The first clerk I asked to sell me a pass fumbled around and could not log into a computer. He made an odd, childish sounding call to another clerk. That person came and the two of them would have been comical to watch, if not so sad. After about 5 minutes, clerk 2 called his manager. I had the dubious please of listening to first questions about the computer ( I could tell it was not good news of some type), then a long conversation about sales, socks and things the clerk was to do. It was very clear the customer standing awkwardly in their store was not important. So, after the call, I'd been in the store 10-15 minutes. The clerk addresses me, while looking down and to his left, like he was afraid of me. I had NOT said a single word at this point. He gave a long-winded excuse, this was a known issue, they had submitted tickets, they simply had to call the state and get it fixed. I simply said OK and left to find another store and by my pass. This store needs training and a manager shake up. To not post the computer was broke (so I would not drive there in the first place), to not notify staff, to not care about the customer standing there while they were talking socks and sales.... Everything that is wrong about retail training and service is endemic to this store.

I waited for over a half hour to have someone bring them out and nothing. I stopped a service person and asked if I was still on the list for the shoes I wanted - then was told that they couldn't find the other one....and he also said " I'm surprised nobody told you" . so I waisted over an hour just trying to buy a pair of shoes. I then went into the mall a few doors down and bought a pair. The service is awful.... I tried 2 times and both times I received no service; I won't be going back. That system does not work!

Yoshi not only helped me find the right shoe with support and comfort, they went out of their way to find an insole that was going to help correct a fallen arch that I had not discovered I had... I always thought you either have an arch or you don't--unbeknownst to me you can correct it. So now, I'm leaving feeling taken care of even more than some of my doctors. Well, the director of player development was busy with camps and tournaments at the time, so he referred me to the next 2 coaches in line. I contacted the second coach and was also advised he was busy with camps and games. When I contacted the third coach, he took a bit long to answer emails, but it was also because he was busy with tournaments during that time. The coach Jake did respond back about his availability and session rate. It was easy to navigate through the payment website. My stepson so far has had 2 private sessions with coach Jake, and we are happy with the guidance that he's been getting. The feedback from coach Jake is helpful and will definitely benefit my stepson with his skill development. My husband and I also got a chance to look at the try-out for all the clubs in the facility, and we know this is a good club to join.

The non-fishing apparel - caps, clothes, gloves are usually never on sale even though you can get a little of a discount for being a member. But that's about it, really. You hardly see brands like Columbia, Under Armour or others go on sale. Even when they have the annual tent sales during the Summer in August, hardly see things on sale that much. As for customer service, guess it depends on the days, because we have received mostly great to pretty bad and slow services on different days we have visited this store location in Fife, on occasion. We still shop for our fishing gear here as we like the selection and variety of items for different fishing seasons - Salmon, Steelhead and Trout.

Although several items are pricey, they do offer memberships and various discounts to reduce the damage to your pockets. I usually frequent this place twice a month, sometimes just for a browse for sales or to find items that I do not currently have on hand that will be very useful in the future. After repeated poor customer service experiences, I've decided to stop shopping at the Tacoma Bass Pro Shops and will likely take my business elsewhere altogether. At the Tacoma store, asking for help consistently feels like an inconvenience to employees. Checkout interactions have also been cold and dismissive, both in tone and body language. Recently, my wife asked whether she qualified for a military discount. Instead of explaining the requirements, the cashier abruptly asked, "Where's your military ID?" That exchange reflects the way we've been treated there on multiple visits. The one exception to the lack of attention is the credit card pitch. Employees are quick to approach you about signing up as soon as you walk through the door, sometimes so persistently that it feels awkward and intrusive. I wish that same attention went toward helping customers once they're shopping. I had a similar experience at the Cabela's in Lacey while purchasing a firearm. I didn't know I needed to sign in on a touchscreen before approaching the firearms counter. When I went to ask for help, the employee made me feel foolish for not knowing the process. Customers should be treated with basic courtesy whether they're spending $10 or thousands. These repeated interactions have cost Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's my business. I'll be shopping with a competitor.
