This place over fifteen years ago was a cash only business. They pretty much accept all payment types now. Nowadays, it's great to see them surviving and thriving at this tiny store in Sunnyvale. Parking lot is still large enough to find available spots. Pho Nam in the same plaza used to be my go to Pho restaurant. Staffs were Chinese and Indian workers inside Dim Sum King. All were very helpful, organized, well trained, and attentive. Pretty decent prices compared to other similar places. Note, you can get additional 10% off if you show a military/veteran ID card, 10% off if you purchase more than $100 before taxes/tips, and 5% off if you pay in cash. This is really not bad at all and discounts can be fully combined to save you money on your visit. I like that you can still sit and wait inside. Nothing fancy/just an old dim sum takeout foods spot that's been around for ages. I picked up some BBQ pork buns/hot dog buns/egg tart/HK pineapple bun/and a yellow fried rice medium box size. Happy bird. I haven't ate anything from here in years. Everything is still fulfilling/good portion/delicious for Cantonese dim sum items/buns. Over the counter foods were ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. BBQ red meats aren't cheap here. Freezer foods are worth looking at. They also have special Lunar New Year promotions and items too. It's a convenient spot to grab and go. So far so good. Good staffing. This is worth revisiting.

Dim Sum and then some! [Sunnyvale CA] We picked up a TGTG deal next door at Edible Arrangements and saw this dim sum fast food restaurant. We decided to stop by inside while there was no line. There were different dim sum options: steamed, baked or fried, egg rolls, shrimp balls and desserts -- egg tarts, custard buns, sesame balls, and many more. Prices were decent. We chose 2 orders of the 3-pcs Shrimp & Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai) and 3-pcs Pan Fried Shrimp & Chives Dumpling. There were a couple of tables inside but most people get them to go. We grabbed a table and dined in. I wasn't particularly fond of the shrimp & chives dumpling but I did enjoy the Siu Mai. They were big pieces, flavorful and very filling. Plenty of shared parking in a strip mall. Review #3946

Came by the other day for some dim sum and it was a decent experience. Parking was plentiful in the private strip mall lot. Dim Sum King is mainly a take-out place with a few tables to eat outdoors on the patio. There is a 5% discount for paying cash and the interior of the shop seems to have a fan only. Ordered the pork and preserved egg congee and it was decent. There was plenty of pork and preserved egg. The pork pot stickers were tasty. Flavorful pork and pan-fried to perfection. The shrimp dumplings were decent too, especially for a take out spot. The pork rice noodle roll was ok. The pork was rather dry and the rice noodles didn't seem like they were pulled. ...it was different. Staff was friendly.

Swing by after seeing some apartments as we were in Sunnyvale around 10am. Most dim sum places open around 11 but dim sum king was open much earlier. Awesome! Dim sum king also specializes in take-out style dim sum as opposed to purely dine in style. They do offer seating to eat but items relatively small that would only seat 2-3 parties of 2-3 people. They have their classics like the shrimp dumplings, pork and shrimp dumplings, etc. All pretty reasonably priced. When ordering, I noticed that the team was pretty diverse and spoke mainly English too. Definitely less of a barrier for those that want to try dim sum! We ordered the bbq pork bun, hargow, siumai, and chicken feet. All very delicious! We would definitely come back again if the apartment hunting in Sunnyvale works out. Thanks dim sum king!

Big portions, fresh, and convenient! Ordered and quick service while picking up! I ordered the classics: Har Gow, Siu Mai, and Ham Sui Gok (Stuffed Pork Football). So filling and they all tasted so delicious! Small little shop made to order on the go and will be coming back!

Located in a plaza with ample parking. They have a line for ordering and for pick up. We opted for take out. Fried rice - flavorless, not even salt Sesame chicken - nice flavor, a little dry Pork spare rib - not enough flavor Har gow - nice chew on skin, big pieces of shrimp Shrimp & chive - seems like there was no shrimp at all Shrimp bean curd - overly salty, tastes like it was fried in old oil Fried siu mai - taste good, like a fried potsticker Overall would not come back for dim sum

    Metal in food

Found metal inside King Feast 3 Entrees. Looks like piece of some metal dish sponge. Really dangerous.

This place is soo crowded on weekends! I went for the first time at 11:45am on a Saturday and the line was out the door. I opted to order ahead online via 3rd party so I could avoid waiting in line but still ended up waiting. They technically have a separate line for online pickups but it converges to the same checkout line for the normal orders so it was quite inefficient. I was at the very front and couldn't ask anyone to get anyone's attention to get my online order for a good 5 minutes. They run out of stuff by 12pm so I suggest going earlier. I liked the sui mai, har gow, bean curd rolls, bbq pork (only served on weekends), fried shrimp ball, and sesame ball, and . The pan fried noodles were underwhelming and tasteless, and the steamed pork baos were dry. Overall place is about 3.5 but decided to round up. Decent togo place for dim sum if you're in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to try.

