I can't recommend Dillon's Automotive enough. The shop is easy to get to, the entry and waiting area are very clean, the Ladies Room was very clean as well. The waiting area has comfortable seating and it was easy for me to charge my devices and get some work done while I waited. I scheduled an 80,000 mile service today. Although an internal error in communication on vehicle status and pickup, I was able to get there and they stayed open till I got there. They apologized and comped my oil change. To me this is indicative of not only quality business practices, but the character of the owner and their values. I will give 5 stars, not because of the comped service, but because businesses that act this way are not as prevalent as we would like them to be in our communities. In November, I sought out Dillon's Auto for their used vehicle inspection service ($250) on a 2008 Lexus ES 350 before purchasing. According to their website under 'Auto Services - Auto Inspection - Used Vehicle inspection', as well as a phone call with them, this was supposed to be a comprehensive evaluation that would overly assure me of my purchase for a used car, noted by its higher price compared to their basic inspection ($50). If you check out other mechanics, they seem to typically charge ~$150 for a PPI. They checked the vehicle out and kept it overnight for inspection. I called them back the next day when it was ready and asked how much the repairs would cost, and their opinion on if the car would be a good purchase based on this information. I was provided a brief overview of what the repairs would cost, and that the vehicle would in fact be a good purchase considering its state and make/model. The highest price I was told for one of the repairs was $900, which I was told would be a worse case scenario for fixing the radiator. I was told a couple of other numbers which were lower, so I was convinced that the maximum repair costs would be about $2,000. So based on what they had just told me, my past experience with them, and their positive reputation + reviews, I decided to follow through and purchase the vehicle. However, after I brought the car back to Dillon's for the repairs to be completed, I was told a total cost which was several thousands more than I was expecting, a significant portion of the car's value (~75%). To be precise, the car was purchased for $8.5k before TTL, and I was quoted ~$6890 for the repairs. I was told that the repairs were listed on the sheet I received. While it seemed that most of repairs were listed, they were not listed in the same detail compared to after purchasing the car, there was no cost listed and in my opinion the crossover from the pre purchase inspection to the after purchase inspection was not nearly similar enough. One example of this would be the blown power steering rack which I don't see a specific mention of on the initial report. I am not extremely knowledgeable and admit it could be conveyed in a way that I don't understand, the initial report lists dark power steering fluid, and that the rack & pinion boots were torn, not the entire rack itself which needed to be replaced. However, I think everyone realizes that it is part of the shops job to "translate" to the customer, and at least inform them that these two symptoms could result in a much higher repair cost than predicted. This is frankly besides the point though, I was not told anything near what the actual total costs to repair the vehicle would be despite paying for an expensive PPI, which is a massive deal, if not the entire point of a pre purchase inspection. Even then I still decided to authorize them to complete the repairs despite knowing the price, I had looked up the costs and determined I might save some money, given that another shop would have had to inspect the car themselves and then repair it, and that Dillon's might discount me for their mishandling of the situation. I communicated all of this to them and received a modest discount, about 9% in total (In the end I paid a total of ~$6,550 vs. an actual total of ~$7,150) Which I don't feel was even close to enough, which is why I am leaving a review. I understand that it is not Dillon's responsibility to micro manage me through a car purchase, but I clearly asked what the repairs costs would be and was not told an accurate number. In a roundabout way they seemed to admit partial fault but they left it at that. Obviously I wouldn't have bought the car if I knew. If this were a matter of $500 I would simply take my loss and move on, but spending nearly $5,000 more than expected is just insane. My grandson took his 2008 Toyota truck to this firm for a knocking noise when turning. They determined it was the steering shaft which is a poor design by Toyota. Dillon charged him $479 for the part which could have been after market for $300 less and then charged him $365 for labor 1-2 hours which they say they charge $180/hr. With their overhead and new building I can see. I would suggest to new customers look to a smaller shop where the owner had to wipe the grease off his hand to shake yours or find a mobile mechanic who would be most reasonable. For a company to charge nearly $1000 for a vehicle with 160,000 miles is unconscionable. I talked with Rick (assumed owner) and he could not find any overcharges and will refund for a item CHARGED TWICE. Young people should not be overcharged especially those that are working hard in today's world. In further review, I noticed that their policy is snot to use after market repair products which means they only use OEM which will drive up your price. read more

On three separate occasions I've taken my car into them with a terrible outcome. Had a parking cable loose and they could never get it repaired even after taking it back to them. It wasn't until I was hit from behind in an accident that the collision center was able to put it as a result of the accident to get it repaired. I was told the parking break cables were Jimmy rigged with plastic ties . Had my engine valve cover replaced by them 5 mths ago and it started leaking. I started smelling oil after driving and took it to the dealership and told me that it needed replacing again. Had a battery replaced by Dillons that was less than a year old and it was a non OEM battery that failed early. I spent a lot of money repairing work that they did. If you have a foreign high performance/ luxury car, they are not the ideal place to go. They will use cheaper parts and materials ( perhaps even refurbished) on the car. If you need less complicated work done (oil change, routine maintenance) then I'm sure they are fine. read more

I brought my vehicle into Dillon's for a second opinion, after being 'scared' by a mechanic that my car's brakes were in DIRE need of replacing and my family would be in danger if we drove it (scare tactics obvi). I told the Dillon's staff the 'issue' and asked for the opinions, and they were SO kind to me. As a woman, we can be easily taken advantage of at car shops for not knowing what's-what and believing a mechanic's word. They took a full look at my brakes/rotors and were able to find nothing wrong with the vehicle and made sure it was safe for me and my family! The second look was free of charge and he even explained in detail what the current state of my brakes/rotors were. I HIGHLY respect their honesty and transparency. They could have easily 'agreed' with the first opinion and swayed me into a brake job, but their honesty and kindness just gained a future customer!! These guys are honest and fair!! They gave me options, talked to me about what was priority and discussed cost with me. They spent the whole day working on my breaks and around 5:45 pm sent the shuttle to pick me up. This shop totally screwed me over. They suctioned out and replaced my rear differential fluid when I went in there to have them re-seal the leak. So I had to go back and get them to redo it. Surprise surprise, my entire differential goes out 6 months later.... Also they changed my automatic transmission shift cable but left the new one resting on my exhaust. I took my car in last week because it needed new break to rotors and pads. They told me it would be done same day if I dropped off in morning - I was shuttled back to my house and the driver was completely rude. When I would talk to him he would just ignore me and not respond. Then I never got a call about my car and it was 5pm so I had to call and ask for them to tell me they haven't even started on my vehicle yet and that my bill was going to be $1400. My sister overheard and said that it was way too much so we took it to another place to get a quote and I walked out of there paying $300 for everything that Dillons automotive was trying to charge me $1400 for. read more

I took my 2007 toyota camry in to get an ambiguous problem checked out and repaired. Rick greeted me, listened to my concerns, asked probing questions, and gave me a realistic timeframe. Andrew shuttled me home, since it was going to take a while. Around the time that was quoted, I got a call stating, in very clear terms, what was wrong, what options there were to fix it, and how it affected my car. They also quoted me a very reasonable price. I okay-ed the work by phone. When the work was near completion, Andrew returned to my home and shuttled me back to the shop. Rick explained everything in detail and answered my questions. They figured out what was wrong from scratch (even gave me a discount on a rental) and I had my car back the next day! Very friendly and GREAT customer service.
