Scary, people in the kitchen preparing food without a mask. Irresponsible management

Awful waitress. Our order got messed up, I understand mistakes, but she was so unprofessional. She went on cussing about the kitchen. I mean, the order was the wrong stuff, not low quality food. We didn't eat any, but it didn't look bad. Instead of getting or putting in (for the 1st time) our order, she wanted to complain to us then to a fellow waiter about the kitchen. No manager ever came around. Our food was good. When it came out a thousand hours later. I'd have rather waited for a different waitress. read more

A good family restaurant. My wife and I come here at least once a week. Very friendly staff and good food. They always have "specials" and they "farm out" the desserts.....a cooler full of homecooked pies and cakes. You won't be disappointed. read more

Not the place that used to be, why the food quality is fair. The service is horrible. They nickel and dime you every little add on that is standard at every other restaurant...sure we all understand that prices have gone up and it's hard on all of us, but when you get nickel and dimed for things that should be included in your meal, it becomes a hard pill to swallow. Not sure if it's under new ownership but you never see someone that is obviously in control of the restaurant and the food quality. Also if the food quality is bad and you tell your server, they tend to just look at you and say well. Sorry that's it. I take my kids to eat there and I'm watching the cost and then I see all additions on my bill for extra dressing,cheese, onions,pickles. You would figure these things would come in a hamburger.... French fries are now an extra on a sandwich or a hamburger. Last time I checked it billed as a family restaurant but it's become family unfriendly. I can't afford to take my kids out to eat on a Sunday afternoon like we used to. I'm not sure economy or the ownership but I think it has something to do with both. Time to look elsewhere So sad to see a great place go down hill. read more

This review is only based off of a to go French dip I got. For $7.99 you get just a bun with roast beef and auju. It was a sad sandwich. The roast beef texture was just ok as well as the flavoring. Nothing I'd recommend but it was edible. I'd be willing to give the restaurant another shot but I will not be ordering this sandwich again. read more

Ordered the classic ...special...meatloaf. Not edible. Had high hopes...the staff was great. The chef was not. There was nothing special about the completely lazy meat loaf the kitchen made...completely not edible. Again staff was friendly and as it turns out the pie was great. We are new to the area. Just tried Zadock's last week for lunch and then Sunday for breakfast. Both times service was wonderful, food was cooked exactly as requested and serving portions were very good for the price. I expect we will be back on a regular basis. read more

I've only tried the country fried steak but it was great! I did takeout wait wasn't long and staff were very nice.

In my book it is hard to go wrong with a gyro. Zadock's does not disappoint. Though they are not breaking any new ground here this was a welcome stop on our road trip where no chain restaurants are allowed. The restroom could use some livelier graffiti. read more

The food is subpar. The burgers aren't cooked right and the fries were cold. Don't offer ice cream as a dessert unless it's hand scooped or soft serve. Ice cream out of a styrofoam container that you can buy at the local Walmart shouldn't be served at a sit down restaurant. If I wanted that, I'd go to Walmart to get it and save myself some money. Had I known that, I wouldn't have ordered it. No manager around to deal with other patrons being loud and disruptive. The wait staff could be more attentive. Total disappointment for the price. Next time we'll go to Wentzville for a sit down meal. I will not be back. read more

It is unfortunate that Lincoln County still allows smoking in restaurants. I live in Troy and try to patronize the local businesses but I'm afraid I won't be eating here anymore. The waitresses are pleasant but semi attentive even when the place isn't busy. The food reminds me of frozen, processed and canned and just reheated or fried. Nothing fresh or homemade. The breakfast is a little better than the rest but everything lacks seasoning. Then there is the smoking issue. You are hit with a cloud of smoke as soon as you walk in. They installed a door to the bar/smoking area but there is a 8 inch gap above it and it's usually propped open when we go in. We desperately need a good restaurant in this town. read more

I've been to Zadock's a couple of time and everything about it is below average. My food wasn't seasoned well and bordered on tasteless. On one occasion all I ordered was a burger and a couple sides and they couldn't even season a burger correctly. Ther service was just fine but the food is underwhelming to say the least. It's Troy so I may give them another chance. read more

A fairly older place with older decor inside. The waitresses are friendly, somewhat attentive. There were only 2 settings of tableware and we had a party of 4. I waited to see if it was noticed by the waitress, however it wasn't. No extra napkins offered, but we did get offered to go drinks as well as asked if we needed anything else at the end before receiving our check. The four of us agreed the food had good flavor, however portions of sides were quite small. You only get a small handful of fries which you have the option to add on to your meal for a dollar. I had the mushroom Swiss burger and would recommend it. 1 of the 2 kids had the Italian sandwich which is meatball sandwich, she liked it and it did look pretty good. The other kid had a chicken sandwich which was 2 chicken strips on a bun. Kind of disappointing to me, but she liked it. My wife had the patty melt and said it was pretty good. Extra notes: dirty floors, dirty restrooms with faulty faucet handles and the hot water was not working (or quick enough) . I did see someone forget their leftovers and a busser ran out to give it to the customer . Overall with some added effort it has potential here. If I lived closer I'd probably visit often. read more

