We were in Troy on business and needed a sit-down restaurant for supper. DH saw the sign on the highway that showed beautifully fried chicken, so we headed that way. It was early-ish so they weren't very busy. Looked the menu over -- no fried chickien. They had chicken tenders but chicken pieces were on the billboard and that's what we wanted. OK, so no chicken. Catfish was on the special menu so I got that with skinny fries. DH ordered a hamburger with steak fries and a bowl of fruit instead of one of the veggies of the day. It was a beautiful bowl of mixed fruit, but there was an unmentioned upcharge of $6!! When something costs more, it should be mentioned. My catfish was fine. The fries were awful. DH burger was fine -- he said the meat was well seasoned. He did enjoy the fruit. We probably will try someplace different if in Troy again. read more

Local eatery, serving all day breakfast. Great option besides a chain restaurant (Dennys). They have a decent variety of entrees, starters and salads as well. Been 3x since moving out to Lincoln County and have enjoyed all of our meals. Pancakes with pecans are delicious, French dip and Philly cheesesteak were flavorful and good amount of protein. Servers kept up with drink refills and are courteous. The last server we had was sweet, spunky and knew patrons by name. Gotta love that small town warmth! read more

The owners are kind and gracious hosts. The servers we've had are mostly friendly and fast. The food isn't bad. They have daily specials. They note serve farm raised organic chicken. The soups are too salty for me and so are any battered items. I love the fried chicken, but must remove the battered skin due to the over salting. The soups, I have been told, are made in house as well as the chicken menu. The vegetable sides tend to use canned vegetables, but one cannot get fresh vegetables I assume. They have wonderful pies and cakes that I have been told are made by a local baker. The rolls come out wrapped in plastic wrap I assume because they want them to remain soft. They do have a bar and make a good cocktail. The prices are good. It's a great place for breakfast or meeting a friend for coffee and dessert, or even an appetizer and a cocktail. read more

This is our regular weekend breakfast place. The omelets are great. The sour dough French toast is delicious. We usually do brunch and eat in the bar. Beer on tap, full bar if you want it ...Crown Royal Peach and OJ is a winner. The place is cute. The Service is good, waitresses are sweet and efficient. Tab is reasonable. Food is always fresh and flavorful. While usually frequented for breakfast they have great specials for any time of day. I got in a hurry this morning and sliced up my eggs and hash browns before taking a picture but who wouldn't be in a hurry? My wife and I went there on a late Sunday evening coming home from Hannibal, we live in St Peters. It was about 7ish and I thought they were closing soon, turns out they are opened until 9. The Jack Daniel's ribs were great, my wife got tortellini and liked it. I would highly recommend, the loss of 1 star is due to the baked potato. This diner is one of the few restaurants in Troy, MO that aren't fast food. It's a small-ish family restaurant with a variety of comfort foods on the menu. Daily Specials and Soups are written on the chalkboard as you walk in, and it's usually decent food. In addition to the restaurant, there is a bar area as you walk in to the right. It may be a full bar, but I haven't been there for drinks. The decor is dated, and there is a lot of brown. The servers are almost always friendly and quick to the table upon seating. The place is usually clean, and there's almost always a few people there. It's not in my top 100 favorite places to eat, but on a lazy evening, it's a hot meal worth the fair price. I was at this restaurant in Troy MO a week ago and when we called to inquire about peanut/tree nut allergy options we were told "you should be okay". As the grandmother, this always makes me, VERY suspect of the staff's understanding of the seriousness of the allergy. THAT SAID, I WAS THRILLED WHEN THE WAITRESS BROUGHT ME THE ICE-CREAM NUTRITION LABEL TO READ. I was able to see the dessert was okay for my 5 yr old grandson to eat! It's hard to have him look at others eating ice-cream when he can't, so he was not only healthy but also able to be included in the celebration of my Great Aunt and Great Uncle. They are long time residents of Troy, and suggested the restaurant. They are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this month!! read more

Well, they serve breakfast all day, so that's ALWAYS a plus! The tables seemed to be spread out a little (not sure about the 6 feet...) and the employees were wearing masks. The restrooms were clean. Now, on to the FOOD! I ordered Eggs with Corned Beef Hash, with an English Muffin. The eggs were cooked as I requested, the hash was excellent, and I requested crispy bacon to replace the side that was offered. They actually cooked the bacon the way I asked, which is just AWESOME! Placed an order for pick up from their menu online. Wanted a small burger so I asked which of their burgers was the cheapest. They said the house burger. Come to find out it's the most expensive and biggest. They argued about what comes on the country omelette. Said it didn't come with hasbrowns, but clearly stated it did. Everything was higher in price than what was on their website. Two burgers with fries and two omelettes came to $53. No way. And it was horrible. Both omelettes were over cooked and dry. One was missing sausage and gravy. Owner was rude and clearly didn't care that they failed on so many levels. Update their menu, properly train their employees, and treat paying customers with a little respect. Don't plan to ever visit again. Its atmosphere is dated and stinks of smoke too. read more

My neighbor suggested Zadocks. My experience was not so good. The Creamy Tomato Soup - an orangey concoction that looked like carrot soup. The taste was terrible. Not like and tomato soup I have ever had. One bite and sent back in exchange for salad which had some bad lettuce pieces, couple of tiny slivers of tomatoe, in other words, not a very good salad. My companion ordered a Reuben. It was only OK. My Liver and Onions had good flavor but very dry since no gravy was provided. I asked for gravy and I was charged for it. I have been eating liver & onions for seventy some years and it was always made with gravy. Liver had quite a few veins. These normally get cut out. The biggest disappointment was our server, who was not very attentive and slow slow. When I presented my card, she returned with merchant and guest copy but not the itemized receipt. This was my first and last visit. There are several other places in Troy with way better food and service. read more

The last time I was there I had the seniors club and I got a steak and it was very tough. I couldn't hardly chew it. I had to send it back and got something else I the time before that I had gotten the steak it was very tender, so I don't know what the deal was but the food is excellent as far as I'm concerned, but it said, except for the last timeand I do like their deal on the senior clubs. I've been here several times over the last 10 years and the food has never been better than mediocre at best. But it's Troy, so there aren't many choices, and sometimes you get desperate. Service is usually good, but it can be hit or miss. Where they really drop the ball is with carry out. Multiple times the order has been wrong, usually missing something. I've started checking it before I leave and still managed to get home without a sandwich; guess that's on me for not opening the bag and unpacking everything instead of taking her word for it. The thing that really drives me crazy is that the last few times I've tried ordering, I'll call, get put on hold "for a second" and then get forgotten about. After five minutes or more, I'll call back, and the line will be busy until I finally just give up and go somewhere else. I guess they're doing me a favor. read more

First of all, This place is a non smoking restaurant. I was reading the other posts and was hesitant on going due to smoking. Second, the breakfast menu was filled with your standard down home delicious breakfast items. I ordered the 2+2+2. 2 pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 bacon. The eggs were fluffy and cooked a perfect fried. The bacon was awesome. It was a bit cold when I received it however bacon is bacon.... it's good anyway. The pancakes were super fluffy and tasted light. The service was personal and friendly!
