They weren't lying - no teef needed for their beef!

No doubt I would be back if I didn't live 3 states away. Heck, I may be back anyway! Ordered a large bowl of mashed taters with brisket and about 3 types of cheese and green onion and I don't know what else. It was *phenomenal*. The place itself had such a wonderful, rustic feel to it. Wood furniture and finishing, antique signs and artwork, and just had a real strong down-home sort of fee that you like in that sort of place. Service was fast and friendly throughout from the hostess to the waitress. Highly recommend stopping by!

Sweet and Smokey was the winner!

Great BBQ restaurant! Had the ribs with German potato salad and poppyseed coleslaw. All was excellent. Fast, friendly service. Add this place to your list if in Cuba, MO!

If you're doing Route 66 or even just passing Cuba Missouri you'll see signs for this place. I'm glad we did. We wanted something other than burgers and let me tell ya, this hit the spot. It's a cute little bbq joint where the theme matches the name of the place. I had the sampler platter and it was amazing. The meats were all tender and the baked beans were some of the best I've had. The Mac n cheese is the only thing that I would have preferred have a tad more flavor and cheesiness. Still good though. My daughter had an appetizer that had brisket and mashed potatoes. Amazing as well. Service was great. Our waitress was really nice and did a fantastic job as well! Prices were reasonable for today's environment. If you're hungry and in the area...stop in and check them out. You won't be disappointed!

Every time we are headed out west we make a stop at Missouri Hick BBQ. Located on RT 66 it is steeped in history and Goodness. BBQ is juicy and tender. One can say you have died and gone to heaven after having a plate of their Barbeque. Tasty and delicious. Portion sizes are large so bring your appetite. Wait staff are warm and inviting.... waits can be long but well worth it

We saw the signs on the highway and decided to try Missouri-style BBQ on the famous Route 66. There were several cars in the parking lot which we took as a good sign, and it was. The ambiance is great, it is perfect for a casual group, family or couple. The decor is cozy country cabin with a lot to look at, from vintage gas pumps to an old bees nest. The hostess told us we could sit where we liked and we made our way to a back room where there was a fire blazing in the beautiful stone fireplace (which was great on a cold winter's day). Our server greeted us cheerfully and gave us ample time to look over the menu. When she came back to check on us, she was quick to make recommendations such as their creamy mac and cheese topped with bacon, the slow cooked baked beans, and the best German potato salad that I have ever had! We asked how big the portions were and she said it depended on how hungry we were and that she had seen people share. Unsure, we ordered two, two-meat plates with two sides each. She returned just a few minutes later with two large, sectioned dinner plates, overflowing with food! The Cherry-wood-smoked dry-rubbed ribs were amazing, the pulled brisket was very flavorful and the pulled pork had a beautiful smokiness as well. All of the meats, and the sides she had suggested, were very generously portioned and we definitely over-ate. For two adults I would definitely recommend sharing a plate. Overall it was a great experience, and a great change from the commercial chain restaurants so prevalent today.

Really good bbq spot in n a real life small Missouri town. Stop in Cuba MO for a quick bit or full on dinner. An old southern setting with all wood and varnish tables warm and inviting. Even the restroom is an old style outhouse feel. Tables set up with a choice of five different style bbq sauces run the gamut from sweet mild to spicy sweet heat. Few frills and all thrills in the traditional sense, the menu is straightforward from pulled pork to brisket. Generous size portion's with chips, pickle and a side choice. I did an Ory's Special 50/50 brisket/pulled pork Sammy and loaded it with left bbq sauce excellent choice. My buddy knocked off s brisket dinner. The best part of the meal was the service as the two girls working on this Monday afternoon were a class act. Both super friendly warm and inviting to a coupla fish outta water city boys. Nothing makes a good meal great like great hospitality.

Low 3/5. I want to like this place more but the brisket is chopped and the turkey is sliced deli thin and is always dry. My ribs were inedible this time though last visit I liked them. My server was awesome and I'm sure if you hit this place at just the right time it can be pretty good for what it is, but there's no way this is award winning bbq as per the billboards.

The food was delicious, I found that the coleslaw was one of the best . Being a Texas boy , I'm not a fan of using sauce on my bbq but if I had to it means the actual meat had no flavor. Missouri hicks bbq can put down some good good. No sauce needed . But if I had to . Id say Smokey would be my pick . The service is great waitress are very in tune to the customers and very pretty I might add. Katlyn was my waitress. She was quick with my food. Took the time to make my night here enjoyable. The place has country vibe . It's a bbq place got to love it .. had to wait awhile but in the end it was worth the wait. Full happy and ready to hit the road. Till my next adventure.

