No, no, no... How the hell does this place have a single bad review?! Oh yeah, I almost forgot how so many people feel entitled and special because their Mom told them too many times when they were little. They eventually grow up to be little a$$holes, who leave bad reviews out of anger an in attempt to somehow get their way, for places that simply do not deserve it. I get upset when I see this, because this particular Dickies is flat out, A+ 100% AMAZING. I am not overinflating that either. Its family owned and operated. The place is always clean, smells like food heaven and everyone that works there is just fabulous to talk to. I almost always get a free sample of something while waiting in line. And I 100% always get a smile, and happy face greeting me and thanking me when I leave. My wife and I just love this place.. not Dickey's, ONLY this particular one. I swear that they make all of the non-chain places nearby look paltry and sad. I absolutely love what they do with the brisket and their ribs.. just falls apart in my mouth every time. We catered Dickey's for my wedding, and it was a very stressful and unpleasant experience. We spent over a grand, and we're having them deliver it for us and our guests. They FORGOT half of the food; might I add we got 3 meats and multiple different sides and rolls, they forgot most of the meat and some sides. My mom called them due to me being preoccupied at my wedding, and they were extremely hostile and rude to her. They had a different person from the store come to drop off the other half of the food, in which they tried ignoring my mother and dropped off the rest without an apology for the food or for being incredibly rude to her. The owner was closed off and not the most polite when we ordered, but we really wanted bbq for the wedding... lesson learned! I'd seriously recommend going anywhere else for catering. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, but having them not deliver half on the big day definitely doesn't help! read more

*** I'm still keeping the five stars because I want them to do well, and they're fairly new so they just need to work out their kinks and get used to their lunch crowd that is bound to happen. BD went back to lunch after our first visit. Dickey's has a plate special every day and he wanted to check them out for lunch. The pulled pork was nothing like he had the first visit. It was burnt and dry and a total 180 he said. The beans didn't have the same taste. It wasn't as sweet. Even the sauces were running out (understandable) but because he was getting the bottom part where the liquid had evaporated the sauces came out bitter and also burnt tasting. Lines were long (also understandable). It took him 20 mins just to order food. He saw someone get out of line, order online, and get his food faster. TIP: ORDER ONLINE. He was pretty disappointed and I was disappointed for him because it was literally a 3 or 4 days difference from the first visit. So as far as I could see, Placerville only had one good BBQ joint and that was Hog Wild. However, I was never a fan of their sides and their sauces were meh and occasionally, especially the last few times I've visited, their smokey flavor was extremely overpowering. Still: good food and awesome service always. But I became interested in Dickey's since their media presence blew up on FB. I've never been to a Dickey's and when I looked at their menu, I got hungry! We stopped in and tried a bunch of foods. Their brisket is tender though I wished there was a little more fat to keep it super moist. Their ribs were absolutely tender and tasted great but it needed the BBQ sauce they they keep on the side. BD enjoyed his pulled pork a lot. For the sides, the Mac and cheese was delicious. BD enjoyed his beans immensely and absolutely dug the baked potato side. I also had the coleslaw which was nice but they were a little heavy handed with the black pepper. The yellow cups are nice and I assume reusable because when we came back another day people were bringing it from home. I loved their spicy sauce. Kicky and keeps things moist. Sweet sauce was too sweet but BD enjoyed mixing the original with the spicy. Service was friendly, restaurant looks nice and modern in that chic hipster rustic look. Location is great with a big parking lot. Lines can get long. We came on a Saturday and there was a line to the door. The couple in front of us left. Expect a good 15-20 minute wait. Also, we made the mistake of ordering a pound of ribs which came out to be two racks which was $48 because we're idiots. We ended up paying a total of $80 plus for dinner (because we also ordered sandwich plates). Ribs for daysssss. Yes! read more

I am following Weight Watchers and needed a quick lunch that would also not be too high in my daily points! I checked the menu and decided to try the Classic Chicken Sandwich with BBQ sauce. It is simple - just chicken, sauce and the bun, but it was delicious! The chicken was moist, the bun was soft and warm and the regular BBQ sauce has a little kick to it. I called my order in ahead of time, and it was ready to go when I got there. Everyone was very nice, and I was so happy to patronize a local business, especially during these times when most restaurants are closed. I will definitely be back! read more

