The food was mediocre at best. Extremely expensive for what you get. I ordered everything specifically with no cilantro, the chef put a bunch of cilantro in it anyway and ruined my meal. When asked about it, he said there is no cilantro in it. Yet I had the waitress taste it and she said it was full of cilantro. The key lime pie dessert was awesome. The flat iron steak was actually pretty good but tiny. Everything else was not that good. read more

What a great little place! We found this by chance on Yelp after doing an event in Nevada City. It took a while to be seated, but once we were at a table everything happen fairly quickly. The complementary brand garlic butter and salsa is excellent. My friend and I both ordered the Panaqueque (so?), one with tri-tip and one with pulled pork. Both were certain with grilled vegetables and guacamole. Very yummy. The Margarito was great and so was the service. As an artist, I just want to mention how cute this place is. Paintings on the wall and Art all over the place, even the bathroom is artsy. This would be a great place for date, except it's a little noisy and there were lots of unhappy children. read more

Diego's catered a memorial for me, and I couldn't recommend them enough. I wanted something simple, and they made 4 different kinds of delicious slider sandwiches on their homemade rolls, set everything up and displayed them beautifully. I found this cute eclectic little mom and pop joint and wanted to try some local flavor that had great reviews. We stopped in to try lunch. The place was eclectically decorated, which I don't mind at all, but it terribly needed dusting and general housekeeping on the decor. They have this lacy thing hanging from the ceiling that was covered in dust bunnies and needed a washing. The hostess was not especially welcoming or friendly, either. We were seated and looked over the menu, for a REALLY long time before the waitress stopped by. I had a couple questions about the specials and menu recommendations, and we ordered a drink. She asked if we wanted straws and salt for our margaritas, and we said yes. After what seemed like a long time, we got the margaritas with no salt or straws, but the waitress has run off super quickly and did not return with the straws. When she finally came back, I mentioned the salt and she seemed super irritated, but returned to give me my salted margarita. Later I had to ask the hostess for a straw, and I was super grateful but she was pissed I bothered her. I'm not gonna lie, the Margarita was weak at best. I paid for mango purée and it was chunky and tasted pretty bland. But it was pretty affordable, and I drank it. Literally ten more minutes went by before she came to put in our order. Now I've been a hostess and a waitress before, so I'm pretty chill regarding service and give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but frankly the service was starting to show some serious gaps. However, there was only one waitress working, so I'm not sure if they had staffing issues. I ordered the sriracha shrimp, because the reviews were great. My man got the chicken enchiladas. The food was pretty good! The enchiladas were pretty good, but were over whelmingly cheesy. I still thought they were pretty tasty, but by now I was famished. The shrimp was delicious. I'd have given better reviews but I could tell the staff seemed overwhelmed and stressed. Maybe I caught them on a bad day? I saw a lot of people ordering take out, and maybe that's the best route. Anyway, I'm happy the food was good. It took fifteen more minutes to close out the check. Hopefully they get some more help because I can tell this place has a lot of potential. read more

Great service, always greated with a smile. Great drink selection with organic options! Yes, organic wine and champagne! The food is flavorful and not greasy. Lunch and dinner full entrees, gluten free options, paleo friendly, and yes they have sweet potato fries that you reminisce about for days. My main draw is that they have the most substantial and complete salad I have ever received at a dining facility. Not an exaggeration as I'm the usually that salad person at the table. Most of the time it's some sad ice burg lettuce or some bitter spring mix with cold carrot splinters, some other garnish veggies or fruits, and protien. Not here, this is a satiating meal to write home about. Roasted veggies( broccoli, green beans, real veggies...) on a hearty organic spring mix with avo already there and your choice of meats ( ahi and roasted pork are my favs ) avo is already included. Everything is the right temp, no croutons or cheese to dance around, and the dressing selection is perfectly suited. Ambiance perfect for a romantic date, birthday party, or brunch with the family. read more

