Came in on 12/16/25 with my beautiful wife and adorable toddler, Winnie Superette, is named after the owner's dog, Winnie, and it is an international grocery store. It is small but they have a lot of fun items to look at. I bought couple snacks for my brother's and sister-in-law's Christmas gifts and also one bag of snacks for my toddler. When opened, she had the biggest smile on her face. Thank you, Winnie Superette, we will be returning again and again.

1/18/2025: Okay-we arrived in Nevada City CA--first order of business is an imperative priority, i.e., must splurge buying mochi and a delicious libation called, Calamansi H2O which was egregiously expensive! Aside, the two Customer Service Employees were cool and very informative.

Winnie Superette is such a fun, well-curated spot to explore. Browsing the shelves feels like a treasure hunt, with snacks and pantry staples you won't find in a typical grocery store. I especially love the selection of unique housewares, like beautiful Japanese ceramics. It's also a fantastic place to put together thoughtful gift bags for friends and family.

They carry Japanese golden curry blocks. Great for a NYT bean and vegetable Japanese curry dish. They promptly respond to phone calls!

I love the convenience of having a large scale Asian Grocery store in Folsom for when I'm visiting…read moremy family nearby. We like to take mom to South Sac to go to all of the stores but sometimes we just need a couple of items real quick and that is where this particular store comes in. The store is located in a large shopping center that is not very busy at all. There is always plenty of parking available and the parking lot is very easy to navigate for a quick in and out. That's nearly impossible to do at the popular Asian grocery stores in South Sac. The store is never super crowded and plenty of space to shop at your leisure. The shelves are well stocked and the store itself is always very clean. One of my guilty pleasures here is the fried fish. You can purchase a whole fish from the seafood section and they will fry it for free. We always ask for it to be "extra crispy" because we eat it at my sister's house that is about 10 minutes from the store. Always crispy and tasty. They also have a hot food section with a variety of pre-made items and some dim sum as well. All in all, a great option to have in Folsom.

Merchandise was pretty well stocked and there was a good selection of products to choose from. The prepared hot foods seemed to be all "self-serve," much of the fare looked pretty appetizing. Only two of the main check stands were open when I was there, and there was a bit of a wait, but once I got to the register the clerk was friendly and helpful. Overall I think this is a nice, clean, well organized store that I will happily visit again.

I just moved back to town and was pleasantly surprised to see this GORGEOUS tienda! I've never seen…read moreone so clean and so adorably decorated. They have a huge selection of authentic specialty food items, a takeout restaurant, party decor, home decor, and jewelry--- like you don't even have to go to Mexico. The staff is also the nicest, and in case you need English spoken, they do! I had a housewarming party coming up for about 45 people, so I had El Barrio cater for us without even first trying their food. (I know, crazy, right?) I'd fallen in love with the whole vibe of the store that I wanted to support them, so I took a chance. And I am SO GLAD I did! We ordered 45 taco entrees with 3 types of meat plus 2 types of salsas, rice and beans (--and omg, those pinto beans are to die for)! Every bite of the entree was delicious, and my guests were huge fans, too. We had SO much food left over that most of my guests took some to-go and we STILL had a ton left; luckily we'd bought a bunch of Tupperware just for this reason! I wish I had taken photos of the store and our catered food, but I just wanted to be in the moment and enjoy. Next time I go there maybe I'll record a video of the store and post it here. Till then, you'll have to go for yourself, and I hope you do!

" STOP SCROLLING - If you're in Grass Valley and haven't hit up **El Barrio Mexican Market** yet,…read morewhat are you even doing with your life?! I rolled up and ordered the **shrimp burrito**, expecting solid street-style Mexican vibes. Holy mole, was I underprepared. That FIRST bite? Straight fireworks - juicy, perfectly seasoned shrimp exploding with flavor, fresh ingredients, that ideal tortilla hug. I thought, 'Okay, this is already elite.' Then came the second bite... third... fourth... and by the FIFTH bite? Pure transcendence. The flavors just kept building, layering heat, zest, and that addictive savory punch without ever overwhelming. It didn't peak early - it escalated like a boss. Every subsequent bite somehow topped the last, turning a simple burrito into an unforgettable flavor journey. This isn't just food; it's a revelation wrapped in a tortilla. Authentic, made-to-order perfection from a spot that's bringing real corazón to downtown Grass Valley. If you're craving Mexican that hits different, do yourself a favor: get the shrimp burrito at El Barrio. You won't just eat - you'll ascend. 10/10, no notes. Already planning my next visit!"
