Today I visited Dick's Sporting Goods at the Los Cerritos Center, and I had the privilege of meeting an exceptional young employee named Damien, who is only 17 years old. I have been in business for many years and have met thousands of people throughout my life, but every once in a while, you come across someone who leaves a lasting impression on your heart. Damien was one of those people. From the moment he greeted me, he treated me with kindness, respect, and genuine professionalism. Every word was spoken with courtesy: "Yes, sir," "Thank you, sir," and "It's a pleasure to help you, sir." His manners, patience, and willingness to assist were truly remarkable. As I spoke with him, I couldn't help but think back to my own teenage years. Damien reminded me of a time when respect, humility, and strong values were the foundation of a young person's character. Seeing such a respectful and hardworking young man today touched me deeply. In fact, I had tears in my eyes because it gave me hope and reassurance that there are still wonderful young people in this world. His parents deserve tremendous credit for raising such an outstanding young man, and Dick's Sporting Goods should be extremely proud to have Damien representing their company. I wouldn't say the staff is very knowledgeable about what they sell. I've been here a few times with my sibling to shop for hiking, snowboarding, and rock wall climbing gear/items, and during each visit, the staff wasn't sure whether they carried the items we were asking about. They usually direct us to a general area where the item might be located, but don't offer much more guidance than that. More often than not, we end up leaving empty-handed and ordering the items online, which we probably should have done in the first place...but we wanted to check them out in-store before buying. Strangely enough, it's also always extremely busy whenever I visit. That means long lines and chaotic parking situations... I've even seen a few near-accidents in the lot. I had a recent fall on my ebike, and besides banging/scraping up my knee & having the nailbed of my big toe darken with blood, I also damaged my Shimano 7 Speed gear shifter. I recalled seeing a price list for bike repairs & maintenance, the last time I was browsing around at Dick's Sporting Goods. So, after receiving an estimate at a local bike shop I frequent, I went back to Dick's to compare prices. As luck would have it, Dick's had a cheaper price for installation, so I chose them. Ordering a replacement of the exact same model of the Shimano 7 Speed gear shifter from AliExpress, in about a week, I brought my ebike in to have the installation done. The bike technician was friendly, and said it would take a few hours. I left my number, and in around 4-5 hours, I received a return call, stating my bike was ready. Arriving at the store, my ebike was back to it's original glory, and the bike technician even tightened up some areas, which was cool on his part. Quite happy with the work done, I believe Dick's Sporting Goods will be my preferred option for future ebike maintenance & repairs. read more

What a disappointing experience I had at this store yesterday. Extremely limited selection on Dodger caps. Zero customer service. I only came here to spend a gift card. I will never return! Actually everything in the store looked like something you'd find at a garage sale. I miss the days of Sports Chalet. The workers there were engaged in sports. Did a pick up and wanted to add to the order... said 9 in stock so I asked someone because I couldn't find it, redirected to another person, who then proceeded to make me wait, led to go downstairs... said that through the app all I had to do was check in... but the app said go to pick up area (also no labeled anywhere in the store) everyone said go to the email... which was never sent... I proceed to wait in the "pick up area" and then told to go BACK IN LINE... WTF.. The only reason this even has a star is because the person who helped me was super fast and efficient , Fatalia! Went to Dick's Sporting Goods and had a terrible experience. I paid with $200 bills and was given $80 back in fake $20 bills as my change. As soon as I realized it, I called the store hoping they would help fix the situation, but they didn't do anything about it or take responsibility. Super disappointing, especially from a big company that should be checking money before handing it out to customers. Makes since their logo is green like the #grinch in the form of a store manager named Peter. Had my order cancelled 3x without my knowledge. They confirmed the order when you order things, place it on your credit card, but then they can cancel it anytime when they finally realize they don't have it in stock! I waited a week for the item, cancelled. I went to the store after they confirmed on the phone for store pick up, cancelled. And the bonus is if you go to the store you get a