crossed with Vegas. The staff is amazing and during the holiday party season loud and fun for groups. For our intimate dinner for two not so much unfortunately, it couldn't be helped. The food was decent we made the mistake of ordering the pasta out of the Parmesan wheel and it was really salty. The rest of the food and drinks were good though. read more

I came here for Mother's day yesterday and had a really nice time. I was a little hesitant due to the mixed reviews but the ambiance grabbed my attention so I made a reservation anyway. It is what one might consider expensive, so just be aware of that. I spent around $300 not including tip for 3 people. Their drinks are reasonably priced so definitely try out their margarita flight. All of their flavors are delicious. The hosts were really sweet too, they immediately greeted us and asked if we came in for mothers day and proceeded to gift my mom a rose. Very sweet gesture. I will say once they got busy they were a little bit slow on service so I hope they work on that as they move forward. Celebrated my friends birthday last night we were a large party of 22 we called ahead and made reservations with Meghan. That was very nice and accommodating to our needs . I had browsed through the menu before coming and seen that it was a bit on the pricier side but once dining here I realized that you definitely get what you pay for. We ordered the empanadas and guacamole for the table along with the queso fundido which all tasted amazing a friend of mine, ordered the pasta, which was tossed in a cheese wheel tableside I got to try it and it was very delicious I ordered the arrachera aka skirt steak, which was thick and juicy and definitely worth the price I also got to try some of the cast-iron Carnitas those were delicious. I did not venture off into the drink that much myself but I was told by others at my table that they were delicious. The ambience itself is submersible. Soon as you enter, you are surrounded by pure opulence and beauty. Form the fountain at the center bar to 3 beautiful chandelier above the reception desk everywhere you look nothing but beauty definitely understood why they called it Diosa Which means goddess in Spanish we were a large party of 22 so it is understandable that the service was a bit slow but nonetheless all our needs were met and we were able to celebrate my friends birthday which he enjoyed I will definitely be returning to enjoy some more food and drinks for the far exceeded my expectations. The food was amazing! Totally loved the ambiance and presentation of food items. I was taken back by the prices but then realized it was a shared plate price. And the food was well worth it!!! So this was my second time coming to this place and it wasn't as great as last time! Emily our server was lacking a lot she wasn't on top of refills she wasn't very server like. The drinks were fantastic the margaritas flight was very refreshing!! The ambiance was good the music was great! I got the steak arrachera I asked her for chiles toreados and they put the chiles on the side from the dish which I didn't want them on the side I wanted a separate order of Chiles toreados. VERY Disappointing!! Also I asked for corn tortillas multiple times and I kept getting flour. My friend and I decided to try out DIOSA for lunch earlier today around 4pm. We walked in and there was only 1 other couple seated in the entire restaurant since it was a Monday before dinner hours, which neither of us were expecting since it was a new place we were trying, but we figured that's nice maybe they'll give us really good service since they aren't packed (well we were wrong) ‍ The first server who came over was a lady who didn't say much to us but told us to take our time and seemed friendly. Then a different man took over.... The first question he asked us was if we wanted to order mock-tails, which I actually did since I prefer no alcohol. (My friend is in her mid 20s as am I) so instead of asking what she wanted to drink it was weird he specifically asked that instead, as if she was underage and couldn't have any alcohol. Being carded is perfectly understandable protocol but his comment was unnecessary. Mind you we were respectful and nice to him, also some of the only customers in the restaurant so his attitude towards us was completely unnecessary. We were both pretty astounded at the whole thing really... He acted like he didn't even want to serve us the whole time we were there. Other customers showed up and he was very ENTHUSIASTICALLY helping them and smiling, laughing etc. He came by our table 2 times and barely said anything. It took him forever to come by our table to see if we were finished or needed anything else and get the check for us while he was busy talking to his co worker. I think I came across the mean girls version of a guy. I didn't get his name, since of course he didn't even introduce himself as our server or have an ounce of customer service. After contemplating for a few minutes, we decided to leave him a very generous $1 tip. I felt bad leaving nothing at all. ‍ I really don't like doing that, as I am aware a lot of servers depend on tips, but man you really deserved that 110%... tips are for people that actually deserve them. I loved the decor and appreciated the cleanliness of the restaurant. My mother-in-law chose this place to celebrate her birthday, we definitely expected this to be a higher-end more expensive place, unfortunately it just didn't do it for us. We were a group of 8 with reservations at 5pm on a Saturday. A few in our group were late but lucky for us it was still on the slower end so we were seated pretty quickly. