Wild Eye Pub is great. There's nightly entertainment that is always amazing, but even more so we love sitting in the bar and enjoying the atmosphere. The owner cares deeply about both the pub and her customers, and the wait staff is always attentive and friendly. Super nice all around. The FOOD is way better than we expected for a pub. Everything we've tried is delicious--but I particularly have to recommend the bread putting. It's PHENOMENAL. This is definitely a low key, fun, local spot. ZERO stars actually. We went to a special event tonight and couldn't have been more disappointed in the service and food quality. After our table mates were served we sat for almost 45 minutes before we were notified they lost our order AND the special we order had sold out. Yet, even after they told us they were out of chicken they continued to serve the special to the table next to us. After we selected something else from the menu another 20 minutes passed before we were served. The CA Cobb salad was about as big as a side plate and hardly any chicken and the hamburger was overcooked and WAY over seasoned. 2 hours from walking in the door to getting served. They tried to make amends by comping our meal..I understand restaurants can run out of food but when you "run out" you serve the people who put their order in 30 minutes before the latecomers are served. The event was good but there is EXTREMELY limited parking. The interior was hot as it didn't seem like the AC was working at first. Bottom line- it's nice to support small businesses but this one needs some serious schooling in restaurant management. read more

This place seems like a hole in the wall type of joint but when you enter, it's a beautifully decorated historical space. The bar area is gorgeous with Tiffany lamps seated at some tables. The bartender was so nice when my friend and I visited, hardly anyone was there at the time because they were transitioning to dinner service- I assume, at least. My friend and I both got cocktails (can't remember what they were) and both were good! We decided to try their beet hummus platter which came with lots of delicious and fresh toppings along with some herbaceous focaccia bread. It was one of the best appetizers I have had in a long time. We also ordered the Amaretto Bread Pudding which I guess was a seasonal item at the time- in my opinion, it should be on the menu full-time. It really was that good! Unlike anything I've ever had before, and soaked in that lovely almond flavor with moist and buttery bread pudding. This place is so cool. You make you reservations and get to see a live band while you eat. The service was quick and super friendly. One side is the big bar area and the other side of the building is a sit down and eat with live music. The food was like going to a high class restaurant the mushroom soup which is vegan was so good. Where do I even start?! We had an utterly delightful evening at the Wild Eye! There was live music and the band was amazing! Great vibe in the air with people enjoying the heck out of themselves. They were super busy but the bartender and servers all made plenty of time for us and out questions; the owner was waiting tables herself, which is always a great sign that she knows exactly what's happening in her business. Our other server Amber was charming, and she can dance! We had the hummus to start and it was presented absolutely beautifully! We had a few cocktails, is hard to know if Lavender Haze or the Broken Zipper were the best. The patty melt was solid, and the bread pudding was popular for a reason. My one criticism is that they're not open for breakfast because I was ready to go back in a few hours. What a delight; we will be back each time we're in town! read more

Parking can be difficult during a musical event so we came early, grabbed a spot right next to the restaurant and went into the bar, upstairs, to wait for Dream and the Dreamer band to start. Before you go check the website for what music is there and what the cover charge is. We were served immediately by a friendly bartender. After a few minutes one of the servers came by and said that everything was ready out by the band so we found our reserved table and waited for our friends to join us. We ordered our food right away because if you wait the kitchen gets backed up. Our table ordered a Patty Melt, Fish and Chips, and Chicken Club Sandwiches and everything was very tasty and well prepared. The menu features locally sourced food with some items being a bit eclectic for my taste. So we were seated by a creek, had a great band to listen to, and it was beautiful weather for an outdoor event. In all a great evening. read more

