    Happy Senior Exercise Class!
    Steve R.

Today was our first experience dining at Soulful Kitchen. We came in with a large group. The young woman immediately set up a large table for us. The menu is really unique. The proteins available are rock fish, grilled or fried, and mushrooms, grilled or fried. Using your protein preference, the choices are fried with chips, bowls with brown rice and amazing vegetables, or salads. Sauces are added and the result is delicious! Various sides include black eyed peas and rice, Mac and cheese, and others. I made ate a bowl with grilled mushrooms and a small peas and rice. It was superb. I also enjoyed their cacao drink. The concept of this restaurant is healthy organic food, with a leaning towards vegan!

The chicken was cooked perfectly, all sauces provided were so tasty. The beans had huge delicious pieces of pork- so good! The service was great, I even saw them give a sample to a lady who wasn't sure was an item was. As far as the ambiance goes, it's a nice place for a quick sit because the inside is so small (but there is also outdoor seating). Inside could benefit from some lamps and less bright overhead lighting for a more inventing dine-in experience- in my opinion. But overall great spot and I'll be back!

After last night's tasty giant platter of food, I'll be back. Order: large plate, ribs and chicken with mac n cheese and green cabbage (for the health factor ). Hubby's order: small plate with brisket and mac n cheese. Plus a cherry lime fresh squeezed lemonade. This is a small place with large flavors. Seems like most orders are to-go although there is a small patio area for when it's not hotter than shit. Workers are hella kind. Customers waiting for food will chat you up about why this place is so good. The large plate was huge. Jerk chicken was spiced so well...that almost too spicy but I can't quit eating it. And not a dry chicken piece in the bunch. Ribs were smoky and spiced well. Mac and cheese, noms. Cabbage was also delish with bits of bell pepper mixed in. But I stole a bite of that brisket and I wanted more more more. From my one large plate, I have 2 additional meals of leftovers, which makes it well worth the price (and support our local places please!). Also, the hot sauce? Pretty sure it's homemade. Plates, bowls, salads, sandwiches. Starts at $9 and I think the most expensive plate was $25. You won't regret eating here.

The restaurant has a ton of seating and the walls are nicely decorated. I would say maybe add another mural on the other side because the one wall that has it, is beautiful! They have all these great hot sauces at the counter, make sure you try them all! My fave was the scotch bonnet pepper sauce. Spicy and a tiny sweet. We ordered two beers on draft, the jerk chicken, curry goat with a side of mac and dumplings. The dumplings are almost donut hole type bites with a hint of sweetness. It goes so well with the curry! The goat curry was interestingly delicious. I didn't think I would like goat - but here I am. It was very VERY good, just look out for all the little bones. The jerk chicken was flavorful and tasty and the side of mac n cheese was the perfect blend of noodles, cheese and spices with the meats. I also want to thank them for the delicious Jamaican patty filled with beef that was given to us. It was very good and the puff pastry was baked to perfection! Our server was great and the cook/I think the owner was wonderful. This was our first time having Jamaican food and I will say, we will definitely be back and I've already recommended this place to a few people. YUM!!!!

Find a table and they will bring you the food. They offer soups and salads, some appetizers, and Sandwiches. But they specialize in Empanadas. You can choose your fillings of meat or veggies. One empanada was good enough for me for some you might want two (for a meal). I love the sauces they serve as well, my personal favorite was the Chimichurri (which consisted of Fresh Chopped Parsley, Olive Oil, White Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Garlic, and Lots of Spices). I loved it! Last but not least they are not stingy with the fillings of the Empanadas. I had the ground beef, it was so juicy and hot (temp wise). Oh, the Empanadas are so cute, they put the Eid own little stamp on it. And each one is labeled with the type of protein you ordered (see photos). In this cafe, you can play board games while you wait for your food. They even have books and toys and all kinds of things to entertain yourself with. I feel like this place is a good spot to hang out for families with kids. Note: did I mention the owners of the place were so nice and friendly? Thank you so much!!!
