Great food great service pricey food $ but Worth it if you can afford it, Dine in or out in vehicle is nice to.

I had high hopes for this revitalized car hop restaurant. Big disappointment. First, the car side boxes are really just menus with QR codes, so any hope of a nostalgic experience is immediately out the window--no pun intended. It's basically like ordering from Door Dash while sitting right outside the restaurant. And tipping without first seeing the total, which was weird. The order is acknowledged via email and then you wait. And wait. And, in my case, wait and wait. Over 45 minutes for a kraut dog and fries! If I hadn't prepaid I'd have given up and gone home. The person who brought my bag of food was apologetic, and the food, which just took home, was fine, but I was too hungry to care by then. With so many great options in town, I can't see a reason to revisit this one. read more

We went by just to try an old fashioned "car hop" where they bring it up to the vehicle (like Sonic). It was fun and the food was not bad. The burger was a real burger- not the thin small patties that are becoming more common everywhere. We haven't gone back for the dumplings yet but will get those next time. read more

I went in to treat myself to lunch on a warm day, looking forward to eating in and enjoying cooler temps. It was 84 degrees inside! Staff advised the owner does not allow the ac to run cool. Poor staff have to work inside the stuffy and warm restaurant. I dont understand how this makes senseto the owner. They will loose customers for not wanting to support a business that in fact does not care about the comfort of their staff or customers! read more

Root beer floats are still delicious and the only reason to go here since they re-opened. Potstickers were ok. Burgers are obviously frozen patty, low quality....meh. read more

Owner and staff were very friendly. Owner recommended I try the homemade potstickers. My bf got the burger and fries. No drinks. I got the potstickers. Total Cost $40. The potstickers were slimy, cold and had no taste. I ate one. BF's burger had low quality meat and the bacon tasted off. Our dogs liked it all. So sad, I really wanted to like this place. read more

Food was just a terrible as before new owners. It's like they didn't change anything. Frozen patty, dry over cooked and expensive too. 30 bucks for 2 burgers and 1 fry and 2 waters. Won't be back till someone buys and trys again. We don't need another over priced frozen burger place..... read more

I took a bite out of my cheeseburger and the meat wasn't edible. The root beer float was good but the cheeseburger was awful. I won't be back. read more

I came here with my family after a long day and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. My burger was served cold, even though I had requested it well done--the meat was still pink and cold, which honestly made me question if it had been frozen. I asked for it to be reheated, along with my chili which was also cold, but both items came back still cold. At that point, I was already frustrated. Thankfully, I had also ordered a salad, but after just a few bites, I found a large hair in it. I couldn't believe it. I was refunded for the two items, but by then I didn't have anything left to eat. I heard a manager was called, but overall, the situation was handled poorly. Given the multiple issues, I really believe my entire family's meal should have been refunded. Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

I've been 4 times since new owners took over. 2 times good food and good service. 2 times, including today, mediocre food and terrible, unprofessional service. The young cook with a hat on is the hardest working and consistently good employee. The 2 young ladies are also very professional and hard-working. However, the 2 young men in front are very unprofessional, especially the blonde one. They talk WAY too much, negatively about past customers, door dash drivers, and fellow employees, causing them to miss orders that are ready, getting cold, and waiting to be delivered to customers. The owner today was also very unprofessional, speaking loudly and negatively about employees who were not present with the young male employees in front. Lastly, a second cook with long frizzy hair had no hat or hair net. Nasty. Unpleasant experience. It's really too bad. This place has so much potential but is run by incompetent people for the most part. If I go back, I will turn around and leave, depending on who I see working. read more

Can't review any higher or lower than 1 because they turned me away when after waiting in line. They said their kitchen was overwhelmed. So disappointing after waiting for them to open back up. I wish them success but after being treated like that on my first visit there won't be a second. Good luck! read more

I was excited to try big a's again after they reopened. I used to eat here all of the time years ago. They always had the best milkshakes and burgers. This was a terrible dining experience. The milkshake was thin and not very flavorful and the burger bun was stale and not enjoyable at all. The staff seemed inexperienced. This is the reason they closed before and I dont see any positive changes that would make it any better. Im excited to not come back again. Worst lunch ever read more