This is a smoking restaurant. I didn't even realize that was legal still and wish that was a fact that I would have known before driving to eat breakfast here. The whole place smelled like cigarettes and tainted my whole meal and experience. My server was friendly, and the food was basic diner food, cooked well, nothing to write home about. I would definitely find a different breakfast option if you don't want smoke clouds effecting your meal. read more

I'm a city girl at heart, but I do occasionally like to try the country style, and since my mom lives right down the street from Zadock's, I thought I'd give it a whirl. I was pleasantly surprised! The menu is way more diverse than it really has any right to be in a place like Troy, with items like Greek gyros, French monte cristos, Japanese stir-fry, down home country chicken, St. Louis classic baked ravioli, and even some vegetarian options. I've eaten breakfast and lunch here and both were above average in taste and very, very affordable to boot. They have omelets, pancakes, waffles, burgers, spaghetti, sandwiches, and a ton more. I didn't even peruse the whole menu, but I do appreciate the lengths they go to to have a little something for everyone. It's a much better option than Denny's, which serves similar but worse quality items. read more

The wife and I stopped in for lunch one day. The waitress was awesome. Wish I remembered her name. We both went for the the Ruben sandwich, mine with onion rings and the wife's with the house chips. Everything was perfect and tasted great. We will for sure be back again. read more

Ate at Zadock's today after having driven past their 5,000 times... Service was friendly, food was slightly above average - fried chicken (not on the menu everyday) was excellent, and they had good french salad dressing and bread. -1 star for not having Sweet Tea... Anyplace like this should have sweet tea. After I asked for it and was told all they had was unsweet, I settled for water. Heard the waitress tell the people at the table across the way the same thing - no sweet tea. I honestly didn't find a lot I would order off the regular menu, don't know why the chicken isn't on there every day - it was good. Corn that came with the chicken came out of a big can, and fries were average, but chicken had nice flavor and very crispy skin. They serve breakfast anytime, so I will have to come back another time to try the breakfast. Not a place I would go out of my way to eat at, but if you don't want Fast Food, Mexican, Chinese, or BBQ or want to go to the trough at Ponderosa - this is about your only choice in Troy. If you stop there you can expect a decent meal at a very reasonable price - the special with 4 pieces of chicken, fries or mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad, and bread only came to $9.75 with tax because I drank water. Very pleased! This was my first visit, and I will definitely be returning. The menu was varied, and not overly expensive. Portion sizes were generous, and the food was all delicious. The first things we noticed walking in were the reek of cigarettes and the food on the floor. We were seated at a dirty booth (both the seats and the table had food bits all over) and given sticky menus. The prices were okay but we decided to leave without ordering. If the public area is that filthy and you have to pry the menu pages apart to look at it, I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. read more

Had breakfast here since I was in the area; travel here very often. First time here and yes I thought Smoking is allowed but it is not and I was very happy to see the No Smoking sign. I was promptly seated, ordered coffee and few minutes later ordered the Country Skillet. Very busy and parking lot was almost full. My order arrived on a large plate and it was very delicious. My eggs arrived Over Easy soft just as I had ordered. It was a substantial amount and took the rest home, and had it for part of my Dinner. The cashier, waitress are very friendly, and courteous, and asked how my food tastes and I gladly replied great! Since I am not from the area and my first time here there was a little difficulty in finding it even though I can see it atop a hill from Highway 47. That's me not the restaurant but now I know how to find it, since it is on Prospect Circle that exits, and enters onto Highway 47. First time here and will be returning. Noticed families at several tables which is a good thing. read more

We have eaten there twice and will go back and also recommend highly. Chicken fried steak was excellent. Mom got the regular instead of the senior and it was more than enough to feed a hungry starving XL truck driver, I had spaghetti and meatballs. Taste was good, service was good, food served with adequate amount of bread. On our 2nd visit mom had to have the chicken fried steak. I had the greek salad and we share a appetizer assortment. XTREMELY ALL GOOD !!! This 9s how a restaurant should be, place is clean, wait staff service excellent and everyone is friendly. Great family atmosphere. read more

The food caters to retired folks and is pretty much old school style food. I'd say marginal but wait staff was very friendly.

What a great little Missouri gem! I didn't know what to expect when walking into this restaurant with its minimal signage and decor, but I was pleasantly surprised. I consider myself to be a grilled cheese connoisseur, and Zadocks out did itself! Texas toast perfectly buttered and grilled to perfection with the right amount of American cheese nestled in between made for a delicious lunch. Paired with steak fries and a friendly and efficient server, my lunch was great! Any time I am out this way again, I will be stopping in for an all-American meal. read more

This restaurant is a very "good" place to eat; especially if a waitress named Kate is serving. I recently lost my wife and after the funeral 20 of us went to Zadock's. Kate was the server and did a tremendous job. She handled all 20 of our meals, wants, and needs in a very proud professional manner. Even though this was a sad occasion; Kate made my whole party seem important. I must say that my family eats out a lot; and Kate is one of the best servers I have ever had. Food is good, simple American cuisine at very reasonable prices. The have a little bit of everything on the menu from pasta, burgers, chicken fried steak and teriyaki. Yes, our party of 8 ordered all of that and it was great food at a very reasonable price. Soup was great, salad is basic, nothing fancy. Service was friendly and you won't leave hungry.
