I've been following this New restaurant on Facebook for about a week now. I was drawn in this morning with the biscuits & gravy. We drove about a half hour to get there, but TOTALLY worth it. This is not your normal restaurant B&G. It was huge portion, tons of sausage, and a little heat. We can't wait to come back and try the full menu. These small local restaurants are exactly what we search for when we want an awesome home cooked meal! Update: We went back today (9/5) to try the full menu and we got pretty close! Tried the sampler which included brisket, ribs, pulled chicken, Mac salad, & fries. The Brisket is amazing and the ribs were a very close 2nd. My 5 year old LOVED the ribs!!! Chicken is moist and tender. Homemade fries were good and my husband loved the pasta salad which is basically potato salad with noddles. We also got the pulled pork sandwich to share which was excellent. Ran out of slaw before we got there so had to double up on the fries. My favorite sauce was definitely the vinegar and my husband loved the Carolina. House sauce was perfect as well. Need to come back and try all the appetizers next! Might be able to get through the whole menu in less than a week! Lol

Rib-eye sandwich with fries.

Had the rib-eye sandwich with fries. It's literally a whole steak on a bun. Also has melted cheese and a blend of grilled onions and peppers. My wife had the pulled pork. Pretty average taste. For once it wasn't covered in coleslaw like most places do. Fries are pretty average. Overall a good meal at a real fair price.

Something tha i used to be good at! Thumbs up their asses!

When you get in there, order and the food is good- bonus. I suspect that most of the dishes here are good. The place filled up quick and folks kept coming during the 90-minutes or so that we were there. Peter and I both got the Brisket sandwich, I was happy with everything, the brisket was exceptional, they have multiple sauces on the table, tried them all- solid. The fries weren't special but were hot and salty. The coleslaw is pretty basic, but I suspect that is intentional to give you a flavor reset. The service was quick, and effective. Our server came by just enough to make sure we had everything we wanted. She also realized at a certain point that we were going to sit there and catch-up and she left us alone. The one oddity (and maybe she did tell me and I missed it), was that we had to bring the check up ourselves to the register. Bonus: Met 3 guys from Sweden who had flown in to Chicago to follow Route 66 across the country. Somehow beer at 1100 works with a European accent.

We unfortunately were in the pocket that they were out of the things I like to try in a BBQ restaurant I haven't been too. But I got a pulled pork brisket sampler. The meat was dry without the BBQ sauce which was disappointing. It should be juicy. The sausage sampler was great that my BF had. I probably won't be back as it didn't leave me craving for more, unfortunately.

My wife and I were visiting my niece, and on our way out of town we came across a little BBQ spot…read morecalled Sugar and Smoke. It's a neat-looking place--nicely decorated, inviting, and full of that good smoky aroma that hits you as soon as you step inside. We were welcomed immediately, told to sit wherever we liked, and our waitress followed us over to take our drink orders right away. My wife ordered the meatloaf special, and while I teased her for choosing meatloaf at a BBQ joint, I ended up going with the Smoked Reuben. They brought her an entire meatloaf, along with green beans and mashed potatoes. I'm not exaggerating--this loaf easily could have fed three people. It was so good she nearly hurt herself trying to finish it. She almost made it through all the green beans, too, but I managed to snag the last one--and it was delicious. Then came my Reuben: a massive, five-layer monstrosity. I actually asked the waitress whether they made it that way just to impress me (since I had announced upfront that I'm a bit of a Reuben snob, lol) or if all their Reubens are like this. She swore they're all made exactly the same. You've got to see the photo. The marbled rye was sturdy and didn't collapse under the weight of two layers of thinly sliced smoked beef and a thick layer of juicy, tangy sauerkraut. I'm a kraut lover, so I really appreciated how generous they were. The house-made Thousand Island-style sauce tied everything together perfectly. In the nearly 17 years I've been posting on Urbanspoon, Zomato, and now Yelp, this Reuben easily sits in my top three--maybe even my #1. The smoky flavor made it unique, and I loved it. My only regret was not being able to finish this monster of a sandwich--it was delicious but messy, and I went through a handful of napkins. A lovely lady came out to ask how I liked the Reuben and introduced herself as one of the owners. (I apologize--I've forgotten her name!) My only suggestion would be to keep the meat thinly sliced--shaved would be even better--and maybe offer a half portion at a lower price. As it was, I could barely touch my perfectly cooked French fries. To top off the experience, my wife ordered the bread pudding. She has a "gold standard" bread pudding from years ago that she compares all others to, and she said this one was just as good, if not better, than her all-time favorite. I wish we had a Sugar and Smoke closer to home, because it would absolutely be a regular stop for us. It's so refreshing to find an establishment that cares this much about its food and its customers.

Not what it used to be. It use to be, really good BBQ. My recent visit ordering a Two Meat Plate…read morewith Two Sides was a total disappointment. It was so disappointing, that I didn't even eat it all. I threw half of it away and I rarely waste food. My Two Plate was a Pork Steak and Brisket, with Smokehouse Beans and Spicy Cheese Corn. The Pork Steak was good, but the Brisket was dried and tough. The Smokehouse Beans have disappointed me before, but I wanted to give them another chance. Again, they were to runny and had not enough seasoning to give them pizzaz. Their Spicy Cheese Corn was just okay, it was cheesy, but did no live up to the "Spicy" name. What was most disappointing was the customer service. The young lady taking my order was friendly and professional, so she gets a thumbs up. The disappointment came when I was presented my order at the counter. As I waited for my for to be prepared I took a stool at the counter, just down from the register. When it was ready, the owner brought it out and dropped the bag in front of me and turned to walk away. No thank-you, no nothing. I had to speak first, to get response and it was just faint grunt. It is a sad day when a business owner cannot thank a customer for supporting his business.

My parents tried the pulled pork and said it was tender as well. The dinner portion of brisket was on the smaller side but it had great flavor & practically fell apart. The only things I didn't care for is the pickles (if you like sweet pickles you'll like these) & that sweet bbq is the only option for sauce, I love a spicy bbq, and honestly Phat head bbq sauce from the guy in holiday shores would compliment this bbq so well. But despite that I'd absolutely get dinner from here again.
