My first review from a few years back disappeared and I remember I didn't care for this place so when friends wanted to meet here I kept my opinions to myself and agreed because my friends wife loves the place, she orders pizza to go a lot. We ordered pizza and salads they both looked good. The beer was good and they do have a pretty good number of rotating beers and wine. I added a side of fries they arrived in your grandma's wooden looking salad bowls... you know the ones. Frozen grocery store steak fries not bad but $8!! Come on! The whole bag is $5.99! This is a really cool place to try a new beer or catch the game. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgeable, you instantly feel welcome here. There's an arcade for the kids, sports in the TV and LOCAL wine and beer. They have non-local too, but it's really tasty to pair local wine/beer with their delicious food. Their pizza is very American style with lots of toppings, you can smell the tomatoes sauce and garlic as soon as you walk in. The onion rings are on point! Main Street Pizza (aka Basement) has in the kitchen a chef with a creative flair. An enormous Southwest Salad and Fish Tacos - plated with care - were followed with this remark: "It's goodish". Neither could be what I'd describe as actually good, but it was apparent that someone had put a lot of time and care into the preparation and presentation of these offerings. They bordered on beautiful. That said, the salad left me to comment that I wasn't sure the creator understood the assignment. The combination of chicken, iceberg lettuce, tortilla chips, olives, avocado, hot peppers, and more proved somewhat off balance and would've benefited from a tastier dressing. Still, even the "regular"-sized salad left me full with enough remaining for a whole second meal. And the fish tacos were 100% consumed in spite of the feeling that they too fell short of delicious. Main Street Pizza/Basement is a causal spot which feels a bit more like a bar with food than a restaurant with a bar. I think it may be the only place in Colfax at which to satisfy an urge for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon and in that they proved successful. read more

Came to Colfax for the first time to check it out and stumbled across this quaint bar and pizzeria. It was clearly family owned and ran like we were part of their family. Unfortunately they are not consistent Some times the pizza is amazing and other times its over cooked and dried out. It depends who is working. When owner is there the food is great. We have been going for a couple years now about once a month. The last time they were bad. Time before that it was great and todays was no good. First time to Colfax. Cute little town worth exploring. This place was in the downtown area where Railroad Days was being held. Kids were hungry so we ordered what we thought was quick and easy. Due to RR Days, the restaurant was probably busier than usual. The owner said they were also short staffed. They didn't have a table ready when we got there so I ordered at the register and waited for a table. About 10 minutes to get a table. Large pizza and large steak fries were more than enough for a group of 4. Between 2 adults and 2 kids, we still took home half the pizza. The menu had other stuff, but everyone around us was eating pizza, so when in Rome... Food took about 30 minutes, but the time went fast with the crayons and coloring books the restaurant had on hand for kids. Steak fries were good. Pizza was heavy cheese and pepperoni. Pretty good food and the quantity was more than enough. Giving this place a 4 based on quality of food, value and service. Wife really liked it. This past Saturday evening my friend and I went to Colfax for a special lecture. We only had a 1/2 hour but we were hungry so we saw this place and decided "what the heck" having never been in the town before. They were very busy and we could only hope we'd be able to shove in some food fast and get going. We ordered our individual pizzas and waited. When pizza was delivered we had 10 min to eat and get to our meeting. In one bite we decided we could be a bit late as we had no desire to leave this pizza behind! It was awesome! The atmosphere is simple and charming with a touch of rustic early last century. As we watched food come out of the kitchen we could only hope we'd be as lucky as the other patrons... and we were. Kudos to the owners/management for this delicious find in the foothills! We look forward to making a special trip to Colfax to try more of this menu! read more

Grabbed a couple salads for lunch one Saturday before noon. Order taken and received food in short time. Salads were a bit overpriced $15-$17. Rye and pumpernickel croutons are not for everyone, and we wish we knew that was the only option. Waiter never checked on us, and we could have used some basics like salt and pepper, napkins, and sufficient dressing. Not going bad. We stopped in there to get a pizza and almost no one in there at the time. 20 minutes later, he says another 5 minutes. Then a flood of other people started coming in and we noticed we were the only ones wearing masks during a governor mandated order to wear masks. So I walked by the kitchen area to look and see what was going on in there. No one wearing masks. Finally the pizza came as we were about to give up. we gave the pizza to another party as we decided not to take any risk. We arrived at 11:45 Sunday morning. We found this business and looked up their reviews, they sounded good so we decided to try it. We read the window mounted menu, we ordered the pesto pasilla chicken sandwich and an Italian sandwich. We also ordered 2 iced teas. The young man that helped us disappeared for about 4 or 5 minutes, we could here him in the back doing something. He came out with 2 glasses of tea, then he said that they don't have any ice. I asked what kind of bar/restaurant doesn't have ice?? He said they get ice from a bar down the street but they weren't open yet. We sat outside, the table cloths were dirty even though he cleaned then. It took 20 minutes to get our food. The pesto pasilla chicken sandwich was boring, it lacked flavor. The Italian sandwich was very tasty. I think that things would have gone better if there was more than one person working. I will go back and try the pizza next time. read more
