I went here this past Friday with my wife, my 2 children and a guest. At the beginning, I mentioned to the waiter that I wanted to get the children's dinner first since they would be leaving early. I continually asked the waiter for updates on their food but his response was that it was coming. The children's dinner did not come for an hour. The restaurant did not look like they were busy. My guest and I ordered branzino. The fish did not look good. We both agreed that it was the worst fish that we ever tasted. The service was very bad and the food was not that good. Another exceptional meal at Dio Deka with my girlfriends last night. We happened to not have a reservation on Wednesday evening and requested an outdoor table, hoping we could get lucky. They were so nice about our spontaneous dinner and just requested us to wait at the bar for 20-30 mins to accommodate our party of 4. We were seated behind the main courtyard which was actually super quiet and a nice change of space. We had a great bottle of rosé that came recommended by the bartender, which was perfect for the summer evening. We of course ordered the Tzatziki trio to start since this is the best starter around. I wasn't as hungry as the girls in my group so I ordered the octopus. When it came out, the waiter apologized and said it was their last octopus serving of the night (so it wasn't up to snuff), and on the house. I really appreciated that they still brought it out! (And still enjoyed quite a bit). They instead brought out the crab cake which was exceptional! 10/10 it's as if they knew I loved it ;) The ladies were very happy with their mains and shout out to Nick our awesome waiter for being so pleasant and humoring us through our meal. Really tenderly cooked octopus, not chewy. 5/5 Branzino: I love fish in general, and this dish was so satisfying. It comes with potatoes and half of lemon that you can squeeze on the fish. Great food to complement the great company I had tonight ! We sat by the window with a view; noise level low on a Friday dinner crowd. The scallops appetizer and my Japanese Kiss drink is the the best. My friend loved her Branzino and pork chop dish:). Alicia our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I decided to go fancy last night . After searching for local restaurants for some fine dining experience, we stumbled upon this one. The outside of this place reminds me of a Spanish patio area, with a fountain and some white string lights. It was decorated appropriately with a couple of Christmas wreaths on their double doors. We were warmly greeted on a Thursday night. To our surprise, it was quite busy! Noise level is quite high and service was a bit slow (the waitress only took one order at a time instead of the full meal‍), but let me tell you... the food definitely made up for it. Appetizer: warm olives and halloumi cheese were mixed with olive oil= perfection His entree: Lamb chops- cooked medium rare. Moist and fell right off he bone. It didn't have the distance lamb taste that may be off-putting. Her entree: Whole fish (I forget the fish, but it was freshly imported from the Mediterranean), crisp skin, a good balance of saltiness and peppery/lemon flavor to the skin, stuffed with rosemary and lemon. The fish itself was also cooked to perfection. I must warn you with this, it has a bit of bone in it, but it's not unbearable. Dessert: loukoumades: another perfection. Crispy on the outside, and a burst of honey as you cut through each one of them. I haven't had these made this well since the Greek Festival which I wait yearly for. Wine: Syrah- Mediterranean: smooth Overall, it was a good spot for a romantic date night. Side note: Across the restaurant is where you can find the restrooms to the right hand side. The lobby was festively decorated with a Christmas tree. It was definitely a night to remember, and this restaurant/hotel only added that extra umph. This place will be visited again for sure! My group of friends and I went for a dinner here the other night and we received the rudest service any of us have ever experienced. Our meal was good and the restaurant itself is really nice, so I want to preface this by saying that this review is purely for the service by the server Daniele. At the end of the meal, we were given our checks and we chose to split our meal three ways. We all paid and signed our checks and were just finishing up our meals having a great time when our server, Daniele, walks over and interrupts our conversation, rudely asking "Which one of you is Daniella?" Daniella is my name so I answered "oh that's me" and he goes "Was anything wrong with the meal?? Everything okay with the service??" to which I responded "yes of course" before I had chance to realize what he must have been referring to. I was absolutely dumbfounded by how rude he had suddenly become and my friends and I chatted together and decided that he must have been unhappy with my tip that I had left him (My friend that I was dining with had left a cash tip of 40%, which made sense for the meal she had ordered since it was more expensive than mine and therefore she left a larger tip, making up for my smaller tip, which was still 15% I might add). So this server was unhappy with receiving a combined 25% tip and decided to come over and make a show out of it and try to embarrass me in front of my friends. Absolutely appalling and completely unprofessional, especially after he had received an excellent tip in total!! We were completely shocked by his unprofessionalism and all said that we had never in our lives experienced such a thing at a restaurant. Safe to say, none of us will ever be coming back to this restaurant. We will take our money elsewhere where the servers show the patrons more respect. I also work for a large tech company in the area, and we often have big team dinners and sometimes will dine at Dio Deka. After this experience, I will certainly not be making any more reservations at this restaurant. I can't imagine if this server were to say something rude to the CEO of our company and embarrass him in front of his colleagues or clients. Absolutely appalling. There are so many amazing restaurants in Los Gatos and the surrounding area, I recommend dining elsewhere unless you want to receive the same kind of service we did. read more

My Fiancé took me here for dinner on Valentine's Day and we both really enjoyed it. Dio Deka had a four course prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day. I really liked the fact that every course had three to five items for me to pick from. First Course: Choice of Oysters on the Half Shell, Lightly Seared Tuna, Foie Gras ($20 supplement), Forrest Mushrooms and Cheese Fillo Pie or Baked Lamb Meat Balls. Well my fiancé ordered the Foie Gras while I ordered the Baked Lamb Meat Balls. The Foie Gras had a thin layer of passion fruit gelee, which is basically a jello that created a perfect blend. It balanced out the flavors so the Foie Gras doesn't have that super rich and overwhelming taste to it. Second Course: Choice of either Kale Salad or Butternut Squash Soup. We ordered one of each so that we can try both. I can't really say much since it can be a bit biased considering I am not a kale person or a squash person. My fiancé loved his squash soup though. Third Course: Choice of Cauliflower Agnolotti, Rack of Lamb, Olive Oil Poached Halibut or Steak (8oz Filet or 24oz Bone in Rib Eye - $35 supplement). My fiancé choose the rack of lambs while I choose the Filet. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted delightful. Fourth Course: Choice of Red Velvet Cake, Traditional Greek Beignets or Honey seasoned Greek Yogurt. We chose the Red Velvet Cake and the Greek Beignets. I am not a cake person, but yet I thought the Red Velvet cake was very rich and delicious. The Beignets were okay. It was super sweet for me. It would probably been better for me if it wasn't drenched in honey, but rather just a drizzle. Our server, Anthony, was very friendly and very hospitable. He really took good care of us and gave us great suggestions on the menu choices. So thank you, Anthony! Overall, the food was quite delicious and I do recommend celebrating Valentines here at Dio Deka if you don't mind tables that are closer together. We enjoyed a great dinner here to celebrate my husband's birthday. Nice to have complimentary ballet parking at the adjoining hotel. The dining room feels rich and adds to the special event feeling. I'd made my reservation on Open Table and noted it was for a birthday, they gave us a card and dessert with a candle. We had the assorted spreads as a starter and all were good with the bread and pita slices accompanying them. We have an octopus fan in the group, and had that also, it was fantastic and I'm not usually a tentacle lover! We also enjoyed the vegetarian entree and the lamb chops. OMG best pita bread I've ever had! And they keep bringing more and more of the warm pillowy goodness. We ordered the tzatziki for dipping and it was really good. The service is impeccable. We sat at the bar the second time we came here and the bartender was super attentive and quick even though he was clearly slammed. He even brought us two glasses of champagne when he found out it was our first meal out as husband and wife. My husband's lamp chops were to die for. Better than my moussaka which was the best moussaka I've ever had! Perfect moussaka. The food is just really, really good. We're definitely going to go back even though we can't afford it. We only discovered this when we arrived at the restaurant. It is a very nice and classy place that ensures you have an amazing experience dining here. We made a reservation using Yelp's reservation system and it was super convenient to do it through them. Once at the restaurant, we were seated right away without any wait. Rating the following out of 5: AMBIANCE - 5 The restaurant has a very