Ice cream shop
Kimberly W.

Super cute, and friendly ice cream shop. It's so bright and colorful inside and all the staff is so kind, friendly, bubbly and helpful. I was so excited to see such a huge variety of sweets and sugar. They have literally everything from seasonal (Halloween season right now) candy to affogato ice cream, to taffy candy and italian icee's. So much options, so much choices. My partner and his mother got the affogato and they said it was spectacular. I got the sour italian icee, which is a mix of sour flavors and it was also amazing. So delicious and so worth it. We also got a variety of candies. I love options, and variety. I think the best ones were the basic flavors, the "special" stuff was a little weird for me including the pickle sour strip. LOL. Interesting, but a little weird. But a super good experience to try everything and pick from such a huge variety of options.

Old timey ambience at this fun chocolate, candy and ice cream shop. They make the best chocolates. And very cute packaging makes for sweet little gifts. Seating indoors is minimal but you can always find a spot outside to enjoy your ice cream du jour. Needless to say, the kids flock to this joint and it's always busy. Grandma and grandpa always bring home drumsticks to enjoy later on for dessert. My personal favorite are the milk chocolate peanut butter cups! Yummmm...something for everyone.

Black licorice heaven!

What a great place to stop and visit when you're in Grass Valley! I had come to town after a hike and obviously needed to rejuvenate myself with chocolate! What a delight. Walls and walls and walls of homemade chocolates. Three or four shelves of a variety of black licorice, my absolute favorite. And three ice cream freezers. One for Italian ices, one for gelatos and one for standard ice cream. Staff waa super friendly and helpful, guiding us through all of the choices. My hiking companion and I ordered a whole bunch of black licorice, one of our favorites. He then got two scoops of the chocolate ice cream, and I got two scoops of gelato: hazelnut and salted caramel. The ice creams and gelatos were delicious. And the assortment of black licorice was amazing. We brought home a quarter of a pound, and quickly gobbled it up when we got home. If you're in town and in need of replenishing some calories, I highly suggest you stop into this delightful shop with the greatest servers ever.

Stopped by here a few years ago while visiting grass valley and absolutely loved this spot, it's cute, inviting, friendly customer service and the chocolate and drink options are great. Inside is inviting and cute.

This spot is dessert lovers heaven! You will satisfy any and all sweet tooth cravings here! They have chocolate, ice cream, jelly belly's, seasonal sweets, sour belts, licorice, sodas, just to name a few items. It's cute in here, few tables and seating available inside. Friendly service. Highly recommend!

I walked in and was SHOCKED. They have so many choices!! Such a cute little place in the heart of old grass valley. We could have been in and out, but we browsed for a while :) I got a chocolate orange slice and salted caramels. My hubby got chocolate covered Oreos, and my son got a milkshake. Everything was delicious! Great place. We definitely will be back to try more!

Great window display.

Hot afternoon in August...Just finished lunch in downtown Grass Valley and saw steady stream of locals and tourists window shopping with ice cream melting ...like following flowers backwards...we found the Lazy Dog ice cream shop. Steady stream of families coming in for treats while we were there. Good product, mid price, great staff and ambiance.

Nice little chocolate shop, and the best part if they offer free samples! I got to try some double salted licorice and it was lovely. They have a wide variety of sweets to satisfy any craving, and their prices are fair for being in a tourist location. Their branding is also super cute.

Visited August 19th..see both receipts from today. I love this place on Mill Street in Grass Valley! I have been coming here for years and they have kept their charm! They have delicious candy and chocolates and so much more! Love the selection of gummy and ice cream along with gelato. If you like jelly beans you will find them here! My friend got a huge single scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream and I got an assortment of dark chocolates. Their chocolates are creamy and decadent ! They are kid friendly and have indoor and outside seating. Plenty of friendly employees! Always a fun experience!

What a fun little shop in grass valley. We were visiting family there and they suggested this spot for an after dinner treat. We all really enjoyed it but I think the kids could've gotten away with a single scoop because the double scoops were enormous!

One of the cutest candy stores with every type of candy imaginable and an ice cream section. It's the ultimate treat shop and the shopping area it's located in is so nice! Perfect spot to get your Halloween and holiday season treats!

Amazing intricate detail to the chocolate designs of all types

During our stroll through old town grass Valley, we happened upon this amazing sweet shop. It had so many things to choose from, my head started spinning, and I couldn't pick just one of the amazing chocolates or candies. As I drifted to the back of the store I saw all the amazing ice creams, many of them made in the house. As it was a hot day, I decided to go with the ice cream, and it was delicious! The staff was very helpful in picking something from this vast array and the smells of sweets create a wonderful ambience throughout the store. Can't wait to come back and try something new...

There's something magical about wandering the old Gold Rush streets of Nevada City. Me and the boy…read morewere strolling through the historic downtown, poking our heads into little shops, when we stumbled across Treat. Talk about perfect timing. The sun was out, we'd done our fair share of walking, and an ice cream cone sounded like just what the doctor ordered. I grabbed a fresh waffle cone loaded with some kind of almond fudge mocha masterpiece don't ask me the official name because I was too busy enjoying it! The boy got something different, and judging by how fast it disappeared, I'd say he approved too. The waffle cone was fresh, the ice cream was rich and creamy, and every bite hit the spot. It's one of those little places that fits Nevada City perfectly simple, welcoming, and exactly what you hope to find while exploring an old mining town. If you're strolling through downtown on a warm afternoon, do yourself a favor and stop at Treat. Cool off, grab a cone, sit on a bench, and watch the world go by. First class all the way. After all... they didn't name it Treat for nothing. Go ahead treat yourself.

Impeccably done. We ordered the happy hour meat balls, the pumpkin curry special (shout out to Steven in the kitchen) the Bee Thousand pizza! Pizza crust was light, chewy with a gentle outer crunch, it carried a lovely melding of sweet, salty and heat with the toppings. The pumpkin cashew curry was delicious, warming, and nourishing tasting for a cool evening. Meatballs were soft and juicy, what more could you want? Service was thoughtful, casual and prompt. Loved the space, the food and the folks! Thanks!

Bicycle Thief absolutely lived up to the hype! We ordered a half Brooklyn and half Phoenix pizza,…read morewhich was the perfect way to try two very different flavor combinations. Both sides were excellent--the crust had just the right balance of crisp and chew, and the toppings were fresh and thoughtfully put together. The real surprise, though, was the Caprese salad with peaches. It was so unbelievably good that we completely forgot to take a picture before it disappeared. Honestly, it's one of the best salads I've ever had. The peaches added just the right amount of sweetness, and everything tasted incredibly fresh and perfectly balanced. By the time we finished, I was completely stuffed, but my boyfriend still found room for the homemade Oreo and mint ice cream. I was too full to try it, but judging by how quickly it vanished, I'm guessing it was just as good as everything else we ordered. The restaurant has a fun, laid-back atmosphere that feels welcoming without trying too hard, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Bicycle Thief is absolutely worth the drive to Grass Valley, and we'll be making it a point to come back.