Although it's very fast, most of the food is laid out under heat lamps so they didn't taste very fresh. Still good for fast/cheap dim sum/Chinese takeout though

Awesome takeout shop that serves dim sum in the morning and afternoon. Since there are no tables, all orders are to-go. The staff is super nice and friendly! Will definitely be coming back again.

Solid takeout dim sum. Very generous portions and well-priced. We tried the radish cakes, BBQ pork bao, shrimp and pork shu mai, shrimp har gow, and baked egg custard tarts. All were strong renditions of the classics. Would definitely return when a dim sum craving hits!

As of this writing (12/30/24) do they serve dim sum on carts? If so, is it for lunch or dinner or both? Thx

Unfortunately they do not serve on carts. This is purely a take out establishment. However, their dim sum is very good

Is your food peanut allergy safe? No cross contamination?

Hi there, a limited number of menu items contain peanuts. While we make every effort to wash utensils and cookware thoroughly, we cannot guarantee a completely peanut allergy-safe environment.

    Yes, they Americanized the names

We knew to go early, since they don't take reservations and we often see lines outside. We arrived at 10:30am and the front manager said if we can be done my 12:30, that they had a table for us. Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

Ironically, I'm not a fan of them myself--they're a bit too eggy for my taste. When it comes to dim sum quality and service, I honestly prefer Koi Palace. The food quality there is more consistent, and the service is much more phenomenal. The only things this place really has over Koi Palace are the lower prices and those black sesame custard buns my friend loves! I've been here at least a dozen times, and the food can be hit or miss. Sometimes dishes come out cold, like they've been sitting out for a while instead of being served fresh and hot. That said, there are a few items we always order that are consistently good when brought out fresh like salted crispy pork chops, siu mai, shrimp rolls, and fried calamari. Be prepared for a wait on weekends since it gets crowded. If you're coming with a large group, it's best to arrive before noon. The restaurant is located next to a hotel, and finding the restroom can be confusing since it's inside the hotel. Service is also pretty minimal--they seem understaffed, and I almost always have to flag someone down just to get basics like soy sauce, chili, and water. I don't understand why they don't just have the sauce on the table for guest to dip, but I get that they're saving $ on controlling the cost down. On my most recent visit, the experience really went downhill. Our table had food but no soy sauce, chilli nor water, and when I flagged a waiter multiple times, he got visibly annoyed and irritated. It was frustrating--we shouldn't have to chase someone down repeatedly for basic condiments. Being met with attitude for that honestly left a bad impression. That experience alone makes me reconsider coming back. Good food at a good price is one thing, but poor service--especially to that extent--can really ruin the overall experience.

We arrived around 1 PM on a Sunday and were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait. That was fine. But when we were seated we noticed the carts did not have much food. So we ordered 4 dim sum items off the menu. No one told us how long it would take to get these items. We ordered traditional dim sum items and at most dim sum places it would just take a few minutes. But after 20 minutes, nothing had arrived. We asked one of the workers and he angrily told us it takes a long time to prepare them. After 5 minutes one item showed up. But after waiting 20 minutes we decided to leave. As we were paying the bill, another item showed up so we just took it home. What bothered me most was no one apologized for the long wait, offered to somehow compensate, etc. They just acted like another day at Saigon Seafood Harbor.

The decor and ambiance is nice - very spacious and elegant. You can join the waitlist from Yelp - always a plus. Highlights: the har gow were plump with large pieces of shrimp and minimal filler. The dumpling skin was on the thicker side (I don't mind it but my wife likes thinner skins.) Maybe that was needed because of how big these were - really packed with shrimp. The mango pudding was delicious and reminded us of childhood, and the shrimp noodle roll was great. Lowlight: I was less happy with the xiaolongbao - there are so many good options for these in the South Bay that this meager interpretation was frankly bordering on blasphemy. I would not order those again. The steamed char siu bao were far better but still could've used more pork in the filling and were slightly soggy and over steamed. We also had the beef chow fun which was excellent with smoky wok hei flavor. Overall a good place for dim sum but avoid the xiaolongbao.

Our family particularly love their large round tables that can accommodate up to 12, as sometimes it's hard to eat all together at 1 table. There was also a large party going on, where they were able to partition off the main space for privacy. Also there was a Tesla test driving promotion out front. After they present your receipt, there's a line there asking for extra tip, as if 18% isn't enough? I was going to tip them well anyway so the forcing part was off-putting and sneaky. It inevitably left a bad taste. Regarding the legality of mandatory gratuity, they did disclose 18% service charge on menu. They also taxed on gratuity. They probably have a good lawyer telling them how to make mandatory gratuity legal. That is to use phrase "service charge" and print it on menu, which I didn't notice until much later. (From the picture I took.) A small group like us (party of three) should not be subject to mandatory gratuity. No one likes to be forced to tip. Tipping should be at free will. Needless to say, we won't be back.