On a whim, I visited this new BBQ place to me, for some meat to add to my salad I had picked up. I was greeted immediately upon entering, and was treated wonderfully! I am exceedingly picky and selective about my BBQ coming from a BBQ family my entire life, prefer BBQ dry rubs versus any sugary sauces that seem to disguise and mask flavors to me of really good meats, so chose accordingly on both the turkey and brisket. When I got home and got a really good tasteful of each before adding to my salad, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Both were incredibly juicy (the turkey moreso), fantastically melt in your mouth tender, and the flavor was out of this world, just like I remember from living back at the East Coast and unlike most other disappointing BBQ I've tried in CA over the last 25 years (when I spot BBQ I have to try some). A bit pricey by the pound, but perfection is worth it. The sandwiches and rest of menu look reasonable. I'm a purist, watching my carbs, and the meat I had is just too divine to not be eaten by itself or flavoring a salad for me. BTW? My husband and I have been coming here since they opened in Placerville, but lately we've been very disappointed! Tonight my husband went to Dickey's for dinner, they were not busy (which the last few times we have gone they are not busy at all). He asked for a 2 meat plate They told him that a customer before him had bought all the chicken and other meat which was what we wanted so he asked for turkey and they gave us half of meat than we normally get. I couldn't believe my eyes! We've never had a problem with them serving sizes until now! I understand when things run out, but the plate was small for a 2 meat plate for what we pay! Unfortunately, it may be a long time before we go back if we ever do. read more

This place is Terrible, they didn't have the meat I ordered so instead they refused to cancel the order even though the DD drive hadn't picked it up. They would only substitute it for one of the three meats I had selected. I never elected to order only 1 type of meat so that was extremely rude and their manager wasn't helpful or polite when dealing with me. read more

Placed my order online. Arrived a little early for scheduled pick-up time. Feeling optimistic. The one guy working by himself was super friendly but was slammed with orders & running out of some items. I get it. Things are rough in the middle of this pandemic. I can wait. No problem. Couple employees come back in from a break, I'm thinking things might speed up. I wait a total of 20 minutes past pick-up time before my name is called. Not upset. I walk to the counter to pick up my $70 order and the kid (one of the ones who'd come back from a break) tells me to go stand "over there." I turned around to see a sign that says "Pick Up Orders Here." Ok. So, he has my food but he wants me to walk "over there" by the wall to pick it up. Even though my food is "right here." Whatever. Maybe some safety protocol - they don't want customers near the service area & he's going to bring it to me. Maybe my orders not completely packed up & ready. Ok. I walk over there. Kid calls name again. I said, "that's me." He said my order was was ready. I reminded him 5 seconds ago he told me to walk over here to stand where I'm now standing. He said I could pick up my order. I asked if he was going to bring it to the "Pick Up Order Here" sign and he said no. That I needed to pick it up from him. "So you just told me to come stand here. But now you're telling me I don't have to stand here?" He told me that's where I was supposed to be waiting for my order. So, for the nearly 30 minutes I stood in the store, it was preferable to have me standing (no chairs) in the busiest part of the room instead of leaning on the wall near the door all alone & out of everyone's way (social distancing). He said yes because he couldn't see me to know I was there to get my order. (I guess it wasn't obvious when he called my name & I walked up to him). He told me next time I should be wait "over there." I assured him there would be no next time, as I'm not in the habit of frequenting businesses that chastise me for not standing in the right place - and embarrassing me in front or other patrons to boot. I gathered my bag and headed out the door. Then remembered I'd paid like $8 for a gallon of lemonade, so I had to go back in. They filled up a gallon-size plastic bladder with lemonade FROM THE COKE MACHINE. For $8 I thought I was getting some specialty lemonade - not a the same lemonade I could get next door @ Big Lots for $2. What a joke. By now I'm pretty steamed. Walking to my car, the nice guy who'd been there alone at the beginning & was now on a smoke break, walked up to me (6 feet away) to apologize for the behavior of his co-worker for the second time (he'd done it once already in the store). Mad props to that guy. He was the best thing about the whole experience. Top it off - I get home and half the sides I'd paid for weren't in the bag. Damned if I'm going to call the store to complain. Just took a deep breath, fed my family, and promised not to go back. The bbq was pretty good. Nothing to write home about. Would've loved to try the Mac & cheese, but I didn't get any. read more

