Horrible service today while waiting to pay for merchandise. Easily 10-12 paying customers waiting in line today (Saturday) at noon. No customer acknowledgment whatsoever from any of the Dick's associate. What was frustrating is while they had two cashiers open (and it was apparent that they should have had another two), they feel the need to have a front entrance greeter. An additional frustrating moment was when three other associates walked in the vicinity of the registers and waiting customers but continued to say nothing nor did they open up a much needed register. Finally, while we were close to finishing our check-out did another clerk open a register. Unfortunately, she failed to be apologetic or pleasant. Way to go Dick's. You've earned your name. The two stars comes from having selection. read more

Stay away if you are expecting to buy something from their ad. Especially ammo. They never stock what they advertise. Today was day 1 of an ad that was supposed to last until Christmas. Went a couple hours after they opened. One item they claimed to be out of and the other they said they never got in. This is deceptive advertising and they do it all the time. Buy online and save yourself the hassle of southhill traffic and crappy customer service. They tell you no rain checks and don't know if they will ever get it in. Horrible customer service. Just spent ten minutes on hold and transferred three time to find out if an item was in stock. One time on hold after being told that one size of cleat wasn't available, the lady set the phone down after I asked if another size was available and I over heard her say she didn't know what model when I told them three times. I don't understand all the negative reviews, this place is great! I have shopped at Dick's several times for a number of things and every time I have had a positive experience. One of those times I was searching for basketball shoes in the middle of July (not even CLOSE to basketball season but I had a desire for a new pair of Nikes...lol) and they didn't have the kind I saw on their website in store. A nice woman employee, I forgot her name, helped me thoroughly for 45 minutes while I flip-flopped my decision and deciding which ones looked coolest and fit well, but she ended up calling a store on the EAST COAST and had them send them all the way to Washington for me in less than two weeks. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is customer service! I have also searched there for shorts and T shirts and the selection is always ginormous and the staff has always been helpful. The location is perfect and the store is hecka big! I recommend Dick's Sporting Goods and will definitely be back soon! read more

Customer service was horrible. Bathrooms are disgusting, took my 2 year old in to use the bathroom and an employee came out of the stall after a number 2 and didn't flush and didn't bother to wash his hands before proceeding to the check out counter to handle customers items and punch keys on the computer. So gross! The employees just seem to wander around the store doing as little as possible. Hire a real manager! I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Went there to purchase a pair of shoes. The selection was very minimum in sizing, however the issue was the customer service. I grabbed the shoes I wanted sizes in and looked around the shoe section multiple times looking for someone. I heard around the corner where the employees go, the workers in the back laughing and had been waiting so long I almost went back there myself to ask for their help. Instead I just kept saying, "hello?" Until a guy came out. I asked for the sizes and he came back with them and double checked with me the sizes and unfortunately he had forgotten one and gotten one wrong. I opened the other shoe box to find it wasn't the shoe I showed him I wanted to try on. I waited quite awhile for the other shoe, and then told them it was the wrong shoe he brought me. He came back with the right one, just in the wrong size. And after realizing that I had to find him again. Except this time there were about 5 people outside as well needing help. He yelled in the back for his co-worker to come help. After awhile he brought me another pair of shoes because after checking twice they actually did have my size, after telling me they didn't and I could try a size bigger or smaller. They were in the wrong size again. At this point I was very irritated and didn't feel like myself or anyone else was really being taken care of. My dad who was with me was upset, because he experienced the similar issue with the shoes he was looking to try on. I don't know if the employee was new or just didn't care, but he brought my dad the wrong color twice and forgot one pair of shoes. When he asked the other employee about it, they were extremely defensive and said it's their job to bring the size closest to the one asked. However, that was never communicated to me and after every interaction, the size he was telling me he was bringing me, wasn't what was given. There seemed to be a very strong lack of concern or respect, and they didn't seem to care that they had to make 4 trips for me to try on 3 shoes I asked for in the beginning. Huge store, large selection with suggested retail pricing. Staff needs training. All staff were friendly. However, five sales clerks did not know how to cash a check. Each one asked me different question, gave different answers and bottom line could not cash a check. This had nothing to do with account, they did not have training on how to run one through their register. To top it off after purchase was finally made realized they had charged me twice for one of the four items I was purchasing. I questioned this prior to the purchase, but clerk ignored me and kept trying to figure out how to ring check up. When crediting me back my $65.00 she took off $2.00 of my $10 coupon and only credited $63.00. The coupon was $10 off $25 purchase. I spent $150.00. My advise to you is great selection but keep a close eye at the checkout. read more

Better than big 5, not as good as Cabelas, with prices and service somewhere in between. They have just about everything, mostly name brand, so while some people call it pricey, guess what, you're not at Walmart. Pretty decent selection, I find their hunting fishing and camping to be fair priced to about 5 percent above median competition prices. Their bicycle, wieght lifting fitness and shoe departments seem to be closer to 20 to 25 percent higher than competitive stores. It does have a little of everything sportswise, but they don't corner the market on any individual sport. If you want camping stuff go to REI, if you want gun stuff, go to a gun store, shoes, hit a shoe store. But if its a fairly common item to a given sport, there's a good chance they have it at an ok-ish price. Service seems to be either available or not. But if you're sitting at the gun counter and no one is there,..don't expect to be helped anytime soon. In summary if you need to get a few items accross a few different sports and don't want to support walmart in the process, go here before you hit big 5. But may not have specific items more rare or eclectic to a specific sport. And for the love of God, you better be able to help yourself because we all know customer service isn't going to do it. Overall I can't complain because I love wandering through sports stores, but nothing special to note otherwise. read more