nice and cozy ambiance. The night we were here, it was quite cold and was raining. Once we stepped in, it felt really warm and comfy. FOOD & DRINKS - 4 The food and drinks were good. They brought us some complimentary pita bread and it was warm and soft. Loved them. We couldn't try the desserts as we were too full. Maybe next time! DRINKS - Chocolate Bliss - 3 Ah, I'm a Chocolate lover but this isn't for me. I think in my head I was imagining Hot Cocoa but received something harder! Not their fault. The drink probably was good because my husband finished it haha but too strong for my taste! Evita Royale Lemondrop - 5 My husband ordered this drink and loved it! FOOD - Saganaki - 5 Great appetizer! Loved the way they plated this dish. It was really good! The cheese was warm and soft. At some places, I have not really enjoyed the dish as the cheese is very rubbery but not at Dio Deka. Seasonal Peppers - 4 You would think these peppers would be super hot by their appearance but they aren't very spicy especially when they are roasted like that. They have a nice crunch and the sauce accompanied well with them. Fish of the Day - 3.5 I can't remember which kind of fish it was but the overall dish was a bit flat to me. It wasn't really exciting. Tasted boring, to be honest. Orzo with Burnt Butter & Myzithra cheese - 4 This is a side dish on their menu which is super rich as you can see what goes in it. Truffle Risotto - 4 My husband ordered this dish. There aren't very many options for vegetarians to choose from. It is a simple dish but he enjoyed it. CUSTOMER SERVICE - 5 Great treatment. In short, another very overrated, very expensive restaurant. It is a reoccurring theme as I have become a very picky chef. My pet peeves are over cooked food and seasoning that drowns out the flavor of the course. The restaurant had all of that. Laughably bad. Cannot believe this is Michelin rated. No one in our party enjoyed their meals and service was super slow. Our main courses took well over an hour to be served. The branzino was cold and flavorless and had slimy, floppy skin. The accompanying potatoes were so undercooked they were hard inside, and the chard was as bland as baby food. The lamb was also cold and lacked flavor, so most ended up getting fed to the dogs. The side of mushrooms was under seasoned and cold. The appetizer featuring a trio of spreads was pretty good, but not good enough to redeem such an overall bad - and grossly overpriced - meal. When contemplating whether or not to order dessert, our friend joked that it would likely take so long to be delivered that we'd probably be charged for overnight parking. The only bright spot was our waiter, who was genuinely kind and apologized profusely for the slow delivery of the meals. It's a pretty place and our friend said it used to be quite good, so it's sad that it has slipped so badly. Short: Great ambiance and service, where price and food don't quite match up. First off, the service at this place was very good. With the exception of a minor hiccup (maybe was brought an incorrect dish), the service was flawless. It was just the right amount of attention in the moments where we needed them. The pace of which the food and drinks came out was flawless. Also, a big shoutout to the bar staff because those drinks were delicious. If service and drinks were the only considerations for this review it would be a 5star rating. But unfortunately, we got out to have an amazing dining experience, which includes food. And here is where things become tricky. To put it simply: the food was heavily overpriced. But let's get down and dirty and break it down. 1.Spreads $18 (3/5): Was it good? Yes. Was it $18 good? Nope. You basically get 4 tiny scoops of tzatziki, tirokafteri (feta and jalapeño flavor), htipiti (feta and roasted paper flavor) and taramosalata (salmon roe spread) with some yummy pita bread. The jalapeño one was my favorite out of the four. The salmon one had a weird mayonnaise-like texture. We didn't care for it all. But on the bright side, you get free pita bread refills. 2. Village salad $17 (5/5): This simple salad may have been the best dish of the night. Cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and a block of feta with light dressing. Simplicity is sometimes the best. 3. Watermelon gazpacho $16 (2/5): The dish I was most excited about was by far the most disappointing one. To me a good gazpacho has 3 things: the right temperature (chilled), the fresh taste of the veggies and a nice vinegary finish. This dish had neither. I couldn't discern the water or cucumber flavors, there was zero acidity and my mouth was left on fire from the jalapeño. Definitely not was I was hoping for when ordering the dish. 4. Lamb chops $56 (3.5/5): in my husband's words "Some was overly ambiguous." Considering you are paying $28(!!!!) per chop (yep, you get only 2 chops for $$$$) he definitely wouldn't order them again. You get much better and more chops at Dish Dash for less. 5. Seafood Melange $42 (3/5): our server warned us that this was a big portion, but I was able to easily finish it. The single shrimp, 3 mussels and the sauce itself were the best parts about the dish. The calamari was slimy. The home-made squid ink pasta had a nice texture. But overall, I expected more. They dropped of a couple of treats throughout the night. The cherry tomato with the salmon dip was ok, the cucumber yogurt soup was 1000x better than the gazpacho and the little cinnamon meringue to finish of the meal was nice. If you want a classy mediterran experience go to Evvia in Palo Alto. Otherwise, Dish Dash is a good alternative to Dio Deka. read more