First time there was invited by a customer to go dancing. No one was out the door so I guess I missed paying the cover charge sat down tried to order calamari but they were sold out. I ordered the burger $17 for a burger with nothing else $7.50 for fries that were cold. The most expensive drink price I've paid in Nevada County for a cocktail over $13. The music tonight was fantastic but $60 including the tip was a bit too much next time I'll come in fed with my own drink or just water and I'll pay the cover charge if I ever go back, but the music was fantastic. When I ordered the calamari she said they were out so I told her give me a burger she didn't hear that so over an hour later the owner comes over to me asking for a cover charge and I told her I'm still waiting for my dinner two hours at that point, not impressed. I will only go there for the music and a glass of water. Do they charge for that? and I paid cash even though they charged me a few bucks for non cash payment . Their menu says the burger is 15 bucks but I was charged 17 just for a tiny burger with nothing else. No thank you read more

Ok...stopped in today for lunch and really not wowed or impressed. Really dark interior and just nothing to look at. Thank goodness our waitress Beth, was very sweet, attentive and friendly or this would have been an absolute bomb for us! I'll make this short since I don't have any great things to say. $15.00 hamburgers with a side salad of some kind. Neither of our burgers were anything great...very blah! Side salad, small and blah. Hey...where's the french fries or some other fried side? All that blah and you get to pay $15.00 for a burger with little side salad. Super overpriced!! Customer service is terrible. It took literally an hour and a half to get served. My son's over cooked hamburger was cold. After giving the band a big tip in the tip jar they still wanted more for the band the owner was singing in when I cashed out. Because they have no business because of their terrible customer service (I've been there several times. It's always bad) they have a cover charge to see bands in order to pay their expenses evidently. This is Something no other restaurants and breweries in the area do. I have been wanting to stop in for awhile and decided to stop in on a whim with my guy. First of all, there was a super fun band playing and we were greeted at the door by the land of the house, seated and offered to put the sliding scale cover on our tab. We were seated at a candle lit table with another gentleman (she asked if we were open to that). It had an old jazz, blues club feel. Decor is old, warm and historical for the building, dont let it scare you away!! This place is a gem! I personally really love the older, decor she left in place. It feels so comfy and cozy! The room was so lively and we had really good responsive service at our table. The food is all really high quality, not Cisco crap. Local when available, high quality humanely raised meat and at better prices then Ive seen for high quality anywhere else in town. The Mac and cheese is killer! Btw Most drafts where microbrew with the standarfs also available. We opted for a last cocktail, The Broken Zipper, really well made cocktail, and only 7 bucks! I'd expect to pay 12 at the Golden Era for the same. It is clearly a family establishment and the were all really accommodating and helpful. I will definately be back!!! Wild Eye Pub caught our eye driving by looking for a restaurant bar for the eight of us to enjoy. We checked out the rest of town and ended up back at Wild Eye. Their food and cocktails were very good which you can find in other restaurants. Besides the food and drink Beth, the owner was a Hoot. She and our server Alex made us feel like regulars. Whatever you have here don't leave without having Beth's Bread Pudding and make sure you ask Beth the story on how she came up with her recipe. Music was EXCELLENT which made up for the food. Also they have a great wine list, which was awesome. I had the portobello burger. It was very bland. I would suggest to the cook more flavor to the red pepper sauce, perhaps a green chili on the burger or some seasoned roasted veggies on it. You really just taste the bread and an unseasoned portobello the way it currently is. Hubby had the ravioli and expressed the same comment, very bland. Perhaps some roasted garlic and a touch of smoked paprika would liven it up, and some walnuts or pine nuts on top would be a great addition. read more

My friend and I ate burgers, salad, and portabela mushrooms with pesto and mozzarella and tomato. We got fresh-squeezed lemonade. For those complaining about the size/price of the beef burgers, you have to remember this meat comes from local, pasture-raised, grass-fed beef (from very close by)! My friend said it was like beef she had never had before!!! I said, it is probably because the cow was really healthy! The spot was adorable and gave a very low-key, unassuming vibe while still being professional and beautiful inside. Stopped here at the recommendation of a friend and unfortunately was disappointed. The cover charge for the band was eight dollars which I felt was ok because the band was really good. Our server was super friendly as well, so that's two out of three. Unfortunately, the food was overpriced, considering the lack of creativity and small portion size. Had a very dry and boring Chicken and Artichoke sandwich with some undercooked beet slices for 15 bucks. The large pub salad was another loser, just made with mixed greens only. It was overpriced too, considering the lack of veggies or flair. Drink prices were pretty average as was the beer selection. Bottom line would be, eat elsewhere and go here for drinks and dancing. read more

