Nothing but problems with their install. Less then 2 years old. Have had them out several times. Now they won't even return my calls. They are suppose to be the experts? Incompetent is more like it. We got our AC/heat pump through Dicks. The first 2 years were good then after that we started having problems with heat and cool air. We had them come out 3 different times and they made an expensive fix each time but it never got better. The 4th time they were supposed to come out my husband took a half day to be at home from 3-6pm and we got a call at 6:15 saying the tech wasn't going to make it tonight. Really bad customer service and even though they owe us free work, we are going to call someone else to come fix it right. read more

If there were a "0 Stars", they would have earned it! I called on a Sunday because my furnace went out on Saturday evening. I had a sticker on my furnace referring them, as they had been out about a year ago for a check-up. The sticker that they had a service that would send somebody in 60 minutes. On Sunday I was told that the soonest I could get an appointment was Tuesday. I questioned this and was told to call Monday and they may be able to squeeze me in. I did just that. I was questioned about why I was calling when I already had an appointment. I explained. The lady was rude and clearly understood supply and demand. She knew that she had the technicians and I needed them! I again questioned the 60 minute appointment on their advertisement. eventually she got frustrated with me and got Loretta on the phone. She asked what she could do for me. I told her I would like an appointment. she again advised that I already had one for Tuesday. I pointed out that she was being very rude, as my family and I were simply cold and were hoping for more expeditious service. As a business owner myself (with 23 service centers) I asked to speak to the owner, as I appreciate my customers sharing these types of experiences with me. She quickly barked that he is not available, do did not have a phone contact, and in fact that is why she was there, to take his calls. with Loretta on board, the owner will not need to worry about getting too many calls, as they will slowly diminish and he will be left wondering why. I'm here to tell you that when consumers need you, you need to put your best foot forward. That is not the time to show them how much they need you. Have you even google'd heating and air conditioning. Guess what...you are one of many providers. By the end of the conversation (which is recorded), she asked if I wanted to cancel the appointment. I said that while I was not impressed with the service so far, I needed the appointment. She said "weeelllllll, I think I'll just cancel that for you. Now, you have a Merry Christmas". Yes, it sounds like something a 6th grader would do. Now I have no heat and no appointment! Don't waste your time on them!! Today Dick's heating and air-conditioning came out to fix my a/c heat pump. First of all, they were right on time. They were to service a a/c heat pump that i bought from Bel Red energy solutions. Bel Red REFUSED to come out since i complained about multiple problems they refused to resolve. when the tech from Dick's took the face off the condenser coil(on top of the furnace) He asked me to come look at the problem.Turns out there was hair and dirt plugging things up. The interesting thing was finding the plastic plugs from the coil unit laying in the area that should not have been there. Behind the coil unit was a red handled tool that was also left by the original installer. Bel Red was out last August to do service. They obviously did not remove the front to clean or they would have removed the plastic pieces and the tool. Had they taken off the front and done what they were paid to do i would never have meet a really professional company like Dick's...Thank you to Dick's for doing a great job. You have a very happy customer for life. I will tell everybody what a great job you did. As far as Bel Red we'll see you in court. read more