My husband and I decided to have dinner here, kind of impromptu, since we were so busy and weren't able to celebrate our anniversary properly the previous weekend. We called five minutes before 5 and asked if they had any tables available, and sure enough, they did! We were all dressed in fancy pants because we had a maternity photoshoot, and glad we did, since I didn't realize they have a dresscode here...but it makes sense given the overall ambiance! They were accommodating to our last minute decision to eat there, which was great. I think perhaps they were a bit presumptious and didn't ask us if we were celebrating anything. That being said, I could have mentioned something, but wasn't sure if they did anything for anniversaries. I got the branzino, and my husband got the lamb shank. We shared the foraged mushrooms and creamed spinach. We were offered complimentary tasters from the chef. Both were excellent and had amazing flavors and I could see why based off of those two tasters that they had a michelin star in the past. The branzino was pretty good --- had a good grilled flavor, and the potatoes were a great texture. There was some spinach there, which was a nice surprise. Honestly, the flavors/flavor combination didn't "wow" me, especially for the price, but the food tasted fresh and was healthy, so there ya go. My husband enjoyed his lamb shank. I tried a bite and it's defffinitely on the gamier side (which is not really my thing). They offer pita complimentary, but no gluten-free option, which was a bummer for my husband. I'd think that a nice place like this one would offer some kind of gluten-free substitute. I also found it weird that they didn't provide olive oil or hummus for the pita, just the pita. But, that being said, the pita was delicious and served warm/fresh. Strangely enough, the creamed spinach was probably one of my favorite dishes here. It has a hint of nutmeg, which sounds really weird with spinach, but it was quite a delightful surprise! I'm always for interesting flavor combinations, and the creamed spinach did that for me. My husband got the baklava and I got the flourless chocolate cake. Baklava was delicious and flourless chocolate cake was pretty good, but didn't wow me. We received complimentary meringues with our check, which was a nice touch. My husband and I "toasted" our meringues and wished each other a Happy Anniversary. Our waiter overheard and mentioned that he didn't realize it was our anniversary. We just smiled politely, but yes, I think it would be nice if they asked off the bat if we were celebrating anything, or excellent customer service would be comping a dessert after finding out. Overall, great ambiance. Food is fresh, and some dishes have amazing flavor combinations. Didn't "wow" me, for the price tag, but glad to know this place exists! Great food for nights where you wanna go out for a nice date or special occasion. Waitstaff was very attentive and nice during our time there. They make themselves aware of allergies, which I really appreciated. I ended up getting the lamb chops (@medium), which were really good. Came to about ~$53 for lamb chops. Came with potatoes, and got sides of veggies and potatoes about ~$10 each. Everything was cooked to perfection. One thing to keep in mind is that it is LOUD in there, I don't mind that, but I know some people can be sensitive to that. We used to come to Dio Deka 15-16 years ago, and it was quite good. But after we moved away from the area, we found other places. In the last year or so we've been hearing great things about the food from friends who live in the Los Gatos / Saratoga area, but dismissed them as exaggeration. And then, a couple of months ago, I found out that Chef Nikos Moulinos had moved to Dio Deka a couple of years ago. The next day we were there. And, oh boy, was it good. Every dish we had was outstanding: the moussaka with duck meat (who other than Chef Nikos would have thought to combine two of my favorite tastes?), the lobster pasta, the octopus, the thalassomezes (seafood sampler), the spanakopita, everything was mouthwatering. And the desserts? Forget about it: the loukoumades (donut beignets drenched in Greek honey), the ekmek (kataifi with an amazing cream topping), and the sokolatina (chocolate