Fun little old school Drive in, where you can dine indoors (cold ac) or dine in your car... My brother loves coming here so he brought us to grab a burger and some fried goodness. Looking at the menu, lots of options to pick from and decently priced. I had the Mushroom Cheeseburger and while it was cooked just the way I like it, the burger wasn't seasoned at all so it was bland. I did try my wife's Bacon Deluxe Cheeseburger and hers was much better than mine. We also shared a basket of tots and curly fries and those were solid! I also had to try their draft root beer served in a chilled mug. I was told there was free refills but I didn't need it. Great root beer flavor and not as carbonated as other fountain/canned soft drinks. Staff was great at the register and bringing us our food, but we did encounter one of the workers getting scolded/talked to by another employee and walking out. Not sure what happened, but hopefully they figured it out. We were also dealing with a lot of flies buzzing around food and constantly had to shoot them away. read more

Had what they called the "Philly cheesesteak" WOW! Where to start? It had a tiny amount of meat in this sandwich. A Philly cheesesteak SANDWICH! I am not joking. Look at the photos attached. Yikes! For $16 this is what I got. If I had to guess I would say it had less then 1/6th of the meat it should have had for the price or to even be called a cheese"STEAK". the peppers tasted good but again it was a terrible attempt at an actual cheesesteak. Ambiance? This place had so much potential but this place has really gone downhill. They STILL don't take debit or credit. That's nuts. It's been months or more. I watched them turn away so many customers while I was there that didn't have cash. I would say at least $400+ worth of sales walked out the door the 30minutes I was there eating, seeing as the 2 of us spent $50 for lunch. The seats need to be reupholstered. Felt like I was sitting on the edge of a few 2x4s with a shirt draped over them. They get 1 star for the kind workers. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. I guess I will no longer be taking family/friends from out of town here anymore either. Very disappointing. read more

We came here after visiting empire mine, it's only a 6 minute drive away. We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 3-4. The indoor dining is pretty small, maybe 8-10 tables/booths, but this place is a drive in so, if you really want to eat indoors you can eat in your car! We opted to sit and eat outside at the picnic tables. Staff is very nice and quick. They bring out orders to you instead of just calling orders out, which is a nice touch. They accidentally made a second order of fries for us, they called it out and we replied saying we had already got our fries, instead of taking the fries back, the waitress just gave us a second order of fries for free. That was super kind of them! I got a San Francisco burger, which had caramelized onions and mushroom with Swiss cheese. It was SUPER good. Their fries were also really good! They come seasoned, not just the standard salt. We also got their mocha rocket shake and root beer float. They make their root beer in house and you can tell. Their root beer is much more smooth and not overwhelmingly sweet. I'm not much of a root beer float person, but I'll happily get their root beer float every time we come here! Will definitely be coming back next time we're in the grass valley area! read more

Hi folks I got a cheesesteak sandwich the other day as I was urging for a cheesesteak sandwich. I mean it was OK it was small not enough cheese not enough meat but it was acceptable to eat although I will never go back and order another one . We were treated to lunch for work from this restaurant. Everyone was raving about how good it was. I was tempted to get a root beer float but, it was an order being picked up and I wasn't sure when I'd be able to start my lunch to eat it. I'm not a fan of root beer but good root beer made by the restaurant and ice cream? I'll make an exception for. I had the BBQ bacon burger and it was so good. The bacon was huge and cooked perfectly not too crispy or too soft. The onion strings on it were yummy and didn't have an overpowering flavor. Now the garlic pesto fries...they were awesome. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and they were thicker fries, which hold up better to the flavoring or its oil. The garlic flavor wasn't too much like other garlic fries, it was good and there weren't clumps of garlic with the pesto and the pesto was good too. It's probably best to eat these fries right away because the oil from the pesto or garlic can make them somewhat soggy. But the pesto garlic fries were delicious and so were a coworkers curly fries. read more

