Perhaps heating the plate first? My wife wants to go back for the hamburgers and I would like the Huevos Rancheros again but "La comida debe estar caliente" Otherwise the food was good but a bit pricey. This is a cute little place for brunch when in Northern Auburn. It is in a small mini mall by an Ace Hardware. It is a family owned and operated restaurant, and has a very old school country vibe: Wooden furniture, tablecloths and flowers on the tables. It is cute and has outside covered seating as well. I went with a party of 4, and everyone ordered breakfast items, except me. I was in the mood for a fresh salad and chose a "taco salad" style plate, complete with fried flour tortilla shell, fresh greens, grilled chicken breast, beans and guacamole. I am not into the fried tortilla, but it always makes a great presentation. Unfortunately the salad was just "ok". The grilled chicken was cold, not really grilled and dry. In addition the quac was clearly from a packaged pre-made container. It was fine. The others in my party were happy with their breakfast items, the plates were large and everyone enjoyed the potatoes. They offer the usual breakfast items, as well as large egg omelets, french toast, sandwiches, salads and specialty Mexican inspired dishes. This is a local spot. The food is average with small portions. Not terrible just average. It's hard to mess up breakfast food.

Service was horrible, I ordered lizs scramble with rye bread and country potatoes. Potatoes were burnt and no flavor, the scramble was suppose to have 3 scrambled eggs and it clearly only had one egg, was mostly canned mushrooms and a bunch of holidaise sauce to cover up the missing eggs, the young chubby boy brought me sourdough toast and I told him I ordered rye bread so he took the sourdough back waited a few minutes and then tried to give me the same sourdough toast a second time ( pure laziness). I had to stop the only waitress to get my correct bread I ordered. They charge $18 for basically a can of mushrooms smothered with holidaise sauce and burnt potatoes. read more

Had a delicious brunch with my bff and her 98-year old mom a few days ago. Service was AMAZING and the food was really beautiful and pretty tasty! My hubs MonteCristo was a bit different from the norm but still tasty and Very generous with the ham and cheese. My carnitas w pico de gallo lacked a bit of flavor and weren't too hot but the carnitas themselves were very crispy and good and not greasy! My friends eggs and veggies were yummy and fresh! Food; Expensive, low quality, and small portions. I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was the worst I've ever had in my . It wasn't even a real piece of meat. You could see it was made in a factory because the "meet" was a compressed some kind of ground up meat and breadcrumbs. Then it was breaded and deep-fried in the factory. They just heated it up in a microwave. It came with hashbrowns and my portion was about the size of a cigarette pack and a half inch thick. Service; sat down at 10:02 AM and our order wasn't taken until 10:18 AM. It took 28 minutes to get all our food. There were four of us. Each meal came out one at a time. The waiter and the bus boy never noticed we had no utensils to eat , even after serving the food. We had to flag someone down in order to get silverware to eat with. Two of us were done eating before the other two got their foodAfter we were done eating, we sat for another 10 minutes waiting for the check. Finally, I went inside to pay the check or we probably would've sat there for another five or 10 minutes waiting for the check.. Ambience; that was OK. They have a patio you can sit outside. Great locally owned cafe. I've been here for breakfast and lunch but always get breakfast burritos no matter time of day. Prices for breakfast burritos are a bit on the spendy side but they are delicious and filling and come with a cup of salsa, crema and potatoes or fruit. The fruit by the way is always top notch fresh and ripe. Great friendly service. You can tell when you walk in that the people seated at the tables are regulars who come here often. I was in Reno visiting a friend and she took me to Sunrise Café the service there and the food was excellent. So I said maybe there's one in the Roseville Sacramento area. Found the one in Auburn, which no affiliation with the one in Reno. I read the reviews, and decided I wanted to try the café in. My brother and I drove up from Roseville today. We found the service to be excellent the and the food fantastic. Our compliments to the chef. The prices are reasonable. We both had veggie omelette. It came with hashbrowns or home fries potatoes. and toast.. We will definitely make this a biweekly excursion to come to Auburn just to go to the sunrise Café. It is truly gem. read more

