Matt in women's fragrances is AMAZING! Went there for my daughter to find a "real perfume" - transitioning off of bath and body works body sprays. He was super attentive, listened to what she wanted, and didn't stop until we found it! The only issue was with inventory - she wanted the juicy gold and it was not in stock. But overall - we will be back specifically because of him and appreciate the amazing service and support we received from him. read more

I'm giving Dillard's a good review mainly because of, well read those bad reviews. Someone didn't get coddled or talked to the way they expected. Someone else just wah wah cry. I go here every single day in one form or another and it's retail. It's not 5 star Beverly Hills cater to-ing...its Dillard's. You go in, get your stuff, maybe get a little bit of customer service and you leave. Judging by the droves of people there for the sale today I'd say they are doing pretty good without the people complaining about never coming back. Even walking through the store I'll catch a smile or a hello from a staff member. You worried about not enough people? That's labor costs. All retail controls it. You complaining about not enough people and swearing to all holy to shop forever online is exactly why the labor problem exists and you perpetuating it doesn't make it better. Jennifer was amazing! She is incredibly professional and knows her products. More importantly she listens and is very skilled at what she does. She helped me find the perfect foundation-- something I had almost given up on. Jennifer has a personality that is welcoming, as well as great listening skills. This review is based entirely on their CLINIQUE counter. Every time I go to buy a Clinique product, they NEVER have it! Totally unacceptable. This has been going on for nine months now. Each time I have to go to Macy's and they have it in stock. Clearly there has been no improvement even after I voiced my concern to the manager at the Clinique counter regarding this issue. I made a phone call and talked to a lady in the shoe department. I had asked her my question and she immediately started rushing me. Once i told her what shoe it was she cut me off mid sentence and wouldn't let me finish. Let me start by saying that I am a fan of Dillards in general. I love the brand and have been a loyal customer for decades. Now I don't always get great service (and have called it out when needed) but generally have good service and find quality merchandise with a good selection of sizes. This particular Dillards always seems to be slow - meaning it's never crowded - which is a positive in my book. The flip side to that is that you can't always find someone to be in the area if you need assistance. I actually enjoy being able to browse in peace so that hasn't been a problem for me personally. All in all this is well maintained store, always clean and well organized, with a nice variety. read more

Stopped in today with my husband to buy some jeans. We haven't been in Dillards in years and figured since it's a larger department store, we'd have plenty to choose from. We spent a good 15 minutes looking for styles and the correct size. We had some questions about the different cuts and brands, but the woman working in the men's department seemed to be trying her best to avoid helping us or coming anywhere near us despite the fact that there was no one else around. My husband tried on a few pair, but couldn't find the correct sizes he needed. We gave up trying and decided to try shopping online instead for a better selection. I had been searching for a leather jacket for the wife. No other store I tried had any real leather. Dillards had quite a selection. Just as I picked one out an assistant offered help. When I said I had made a choice she brought me over to an open register and rang me up. I had to take a call on my cell while trying to pay so I handed over my wallet and instructed her to pay with cash. She took it all in her stride.It was a great customer experience. I shop at Dillards often, and generally am happy with them, however, I'm not this time. I purchased two shirts, same style, different colors, that I really liked. Hot home, washed them in the washer in Woolite and both of them were ruined. I took them back to Santana Village Monday afternoon, and decided to save myself some steps and took them to the mens department, where I was told by the employee that I had to take them upstairs so they could decide what to do. This is about principle! I am very busy and had already gone out of my way to purchase the second shirt. There was no decision to be made except to give me my refund! I bought both shirts on Sunday, washed them, and they were ruined, which wasn't my fault. I really feel like Dillards owes me, for having to h to o out of my way to return the defective shirts! This review is based specifically for the MAC counter. The girl who was helping me match my color was so rude. She didn't smile or talk to me. When I asked her to match the color she handed me a bag of wipes and told me to wipe off my make up. After she applied the color she told me the color name and started to walk away. I told her I wanted to buy it and she said okay and rolled her eyes. I felt like she didn't want to help me and that I was an inconvenience. I'll never go back to that MAC again! I have been a loyal card member for more than 20 years with excellent credit. I was recently cancelled due to failure to pay after one week's notice of an overdue bill and no phone calls made to contact me. When I called to explain the situation and determine how I would go about receiving my $600 over payment, I was told nothing could be done about the report to my credit. I had a seriously irritating and uncomfortable experience at this Dillard's yesterday*. I went Christmas shopping for boyfriend and wanted to get him dress shoes that are also comfortable. I am no shoe expert so I would expect a notable store like Dillard's to have knowledgable employees. I was greeted by a middle eastern guy about my age (mid 20's) who was passive aggressive about my budget. Yeah, I said some shoes he recommended are ugly and I was on a budget but don't rush me to choose a shoe when they're that expensive for me to just dole out hundreds of dollars for your sake. Then I told him I'd look around first just to see what the competitors are charging in the rest of the mall and asked him if he knew where then men's bathrobes were before I left. He told me they were upstairs to the left. I circled the whole upstairs and it was ALL WOMEN'S CLOTHING! Is this guy deaf? Annoyed, I left and sought out other shoes from several stores. Seeing that they were all in the same price range I headed back to Dillard's where this time, nobody was to be found. I circled that section for maybe 10 minutes before another customer and her mother showed up looking for shoes too. When I spoke to them they said they had come back from looking at other stuff since when they were looking at shoes earlier that nobody was there either. That dude must have been gone for over 30 minutes if that was the case. Another employee saw us and said he would get the guy that works in that department. I told the ladies that if it was the same one that "helped" me when I was there a couple hours prior I would talk to a manager. Surprise! Same unhelpful employee and it looked like he just woke up from a nap when he walked out from the back. He helped them first, which didn't really bother me, but when he spoke with me in the middle of their conversation he basically asked if I had decided already! Once more, I asked what shoes were built for comfort as well as dressy so when he pointed them out he could finish helping the other 2. I overheard some of their conversation and apparently, they didn't like his passive aggressive nature and started to scold him. I guess one of the women asked him to see if a shoe came in a different color so instead of going in the back to check he just said there wasn't. He began to defend himself without apologizing and at the same time tried to stifle the argument because it caused a different employee to walk over to see what the problem was. They were taken care of by the nicer of the 2 employees and left me stuck finishing my transaction with this guy. I had to get the shoe I selected in the right size to I could look but he automatically took it to the register. Ugh.. Can't I look at it one more time before you ring it up? I finally purchased the damn things and walked away relieved and frustrated as contradictory as that is. I came back a couple weeks later on my lunch break (I work in San Tan Village in one of the businesses above the stores) to discuss the issue with an actual manager. She knew immediately who I was referring to and explained that he's new and that she would let his department manager of the situation. By the tone of her voice I got that he's been a nuisance for a while. I got nothing more than an apology which is ok. I just feel like the lack of quality customer service is something they care little to none nor are they concerned with customers experiences there. P.S. A big shout out to a little bit older guy who works in the Men's department. I believe he's from India but I could be wrong. I can't remember his name but he always takes great care of me. I went to Dillard's at SanTan Village to purchase a new pair of jeans. I tried on several pairs and noticed that they were all dirty after I took them off. The floor in the dressing room is so dirty it leaves dirt/dust on the jeans when they touch the floor. I informed the sales clerks about the problem and they said they were aware of the dirty floors but there was nothing they could do. That is unacceptable. read more

