After a few…read morehours, of probing, testing, finger biting, cursing, nearly electrocuting my friend and tool throwing I found out that my starter wire was bad. The wire from the starter to the starter solenoid had to be replaced. Being referred to Cal Electric from an electrician who doesn't deal with 12V systems, I gave Robert (the manager) a call. I described my problem over the phone and he quickly told me that he would be able to help me. I grabbed my starter and bolted to Cal Electric. Robert looked at my sad starter and told me it would cost 35.00 to fix and it should only take an hour or so. I was excited because a new starter would cost me 250.00. When I came back to pick up my starter, it became the smiling starter as Robert fixed the broken wire and only charged me 30.00! He even tested the starter and the starter solenoid for me too! This place is very professional and I was very satisfied with the work. Now that I've got the starter system fixed, I need to start looking at the ignition system. =( I would appreciate any advice from fellow yelpers that are mechanics or would like to help me! =)

Sergio answered the phone and told me yes he would be waiting for it to arrive and would have a diagnosis for me the next morning. True to his word he called me- told me parts that needed to be replaced, gave me a price that was extremely fair and said they would have it ready the next day. I had told him the car was in an accident last year and I was still dealing with the lawyer so I'm not trying to spend a bunch of money fixing up everything brand new on a vehicle I don't plan to keep. Sergio was understanding of that and stated exactly what needed to do to get it safe & drivable. In the past, I've gone another places where they do less work and take almost a week. The next day they contacted me about an hour before they closed, so I let them know I would have to wait until the next morning to come get it. I like that every time I called I spoke to Sergio. It kept communication very clear and consistent. when I picked up my car, he was very nice and got me rolling really quickly quickly. I drove to the gas station and I noticed a noise I drove back to him, they put it on the riser for me. he showed me what was making the noise and that it is from normal wear and tear similar to the parts we just replaced on the other side. He said we can get to it when I'm ready because he knows I didn't want to keep spending a bunch of money on the car. He assured my safety driving and was very honest about what I would still need to get done on the car. I feel very confident in the work that they did and I've been driving my car now for three days with no issues on the side that they repaired. It also comes with a one-year warranty of parts and labor. As a woman walking into a shop alone, I don't feel ripped off. I feel like they were being very honest, and I spoke to people in the automotive business who assured me I got a damn good price!