Firstly, don't get me wrong. The food here is great. I love the deluxe bacon cheeseburgers and curly fries especially. It's always hot and fresh. The cook's definitely deserve a raise for the amount of crap they probably have to endure with what a raging mean girl the manager Lily is. I actually was so upset I felt myself tearing up during my meal because I couldn't believe how cruel a manager could be towards customers. The staff here seems like they walk on eggshells with their tail between their legs bc of her hostility. I've been here before, I know that this place is capable of making a great shake. So I ask the cashier if it's possible to get an oreo shake thick like old fashioned style. Sure he says. When Lily made and brought the shake out to our table it was literally like you took milk and blended in oreos. Very watery with no thickness whatsoever. It almost felt like a joke. So my mother asked if it's possible to get another shake since this one was pretty bad. We don't usually like to ask but it wasn't great. So she quickly got an attitude, said no and continued to actually argue with my mother. She refused to make another one and just said she'll give us a refund. We asked if we could please just have another shake to enjoy with the burger and she just got short with us saying she already made it and we didn't like it. Meanwhile we're watching another staff member make a good looking shake for someone else perfectly fine. She had so much attitude towards us for no reason. We told her we did not want the refund, just a shake. She made it clear that she would not remake it & started refunding us even though that's not what we wanted. Looking back, at this point we should've just asked to refund the entire order and took our business elsewhere but we didn't because we were craving this place specifically. So we sat back down and when the food was ready, Lily just throws our order onto the counter and shouts my husbands name but with everyone else she was bringing their order out to their table. We notice this so we ask to speak to a manager or the owner and she continues to tell us she was the manager which is so unbelievable they would place her in this position being responsible for customer service with the level of disrespect she has towards us. After speaking to her that second time (& her probably realizing that she could get in trouble over her behavior) mid-meal she then goes on to make a shake and say it's on the house. I'm sorry but it's a little too late for that now. She gave us such a hard time and we were treated horribly, the damage was done. All I could think about while I was eating was how I couldn't wait to get out of there. I loved this place dearly but this mistreatment has caused me to NEVER return to this establishment again no matter how much I like the food. The food can be 10/10 but customer service is everything and can make or break a place & that is the ONLY reason I won't be coming back. read more

Dry burger and cold fries. Would not recommend, and prices are not value at all. Just OK

Hate to have to say this. But this place has gone downhill big time in the past few years. Used to be packed constantly. Just went in on a Saturday at noon and it was a ghost town. Why? Maybe it's the ten dollar basic burger that I ordered that tasted and looked like something I could get from Carl's Jr? I dunno, maybe I just expect a little more than a frozen patty on a squashed sesame seed bun, the spine of a head of iceberg lettuce, and an unripe tomato for ten bucks. This place used to be solid for how pricey they were, mainly because they'd actually FEED you. Just walked away hungry and disappointed after nearly ten years of patronage. Won't be back. read more

Ordered via phone. Told x amount of time. I arrived 5 mins after the estimated time completion which was average of 20 mins. Typical waiting period. Arrived to pay and tipped. Food wasn't ready. No biggy. Stood aside for 10-15 mins as I'm watching them do their thing. All chatting and laughing - awesome cause I've worked the food industry for years. Notice them tagging orders. Something tells me my meal is ready but I'm giving the benefit of the doubt cause I'm thinking they're prepping the other meal. Now these are both salads. See them laughing and joking look at the tickets even looking, tying and tagging my meal. All these time has gone. I go up and ask if the food is ready. To my surprise the boxes they were bagging and kept picking up setting down was mine. Tell them I've been waiting for long. Not even an apology. I'm irritated so I walk out. Get home. Unbox and my Chinese salad has no dressing. Already frustrated, have to drive back. The guy tells me the salad doesn't have and the chicken most likely has the dressing. I've ordered this meal more times I can count on my hands. Goes back and yep...it comes with it. Again no apology or anything. They're giggling, not focusing on the business - I'm all for a good time in a business but pay close attention to your guest. The ones too who are tipping too. Honestly I'm done with the place. The meal wasn't great tasting cause my lettuce was warm from sitting under the chicken. Seems like some employees do the bare minimum yet ask for these higher wages and tips (speaking too from what is noticed all through out). Don't recommend this joint any longer. Use to be a favorite. Don't get me wrong. The food is amazing and I know the cooks bust hard to bring out quality food...it's the ones taking order and serving/bagging food that makes it mediocre. So my negative review is to those running the food to the guest, not the cooks read more