pompous and sarcastic manager who just is sarcastic and unempathetic to the entire situation. Either your tech is broken, or your process is...but never did I image your people and leadership being innately incompetent too. Dick's has got to be less of their namesake. I called customer service and was told to go ahead and come to this location because they were not able to help me on line. The size I was looking for they were currently out. If I could give a 5-star review to one single employee, I would. But the customer service experience here with some other employees here is why I have to give it a 2-star. We arrived at the shoe department on a Saturday at around 3:00pm. They were extremely busy. The kiosk doesn't seem to matter as the machine indicated that an associate would bring the shoes we picked out in 2mins; however, I stood around the kiosk for much longer with no sign of our shoes. The ladies were nice. They actually smiled in this somewhat of a hectic environment. The men at that department weren't so nice. I approached one man and he told me to "wait, I'll get back to you"... he never got back to us. There isn't even a smile on his face. The exception would be JP. He was very attentive and actually made an effort to help us. He was informative and patient. I would only go back for him. read more

Store is BIG like way big. It's big enough though to find basically everything you could want or need in sporting goods. Came one day, with the fam, basically went till close. We loaded up on baseball gear and were pleasantly surprised by selection and how informative and helpful the guy helping us was. Shoutout to Kaleb helped my husband was super informative and really kind. Helped him try to problem solve a new Dicks card issue and wasn't annoyed we were there till close doing it. Good value in gear for the money, had some good sale stuff too. As for employees, at least with the guy who helped us great employee help and info, and overall problem solving.. Ahhh, DICK'S. Not that this review matters, especially for nationwide behemoth chains, but damn I love and hate you. Worst customer service on the sales floor, yet kind and helpful folks at the checkout. Is there a different hiring process for these two areas? Waited for 15 minutes for anyone to come by and unlock a bat rack - it seriously looked like I was being avoided like I had the plague. When a guy did come by I asked to see a specific bat and he just mindlessly grabbed and handed me a completely different bat before I could notice, because I was distracted by all the stuff. That's on me. Kind of. I literally looked at the bat, realized it was the wrong one and the employee literally vanished into thin air. Swayze. I tried to find someone else to get the right bat but gave up. Jokes on me though because I still walked to the register with a handful of stuff. Again - won't make a difference. Three guys stands around and I walked up to ask about a pair of shoes because I was walking around in the area for 5 minutes and I like to try some shoes. The I got yelled at if I wanted "white". I was confused and another guy still laughing at me that he said "wide". The shoe department at this sporting goods store comes straight from hell. My mother loves Hoka shoes and this store usually supplies them, anytime you want a shoe it's like an employee disappears you're practically chasing them trying to ask for a shoe. I went this morning to buy a tennis racket. An intermediate player, I was hoping for some advice on type of racket, along with proper grip sizing, stringing, etc. These are things a sporting good store should be able to help with, in my opinion. Sadly, Dick's seems to be like most sporting good places today, heavy on product, and zero-to-little knowledge of those products. Even though I came during a busy time of the day, Saturday at 11:30am, the sales rep told me to come back Tuesday morning to speak with the guy who strings the rackets. No one there could help me. What an amazing first time experience at dicks. Stopped by today to purchase my first driver. Cash was such a great help. I purchased a bike helmet for my daughter last week for $40. She misplaced the receipt, but I still had the tag, attach to the helmet. Because I purchased the item with cash. They said that they had no way to verify how much I paid for it. But they can see in the system that the item cost forty dollars. So to deter me from returning the item they were trying to only give me $15 back. The helmet was in good condition. It had been in the car the whole time.It was never worn, didn't have any wear. Most places would just pull an item off of the floor and scan to compare if they didn't have the price or at least give store credit for the forty dollars, but no, not Dick's. I even asked to speak to a supervisor he wasn't willing or able to override. Now i'm stuck with the helmet that doesn't fit my kid's head and i'm out of $40.
