Frisco Bar and Grill is one of those places that commits hard to a theme and then gently asks the food to catch up later. The concept is genuinely fun: you sit down and feel like you've boarded a vintage rail car, complete with that "on the way to somewhere better" energy. Unfortunately, the illusion peaks a bit earlier than the appetizers. After seeing glowing Yelp reviews, we arrived expecting small-town culinary magic. What we got felt more like Amtrak dining car, but the train is delayed and the kitchen is understaffed. Service was pleasant--no complaints there--just moving at the leisurely pace of a scenic rail tour through the Midwest. The food itself lands firmly in the "fine, technically edible" category, which is not what you hope for when the internet has promised greatness. The highly praised wings arrived absolutely committed to their sauce--gloppy enough that you start wondering if the chicken was merely an accessory. A light brushing and sauce served on the side would have kept things from turning into an edible slip-and-slide. The French onion soup also took a creative detour from tradition. Swiss cheese instead of gruyère sets the tone, and from there it becomes less "soup" and more "onion-forward gravy experiment." After a couple bites, the rest felt like a suggestion rather than an obligation. The roast beef sandwich leaned heavily into bread architecture while treating the roast beef like an optional insert. The meat itself had a distinctly packaged deli-cold-cut energy--efficient, but not exactly artisanal. Even the house salad managed to surprise, featuring tiny cheese pellets that suggest innovation in texture design, if not necessarily in enjoyment. And then there's the atmosphere note: smoky in a general sense, just not in the dining room--so you get ambiance without full immersion. The only real head-scratcher, though, is the level of restriction around what guests can bring in--at one point making you feel like your own onions might be considered contraband. It's a rare dining experience where you leave thinking, "I wasn't allowed to improve my meal, and somehow I still considered it." In the end, if this represents top-tier dining in Cuba, Missouri, then Michelin inspectors might want to keep the train rolling straight through without stopping. It's not a disaster--just a very enthusiastic theme restaurant where the theme outruns the kitchen by a few stations. read more

We've been a big fan of their famous wings since about 2014. They are both sweet and hot and absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked! The Frisco Railroad motif throughout the establishment (along the tracks in a darling mural town) is lovely. Enjoy a pound of wings, but place an order to go (1#, 3#, or 5#) because you'll crave them when you get home (to St Louis in our case)! Ask for extra sauce for reheating. Blare the train whistle! Food was superb! Wings are a must try, fish and chips with slaw was like no other, one of the best burgers ever, and the desserts were satisfyingly sweet. Our waiter was friendly, engaging, and kept the refills coming. Loved the moving train window scenery by our oversized booth. Plan to return and try their other offerings. read more

Smoking in a restaurant ....really? NBA Finals not on in the bar. Asked and was told we couldn't do that because the one guy at the bar, smoking while he ate was glued to the Louisville/Oregon St. collage baseball game. The only TV that the whole bar could see. Epic fail. read more

Gotta get the Hot Wings! WOW! I'll try to keep this short... The wings are a must try. They are famous for their sweet hot sauce which to me was more of a sweet glaze with not much heat compared to what I am used to. It was however tremendous! The way the underlying glaze cracked with the first bite reminded me of a honey barbecue glaze that is baked on after frying, before being tossed a second time in a fresh coat. Not sure the frying, baking, tossing, glazing procedure Frisco's does but it was very good. Next up was the Buffalo chicken dip Wontons. These too were fabulous! The ranch served with them was also great. Not sure the brand or if it was homemade but it had slightly sweet undertone and was a little thinner than others. Again, unique and delicious. Between the 3 of us we ordered a double burger, a grilled chicken sandwich, and a Frisco melt. We all agreed the the food was excellent! The burger I had was fresh and juicy, but slightly under seasoned IMO. Chicken sandwich was huge, and the Frisco melt was great! Even the fries were delicious and seasoned with a blend of unique spices. Our server was fantastic and very attentive despite the kitchen moving a little slower that what I presume it usually does. Bottom line... Frisco's is a great stop if your in the area or just passing through like we were. The service is top notch, and the unique flavor twists on standard Bar and grill food make it a worth while stop. read more

