This is such a cute little dive bar. Was not expecting the spectacular covered patio and view. Quirky little dive bar with all sorts of frog decor. Worth a visit! Cheers

Would recommend! Post hike rehydration station. Don't tell your friends. Sit on the back patio for the views and the nostalgia of second hand smoke. Frosty beer & jalapeño poppers hit the spot. Dive bar with a view. To be honest (from one lesbian to another) some of the clientele might be a tad homophobic but the bartender is really cool and has excellent trail tips. Worth the stop!

Cheeseburger, french fries (mountain), jalapeño poppers.

Great music in the background, mellow/country. Service was fast for drinks, a little slow for the food. Burger was really good, french fries were good, though a little soft. Jalapeño poppers were decent. I would go back again, especially for just drinks.

Craig P said turn off at the Colfax exit. Just off highway 174 is this rustic bar over looking a timber filled valley. As we pulled in around 2:30 on a Friday afternoon, we all rolled our eyes. The parking lot was full of motorcycles. What was Craig thinking taking us girls to a biker bar ? But walk straight thru the bar to the back where there's a large back porch bar. (Full of bikers, just enjoying the view and beer like us). The view is spectacular. Miles of trees. Stone outcroppings. Blue skies. Red frogs hanging from trees. And timed right you can see a train ride the mountain side. Service was quick and with a smile. The menu prices amused us more than the bikers. See picture below. $1.87 for corn dog. $6.05 for cheeseburger. Cute. Two cheeseburgers, mountain of fries, wings, corn dog and five adult beverages had a check of $45 for four people. Decent food and drink with stellar view at great prices- acceptable !!! Swing in for a break from I 80 driving and check the view and food out. You may even get a fist bump and a smile from a very large biker.

Right place to just relax and look at the best view in Colfax. Taco Tuesday is my favorite. Most taco you can get for the money.

We made our way in on a Friday night, no reservation, but no big deal. We expected a bit of a wait. Upon entering, I was dryly greeted by the hostess. She was dry and didn't even smile. That first impression took me by surprise. She took my name and told me 40-45 minute wait for two; although there were several empty tables and no other parties waiting inside or outside that I could see. We were called to a table 10 minutes later, which was a great surprise. The ambiance was nice, a bit chilly near the front, but pleasant. Our sever greeted us, no run down on specials, just a simple "can I get you a drink". When we were slightly indecisive, she seemed get impatient and said "I'll come back". We received that statement several times from her. It honestly felt as if serving us was a bit annoying to her. At the end of our meal, we were informed by a male server that her shift was over and he was stepping in. She never once came back to let us know. D- on the service. To the food. The Brussel sprout dish was great, packed a punch with flavor. The crab Rangoon was good - liked the jalapeños. The chicken sliders lacked flavor- it was missing something. Overall the vibe was weird - that's the best word I can find to describe. Food was alright, service was unfriendly, doubt we will be back.

You'd be forgiven for thinking you were in the wrong place or about to make a mistake and put yourself into a sketchy place. We looked around for a more "realistic" entry way not knowing the most realistic entry way is one that looks like a back door to a closed vacuum or furniture storefront. That's exactly the point. You knock. Immediately, the door opens. A man in a cowboy hat looks you over. He doesn't wear a name tag. He doesn't need one. He asks, "You have something to say?" If you've done your homework, and say the right thing, the door stays open. You're in. I do not know what happens if you do not have the word. What follows is less a bar and more a pocket of time. The interior is small but well conceived. The bar sits directly at the entrance, flanked by a few standing guests and several small tables. Beyond that, the space opens up into a lounge with seating for six to eight, and a longer bench-style area for a dozen or so. The walls are dark, the lighting low. It's the kind of place that feels like it remembers what Prohibition was, even if most of us never lived it. It felt like walking onto a movie set where we might be extras, and the main characters would enter and play out a scene. It was a perfect example of a speak easy in full swing. Even the glassware was legitimate. The decor is intentional. Books tucked into corners. Stags mounted on the wall. Nothing feels store-bought or trendy. It's immersive without trying too hard. The seats were not overstuffed contemporary types nor were the tables or even foot stools. They all looked like they came from a speak easy back in the day. About the only thing that did not look like the real thing were the patrons, as they were dressed casually, and of course the iPhones. I suppose that would have caused quite a ruckus during prohibition! Conversations are constant, layered over each other and laughter. It gets loud, but not obnoxious. There's a rhythm to the space that holds. My suggestion is to not go at 7pm on a Saturday and hope to get a prized table, couch or seat. Now, to the drinks. House Divided serves anything you ask for, but they lean into the theme. Classic cocktails done right. Throwbacks with historical lean. Creative new entries like lavender martinis that aren't just gimmicks. Each drink feels made by someone who knows what they're doing and takes pride in the process. This is not vodka-soda speed bar territory. It's craft, and it shows. I did not see a bottle of ocean spray anywhere, but what I did see were large glass bottles labeled with the juice or concoction held within. The little details are obvious! If I were to translate my usual framework:    *   Ambiance and Service: 4 stars (it can get loud and if you are here to have a conversation it will be difficult)    *   Quality: 5 stars- I had a simple drink - vodka and cranberry. With something "special" that the tender added. I don't know what it was, but the taste was wonderful! Way different than my standard go to!    *   Value? That depends on whether you're measuring price per ounce, or the fact that you just got to walk through a green door into another world. But in reality, 5 stars. Do I wish for more seating? Yes. Perhaps more quiet? Yes. But if it were those things, would it be the same? No. My guess is going on a Saturday at 7pm is going to be a bit crowded, and loud. That's my fault, and testament to their quality. Next, I found the staff to be great! Even the doorman gave it character, cowboy hat and boots and all! Great experience!

Who doesn't love the idea of a speakeasy?? We decided to head to Roseville in pursuit of a secret place. We found the secret door, knocked, and a young man answered. He asked for the password. Unfortunately I am not on social media and that's where you're supposed to find it. Bummer! I decided to use my own password. It worked and we entered the inner sanctum. It was a cool, smallish place with nice decor. The bar was the first thing we saw. I looked around to see a few tables and couches to the left. It was pretty early and there were only a few people there so we got a cozy little table in front of a velvety couch. I went to the bar where a burly tattooed OG bartender greeted me. I ordered an old fashioned and a raspberry lemon drop. My old fashioned was done very well. I'm on an old fashioned kick right now and love to try them at different places that look like they know how to make them. This one was really good. My friend wasn't so keen on her lemon drop, saying the lavender was a bit overpowering. We had another round and this time she had something different that she enjoyed. My second old fashioned was just as good as the first. It was getting later and more people happened to have the password and it was getting crowded. We were done, paid the tab, which wasn't bad considering how most speakeasy's can be pretty pricy. Overall, it was a great experience, the place was nice, friendly, and the drinks were done well. Give it a shot. Find the password, or use your own if you dare!