This places is GOLDEN! My husband and I went there the other night for some barbecue, my husband is a union mine High School employee, and he explained to me that this particular franchise is owned and operated by a union mine High School family. The restaurant is immaculately capped and meticulously organized. The food is INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS! I mean WOW! five stars our of 5 is not enough to describe this amazing barbecue restaurant. The portions were huge the selections were amazing, the staff was friendly everyone was busy doing something, and hearing the story my husband told me how the parents bought the franchise so that the children would all be part owners and that everybody has a stake in the business really touched me you could see that everybody has pride in the restaurant. I'm personally someone who loves a good barbecue meal and Dickieys doesn't disappoint. I highly encourage anybody to stop into this restaurant and I noticed that they cater so I highly encourage anybody to use this place for catering because I can guarantee they would be hard workers and provide an amazing spread for any office or large get togethers again I give a huge recommendation to this establishment. read more

We ordered 4 sides (you get 2 for each plate). 2 creamed spinach, one caesar salad, and baked potato casserole. Everything tasted excellent! Meat was tender and not dry. Pretty terrible customer service. I called a moth before ordering from the catering menu and asked if the coupon that they published on a website would be valid for that menu. The women on the phone ( I believe her name was Becky) assured me that it would be. I called again to place my order after purchasing the coupon and now they are saying that they won't honor their coupon. Needless to say we won't be back to this location. As someone who lives in placerville I have been to this place many many times. Why, because it is consistently good quality food served by friendly people. Today however, the ball got dropped hard somewhere. I don't know what happened to standards today but I'm going to tell you what we had and what was wrong. We got a couple of plates and the brisket was dry as a board and grey as could be. It tasted like it had been holding in a steamer all day and that's saying something since I got it around 5:30 PM. The jalapeno cheddar kielbasa was also dry as a board and that never happens. The jalapeno beans were super super spicy, which we usually like, but they had no salt. The baked potato casserole was also pretty bad as it was super dry and gloopy. I have had all of these things before and have loved them from this location. Please get your house back in order guys, because I would love to come back but I am scared to experience this again. read more

I do really like the new Dickies Placerville, but unfortunately just erased my incredible review because the owner didn't really seem to care about it much. In my world when a customer mentions that they posted a great review, it shouldn't get ignored. Nice people work there, but more smiles and gratefulness would be even better. I've been 4 times in the last 2 weeks but just a little discouraged now because customer service is #1 in my book. Just tried Dickey's for the first time because I had a coupon. I got a bunch of brisket and some sides. The brisket was excellent I will definitely go back. We also tried the coleslaw which my husband raved about and I thought was very good as well. The green beans were different than I expected, spicy and smoky, but still good. I'm picky but I was super impressed with the food and service. I had the turkey and chicken.

Order was wrong. Food was cold. I went in to see where my curbside order was. They yelled at me that they were too busy to pull it yet, but I saw 5 or 6 walk-ins that ordered at the counter. They said my oder was only 2 minutes late, but it was 10 minutes late. My order was just sitting on the counter: pulled (sides and all), but not brought out to me. They told me I used their app incorrectly. I used it correctly, they just never brought the order to me. They never wear masks over their nose so I didn't want to go in the store (I have leukemia so I take care regarding covid). I can't believe the food was just sitting there! It was super cold so they must have pulled the order much earlier. The order was missing two items. The owners son angrily slammed my order on the counter sending my sides into a mushed mess all over inside the bag! They were horrible. I used to dine there all the time and have ordered a couple holiday meals there: I will never go there again. For incredible customer service and good food check out Hog Wild Bar-b-que. This place just recently opened up, so I decided to go check it out. I really liked it. It was fast and convenient. The food was good and simple, great back to the basics concept. Good service, nice outdoor seating. The meat was cooked beautifully, full of flavor and not dried out. Portions were what portion should be. I'm looking forward to going back.