Food was mediocre at best. I got the two meat combo; St Louis Ribs and Brisket with Cole slaw and Mac n cheese as sides. Ribs were tender but lacked smoked flavor or seasoning. Brisket came chopped up and was dry even though I asked for it moist. If you're decent at smoking meats you'll have a better product a home. Coleslaw was plain but could use some kind of seasoning (maybe put some celery salt and pepper in there?) Mac n cheese good but kinda luke warm when served. Server was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere felt more like a cabin in the woods than a BBQ joint. Place was clean.

Very good Barbecue! Great decorations! Friendly service! Loved the sweet and spicy sauce with my pulled pork! Green beans were yummy!

Y'all need to bookmark and stop here when passing through! A tad bit off the main highway, but well worth the diversion! If you are local, you likely have already been here a time or three. You can't help but see this place! Just look for the huge hog on the roof! As we pulled into the parking lot and parkied in front of the water wheel of the mill pond, there was a bull frog that had to be massive! It was louder than my subwoofer! I'll be honest, I did keep my distance from that pond as it sounded like a monster. The inside décor is what you would want in a BBQ Joint. Lots of wood paneling, lots of cool items hanging on the walls/ceilings and lots of wonderful smells of BBQ in the air! Dennis Meiser, a master BBQer and woodworker, is the creator. He made the tables and chairs plus the cedar stairs leading up to the balcony. All of their meats are seasoned with a special rub and then smoked overnight in cherry for 12 hours. We were shown to a table with all kinds BBQ sauces. As I looked around, I saw our fellow patrons eating and enjoying many items from the menu. I ordered brisket and pork ribs with a side salad and German potato salad. In no time, it was in front of me. The flavor and aroma was very nice. (Cherry smoke can be a little strong/different to some. I like it mixed with pecan and white oak, but that is my weird tastes.) The salad was quite good and not just lettuce. The German potato salad was pretty good as well, with a great tart flavor! The price was reasonable and the service was quite good! I should add, the bull frog seemed louder as we left so I got in the Jeep a little faster than normal.

BBQ was ok. I got the sampler. Brisket was slightly under (chewy), pork good, ribs fatty. Sides were ok. Service was good.

The concept is genuinely fun: you sit down and feel like you've boarded a vintage rail car, complete with that "on the way to somewhere better" energy. Unfortunately, the illusion peaks a bit earlier than the appetizers. After seeing glowing Yelp reviews, we arrived expecting small-town culinary magic. What we got felt more like Amtrak dining car, but the train is delayed and the kitchen is understaffed. Service was pleasant--no complaints there--just moving at the leisurely pace of a scenic rail tour through the Midwest. The food itself lands firmly in the "fine, technically edible" category, which is not what you hope for when the internet has promised greatness. The highly praised wings arrived absolutely committed to their sauce--gloppy enough that you start wondering if the chicken was merely an accessory. A light brushing and sauce served on the side would have kept things from turning into an edible slip-and-slide. The French onion soup also took a creative detour from tradition. Swiss cheese instead of gruyère sets the tone, and from there it becomes less "soup" and more "onion-forward gravy experiment." After a couple bites, the rest felt like a suggestion rather than an obligation. The roast beef sandwich leaned heavily into bread architecture while treating the roast beef like an optional insert. The meat itself had a distinctly packaged deli-cold-cut energy--efficient, but not exactly artisanal. Even the house salad managed to surprise, featuring tiny cheese pellets that suggest innovation in texture design, if not necessarily in enjoyment. And then there's the atmosphere note: smoky in a general sense, just not in the dining room--so you get ambiance without full immersion. The only real head-scratcher, though, is the level of restriction around what guests can bring in--at one point making you feel like your own onions might be considered contraband. It's a rare dining experience where you leave thinking, "I wasn't allowed to improve my meal, and somehow I still considered it." In the end, if this represents top-tier dining in Cuba, Missouri, then Michelin inspectors might want to keep the train rolling straight through without stopping. It's not a disaster--just a very enthusiastic theme restaurant where the theme outruns the kitchen by a few stations.

The salsa was amazing and the fire bbq sauce was perfect. Ribs fell apart and the rub was so flavorful. I added bbq sauce but didn't need too. The sweetness was finger licking good. The beans were very good too. Spicy with a kick Highly recommend stopping here. Its a food truck out side a gun range doesn't look fancy but don't let that deter you. I was worried it wouldn't be enough so I bought two extra ribs. Excellent ribs; fall-off-the-bone meat perfectly spiced, with a nice peppy sauce. The good man running the place said they've been there for about five years. Hopefully, they'll be around for a lot longer! The ribs were huge, and now I've got two in the fridge for tomorrow because three were more than enough. Coleslaw is as close to perfect as it can get. Sweet with a hint of vinegar tang. The beans are sweet, with a generous helping of rib meat. Two sides of these would be a meal unto themselves. The only "complaint" I had was it could have stood a slice of white bread, just for mopping it all up so as to not miss a drop. But that's not really a complaint at all. Price was BELOW what it's worth. I would gladly have paid more for this perfect BBQ meal. I'll be back regularly.
