Why haven't I eaten here before? The food was delicious. I ordered the Chorizo, which is made in house. It's nothing like Chorizo I've had before--it was much better. It came with mildly spicy charred masa crusted potato cakes, and grilled veggies with a salsa verde sauce and an arugula garnish. The service was exellent. I enjoyed the chill, relaxed atmosphere too. I plan to return soon to try the chicken Adobo. read more

Visited September 19th. This is a newer place in Grass Valley. I had a dental appointment and didn't have much time but my girlfriend wanted me to try this place. She ordered the Arepas plate to go. I only had a couple bites because I had a dental appointment but my friend inhaled the food! It was tender with alot of flavor! The place inside is very small but welcoming. There is some seating outside but remember you are in the parking lot area in a complex with other small businesses (laundrymat..local radio station..barber shop..etc). Comedor catered our wedding reception and the food and experience was more than I could have dreamed of! They provided the best service from the very beginning when we met to discuss what the menu would be, and on the day of the reception took care of everything for the entirely of the day. Since I am vegan, but my spouse and most guests are not, they made sure there were some vegan options which, to me, was the highlight. They made two amazing appetizers that everyone loved, a main course with sides and dessert. I heard from so many guests that the food was some of the best they had ever had at a wedding. We were so thrilled when Comedor opened up in Grass Valley. The food is incredible, and different than anything else we had in the area. The thing I was most excited about is that originally, their menu and kitchen was 100% gluten free. We popped in recently and that was no longer true (to note for Celiacs), but Comedor still has a ton of gluten free options. It's really fun that you can get the chorizo meal every time but get different veggies based on the season. The way they prepare their vegetables is so uniquely delicious and it's always fun to see what they creatively have done with the menu when dining there. read more

We went again to Comedor this week...it has become a weekly visit because the food is over-the-top delicious, fresh and incredibly creative.

We were in Grass Valley for 6 weeks. Came across this place after visiting a family member in the nursing facility a couple doors down. Over the 6 weeks we tried just about everything on the menu a couple times over. Dishes ranged from really good to mind blowing. Our favorites were the Belly Enslada, Chorizo and Chicken Adobo. Service is friendly the place is comfortable. It is a little hard to find since it is tucked away in a little strip mall but it is worth finding. Prices are a little high but for the quality of food it is worth it. I am looking forward to hitting this place on our next trip to Grass Valley. read more

YUM!!! I finally ordered two meals here and will be coming back often... why? Well the food is incredibly delicious and is very healthy. I ordered the arepa plate which was perfect. The arepa was moist and had smoked cheese inside( not a ton which is my preference) and came with flavorful black beans and a scrumptious and very fresh salad with a piquant dressing. I also ordered the chicken adobo plate which came with deliciois collard greens, rice with nuts and the chicken adobo. Delish!!! I also just had to Try the pandebono, I couldn't quite figure out what it was by reading about so had to have one, plus I love guava.. It's like a hollow Brazilian pao de quiejo with a delicate spoonful of guava jam inside. Yes, that was incredible!!! I have no photos but next time will add some. We want to thank Comedor, especially Rene and Rose, for making our friend's wedding rehearsal dinner so fabulous! Comedor was easy to work with and did an extraordinary job. The food was beautifully prepared and graciously served. To whet our guest's appetite, we ordered the arepas with smoked mozzarella as a passed appetizer. This was followed by a buffet of mixed green salad with a citrus vinaigrette, chicken adobo, rice and sauteed vegetables. Every dish was delicious but the chicken was some of the best I've ever tasted. We received endless complements from our guest for this meal.