cheesecake) are all in my Top 10 all-time dessert list. My only regret: That I didn't know about Chef Nikos being there earlier; I missed a couple of years of enjoying this wonderful food. And last, but not least, I should add that our dinner was made even better by the excellent service we received from everyone, but especially Darrin, who took great care of us at our table, and Sakis, who made us feel very welcome as we came in. I'll be honest, I came in here with expectations. Michelin-reviewed, pricey, etc., it gets a boy thinking I'm gonna get fed real well and treated real well. We had a very talkative man from Italy who, yes, was very attentive, but maybe a little bit too much, you know what I mean? Stopping by every couple of minutes with a joke. Although when my sister sent back a cocktail saying it was too sweet, he returned with one less sweet at no cost, which was wonderful. Now the food itself tended to be on the salty side for me. I was so excited to dine at Dio Deka with all the great reviews on food and ambience. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our Valentine's day early and staying overnight in the hotel. We had reservations and were seated close to 30 minutes after our reservation time. The outdoor seating really is lovely and spaced fairly well. The fire lamps were a nice touch and kept us warm. The service was pretty awful. We got our water and then 15 minutes went by with nobody checking on us. After ordering drinks & our entire meal, another 15 minutes went by. Our octopus came out with no silverware on the table or plates, also before we even got our drinks. The Evita Royale and The Last Word were both so sugary; really no other flavor to discern. We were told we'd get bread, that never came. Food: Octopus: 1 out of 5. Supposedly their most popular dish, it was chewy and overly salty. We sent this back as it was inedible. Lamb Meatballs: 3 out of 5. Good flavor but a bit dry on the outside and mushy on the inside. Foraged Mushrooms: 1 out of 5. Oily, chewy, overcooked and had virtually no flavor; not even mushroom flavor. Lamb Chop: 2 out of 5. I really wish we had gotten 2 lamb chops vs 3 as these were just not good. The first two were cooked well with the third being undercooked. We ordered them medium rare. There was really nothing special about them; no sauce, no other flavor other than meat. The potatoes were the highlight of this dish and that's really all there was; three lamb chops and 3 balls of potatoes. We had two desserts and neither were memorable. Baklava and their version of beignets (soggy fried donuts). Just skip both these. I guess I just had too high of expectations for this place and for a $200+ meal, I am left disappointed. Our server did comp us the octopus since we sent it back and gave us one of our two desserts for free. It certainly did not make up for how awful the food was and how it put a damper in our romantic dinner. Thankfully, the company we shared was fabulous and the hotel was beautiful. January 6 2018 - Our wedding anniversary dinner. No issues making reservations 4-5 days in advance and were seated early. Service - Impeccable, sweet, observant, and friendly. They noted every body language we had for a request and they swooped in to make sure we were taken care of. Overall - Best Michelin recommended restaurant I've ever been to. Thymiopoulos, 'Young Vines', 2016 - Wholesome, delicious. Taramosalata (salmon roe spread) - Creamy, lemon zest went perfectly with the complimentary pita bread. They assured me this was vegan. I was skeptical but I also did not end up in the bathroom. Baked Lamb Meatballs (ouzo-tomato sauce, fresh ricotta cheese) - Hearty, soft, savory, and delicious rich tomato flavors. Octopus (mesquite grilled octopus, lemon, olive oil, oregano) - Must order! It was soft, light combination of flavors. Octopus was soft and grilled to perfection. Branzino (filleted, mesquite grilled, sautéed greens, roasted potatoes) - Must order! The fish was soft, savory, and juicy. I finished mine and my husband's portion. Potatoes were very good. Chef's Showcase: Vegetarian (actually vegan) - Beautiful to look at, protein heavy, and had to take home. It was good but we were so full by then. The leftovers tasted even better. We ordered way too much food. It made an excellent leftovers dinner the following night. read more

Food was great. However I feel it's a little pricey for what you get. And I also think that the food before had a lot more flavor and bang for your buck. Service was outstanding. I always wish Yelp reviews would just focus on the quality of the food. So here you go: The food was extremely good. Spanakopita, filet mignon, forager mushrooms, salmon, fries, chocolate cake and beignets. All were great, would order again, but now I want to try the rest of the menu. And I eat at plenty of nice restaurants so I would notice if something wasn't great. The service and atmosphere were good too. read more
