Little did we know that this would leave a film in the disc that would make the problem worse. I was unable to get my bike in to my local bike shop, as it was mid summer. They had about a month wait time. I called Brett and he was able to look at my bike the very next day. I dropped it off on a Friday and he had it ready on Monday. He gave me a range of options for repair, starting with replacing the brake pads and but giving the option of replacing the brake pads. We went with that. He explained the importance of using just alcohol to clean the disc and doing it often. Since I have only ever had caliper brakes, I didn't realize the need to clean a disc brake system. He had the job done by Monday and I was back on the trail for my summer commute. I really appreciate his competence, kindness, and quick response. I will very likely use this repair shop rather than my local one. Even though I have to load my bike up and drive it to south hill, it's great to have confidence in the person making your repair and get a comprehensive explanation about the process.
