This is a casual BBQ with inside and outside dining for individuals, couples or groups. The menu is as expected. It has the Holy Trinity of Midwest smoked meats with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. Chicken is also available. Sides include the usual baked beans, green beans, coleslaw, mac & cheese, and others. Sandwiches and wraps are also available. The lunch special provides a good value, an entrée two sides and a drink for under $20. My pulled pork sandwich fell into that category. It was a hefty portion of meat, and my sides of green beans and coleslaw were good. The meat lacked a little bit of smoke. The coleslaw was overly sweet. The green beans were perfect. With minimal outside signage and a setback front door, this is an easy place to miss on the corner of Cherry and Second. It's in the former Good News Brewing Company space. Great local barbecue joint for sure! Our service was fantastic... It's an old brewery turned into a smokehouse, which makes it a pretty cool place to be and looks cool. We went to Troy for dinner, but Babylon was closed. So we decided to give this place a try. Food was amazing! I had the bowl and it was hands down the best if you don't want to eat bread. Visit: Saturday ~5:30pm I have been a customer of Big Sticky's for nearly a decade, appreciating its improved interior, expanded TV options, and wider beer selection. The menu has seen positive changes with added items and specials. However, recent visits have left me deeply disappointed due to severe understaffing issues plaguing the establishment. On my last two visits, it was evident that the restaurant was understaffed both at the front of house and in the kitchen. I witnessed a young server struggling to manage a packed restaurant single-handedly--handling tables, manning the register, and delivering food and drinks. Consequently, some tables endured excruciatingly long waits of over 30 minutes just to receive their first drink. Moreover, my table and others suffered from incomplete orders, with a majority of our food arriving late and, disappointingly, some dishes served cold. The decline in service quality due to understaffing is disheartening, especially considering the potential Big Sticky's possesses with its recent upgrades and menu enhancements. I urge the management to address these staffing issues promptly to ensure a more enjoyable and satisfactory experience for all customers and to maintain the restaurant's reputation. 2/5. Not a 1 only because I've had many good experiences in the past, and there's still potential to get back to that with proper staffing during peak business hours. read more

What a pleasant surprise!!!! Just happened to be in Troy and hungry- and boy what a meal! Ordered the ribs with beans and cheesy taters- my friend had the slaw and cheesy taters- the beans just weren't my style but everything else was worth the visit for sure- actually I enjoyed my meal twice!! Wow. Just wow. Sat outside on a beautiful Saturday evening. The food was so delicious. Hubs and I both had the Sticky Melt, the bacon on the burger was crispy and there was a lot of it! I had the pasta salad as a side and it was perfect. Draft beer was excellent. Hubs had the KC Beer Co Hef and I had the Sandman Red Ale. This place recently changed ownership. It is still locally owned, so that's good. The menu features the same food, though it is currently a limited menu. They added beer and deleted ice cream. Big Sticky's has slowly gone downhill over the years since it moved from the Kroger parking lot to a restaurant. It got overpriced and mediocre. My most recent visit was a mixed bag. My wife liked her Ruben, which is good, but my pork steak was cold, tough, and bland. The service was friendly but slow. read more

My daughter went into this restaurant one afternoon, we were told to have a seat and someone would be by to take our order. Twenty minutes later, no one had come to take our order or telling us they would be there soon, even though employees had walked by our table multiple times. Anytime I get directions that include statements like "keep going until you see the Dodge pickup parked backwards" I know that I am heading for a great local place. This time was no exception... This guy used to sell bbq from a stand in the parking lot of a local grocery store. I had heard great things about it but never managed to catch them when they were open. Now that they are in a permanent space I am guessing it will be far easier to get hold of their smoky goodness when I find myself in Troy. I had a half slab and a side of beans. The beans were good but slightly more spicy than I expected. Not that spicy is a problem, just that it was unexpected. The ribs were really, really good! Very meaty and tender with a rub that included a taste I couldn't quite put my finger on and the waitress wouldn't divulge. Maybe it will be more apparent to me on my next visit. One can only hope... The sauces options are limited but why provide options when you hit the ball out of the park with their "plain" sauce. It goes great on any food item you pair it with. The fries are where they are losing a star here. They seemed very undercooked and lacking of flavor. Though they are capable of being redeemed with the BBQ sauce. read more

Terrible service, food not any better. They were out of everything we wanted, so settled on the burnt ends and a pork steak. Their burnt ends were huge squares of fat with some kind of nasty sweet glaze on them. The pork steak was like shoe leather. The only thing I ate was the spicy green beans and cheesy potatoes, which were good. The potato salad had large chunks of red potatoes with some kind of sauce on them. We won't be returning, especially after having REAL BBQ in Kansas City and Tennessee. I'm not sure how this place stays in business or gets the ratings it has. read more

A great local place for BBQ. The brisket sandwich plate is a great deal you get a half pound of brisket on a bun and your choice of two side dishes. How long does get to bake potatoes and end up eating them with butter and sour cream with the brisket spread on top as I order sans bun. The owner, Tony, is a hoot. Start talking politics with him and you'll be there for two hours. But seriously give stickies a try; Great Troy location. read more

Apparently there is an issue with having licensed and verified service dogs in this establishment. The owner treated a patron badly after he told them they couldn't have their service dog in his establishment. After he was presented with the card and the laws he walked away disgusted and glared at them. This was also after their order was taken and money was received. Stay away! read more
