Visited March 11 2026...see my receipt as always. It was a lovely day in Grass Valley and decided to come into the Owl after a long drive. They open at 11am. I had the Texas twinkies which are filled with pork and cream cheese and then fried inside a large jalapeño. Delicious and so was the dipping sauce! I also enjoyed a glass of wine while sitting outside for a bit. Plenty of inside and outside seating. DOG FRIENDLY outside! It's a classy yet casual place with a full bar. I have been going here for several years and it has changed hands many times but this owner has it dialed in! Great relaxing time in a beautiful environment. Friendly waitress ( I think her name is Heather). Btw. They have awesome steaks!

Oohhh I did not realize this spot excited and glad I stumbled upon it. Delicious. I was craving red meat and of course got the steak frites. I got it with truffle fries. I'm pretty sure the steak was supposed to be 8oz. Idk if it's been a long time since I've seen 8 ounces because that steak looked massive. And the amount of fries was just as insane as well. Am not complaining because it was all so delicious. I asked for a side of the aioli that comes with the truffles and the chimichurri aioli (that one was meh). To drink I had a Shirley Temple. Service was great. Love the ambiance. I looked at the dessert menu and everything is made in house. I'm so mad for eating so much of the main course because I want ALL THE DESSERTS. Will definitely be back.

Let's think what do I not like about this restaurant? Atmosphere? No service? No greeting when you walk in? No. Ok, it is perfect. But what I love the most is the chef. The salmon was cooked to perfection. But before you take your first bite is looks awesome. See pic..

From washing hands to meeting Justine, we relaxed, relying upon his knowledge of "tonight's fresh catch. To the awesome mixology of Justine, we were entertained, with tempting smells as we awaited our dinner

Dine into the past. From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed by the friendly staff. The food is excellent and there was a variety of menu choices to please our party of 4: From filet mignon to salmon to prime rib dip to portobello mushroom entrees accompanied by a choice of 2 sides with each entree. We were all happy with our selections. We were pleasantly surprised with the unique appetizer of Texas Twinkies. The presentation in shot glasses with individual servings for 3 people was fun. The Billy Blue Bread was our only disappointment. There's ample free parking in the back, and check out the Del Oro Theatre when you're in the vicinity. The tavern is located in a pedestrian promenade with many interesting shops. Enjoy!

Went here on a recommendation from a friend who lives in town, did not disappoint ! It was a Sunday night so not much was open anyway but this place had plenty of seating ( larger than it looks from the street ), good parking ( or in our case walking distance from our hotel ) and delicious food. Service was fast and friendly Con : lots of flies in the entry way / end of bar if the door is open which happens with the small foyer . But otherwise great experience .

Very cool historic decor, sort of speakeasy/saloon vibe. Food was tasty. The sourdough was piping hot with delicious orange blossom butter. The salad was picture perfect and unfortunately I don't have a picture for you...we dug in before I got the shot! Truffle fries were crispy with lots of Parmesan. White linen cocktail was light and refreshing. The maple infused old fashioned was reviewed as voted one of the best (and these two are in the know!). Service was friendly (if a bit slow, but the place was busy, so you know it's good!) and we are very thankful for their checking with the kitchen about our food allergies.

    What are the Texas Twinkies?

Texas Twinkies are a jalapeño stuffed with brisket and cream cheese and then wrapped in bacon and rolled in cornflakes and fried to perfection. Served with truffle aioli. They are delicious!!!

Menu is not overwhelming so you know everything should be pretty good. Ordered the Smoldering burger with extra patty, the nut burger, kids plain burger (cheese not included and is extra--didn't add it here) (comes with chips and fountain drink), regular dog with cheese, and 2 order of fries. Came out to Bout $65 tax included. Everything is made to order. You can taste the freshness. The patties on the burger are generous. I mean the kids burger is a 1/4 lb patty. I believe it looks to be the same with the other burgers. Even if I just stuck to a single patty, it would not have felt like the bread was overpowering due to the bacon and other toppings on the burger. The burger was dang good. It looked and tasted like a $15 burger (more like $19 since I added an extra patty for $3.80). Just wish fries were included at this price point. The surprise here is the vegetarian Nut burger. This thing was flavorful. Good mouth feel and satisfying full of flavor. If I was mistakenly given this instead of a real burger I would be ok with it. Some people may not like the texture--as it is nutty, but its not too bad. Fries were fries, but using their house made ketchup for it along with the burger just enhances it. Didn't try the hot dog, but it was finished so I'm assuming it was fine. Only gripe was my smoldering burger seemed to be cooked too much as it started to get on the drier side. Not totally well done, but would have been better just if taken off a little sooner. Maybe the cook just lost track of time on this one. Definitely coming again when in the area!

Small burger. The ingredients were minimal, from the size of the pattie to the amount of brie. I hardly tasted the brie. The fries were thin cut and soft and too salty, no crispiness at all. The shakes are overpriced. They ask for tips but it's self service. You order with the cashier, get your food at the counter...Just like MacDonald's or Burger King.

We called right away, and while the employee apologized and admitted it was their mistake, the only solution offered was to "take it off the bill." That doesn't really help when you've already driven 30 minutes home and now have an incomplete meal. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. Offering a refund doesn't fix the inconvenience, the time lost, or the fact that part of our dinner was missing. A better effort to make it right would have gone a long way. We didn't just lose money...We lost time, convenience, and part of your meal. A manager should have gotten on the phone and said something like, 'I'm really sorry, we messed up. Let me fix this for you.' A sincere effort to problem-solve, not just a refund. Really hoping more attention is paid to orders moving forward.
