    Lunch menu

This wonderful little place is a step back in nostalgia when small breakfast/lunch counter restaurants existed in towns across America. Located in the heart of Grass Valley it is nestled among other restaurants, pubs and retail spaces. You could walk right by and miss it but the windows are big and people seemed to be coming in and out constantly. Peering in a folks sitting and eating by the window the food looked good! We decided to try it for lunch and glad we did. It was really good. The service was friendly and top notch, the place super clean, and either counter or table seating. We slid into a table for two. The menu is typical for a cafe/diner with a few standouts, for either breakfast or lunch. We ordered hot coffee since it was so chilly out. The mugs were refilled often, which was nice. We both decided on sandwiches, although they do have an array of burgers, salads, soups, etc. I got the Andouille sausage sandwich that came on a Hoggie type bun and Ed had the chicken pesto on a burger bun. For the side we both upped the price for garlic fries for me and sweet potato fries for him. My sandwich was delicious with lots of meat and melted cheese. It was a bit messy and greasy to eat, but that's part of parcel of this type of meat sandwich. It was quite filling and the fries were tasty, and came with a Ranch dipping sauce. Ed seemed content wirh his choice as well. They don't seem to carry or push any desserts, which is fine with us as we rarely get it. This is a great little place and I would definitely go back.

Delightful.the eggs were cooked to a runny perfection and the sauce elevated the rancheros. Everything was fresh, even the OJ. Pancakes were a little undercooked and could have been fluffier. Who doesn't love downtown grass valley! A lovely outdoor seating area on the walkable street, love to people-watch there.

Pepe's Coffee Shop was the perfect stop while walking downtown in the rain. It has a classic diner vibe. It was warm, relaxed, and welcoming, which felt especially nice after being out in the weather. I had the cheesesteak, which was filling and comforting, and the French fries tasted fresh and crispy. My partner ordered a bacon burger that was cooked exactly how he asked for it. Our son got a grilled cheese, and it was simple and perfect, definitely kid-approved. Everything came out hot and well prepared. We were seated by the window, and it was actually really nice to sit and watch people walking by outside while staying dry and comfortable inside. The waitress and servers were genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It's the kind of place you stop into by chance and end up really enjoying. We'd definitely come back next time we're downtown.

The food is consistently high quality fresh, flavorful, and made with care. What really stands out is the customer service. You're not just treated like a guest, you're treated like family. Even if I didn't know them personally, I'd still be recommending this place! Highly recommend giving them a try!

This is a classic breakfast and lunch cafe with some nice extras. The menu included the standard breakfast and lunch fare with the addition of Huevos Rancheros, Baskets, and Frittatas. We selected the Bacon & Cheddar and Pit Ham Frittatas. They were delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. The coffee came from Caroline's, a local Grass Valley coffee roaster, and it was excellent. We'll be back to try some of the other extras.

BBQ Bacon Basket. Those two disks of sourdough on top are the most perfect toast you will ever experience.

Friendly little diner serves modern versions of traditional diner fare. If you're ordering breakfast, check out the section of "baskets." These are "egg in a basket" dishes (egg fried in the middle of a piece of toast) with assorted toppings. My BBQ Bacon Basket had perfectly cooked bacon and was delightful and filling comfort food. The iced tea is made with real tea. Prices are very reasonable.

Solid coffee house! After reading the other reviews I went…read moreand asked for a "large cappuccino" just to give them a good laugh. We run a mobile coffee business, so seeing some of the reviews that said they were "disappointed" that they couldn't get a large cappuccino or that macchiato would be a small drink is frustrating. Starbucks has ruined the coffee experience for majority of people. Espresso drinks are made with specific ratios of milk to espresso so making something a "large" that's designed to be a 6 ounce drink, doesn't work unless you want to pay extra for extra shots. I wish people knew what they were ordering before giving a coffee house a 4/5 starts. *Sigh*. We got a brown honey/hazelnut latte and brown sugar cardamom latte. We make all our own syrups for our coffee trailer so we're bougie. I like the sweetness of the honey/hazelnut but couldn't really taste the hazelnut. The cardamom latte had an interesting savory component that I wasn't a super fan of, but overall, good coffee!

They were very busy, given the holiday weekend so it took almost 15 minutes by the way. When they finally called the drinks out, they had only made mine a dirty chai, so they had to add espresso to hers. Fine. I was excited to drink it but both my friend and I took a sip and made the same exact disgusted face. There was nothing redeeming about the drink, and it tasted like chalk. The stars for this place were for the scone, which was delicious. That said, the chai was awful and I wouldn't recommend.

You can tell they really care about the coffee they procure and brew. there was some amazing looking pastries and breakfast sandwiches that I'm definitely gonna have to give a try my next time in. absolutely obsessed with the abundance of burlap sacks full of coffee beans showering the shop and personally loved that they had an entire list of all the beans available for purchase including region and flavour profiles. That isn't often easy as many close in the early afternoon, usually not open after 3pm. I was delighted to find Caroline's open to 5:30. YES! It's a delightful and charming shop off the beaten trail of touristy places in downtown Grass Valley. The array of coffee products was very satisfying and they highlighted a special Pistachio Latte! Sounded good so we got it, a 16oz for the afternoon 'pick-me-up'. A bit on the sweet side it nonetheless hit the spot for a coffee. They have a wide array of tea options too. The service was friendly and very good. The coffee came to the red pickup counter in good time. There are lots of cozy cafe type seating both inside and out. The choice of muffins, baked goods, or other snacks were slim just because it was late, but undoubtedly good too. If in Grass Valley, try it.

All was going fine, and we were happily bopping to the music while my pastry was being heated, but my pup yelped at a clearly non-dog person and the manager (?) came out screaming at me "THAT DOG CANNOT BE IN HERE!!" I am happy to avoid businesses with anti-dog policies if they are posted (was not). And, by law, a business has to ask you if it's a service animal before asking you to leave. Regardless, I would have been happy to leave with my already purchased product, but the woman kept screaming while I was waiting for them to hand me my pastry. I was so embarrassed and angry with her attitude, I spilled my coffee on the sidewalk outside as I was trying to get away from her. There are service-oriented ways to address this type of situation - yelling at your customers is not one. Especially followed by a snide "have the day you deserve" as I was leaving. I will never return and will discourage others. Ftr, went to Flour Garden and after hearing the story, they gave me a discount on my replacement latte. The pastry sucked, by the way - overdone on the outside, claggy on the inside and no flavor.