Food was ok. I'm of Latin origin and am used to most types of fusion foods. So this review has that in mind. We ordered the sampler and popusas and tres leches cake and the chorizo crepe. We also had the fried fish and two beers. The group shared and we all tasted each other's dish. We didn't feel that it had depth in flavors and did not like the popusas fried. It also lacked flavor. If you read my reviews they are pretty fair. So I am sad to say all of this. I didn't pay the bill (my brother did) so I don't have the out the door total. We came in hungry!! Heard this place was one of the best in GV, so we came in ordered To Go and was told to come back in 15 min. We set our alarm and walked back into no order. Apparently, malfunctions in the computer happened. Being in a rush to bring food home for kids and hungry husbands, we were beyond frustrated. The owner immediately came to our attention, not only resolved the issue but showed up with bread and wine. Her beautiful personality and understanding of the situation put ease to our stress. My family and I really disliked the food. Which is weird, I can't think of another time this has happened. The food was odd, weird ingredients you don't normally see at a Mexican restaurant. They don't even give you chips and salsa to start. They gave you dinner rolls and a celery sauce!?!?!? Like Diego sold the restaurant to Dan who wanted to get creative with the menu. No Spanish music there and I didn't see anyone that seemed to be of Latin American descent either. Could be part of the issue. We won't be back. read more

I mean papusas and empanadas?! ¡Si! We chose to eat four appetizers instead of entrees and all were well executed almost perfectly. The four of us loved the experience. Didn't care for the filling in the empanadas (just cheese) but dough was phenomenal. And honestly even gooey cheese was good, just not up to par with the rest of the meal. The papusas were seriously legit. Generous portion of crunchy stuffed and paired with a delicious slaw. They had a fantastic traditional flavor. The shrimp was amazing and the sauce with fruit and slaw complete with bacony goodness so hit the spot. The calamari was especially crunchy in that oh so snappy way the perfect calamari can be. My husband even mentioned that he'd not had good calamari like this in a long time. The crispy little O's and tendrils were paired with a bougie remoulade sauce, which I loved. But I also poured the leftover shrimp sauce all over my cephalopods (shhhh) because I couldn't get enough of it. We're all looking forward to returning to try the entrees next time. My mom and I went there for taco Tuesday a month ago and our tacos were generous sized and delicious. They also have the best black beans I've ever had. So flavorful. Our server treated us like we were old friends. She was so friendly, comfortable , and knowledgeable about the food that we thought she might be the owner. She isn't. Darn. I wish I could remember her name... Diego's also offers vegan options and their ingredients are ethically sourced. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. What's not to love? Fantastic Sangria, tastes so great the alcohol it creeps up on you. And it was loaded with fruits. Panqueque was giant and very good; like a cross between a crepe and burrito. Beef skewers were okay, tender but not as flavorful as it looked. But the sides that came with it were very good, especially the fire roasted veges. We also had the chilean coffee with caramel which was a first. Similar to vietnamese coffee in taste (which uses condensed milk). Service and ambiance was great. read more

This is my favorite Grass Valley restaurant. Always delicious, they are very accommodating of food restrictions. The panqueque is a huge portion, so take that into account when ordering. The most delicious hand made bread rolls and chimichurri greet you when you sit down. Everything is delicious. We love to sit on the patio with our dog. The whole place is decorated with mosaic murals created by the owner and her mother. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a wonderful meal. read more

I was excited to try this place because of all the good reviews but I feel compelled to write about what an awful experience we had. The food was mediocre, and that's generous. I couldn't even finish my Paloma. We were the only people of color in the restaurant and there was a tension when we walked in that I don't care to ever experience again. There was a loud older blonde woman server who diverted us away from sitting in her section then proceeded to loudly count her tips and talk about which tables had tipped her well. Locals rave about this place so I was very disappointed with my experience. It looks like the inside of your great grandmother's house, dust everywhere. We were seated for about 15 minutes before a server came over to take our order, we were a bit confused and unsure of the menu still so we ordered calamari to start. It arrived disgustingly soggy and lacking flavor. We sat for probably another 20 minutes and no one came over to finish our order. We took it as a sign not to order anything else and we left. Maybe they were having an "off" night, but it was enough for me to steer clear of this place forever. read more

The only complaint is that the space is very crowded and loud. In some ways that adds to the fun ambiance, but I find it a little annoying. If you like Brazilian food, this is a must. read more