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages that can be made table-side and delicious mocktails, I got the Spicy Watermelon Agua and it was so delicious! For appetizers, we got the queso fundido with chorizo, which I have to admit was pretty good. However, when we asked if it came with chips they said it was an additional $4. We settled for our tortillas. When it came to ordering our entree, we couldn't decide what to get so we opted for the steak empanadas with a side of the arroz verde and black beans. It was definitely not worth the price. We also had some of the sea food pasta which was really cool to see it warmed up table-side in the cheese wheel, however, the taste did not live up to the experience. Overall, the food was the downfall of our experience here. Our churros dessert was subpar. Perhaps if the prices were more reasonable or the food lived up to the price, I would come again. On top of the already expensive prices, they charge a 3% surcharge and included an 18% gratuity on the bill. I understand tipping our waitress and table-side chefs, however, I would appreciate being able to do that myself instead of being forced to pay something I had no control over. read more

If you are looking to splurge in Downey, then this is a great place for you. Be prepared, however, for premium cost that is disproportionate to the food quality and service. Hopefully, the ownership would implement some changes, for this restaurant has potential to be great. The dishes we had - tuna tower, octopus, bone marrow, and an enchilada dish were tasty; but they were over-complicated, over-flavored, and memorable only on those regard. The portions were good. The presentation was aesthetically pleasing. But they weren't celebrations of freshness, flavor, and authenticity. It was disappointing that our charismatic server Christian did not know certain things, e.g., where the ingredients were sourced and which particular liquor went into the cocktails (after saying that different liquors went into them). It was also disappointing that he did not find out and told us. The other guy (Daniel) who helped our server was also charismatic, efficient, and accommodating; however, there was another guy who brought our second set of cocktails who was quite grumpy. The chandeliers and the waterless fountain were reminiscent of our favorite RH restaurants in Napa and New York. These features created a dreamy, elegant ambience. I wish the chandeliers were sustained throughout the restaurant instead of an abrupt shift to a birdcage-like lighting for about half 3/4 of the restaurant. Second, we told him it was our first time there and he didn't disclose the happy hour menu nor recommend anything at all; we found out later after ordering. He invested his time & overall attention with a bigger party and rarely came by to tend to us. We had to ask another server for service. Shortly after, we found a fake eyelash on our table, the owner/manager happened to pass by at that moment, he grabbed it with a tissue, but didn't bother to sanitize the table nor apologize, he just walked away and never came back nor offer us anything for the disgusting experience. We debated in walking out, our food (appetizers & entrées) took forever to arrive, but it was too late and my company had driven from afar to meet there. We we're celebrating a special occasion and didn't want to ruin the rest of the evening. The ambiance is mostly for all the social media-lites' photos, but that's about it. Sufficed to say, I don't recommend this place unless you want mediocre and unsanitary service, overpriced food & drinks, and be ignored most of your dining experience; especially, if you're just a party of two. Had dinner last night because my friend wanted to try this place. The minute I walked in the music was really loud. So I knew having a conversation would require speaking loudly to hear each other. Noticed that there were people in hoodies and jeans while other people were dressed like they were going to a club. We were seated at a table at the bar area. First off I noticed that there are girls pushing around alcohol carts stopping at tables offering drinks. Then there was a guy with several flower bouquets who also seemed to be walking around. Didn't seem to match the "upscale" vibe. There are also a lot of employees also walking around. At one point the girls with the carts got stuck around us along with some other employees. There was just a lot going on. The drinks are on the pricier end. I ordered a Frida's Garden. My drink was literally all ice. I basically paid for a glass of ice as it was almost to the top with ice and hardly any drink. I literally finished it in 3 sips. That was pretty disappointing for the price. We ordered a Queso Fundido to "share." For $18 it was tiny and it came with mini tortillas. I was shocked at how tiny it was. I ordered the Pollo Al Pastor, which is basically 2 chicken kabobs on green rice, some pineapple slices, 4 tiny pieces of cauliflower florets, black beans and some weird ketchup tasting salsa or sauce. The chicken was bland and it didn't taste like Al Pastor by any means. My friends plate took longer to come out as they ended up handing it to another table instead and had to make it again for her, per the waitress. Our waitress stopped by our table several times and at no point offered to refill my water. Overall the decor is beautiful. The entire experience was meh and underwhelming. This place was such a let down. My wife and I were excited about this place but everything about our experience was bad . 