Customer service at the gun counter is almost non-existent. Twice I have tried to buy a firearm here and twice I have ended up going to other stores to buy the same gun after Dick's refuses to sell it to me because the DOL doesn't issue new drivers licenses just for changing your address. The part that irks is that the reps at the counter will swear to you that this asinine store policy (along with - for some reason - a 3 hour wait for a NICS check) is The Law. Judging from the number of people turned away on Black Friday (when they only had two people on the counter to begin with, causing LONG indoor waits), Dick's can offer super low prices because they don't actually sell things at those prices. read more

I used to shop at this store, I am very knowledgeable in most sports. I tried to apply for a job in the Bike section. I am a current BMX racer and played many other sports, but they told me the best position suited for me is janitorial work. To me this is insulting, I also have 2 college degree's and a Honorable Discharge from the Army. I am guessing he doesn't like Military people from the information I have given them. I will now take my business to Big 5 Sporting store, might be a longer drive, and out of the way, but will be worth it. read more

the golf department is excellent! I got fitted for the clubs that work for me. thank you KC and Kai. These guys are PGA certified professionals and a pleasure to chat with while your waiting for your clubs to be fitted. Plus the virtual range helps with the fitting process and lets YOU see the results of reach club. They don't work on commission so they will not sell you high prices clubs. They sell you the clubs YOU need. the service was excellent after getting fitted I called to tell them I wanted this clubs and they had them also ready to go when i got to the store. Awesome work. but the employee at the register didn't know how to ring up and comp the fitting fee. I recommend going to these guys if your looking for clubs before hitt the Golf only retail stores. read more

So I am a Racquetball Player and my experience wasn't good. I will say that as far as layout of store and offering they are 5 stars. However that's where it stops. Once I found the "Pro" to restring my Racquet he said they were training someone so It would probably get done by tomorrow. Cool w/E didn't need it till 3 days later anyway. After selecting my options I left. Didn't get a call the next day so I swung by and saw my racquet string free in the back bait no one was there. Left and called the next day. They said that heir restringer was sick so he couldn't come in. Ok no one gets sick on purpose but maybe call your customers and let them know it is going to take longer. They got it done eventually but it was a hassle. I don't know of anywhere else to get my racquet restrung in the Tacoma/Fife area so I will probably go back but come on guys get some customer service for real. read more

Went in over the weekend to buy a pair of glasses, asked how much a specific pair cost was told it was a price range between $180 to $250 ? Guess she thought I couldn't afford the glasses. So i walked out to Sunglass Hut on a pair of Ray-Bans . The same pair I asked about . So it's nice and clean inside, and huge. We came to look at hiking boots (which they have a lot of), and the only problem is that they've got like 2 employees working in a warehouse of a store. It's a "self-serving" type of footwear section, but they were out of a size and walking to the far end of the store to find someone to ask a question was annoying, and disappointing. For other needs I'm sure it's fine, as long as you don't need assistance! Nothing about the experience made us want to come back. And from walking by, everything seemed way overpriced. read more

I went in there today. First I called to see if they had the product and size I needed. They said yes. I went in. Mind you it was an hour drive. They didn't have the item. They said they would order it online for me. Thought great it would go smooth. First the person entered my information in wrong. Thought ok we will just fix it. We did it again no problem. Thought everything was ok. Well come to find out they double charged me. I called to talk to the manager. They refused to let me talk to them. Refurred me to their online section. So I did. The first person said they took care of it. No refund. So I called again. They told me that they would try and get it to me but it normally takes 3 to 5 days. They said they would send it to another section of to try and get me the money sooner. But I would have to call tomorrow to try and reach them. To try and get my money back. I would give negative stars if it were possible. I went there to buy a pair of black Nike Air max. Simple, right? Not so much. They didn't even have a style there to try on for fitting. Then they tried to offer me the 2016 for the same ($189.99) cost as the 2017. However they didn't have my size in that either. At this point, the young man working in the shoe section told me that "If it were him, he would just go to Foot Locker"...says a lot about Dick's. So he tells me he can order them online for me. I wait while he attempts over and over again only to ultimately fail and tell me that I should jut order them myself online. I place the order on a Monday. It says it may take UP TO 48 hours to process and ship. So I check my order status on Thursday only to find out that they are still "processing" the order. I contact online chat, they are rude and have no information for me. I spoke with "Chassity" online and she simply replied "you will get your order as promised" and then disconnected! I am typing this review while on hold to speak with a customer service rep, and have been on the phone for over 25 minutes and still have zero help. This company is has piss poor customer service throughout! From the in store help, to online help, to over the phone help. I will NEVER buy here again and strongly advise that anyone else do the same. It's no wonder why AMAZON is stomping these box stores in sales. read more

I stood in line on Black Friday for a couple hours to get one of the doorbusters. They offered special order rainchecks on the 1 item I was there for because they had NONE in stock, but only if I paid in full. I signed up for the Dicks credit card to get 10% off and when I called to get the current pay off amount on my credit card yesterday, my card had a $0 balance with a credit. I went down to the Dicks store and asked why my special order was cancelled and was only told to call their customer service number, which was closed at that time. The manager refused to answer any of my questions and just kept telling me to call the number. They've held my $1600 for over a month, waited til I was nearly paid off and then refunded my money with no notification and refused to say why. I won't EVER being doing business with Dick's again for any reason. I could have bought a lot of other stuff with the money I loaned Dicks interest free for 30 days. read more
