    Ahi tuna, tataki style

An unexpected gem just off I-80 in Colfax, Three Pines did a wonderful job of delivering a wide spread of dishes. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. The restaurant is well-lighted, not too loud, with enough space between tables to foster personalized dining experiences. Each of the following were tasty, methodically seasoned, and beautifully presented. * Ahi tuna (takaki) * Slow-braised short ribs * Chicken Marsala We don't often pass this part of the world, but Three Pines has definitely been added to our revisit list.

Good breakfast stop in Colfax. Feeling an omelette & choose the California Supreme, with bacon, shrooms, Ortega Chiles, pepper jack cheese, topped with sour cream, avocado and sour cream. Came out quickly hot & filling. Opted for the biscuits and gravy. Rich with fresh made biscuits, chunks of sausage in the gravy. Mrs D's French dip was rated at two thumbs up. Garlic butter roll with grilled onions. Side of cole slaw. Friendly service, adult beverages served, but the bar area was closed when we dined mid day. Parking out front. Will return for dinner in the future.

Three Pines is an absolute standout, and a huge reason why is the bartender Candice -- she makes this place. Her cocktails are creative, balanced, and honestly way better than the overpriced, forgettable $30 drinks at the Ritz-Carlton. Not even close. The bar has great energy, great people, and a vibe that keeps you coming back. The food is solid, the crowd is fun, and the drinks are next-level. If you're anywhere nearby and don't stop in, you're missing out. Amazing drinks, amazing atmosphere -- this place is a must.

This place is really great and easy to get to right off of I 80, the staff is wonderful, especially Candace, she gave us details about the specials without even looking at anything written down, and she had great wine suggestions and the food was amazing! Highly recommended!

First time coming here. First impression was that I didn't care for the ambiance or the music. I almost left though the waitress got to me before I did so I stayed. She was hard working as she was the only waitstaff and had lots of table inside and outside. She was doing an awesome job. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon hash browns and biscuit and gravy. The eggs were fine, the hash browns were okay though they only brown one side of them and the were a bit oily. The bacon was not good. Tasted like old bacon and some of it was undercooked. I sent it back and replaced it with sausages. However, the sausages were overcooked and burnt. The highlight of my meal was the biscuit and gravy. It was really great. I loved the flavor of the gravy. I'd come back and get the biscuit and gravy with eggs and skip the potatoes and meats.

    Short rib nachos were delicious.

The inside doesn't match the outside. It has a very welcoming outdoorsy vibe. They also have a pretty big back patio to sit down and dine. I was able to try multiple dishes, however my order was their "South Western" salad. I read all the ingredients and was excited but ended up super disappointment. The salad was missing jicama, avocado and the tortillas strips. It also was suppose to come with ancho chile grilled chicken. The chicken had zero seasoning and was very very bland. I'd give the salad a 3/10. (See pic for reference). *French dip was very good 9/10 * Grilled chicken sandwich 9/10 * candied bacon 10/10 * short rib nachos 10/10 * chicken marsala 6/10 ( had a bed of gummy rice) * fried calamari 5/10 ( the fried lemon was super bitter). The staff was friendly and attentive. Overall I'd give them a strong 4 stars.

More like 3 1/2 stars. Great place to stop on the way to Truckee/Tahoe area. We picked it due to it having a dog friendly patio and an array of menu items that sounded good. Both my wife and I chose the house burger. To me the fries were the star of the plate. Double fried and crispy tasty nuggets - yum! The burger was good, not great. Service was good and the restaurant was clean. Overall a good pick for a pit stop. (Fast EV charger behind the restaurant was a plus)

Went here with my mother and father and 12-year-old daughter and everyone loved their meal. It's a nice size restaurant with lots of seating. Our waitress was especially sweet and kind. She indulged us teaching my 12-year-old about paying bills and ordering food. I would definitely stop by here again if wherever on our way out of town that direction! Rating of the food: Dill crispy chicken sandwich: 5/5 (not overpowering all the dill flavor, although I would not have minded that lol) kids, chicken strips and fries: 5/5 from my 12-year-old the chicken strip expert philly melt on sour dough: 5/5 from my dad vegi tacos: 5/5 from my mom (but she did say the salsa was a little too spicy for her, she has a spice level of zero lol)

Crab cakes Benedict with hash browns
    Cody A.

Saturday lunch with our dogs on the patio was nice (beware of yellow jackets.). We were seated and served water right away. Ordered crab cake (coated and deep fried) benedict with hash browns (way too salty, not worth the extra $4) and corned beef hash with eggs over easy and English muffins. We would skip the crab cakes Benedict next time. Same owner as Dine n Dash. New name and look n feel since July 3025

Needed to get out of the fog so we headed East! Convenient location, right off the freeway-we arrived about 9:30am on a Sunday and were seated right away, definitely got busier after 10. Nice decor, dark but very open and spacious. Food was good, gravy was delicious and the Bloody Mary with bacon was fantastic! Salt and pepper shakers need an upgrade. Would come back and sit in the bar area-it was hoppin by the time we left.

I was simply trying to determine whether the charge was legitimate. I first spoke with a very pleasant employee who explained they were busy because of the weekend, took my information, and said someone would most likely call me back early next week. I also contacted Chase to report the $845.61 transaction as unfamiliar and asked them to investigate. About two hours later, at approximately 9:45 PM, I received a call from the owner, Brian, while my 6-year-old daughter was next to me as I was reading her bedtime story. Instead of asking questions or trying to understand why I was calling, he immediately accused me of being a scammer and told me that "you and your family should die a horrible death." I was shocked by the hostility. My daughter asked me what the man meant by wishing us to die and it took me a moment to come together to senses what to say to her about it.. I understand that business owners receive scam calls and can be cautious. I get them all the time and some times it gets annoying. However, there is no excuse for speaking to another person that way. I immediately called back, left a calm voicemail and gave him the opportunity to return my call to apologize. I never received a response. I want to be clear that I do not know whether the unfamiliar charge was caused by this business, their payment processor, or something else. Chase is investigating that separately. My review is based solely on how I was treated during that phone call. Ironically, my father and I actually stopped at this pub on that day of June 5. We looked at the menu, decided not to eat there because of the high cost menu prices, and instead had a great lunch at Burger Me in downtown Truckee and even took a selfie with food as it was delishious (tuna burger was incredible - highly recommend). After reading other reviews mentioning similar interactions, I hope the owner reflects on how customers are treated. As a husband, father of three, and a nearby property owner, I expected far better professionalism. I have written over 100 Yelp reviews over the years, and the vast majority have been 5-star reviews because I enjoy recognizing businesses that provide excellent service. Unfortunately, this is one of the very few times I've felt compelled to leave a 1-star review. I do not like to leave poor reviews and I sincerely hope the owner reflects on how customers are treated and chooses to do better in the future.
