I had entirely forgotten about Dilly's until moving back to the area & a lovely prompt from Grubhub! Absolutely one of my favorite soup & sandwich shoppes!!! First- I don't think you can go wrong with ANY of their items! They have some classic and unique combinations that are far better than anywhere else you'd opt for. I also love the fact that most of their sandwiches can be ordered in 1/2 size, and fully customizable. Because they are GENEROUS with portions when it comes to the sandwiches! 1/2 paired with a soup is plenty for one. I also love that the soups all come with a fresh bread bowl! Their bread is very good- you can tell it is fresh. Never hard, crusty or stale- perfectly soft & very plentiful! Because, their "large" soup is actually not enough for the bread bowl. And, that is why I dock a star. The broccoli cheddar is my favorite (and they'll add some extra shredded cheddar in if you request it) but the portion for the "large" soup is really the equivalent of a regular or small, anywhere else. It's hard to say what is better- the soup or sandwiches, because pretty much everything is good! I personally love their whole-grain bread, but again, the options are abundant and I don't think you can go wrong in customizing. The raspberry honey mustard is also a favorite for condiments. Probably why I always gear back to the Southwest club sandwich- paired w/ the avocado, bacon & Turkey is actually better than a Thanksgiving leftover sandwich. I have yet to try one of their robust salads, but those have looked fantastic every time I've been in and seen them in person. I'd suggest making multiple visits, because there are just too many good items & combinations to choose from. It kind of sucks they close earlier than most other establishments- so don't plan on this for dinner if it's after 5pm! read more

This place has so many issues. From the people they hire, to the unexplainable issues making their sandwiches to unknowledgable staff. Everytime i come to this location they are so skimpy! No meat, floppy lettuce, tomatoes and SO MUCH mayo. Like look at the photo??i would get more at subway for WAY LESS. They dont even care to heat up ur sandwich when asking for gluten free bun, so they leave it semi frozen and crumbly..maybe because they didnt heat it up long enough...or maybe teach ur staff proper contamination/ cooking gluten free skills if youre going to offer it?? Also staff rude ....my god. Ill go make my own or take my butt to subway for $12 thin floppy mess. read more

Working on this side of town with only 30 min lunch break so I decided to stop here. I ordered a whole Signature Sandwich: Smokey Mountain (smoked pepper turkey, smoked Gouda cheese, red onion, bacon and Russian mustard) on Foccacia bread. Ok, SO GOOD! For starters, I got my order within 5 minutes. I order to eat in but they will put all orders in to-go bags and give you a plastic plate for health safety reasons. The sandwich was so warm but toppings were fresh. Great combo. Russian mustard has a sweet kick (similar to honey mustard). The Foccacia bread was so soft and fluffy. They also have gluten free bread options, which I thought was super! Tables are distanced and all employees wearing masks. Service and food was great! Highly recommend! read more

Very dry and seems like a rip off of a local sandwich shop I know in Tucson. I would not recommend.

I excitedly stopped by to grab sandwiches and a soup bowl. Had been years since I had visited this one time weekly frequented spot, when I worked close by. I ordered the Turkey club, NO bacon to refuel my exhausted soul. Welp, someone definitely did NOT listen because I ended up with BACON on my sandwich. I am Martin ALLLLL DAY, "lips that touch swine, don't touch mines." cus I do not eat PORK! Exhausted and more so disgusted, I tossed my food in the trash, sent an email and just took me a nap. Toooo exhausted and gas is too high, to be driving back to tell somebody how to do their job right the first time. While the programmed,"sorry" with a side of replacement is nice...my time, gas and energy is worth MORE. Be careful when ordering to make sure they LISTEN, take your order RIGHT, and MAKE YOUR FOOD RIGHT the first time! read more

This is a staple of southwest Mesa and south east Tempe. The owner Jeff is always nice and helpful and the food is consistently good. Lunch is very busy so I generally like going in the afternoon. My favorite sandwich is the Blazin Buffalo on classic toasted hoagie bread with extra jalapeños and peppercinis. I get this with a side of tomato soup in the bread bowl and the unsweetened iced tea. The salads are great also. The staff is helpful and polite. I've been patronizing this business since the early 2000's and will continue to do so. read more

So as I was in a barren waste land of food and drink at the hotel I was staying in, I made a decision to get sandwiches from this place to put in my fridge, so I could have food late at night when I'm awake, as I work nights! Service was great, the guy at the counter was helpful and friendly, the place was nearly empty but was clean! I ordered two sandwiches an Italian in what was described as sourdough hoagie rolls, nothing of the kind however, it was more like focaccia bread, and I am not a fan of focaccia ! The meat to bread ratio was just bad, so much bread so little meat! The flavor was just not there either! My other sandwich was a smoked turkey sandwich in rye, the rye bread was actually delicious, but again the bread to meat ratio was just not good! Though flavorful, there just wasn't enough meat to justify the cost of $9.00! It was a delicious sandwich but just lacking in substance! Would I go again , maybe but not likely! read more

