We had work done coordinating with our septic company to replace a septic alarm. We were charged over 2,000 for a 3 hour repair because they added on 2 hours of travel time (Maple Valley to Sammamish) to our charges and billed for 2 electricians because Steve and an assistant was along on the job. Most of the time one was working while the other was chatting with the septic repairman. When I called to inquire about how 3 hours of work at 165/hr became 2,000 he said there were "parts and travel charges" and some kind of 600 "parts package". I have no idea what that was for, since the septic company provided the parts - the invoice is blank except the hourly and the total. I was wrong to allow my septic repair to choose the electrician without finding out about the HUGE travel charges and extra fees. Avoid my mistake and don't get conned. Be sure to get a clear estimate before hand to avoid an extra 1,000 in charges like I had to pay. I gave 2 stars because the work appears to be done well. read more

He not only installed our kitchen hood vent, but also made recommendations as he went for different things that were very helpful as he navigated the attic space. My AC panel was old and needed replacement. The lights in a few rooms stopped working and my garage was without power. Wilderness asked for a photo of the panel, listened to what I needed, then provided a quote the next day. Steve coordinated everything with PSE and the electrical inspector. Total pro. Set up, removal, replacement, inspection, power back on. Steve described how the lights and plugs that were not working was a single circuit, and found that an old GFI outlet had failed. I had a 20A breaker go bad in my electrical panel, and I couldn't change it. So, I called around late in the afternoon to various electricians, and Wilderness Electric was able to come out the next morning! The technician was great and very knowledgeable. He had electricity restored within minutes. There is a flat hourly fee for service, with a minimum of 1 hour charge for the service call and initial hour of work, $105 per hour if I recall. All in, it was about $150 for the part, the 1 hour charge, and tax. I will be happy to use Wilderness Electric again for future electrical needs and recommend them to anyone looking for electrical work! read more

I called them requesting a quote for three small electrical projects at my home...they never returned my phone call.

Had them install boxes for ceiling fans in three bedrooms and an extra light in our master bathroom. Oreo did a great job. Work was performed professionally and quickly. After they were done I went to vacuum and found one of the outlets they had worked near wasn't working. I called and left a message. Oreo returned my call quickly and returned later that afternoon and had it corrected within 10 minutes. Also while he was in our attic he noticed the drain pan under our furnace was almost overflowing. He alerted me right away. I called the company (Evergreen) who installed our heat pump less than a year ago and am dealing with them as we speak to get their work corrected under warranty. Had Oreo not alerted us to their mistake we would have had a major water damage issue on our hands. I've been doing a kitchen remodel and electical work was the one thing I needed to hire someone for. I needed new overhead lighting, some additional outlets, a solution for a dark pantry and wiring for a new vent hood. I called three or four places that resulted in being stood up for appointments or never receiving a bid after the appointment and several calls. Then I talked to Rick at Wilderness Electric. He was on time to the appointment and provided me with a bid the next day. Steve did the work on my house, and he was great. He got the work started and inspected. Do not be fooled by friends of Wilderness Electric posting bogus reviews. I had wilderness come out to give me a quote for a new panel and they charged me almost $200 for a quote. I agreed to pay their trip charge for my estimate but not the work (because I didn't ask for any work) I asked their receptionist why the charge for a quote and she admitted to accidentally sending an electrician and not an estimator. They have not been able to explain what work was done. See email from their "owner" Scott, I have discussed this situation with all involved parties on my team and it is clear to me that this activity was set up as a service call from the beginning.....and re-enforced directly to my electrician, by you, upon his arrival to "restore power ". As a service orientated company we write and complete a substantial number of service calls annually and know the difference between an estimate and a service call. Given the facts, I am at loss to understand your confusion on this job nor the reluctance to pay for services provided. We charge out at $105 +tax including travel time. My electrician was dispatched from our office in Maple Valley at 7:30AM and checked out on your job at 9AM. It is my understanding that he provided a quote to you to upgrade the panel and a tentative schedule date of Fri the 27th subject to you making arrangements directly with our office including payment on our service invoice. It was understood that you would contact our office to pay and finalize schedule details. That did not happen, my electrician left a follw-up voice mail with an additional request for you to contact us, once again, we heard nothing from you, thus the appt was removed from our schedule. I feel that we have provided a service as per your request and are due the payment as reflected on my invoice. At this juncture, I have no interest in doing any additional work for you. Just had Steve from Wilderness Electric here twice today. He was great. I was the first appointment of the day and he was exactly on time. I showed him what I needed done. One, the main chandelier in entryway. He got everything arranged to install and when he removed the chandelier from the box, a necessary piece was missing. He was very accommodating as he got the project as far as he could, went to the next appointment (as he had to meet an inspector) and returned to finish my project as I went to the store to pick up the necessary part. Yes, there were two trip charges, but the company I purchased the fixture from needed to take care of one of the trip charges. He was very courteous and very efficient. Fantastic!! Where to begin? Going through a remodel of our 1986 Lake Wilderness home has proved to be stressful, dealing with contractors, scheduling, and living in the home simultaneously is crazy, but Rick (the owner), came out (on time) for his tour to go over the work we needed (which I'll explain later), gave me a competitive estimate, but more importantly, knew what I needed/wanted before I even did. I didn't have to over explain if that makes sense? Enter Steve and Oreo. These two guys have been working together for awhile, and it shows! Steve walked the house with me a few nights before starting the work, he took good notes, he (like Rick), understood what we were going for and displayed a level of confidence that I just felt like I could trust. I wasn't disappointed. He and Oreo showed up at 8am everyday they worked to get the job done. They communicated well with me while I was at work, they worked well with the other contractors in the house, and more importantly, did AMAZING work! Now, here's a brief description of some of the things they did: We had 17 "can" lights installed throughout the house, all new switches and outlets throughout. A few added switches also. Installed 8 new lighting fixtures, wired our TVs in 3 locations (for hidden wire capability), removed old electrical wall heaters that were suppose to have been disconnected (but weren't all), and inspected them to be sure they weren't active anymore. They were in the attic, in the crawl space, and everywhere in between knocking out their work like they knew what they were doing! Our house is now safer, well lit, updated, and ready to be lived in right! Was it expensive? Yes, relatively, but we wanted to do it right the first time, and not "piece-mail" it over many years, and boy we were not let down! I am definitely having them back for outdoor jobs in the future, or any other electrical needs we may have. Professional, courteous, humorous, knowledgeable, and fast! Great experience!!!! Oreo came out, diagnosed the issue and found the loose wires in the junction box in the wall. I was told by a different local electrician that I would need a re-wire of my kitchen. Oreo took the time to actually figure out what the issue was and corrected it!
