Emerald State did an excellent job with the upgrades to our new home! They Installed a ceiling fan in the loft, replaced original switches with smart dimmers that we can now control on the Home Phone app! Also had an additional outlet added in closet for the cordless vacuum and an additional outlet box on the exterior for the irrigation system. Very professional and did everything up to Code. Added the latter 2 jobs above by accessing thru crawl space using a general circuit instead of a dedicated Kitchen circuit that would have been easier and less work. We also appreciated the care with using "booties" that came on and off every single time they had to step in and out of our home. I would very highly recommend them and will definitely use them for the future!!!! read more

I have nothing but glowing reviews for this company. When I called them for pricing, they didn't beat around the bush or give a huge price range. We needed a new electrical outlet to be installed in our garage and all of my questions were met with very knowledgeable answers. Less than 24 hours after placing the call, we had an electrition out to our house. He was prompt, friendly, and also knowledgeable. The work was done quicker than we expected. 3.5 Stars First off, Dennis is is a great guy and completed the requested job on time, as promised. I was originally quoted up to $500 for this job (Change exterior GFI outlet and 2 exterior wall sconces, $22.50 for GFI part) DEPENDING on the complexity. Usually for a job like this, the bill usually ends up less, as I feel most contractors like to overestimate cost initially. I had the new sconces ready as Dennis requested, and though I didn't keep exact time of the job, it was less than 1 hour, with some, but minimal troubleshooting; (This was not a complex job by any means). Dennis did take a credit card number from me initially, which I thought was a security deposit that would be credited towards the cost of the job. Upon completion, I was billed $299, and I was thinking, alright, that wasn't too bad! However when I checked my statement, there was an additional charge of $274 on my credit card. When I asked Dennis about it, he explained that the $274 was his "Service charge." I'm thinking a service charge of $250 for a scheduled job 2 days in advance 8-9am is a little ridiculous. I could see if this was an emergency (middle of the night on Sunday, sure, but not for a routine scheduled job). Dennis worked with me very well on this and after I requested, he promptly refunded the $274 service charge. Bear in mind, he will bill you that $250 just for showing up, and it is on top the cost of the job. For the sake of your business Dennis, I'd highly suggest a reduction in this charge for routine service calls. I certainly wish I got paid $250 each time I showed up to do my job! If that service charge was say, $50 I wouldn't hesitate to use Emerald State again in the future, because Dennis was communicative, easy to work with and very competent. read more

CHECK AROUND FIRST! This company is VERY expensive: $250 an hour! They also require a $250 deposit at time of booking appointment. I just moved here so I thought maybe that was normal. I checked around and it definitely is not. So I cancelled my appointment. They charged me a $50 cancellation fee!! I called them 24 hours in advance but that didn't matter. They did NOT disclose that they would charge a cancellation fee when I made the appointment either. My only consolation is that I'll save more than the $50 they jacked from me by using a different company. read more

These guys did some good work for us earlier this year. I was going over all my invoices for the year and noticed we were charged for a permit that was never done as well as "administration charges". I emailed them and three weeks later, they still haven't either permitted it or refunded the charge. Very frustrating. I bought a 1926 home with knob and tube wiring. When the house was inspected there was a finding regarding the electrical and the inspector mentioned that I might want to call Emerald. What an incredibly wise choice to do so. Dennis came out and inspected as well as provided an estimate. He was clear about when the project would be started and completed. Brady got started and has been the best example of the tradesman you would want on any job. Always straight, timely and honest regarding communication. Whether news was good or bad he just tells it like it is. Everything I needed plus a little more was done on schedule and was above my expectations. Dennis and his crew are completely professional and reliable. I hired Emerald Electric to completely rewire my 1923 house in July. Dennis is completely knowledgable and informative. He does what he says. He responds to emails and phone calls in a timely fashion. I was already going to give him a good review and then he even way way beyond the call of duty. They were here on time and did exactly what they were contracted to do in a polite and expedient manner. While they were here, I had them replace a ceiling fan left by the prior homeowner. Customer service PLUS! Living with a well can always have challenges, this was an exception. Dennis returned my call within an hour, even after hours. . He did offer to come out, but felt I could make it thru the night without water. First thing, next morning he was here to confirm there was a short in the buried power line. His earliest opening was 5 days later, but he rigged a temporary line to get the power to the well. Brian and Bradley came out on scheduled day and rerouted the power and also tidied up wiring in the well building. Ended up being around 7 hours, but totally satisfied with work performed and the cleanup. Highly recommend this company! ! read more

Called and had an appointment made from 2-4 the same day. The electrician called and said he would be at the house around 2:30. He arrived exactly at 2:30 and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. The electrician and person who took my original call were both courteous and professional. The only downside is that it's pretty spendy. $350 for a service call plus $150 an hour plus parts, and I feel like I could have bought a new outlet for less than $32.50. read more

Dennis is fabulous! We were having issues with our circuit breaker giving off burning smells. I called him in the morning and he came out by the afternoon of the same day. He inspected everything, listened, and was incredibly knowledgable in his craft. His customer service was impeccable. He got us set up with our local power company for inspection when he had concerns on their end. He could have easily started replacing things without double checking an outside issue but didn't. This company is sterling. We hired them for our full kitchen remodel and to replace all our main floor outlets (had also hired them for a few small jobs in the past.) All work was completed to our satisfaction and within a reasonable time, with excellent response times to my questions and concerns as they arose. With respect to the permitting referenced in another review, obtaining a permit is a pain I am more than willing to pay to avoid (hence: administration charges).