I have fond memories of Dilly's restaurants. Sadly, most of them have closed over the years. My most recent visit to the location off Price and Southern was a disappointment. First, the inside was not clean. Most of the tables were dirty from previous patrons- and nobody from the store bothered to wipe down the tables. And it wasn't like it was crazy busy when we arrived- there was one table occupied with about 4 eaters. That's it. After ordering our food we struggled to find a semi-clean table. Also, there was a strange smell near the front entrance, not sure what that was (sewer line issues?)... We ordered half sandwiches with a side of soup. I remember the sandwiches being a lot less greasy. Mine was "loaded" with butter or something before going into the grill press, made my fingers really wet with grease. Also, the meat portions were very small- especially when they are between those large pieces of texas toast! The soup was good, nice and hot but (again) very small portion. The bread bowl it was served in was stale. Like, really stale. Soup was gone after about 7-8 spoonfuls. My wife had a similar experience with her Dillybird sandwich- no meat, all bread and greasy. Staff was not super friendly, we had to make a couple of trips back to the front to ask for items that were forgotten when served. The Coke dispenser was almost out of carbonation so all sodas were flat. Also, all of the flavored drinks were empty so many of the options on the LED screen were greyed out. I've seen other shops replace the flavor packs before, it's not a hard process. Too bad the staff didn't attend to it, so we drank flat sodas. Lots of opportunities to make this place a better dining experience. Maybe management will take notice of these reviews and choose to do something about it. Until then, I'll likely stay away for a little while. read more

I go for the cheap kids meal and variety of soda options. The food is just alright. The service isn't great. They are often inconsistent. When I first went, they were very generous with the meat and toppings for the sandwich. However, the more I went, the less they added to my sandwich and the more likely they wouldn't give me my drink or would burn my sandwich. read more

Having frequented Dilly's Deli for years, I've noticed a slide in the quality of food. After ordering our regular go-to, a Dilly Bird & a Reuben, it's quite clear this place isn't what it used to be. The Reuben was drenched in a Thousand Island, making it a chore to eat. However, our real gripe was with the Dilly Bird. First, we requested "NO sprouts" in our order. Nevertheless, the picture of our order clearly shows sprouts, which indicates that customers can't rely on the "specifications" section of the online ordering system actually being read by staff. Our receipt shows our specification (attached image) In the pictures attached, you can easily see the poor quality of ingredients that went into our Dilly Bird (a $9 sandwich). The Turkey is grey, which indicates that the meat is 4-5 days old and is near spoilage. One could easily get better quality (and cheaper) meat at a grocery store. In addition, the Dilly Bird's price premium is likely due to the avocado, of which there were only 2 paltry slices with browning spots. In essence, the sandwich was akin to when a child leaves his/her uneaten sandwich in their lunchbox for multiple days. In kind, the sandwich was discarded after a few bites. Luckily, if you are close by in the area, there are plenty of other offerings for quality sandwiches that provide you with a decent return-on-investment for your hard-earned money. read more

Ok, I finally made it to Dilly's. I can't say I was all that impressed. The food was okay, the service sucked, and I don't really see what the big deal is about this place. I grew up eating real deli food. This, is not real deli food. It serves a very limited selection of menu options. For starters, you only have 3 choices of bread. I got a half sandwich and half salad. The food was good, a notch above "decent." Good enough to eat on a regular basis becuase its near my place, but NOT deserving of a special out of the way trip. I dunno, I wouldnt NOT reccomend this place, but, I left unimpressed. The Greek salad was good, the sandwich was good, but I feel like I left unsatisfied. read more

Ugh I LOVE this place! I'm so sad the scottsdale location closed. I live in north Phoenix and drove with my best friend to this Tempe location cause we missed it so much. We haven't been here in years and I hopped it didn't change, and it sure didn't! The service is good and the food is incredible. Best sandwich shop around. Amanda got her buffalo chicken sandwich and wow is it good. The bread is all so fresh and crispy. I wish I could only eat this bread rest of my life. I got the Rueben which was bomb as well. I usually get either the Rueben or Italian. Next time I'll get the classic Italian. The sides are amazing. I could eat tubs of their macaroni or potato salad. I cannot say how much we love this place. We literally were so excited to go here again. My friend was in area for a wedding so we made sure we went to dilly's. Hands down best sandwiches around. I pretty much always get the Dilly Bird on wheat and the bread is so fresh. When you walk in the store it has that fresh bread smell, you can hardly wait for your food! We get lunches delivered regularly to our office and they are usually right on with the order being correct. You can also pull up nutrition facts for all their food, if your particular about calories or carbs. My pic is of half my sandwich, they are big enough you can make two meals out of them. I had their Turkey and Avocado sandwich -- and it left my mouth watering long after the sandwich was gone. I have always loved Dilly's for sandwiches. Their potato salad is one of my top two favorites of any that I have ever eaten. I used to get the Honey-do, but their new menu doesn't have it, so I opted for another sandwich that was just as tasty with a sweet mustard on it. I hadn't been to Dilly's in about a year because I moved to the Northwest Valley where they don't exist, so when I handed them my almost filled punch card, they told me they don't use them anymore. All was not lost however, because they let me exchange my punch card for a free sandwich! Done! Gotta love Dilly's! read more

I used to love Dilly's deli in chandler. We used to go almost weekly. On a whim I was craving the potato soup so I picked it up on my way to work. I get to work and am eating the soup and find a string in my soup! I was very grossed out. This is just a mom and pop's kind of deli in a super random place. The same owners as Floridinos in Chandler. I'd love to continue supporting them but that was just disappointing because after that, I was scared of what else would be in it. read more

Don't remember the two women who were working today but they both provided excellent service. It was a rainy day and on top of the amazing food they had some pretty nice jams playing as well.