Stumbled onto this place while driving through grass valley area. Very cool little spot. It was empty but they had just opened. It was pretty chilly in there and we had to hunt down someone to see if hey were actually open, even signs out from could indicate it better. Maybe put some bells on the door or a buzzer that lets the back of the house know someone has entered. If I wasn't starving and needed to use the restroom, we might have left and missed out on giving this place a shot. Once we were finally seated, the waitress/hostess told us they are pretty new and they are busy generally at night because of there music venue. She was very soft spoken, nice and informative. She seemed to be the only one working and scurrying around to get things done. Definitely not trying to ignore anyone just doing everything it seemed. Well on to the food, We decided to share a plate so we could have dessert. We opted for the chicken mushroom teriyaki sandwich. Deliciouso!! So juicy and flavorful. Yum yum yum. We had the mixed greens as a side with homemade balsamic vinaigrette which was perfect. Only thing I didn't like is when you get a side salad on a tiny side plate and you can't mix your dressing without knocking half your salad onto the table. I'd opt for a little bowl but that's a personal request. Lol. We also had a cup of roasted red pepper and eggplant soup. When it came out I was a little leary of its appearance but it was pretty decent. I think having some texture from bread or crackers would have been a nice addition but still tasty nonetheless. Maybe a grilled cheese combo with this for lunch would be a big hit! Finally finished up with a piece of key lime pie/tart thing. It was in a white chocolate cup. I wish the graham crackers crust was just a smidge thicker. It was ok, I mean we basically licked the plate clean, but all key lime is just ok once you have had the real thing (my blue heaven in key west). Only thing we didn't like at all was the jones fountain sodas, both the coke and root beer tasted flat. Mentioned it to server but I'm guessing this must be how the soda is supposed to be because she didn't seem all too concerned. Overall I loved that the food tasted very fresh and locally sourced. I went there last nite for my daughters 7th bday and had the best time! Our whole family was there and we started off with amazing clouds of jupiter from.ol republic brewery. Our server Beth was fantastic. The kids food came out first which was great, nowhere else does that anymore. They were hungry! I got the pork sliders with ginger tumeric krout on em, and it was so delicious id buy it by the jar! A charcuterie plate was the best app as well. They have a toy basket for the kids, genious. We enjoyed our dinner. We split the salmon salad and chicken Dijon sandwich with potato salad, and tiramisu for dessert. The salad was good. The creamy wasabi dressing was surprising delicious, the salmon was perfect. The sandwich was really flavorful and filling, and the potato salad was outstanding. The tiramisu was wonderful. I think that this place has potential! My husband had a Cali chicken sandwich with potato salad. He thought both were extremely yummy. He also had one of their beers on tap. He loved that as well. They only had 2 beers on tap which I find odd for a pub, but they are just starting out and it could also be due to today being a holiday. Most people are at home drinking their own beer today. Lol. I thought $7 was kind of pricey for the beer, but it sounded like it was a special beer and I don't drink beer, so that's likely just me. I had the Wild Eye burger with a caprese salad. The burger was good, but I compare all burgers to Pine Street since they have the best burgers around (in my opinion) and it wasn't as good. This wouldn't matter too much except for it was almost double the price. I feel $15 is too much for a pub burger that isn't "great". The caprese salad was ok except I thought it odd to not have the tomatoes cut in it. I feel that having the tomatoes cut adds to the flavor of a caprese salad... otherwise it's really just grape tomatoes in a bowl. To put this in perspective...I must add to this that I am very picky. Clearly. Lol. Though I didn't think my food was fabulous; I give it 4-stars because my husband loved everything about his meal and the staff is super duper nice.