We had a 5-year planned service agreement that we signed when we had Dicks put in our furnace and heat pump. On it, it specified the prices for an annual checkup and cleaning for the next 5 years. Well, we are 4 years in to this agreement and all of a sudden, they are not honoring those prices. The agreement was that we would get the items serviced for 5 years after installation at those prices then the annual would be free for the life of the furnace and heat pump. Now that they won't honor the original prices, who's to say whether they will honor the free part of the agreement? I thought this protected us, but apparently not. What's the point of having a service agreement if you won't honor it? I might as well have a different company of my own choosing do the servicing - probably at better prices, too. Having a planned service agreement was also part of the reason we chose Dicks to do the installation. When we spoke to the manager about this we were also told that the only person who could authorize them to honor the quoted prices was the owner, but "He doesn't speak with customers". Dick's was referred to us with glowing recommendation. No one showed up during the time slot we were asked to set open for their arrival. After a phone call from us, someone did show an hour later. We were charged the diagnostic fee, but the technician didn't even look into discovering the solution to our problem. He did recommend we get an entire new unit for over 9K, because he said our heating system was going out, too. The next day, after more exploring on our own, WE discovered a crack in one of the pipes. WE purchased supplies and WE solved the problem. Air has been working fine ever since, with no more leaks (the original problem), and we have NEVER had a problem with the heating system. Hope they don't continue make these expensive, crummy recommendations, without actually doing their job, to more vulnerable clients!! Disappointed!! Even called to share what had happened, or lack of what should have happened, and were promised they wanted to make things right. Our company owns and operates mobile home parks. The purchase, fix-up and sale of homes is common for our company. Dick's was called to hook up a heat pump in a home we purchased and moved to a new location for sale. The existing Heat Pump/ Furnace was newly installed in 2010 and had been serviced on an annual basis. The service record was on the front of the furnace. The entire unit was very clean and in good condition. It should have been a few hundred dollars to hook up the outside heat pump unit. The Dick's Technician found $2,700 of problems to fix. I was out of town when the work was contracted but returned in time to get to the job site while the work was being done. One of the components they replaced was a furnace motor for $700.00. I took the old motor which had been replaced in 2011 to a machine shop for testing. The motor was in fine condition and had no reason to be replaced The workmanship of the crew was very poor. The motor was incorrectly installed. It was not aligned or secured properly. It would have failed in a short amount of time, most likely requiring another motor and fan assembly replacement. I emailed a specific list of the workmanship problems to their office within 2 days. Dick's would not address the items in the email, would not let me contact the owner(s) or a supervisor, and would not send a list of materials used on the job. The contract specifically stated Dick's would provide a list of materials if requested by the customer. My opinion is; this is a company which over-sells, overcharges, and lacks skilled tradesman. Then uses high pressure collection people to bully folks into paying. After supplying them with evidence of the issues and the application of significant pressure, Dick's agreed to to drop some of the charges and not return to our property. Our mistake was not getting multiple estimates. There are many good, fair, ethical contractors, take the time to find a good one. read more

I called Dicks to trouble shoot a heating problem with a furnace I have. Superior Heating installed the system but they are a one man show and could not come out quickly as they had another job going. Glen came out and showed up on time. Seemed like he knew what he was doing initially. Red flags started to come up when he said it would take 2 days with 2 guys to trace down the wires to 3 zone dampers all within 3 feet of each other. oh yah and $1000 at least. He bypassed the controller and told me furnace was working. The problem was in the controls/controller but then proceeded to drill a hole in the exhaust duct(and did) to check exhaust gases unrelated to the controller. When asked why he got very defensive and told me if I knew so much why didn't I fix it myself. among other things Like his 16 years of experience and I was basically a dumbshxxt. I told him if it was a control issue then it seems to me we should be troubleshooting the controls not checking exhaust gases(which talking to other professional ) is a ploy to look for other more expensive issues. I'm told they get paid on commission based on what they sell me. I told him I only wanted him to troubleshoot the system problem first then we can look at other issues. He gave me a very hard time and told me that the Hvac guys are a very small group and he knew all of them and I would not be able to get anybody else to come out so let him proceed. I wasn't going for it. i just knew something was not right so I asked him to leave. I had to ask him to leave at least 3 times. He argued all the way out of my house and took a very long time leaving. I called the office and he had already called them The dispatcher would not let me talk to a manager/owner. She told me she was the customer service supervisor. At first she started to argue with me before I even told her a thing. It was all my fault. After talking with her for a while she calmed down. I asked for the manager/owner to call me when he is available so I could discuss what happened. I suspect I will never here from them, I normally do not pursue or write a review but this was a very bad experience. I own both a multi unit retail center,multi unit apartments and residential rental property. I have used UR, Auburn Mechanical, Emerald Aire and the Blake company on my commercial building and have never been any problems. To have Glenn tell me I will never get anyone to work on my furnace because I am such an XXX YYYY is over the top. Sorry but this one really bothers me. I suspect the other workers are ok. I had another company come out today(one day later) and they found he had shut off something inside the furnace. Turned it back on the furnace fired right up. The technician told me the problem was the system had an extra filter in it that was dirty and causing the system to overheat. Cost me $96 bucks to find it out. read more