Thanks to the COVID-19 virus, and the orders of the state, I haven't been able to able to enjoy any restaurant dining for over a month, as the state only has been allowing take-out, delivery or curbside pickup, and those methods aren't in my dining "book." Thank goodness last Thursday, the state lifted on-site-dining restrictions for restaurants in the greater Sacramento area! At last, I was able to enjoy dining again! Sunrise Cafe, located outside of Auburn had been on my "bucket list" for a couple months, so today, this fine diner received the honor of being my first restaurant to visit in the year 2021. As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greater at the cashier's station, which does "meet and greet" duty as well, and you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member who will greet you with a smile. I was greeted by friendly Mari, who was also my server. The main dining room is quite large, and separated from the bar by a wall. Dining room furniture is widely spaced, during these virus times. It's clean, comfortable and features a "country" decor, in keeping with the rural location of the restaurant. The back end of the restaurant includes a small bar, which includes two stools, but effectively can only seat a couple of diners, if they're together, thanks to state guidelines. It's mostly a coffee bar, but under the current ownership, the restaurant serves beer and mimosas. From the "Breakfast Specials" section of the menu, I ordered "Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs," which happens to be one of my favorite breakfast entrees. The menu describes this fine breakfast as "Served with home style potatoes, hash browns or fresh fruit, with toast or biscuit." It's a simple description for an elegant breakfast! The "main attraction" was the chicken fried steak. The flattened piece of steak was on the large side - probably about 6 ounces - and it arrived batter and fried to a beautiful golden brown. The meat-to-batter ratio was spot-on, as the batter enhanced and complimented the steak, but didn't overpower the taste of the perfectly cooked meat. The batter was crispy, the meat was tender, and the meat/batter combination made for a simply amazing chicken fried steak. But... a chicken fried steak isn't complete without gravy, and the gravy that I enjoyed with my breakfast was as good as gravy gets. The gravy was creamy, flavorful and topped with lots of small cube of cut-up sausage, diced green onion, and a sprinkle or two of seasoned salt. Sunrise Cafe didn't skimp on the gravy, as a generous portion of it topped my steak. Like the steak, the gravy was amazing! The side of hash brown potatoes were partially topped by the steak, which made for a nice presentation. The hash browns were perfectly tender on the inside, and cooked crispy golden brown on the outside, the way hash brown potatoes should be fried. The mark of a chef with talent is when you order your eggs fried over easy, and they arrive as ordered. The chef at Sunrise Cafe has talent, as my eggs arrived perfectly as ordered, fried over easy. The side of sourdough toast was perfectly toasted, sliced and coated with lots of real butter. Simply delicious! The slice of orange and parsley added a nice garnish to this fine breakfast. Dear readers, Sunrise Cafe serves a delicious breakfast! With the breakfast of "Chicken Fried Steal and Two Eggs, when you add everything together, you have a breakfast to enjoy! My long-awaited visit to Sunrise Cafe was truly worth the wait, as the food was absolutely delicious, the price was right, the atmosphere was quaint, and the service was super fast and friendly. As the motto of the restaurant states, "Rise and shine, breakfast is ready," and that's a true statement at Sunrise Cafe, located in Auburn, CA. read more

This has been our main go-to local spot for weekend brunch. The food choices are great and covers all of the standard basics with a few extra bells and whistles thrown in. They have some nice "south of the border" selections as well as several vegetarian alternatives. Lots of fresh ingredients and nothing that has been reheated in a microwave. The lunch menu is also pretty extensive with many hot sandwiches and several salads. The service is excellent and most of the staff are part of the extended family of the owners. Some of the kids who were toddlers when we first started going here are now young adults and staffing the ranks. Their pride shows whenever we've been there for meals. I'm glad they are now going back to serving dinner a few nights a week after COVID put a temporary halt to that. The ambiance is nothing fancy but it's dependably clean and the outdoor al fresco option during good weather is always a major plus. read more