I am a very frequent customer at Friscos! Some of my favorite apps are the wings, spinach artichoke dip, pretzel bites, and stuffed mushrooms. My favorites meals are the French onion soup with a baked turkey sandwich, chef salad, gruffalo chicken sandwich, buffalo shells and cheese, and fried chicken on Thursdays! The house dressing for the salads is also delicious. He makes his dressings and wing sauces from scratch. Honestly you can't go wrong with a meal here! Our food was very good! The fried pickles were actually made in house and not a pre-breaded item. The artichoke spinach dip was very tasteful and the chips with it were freshly fried. Salad was nice and fresh!! The prime rib was excellent. I ordered an extra size cut, and it was reasonably priced. Very flavorful. The service was very good. Our server was very attentive, I apologize for not remembering her name. Only issue was that the salad was brought out before the appetizers were finished. The Manager, Carey was attentive and visited the table enough to ensure that we were satisfied. The atmosphere was inviting. The decor reflected the old train station. I was told that I HAD to try their chicken wings. Being something of a wing aficionado I had to go. They sell their wings by the pound. I was pretty hungry so I ordered two pounds of wings. I should have only done 1lbs. These wings were pretty good-sized. Not really what I was expecting. The wings were cooked perfectly, not too crispy and not too soft. The sauce was not spicy at all. It must be a homemade blend that had a little spice and a little sweet. It actually was not bad, but not really to my taste. The young lady behind the bar who took my order was very friendly and helpful. If I was in the area I would definitely go back, but Id like to try something else, or those same wings with BBQ sauce. read more

Frisco What a great time I had there to learn the history of this place. A original train depot. Had a conversation with the owner and learned about his recent addition. In the back of the restaurant in the main dining room are four windows that basically make you feel like you're sitting on the train as you are passing by the landscape, what a excellent idea. Kiyah was great and I really enjoyed chatting with the owner, Jimmy. The only thing that I disliked about this place was the smoking in the bar area. I am not a smoker nor do I care for it. Everything else was top notch. Make sure you check some other things around the area, super fun good time for a stroll. I WOULD recommend. read more

Ordered a Frisco Burger not knowing it wasn't a fresh burger.... it was dropped off and the bartender never came back, I asked someone else for another drink and asked for my burger to be taken off, she was very rude when asking why. It was hard and overcooked. I said I didn't realize it was a frozen burger. She very rudely said she would have to talked to her manager. She said I ate half the burger. I did not. I asked for it to be taken off and charge me for my cottage cheese. They did an adjustment and brought me my ticket, onions come on the Frisco melt so I don't understand the adjustment. I would have drank more. We come here from Rolla often. Sad. I have been a server for 24 years.... I know a little about customer service. AND when you can see the girl in the gray sweatshirt taking smack about you when she wasn't our bartender and she was extremely rude to us..... sigh. read more

My friends and I stopped here for a late lunch today while driving through the area on a road trip for my birthday. We weren't sure what to expect, but we really enjoyed our meals. One of us got a 10 inch pizza with vegan pepperoni and jalapenos and a salad. I tried the pizza and enjoyed it. The salad looked really fresh and nice. Another friend had a spinach salad that was huge and fresh that she really enjoyed. Another friend had roast beef on garlic cheese bread and said it was delicious and on a nice roll. I had the chicken wings and really enjoyed them. They were cooked nicely with a unique sauce that I liked a lot. Our server Bethany was good. It's a cute place. Good menu with lots of choices for varying tastes. Decent outdoor dining area and appreciate the fan on the patio. Best atmosphere inside. We were there about 6 - 8 pm on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was pretty busy, but the hostess Rachel and the server Jayda were both attentive and great about keeping us updated on the status of being seated and our drink and food orders. jayda was great about refilling my kids drinks and was really a good server. The restaurant kitchen didn't seem able to keep up with the crowd...although once our food came out it was presented well and tasted good. a lot of people around us were really taking that out on the waitstaff which was a shame. jayda and the other servers / busboy were great and remained polite to the impatient folks the whole time. Consider amping up the kitchen staff to get food out faster and keep pressure off the servers. read more

We were seated right away in one of the train booths (ask to sit here if you have children). The server was attentive and polite. The choice of menu items is great and the food was delicious. I had a Reuben and French Onion Soup; the best I've had. My husband had the pizza; he said it was good. The manager came around and asked everyone how their meal was; great customer service. When you leave they have a train whistle you can blow if you enjoyed your experience. We pulled it twice, lol ! I wish we lived closer because we would definitely eat here frequently. read more

The bar area was well staffed, and everyone was moving serving the guest in a timely manner. The entire ambience of the restaurant is awesome. 5 out of 5. Our waiter was not very good with our order, and there were only two of us. It took over an hour and a half to get our meal. An hour for the appetizers, and to get that served to us another waiter checked in on us. We were there before the dinner rush there were a couple other tables. My Frisco didn't even have sauce on it. We didn't finish any of our food. I was disappointed with the experience. read more

They were busy when we first arrived, however, it was something to witness seeing tables get steaks, salads and waited on and fed, who all were seated after our party, when we just ordered sandwiches. No refills. No nothing. Never again. Please don't waste your time. There was literally no reason. They were not short staffed. All other servers were actually serving food....go figure.
