    Huevos rancheros

Delightful.the eggs were cooked to a runny perfection and the sauce elevated the rancheros. Everything was fresh, even the OJ. Pancakes were a little undercooked and could have been fluffier. Who doesn't love downtown grass valley! A lovely outdoor seating area on the walkable street, love to people-watch there.

The food is consistently high quality fresh, flavorful, and made with care. What really stands out is the customer service. You're not just treated like a guest, you're treated like family. Even if I didn't know them personally, I'd still be recommending this place! Highly recommend giving them a try!

This is a classic breakfast and lunch cafe with some nice extras. The menu included the standard breakfast and lunch fare with the addition of Huevos Rancheros, Baskets, and Frittatas. We selected the Bacon & Cheddar and Pit Ham Frittatas. They were delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. The coffee came from Caroline's, a local Grass Valley coffee roaster, and it was excellent. We'll be back to try some of the other extras.

BBQ Bacon Basket. Those two disks of sourdough on top are the most perfect toast you will ever experience.

Friendly little diner serves modern versions of traditional diner fare. If you're ordering breakfast, check out the section of "baskets." These are "egg in a basket" dishes (egg fried in the middle of a piece of toast) with assorted toppings. My BBQ Bacon Basket had perfectly cooked bacon and was delightful and filling comfort food. The iced tea is made with real tea. Prices are very reasonable.

Eh, it's ok. Prices are comparable to Toffeneli's, and food is the same quality. Ok for a quick breakfast.

Our second visit here & the four of us enjoyed our breakfast…read more Busy place on a Sunday morning and about a 20 minute wait. Started with a Cappuccino & a Mocoa, both were hot, delicious and not overly sweet. I had the full order of Lobster Eggs Benedict. Eggs cooked as ordered, generous amount of lobster, Jalapeno holidase, avocado ,crunchy well seasoned country potatoes, filling rich and satisfying, dusted off the whole thing. Mrs D had the Corn Cakes, substituted chicken sausage for the hot links with eggs over easy. The Corn Cakes were similar to potato Pan cakes, slightly garlicy with a spicy aioli sauce. Well executed and she loved it. Even though they were at full capacity the service was top notch and all the employees we encountered were smiling and helpful.

Lobster sandwich was not great with melted cheese to hide the fact. My $35 bill was not worth a local lager, side salad and half a sandwich I ate. Here are my / our experiences and observations: 1. After trying just about everything on the breakfast/lunch menu, I have yet to had a bad meal. The food is always done just right and the flavors excellent. 2. The service is amazing; when your not looking the coffee mug, water or cold beverage glass is always kept full. Often the waitress will come around to check if all is okay. The waitresses are very well dressed and groomed with personalities to match. 3. The restaurant is very clean with a touch of home environment. What are my favorite meals: Breakfast: Their "Waffle (plain or Belgian), eggs (cooked to your liking), bacon or sausage (patties or links) combo" is awesome. Lunch: They are known for their burgers, fry's and onion rings - the best. The same can be said for their Patty Melt and French Dip sandwiches. Awe heck, all the sandwiches are GREAT! They offer a couple of various flavors of soups daily, all very good, especially their Lobster Bisque when available! YOU KNOW A PLACE HAS TO BE GOOD BY CHECKING OUT THEIR PARKING LOT. From 7:00 am until 1:00 pm the lot is usually full, however their seems to be a good turnover. WAIT FOR A SPACE TO BECOME AVAILABLE, YOU WON'T REGRET IT !!! Since we were in Grass Valley we headed there for lunch. The interior is woodsy and homey, with a country edge. There's a pleasant inside and a really nice outdoor patio area. We opted for indoors as it was a bit cool outside. Seated right away, we got menus, which are EXTENSTIVE, for breakfast and lunch. The omelet section alone is mind boggling. Service was quick, efficient and very friendly. These folks have it down and probably have worked there for awhile. After perusing the menu and getting iced tea, I chose the Long John burger (ordered medium rare) that seemed very tempting and Ed got the Caravan sandwich with Roast Beef. We both ordered a side of the Sweet Potato fries (included!). Expecting a tall juicy burger difficult to get my mouth into it and super messy I was pleasantly surprised to get this very long piece of bread instead. It was much easier to eat and I wasn't slobbering it all over myself. Bravo! The flavor, amount of meat, grilled onions and everything else on the burger was perfectly delicious. Ed's sandwich looked amazing and he really enjoyed it. We both agreed that the grilled onions were absolutely made to perfection and the sweet potato fries some of the best we ever had, especially not soggy or greasy. The kitchen knows what they are doing. They have a very interesting and enticing drink menu and had it been dinner I probably would have tried a couple. I was sold on this place, thanked my friends and want to to go back for dinner!

From the start, we felt as though we were being intentionally overlooked in the waiting area. We waited for over an hour while the room gradually emptied, yet several parties who arrived well after us were seated almost immediately. Unfortunately, the service did not improve once we were finally seated. We were seated at a table too small for our party which included 4 adults and 2 children. Our waitress, whom we had not encountered before, was unwelcoming and largely absent throughout the meal. She forgot part of our drink order and overlooked one member of our party entirely--both when taking drink orders and again when taking food orders. Overall, this visit was frustrating and disheartening, especially given our history with the establishment. We hope this was an isolated experience, but it left a lasting negative impression.

We called right away, and while the employee apologized and admitted it was their mistake, the only solution offered was to "take it off the bill." That doesn't really help when you've already driven 30 minutes home and now have an incomplete meal. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. Offering a refund doesn't fix the inconvenience, the time lost, or the fact that part of our dinner was missing. A better effort to make it right would have gone a long way. We didn't just lose money...We lost time, convenience, and part of your meal. A manager should have gotten on the phone and said something like, 'I'm really sorry, we messed up. Let me fix this for you.' A sincere effort to problem-solve, not just a refund. Really hoping more attention is paid to orders moving forward.