Not only was she extremely well versed and educated in what she was showing, but also managed new customers and passerby's, all while helping us and not being pushy. She was fantastic! Anyways I bought a pair of pants that cost $128.00; they were just sitting in my closet not being worn with tags still on them so I decided to return them but Dillards has a 30 day only return ploicy for money back. I tend to steer clear of this store because of bad experiences in the past and because they don't have the selection the Chandler Mall location has but today I was in the area and decided to stop in. The sale items were great but I was completely ignored by the men's department staff (by shoes Dept) and when I did ask a question it was like I was bothering them. THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE THEIR SALE. I worked at Macys this past seasonal year and this August i am getting married so my fiancé and I thought it would be good to try Dillard's to buy a sport coat for me. We were welcomed kindly by a shorter blonde haired lady in the men's suit department. I'm not that big at all I'm 5'9 about 130 and i told her my suit size is a 36-38. I prefer the slimmer fit look. My fiancé explained to her the colors we wanted which will be a cream, or beige sport coat with navy pants. So the only cream they had was a classic fit blazer. SIZE 40 (they only had a navy blue jacket and said we could order the beige) i tried it on and i said this is so baggy there is no way I'm wearing this for my wedding. Then she tried telling me where the alterations would be. And it still looked baggy AF. The shoulders on jackets usually can't be altered as well as the midsection and it looked like i was wearing my dads jacket it looked horrible. No way i would have purchased it. Then to top it off she tried telling me i didn't want a slim look if i was going to be dancing or moving around. I had had enough and explained to her that there was no way at all that i would be buying a size 40. My fiancé said thank you and the lady just walked away frustrated. I was pretty taken back how we were treated. I won't be going to the Dillard's in Gilbert for a while. We then went to Jos. A Bank where found what were we're looking for at an amazing price! The Santan mall location in Dillards is the ABSOLUTE worst store. You could stand there with a clown suit and no one would even look your way. Not once do they ask if you need help and most of the time you do since their products are in the cabinets for the color you need. Also, I have gotten my makeup done there before and it looks terrible. I could do my make up better with out a doubt!!My biggest issue is it happens every single time I go there and this is the closest one to my house so of course I go there. I will definitely NOT be returning to that location. I stood there with my make up picked out ready to be rang up at the register for over 20 minutes and wasn't helped until I started walking away. Went to this location about a week ago to buy an outfit for my anniversary dinner. I was helped by the sweetest employee in the Antonio Melani department and found a pair of pants. Well, that night when I got home and started getting ready, I tried on the pants with the bodysuit I was planning to pair with it and realized these pants really weren't flattering at all and ended up wearing something else. I went back to Dillard's today to return the pants and since I paid cash I was printed a receipt at the register and needed to bring the receipt to customer service for my cash refund (weird). When I went to customer service, I smiled and explained I made a return and have this receipt for my cash back; but before I could finish my sentence the customer service rep took the receipt out of my hand, not saying a word. She counted my money ($128) and I kid you not, slammed it on the counter and walked away. I said um....thank you?? With a bewildered look and as she was walking away she laughed and said "you're welcome". Sooooo who do I complain to when customer service is the one the complaint is against?!