1) bartenders did not know their cocktails . I asked for their smoked old fashion, the bartender did not know how to smoke it so she said they're not doing it smoked anymore as I'm lookin at the couple across the bar getting a smoked old fashioned. This place was so much fun! It's an entire vibe if you're looking for a good time out. The music is loud enough to feel like you're at a lounge (gets progressively louder as the night goes on) but the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a fun sophisticated upscale scene. Celebrated by birthday at Diosa and overall had a good experience with a couple of notable exceptions. First, the restaurant is stunning and definitely a scene. They've put a lot into the aesthetics and the details. They just need to step up the service. My complaints are these: Our server mistakenly brought out two drinks (I had ordered one), neither of which were made correctly. But I had waited quite a while at that point and said just forget it I will keep one of the incorrectly-made drinks. He told me to just keep them both and he wouldn't charge me for one of them. Fine. After we left, though, in looking at our bill we were, in fact, charged for both drinks. Should have caught it earlier, but then again...in my opinion neither drink should have been on the bill. The biggest shocker, though, and something we did notice before we left...they charged a surcharge for 'rising costs' which is a little ridiculous since they just opened and had the opportunity to set their menu prices appropriately and not to mention that their prices are definitely not cheap...but they also charged $2 for an ice cube. Yes...$2 for a large ice cube for my husband's drink. We approached a manager on our way out the door and he didn't even believe it at first but then looked at our bill and said he wasn't even aware that was a thing to charge for in their system. He was very nice, by the way, and said he would look into it and gave us his card for the next time we come in. This place has potential and is a great addition to the Downey restaurant scene...but if they keep up with the crazy prices and, in my opinion, gouging, they're going to lose repeat guests, especially if the level of service doesn't match the prices being charged. We decided to try this new place out. Seeing reviews and photos looked intriguing, especially because it's in our area. We were a party of 6, made reservations for 6pm. At first sight, it looked so fancy, definitely a high-end feel. They have a doorman who greets and lets you in. He was professional and polite. We were there 5 mins prior to our reservation, and I gotta say FRONT DESK gave a pretty snotty attitude. FRONT DESK didn't feel welcoming to any of us. Especially for us being first-timers in the restaurant. We definitely lived for the decor and ambiance. It was beautiful. We were walked to our table around 6:45 pm, almost 7. We were rushing to make sure we were there on time! And to be led to our 6pm reservation table 45 mins to an hour later really sucked!! I gotta say it wasn't looking so good for us to stay. We were tempted to leave. However, THE MANAGER that night, as he walked us to our table, was super professional, informative, and really welcoming!!! He was the reason we gave it a shot to stay. He was attentive to us and our questions and really explained the concept of the restaurant very well. He even checked on us from time to time. Our waiter was amazing!! Although the drinks were taking some time, the drinks were delicious!!! Except for the one drink that I didn't like. The food was AWESOME, so good!!! Everything had great flavor and perfect seasoning!! Personally, I've had better Paella, the whole dish tasted bland. We had great drinks, food, great conversations, and laughs. We definitely created a group memory here. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and didn't regret staying and trying out the place. We talked about coming back again in future time. I'm HUGE on CUSTOMER SERVICE, especially when I'm paying high-end prices. Hopefully, FRONT DESK can smile and make the customers feel welcomed. This place is a hidden gem... totally unexpected from the beautiful chandeliers, decor to the glassware, I was impressed! The drinks and food were delicious and the staff was great, we even spoke with the manager about possibly having an event here. Taylor was a amazing and took great care of us and added a special touch with her banana flipping skills for our dessert! We will definitely be back! read more

I should have listened to the reviews, but my husband and I wanted to judge this place for ourselves. My husband and I are foodies and always love to try out new restaurants especially when they are local. Unfortunately, I also agree with all of the low rated reviews. 2 starts for the service and the ambience are which are very good! However, the food is way over priced. I don't mind spending when it comes to a good food however, when they have no flavor everything seems over priced. We ordered the seafood paella, the chicken Al Pastor and the steak ribeye, and unfortunately all three dishes were lacking in flavor. The drinks were decent and standard price for a drink at a bar. BUT Being that it is a brand new restaurant we are willing to give it one more try in a couple of months, maybe for lunch vs dinner this time. read more

This is a beautiful restaurant . My sister took me there for my birthday and I had the best time. Our sever Robert was great . He was very attentive and friendly. The Manager Prisila came to check on us several times and is very friendly as well . The food was great . The drinks were great and I definitely will be back. read more
