The front window of this store painted prominently with the words 'Organic Whole Food' will surely attract a health conscious lunch crowd, but neither my wife nor I found the word 'organic' in the description of any menu items around or above the counter where they assemble salad bowl's or wraps. Now that I found this entry for them on Yelp with no noticeable mention of the claim of Organic Whole Food, I don't know what to believe. My wife and I both ordered a vegan salad bowl on our first visit. The salad greens looked fresh and the salad tasted good. The eatery has 102 reviews which averaged a 4 star rating, but we could not find the word organic mentioned in any of the reviews! I will be the first to admit that I have not been able to tell, much less taste a difference between fresh organic food and fresh conventional food. Has anyone else noticed the discrepancy? In terms of choice, facility or variety, Cava in Chapel Hill next to the Whole Food Store has more choice of greens and more seating, Core Life at Crossroads in Cary is larger and have a much richer offering, but the prices at all these free places are comparable. Strange that Diced can offer organic while neither of the other two places advertises organic food. The rating I gave disregards whether we ate all organic entries, but I like to hear from other reviewers what they know about the authenticity of the all organic food. Diced has gone way downhill. The items are pre-chopped. (Dice used to chop to order) Not very fresh. It's now nothing but a glorified salad bar. You could do better at Whole Foods or Wegman's when it gets here. The employees behind the counter are disinterested. The food was incredible, I had a southwest crunch bowl with Santa Fe ranch, food was fresh and absolutely delicious. If you like a lot of veggies in your salad like I do then expect to pay for it. I ate a $16 salad . It was good but pricey. The employees there were nice. The place was clean and small. My favorite of the salad places in the Triangle. Always get the same thing- a spicy thai with shrimp added. They know me and know my order in there by now so I dont even have to ask for my specific dressing or to get siracha on the side at this point. They are the nicest staff ever! They even deal with my crazy two year old rearranging all of their chips from time to time. I went back a second time during lunch for a salad. This time, I asked for the Southwest salad and asked for grilled chicken. Even though the salads have descriptions and ingredients, they still ask you what type of lettuce you want and what type of dressing and so on. There are too many questions and it is just a salad. Each person has their task and no one cross- trains. In an assembly line, things move along down the line. In this case, your lettuce moves to the next person who adds the toppings and then to the designated dicer who loudly chops it all up in a silver bowl. In my case, the guy behind me cut me because his wrap was done first and then he motioned for his lunch partner to join him. I got bumped by two people ?!? By the time I made it to the register, I was asked if I wanted a preferred card. After this experience, I will not be coming back so no I don't want a stamp card. I paid $9.63 for my salad and left. When I got back to the office, there was no chicken on my salad after I asked first thing in the production line. I feel like $10 for just vegetables is a lot and I got cut in line twice. For the price, I had expected a dinner bowl not a side salad. We were all hungry after eating the bowls The grains in the greens and grain turned out to be brown rice (also a selection) not a mixture of grains. Overpriced and little bowls. Not again. There is no selection on the Order Now menu to order different size salad. Pricing ranges from $8.95 to $11.45 which is what we paid. After hearing Carey Mulligan talk about what she missed most about NYC the most was chopped salads on Kelly & Michael yesterday, I thought yeah girl I hear ya. There are days while driving from one meeting to the next where all I think about is where to get a salad. No I don't want some pre-packaged soggy lettuce plastic tasting salad. I want a fresh salad and I want it fast and easy to talk on the road. We had similar concepts to Diced in Charlotte and I practically lived there. I was beyond excited when I heard Diced was opening, the location isn't super convenient for me but since it's so close to Trader Joe's I have an excuse to come to Cary. I walked into a small place with a large menu board by the salad bar. This isn't serve yourself YES, they make the salads for you, - less germs yay!! The concept is simple pick one of their signature salads (also could be made into a wrap) or build your own starting at $6 for 4 toppings and it goes up from there. I would have built my own but that was just too much work for me today, I decided on the Cobb salad no bacon. I know how do you eat a Cobb salad without bacon and trust me I wanted the bacon, but let's just say I've had my fair share of bacon this week and my body needed a break. You pick your super fresh lettuce from a choice of romaine, spinach, kale, or mixed artisan greens, walk through and choose your toppings or the ones that already come with the salad that you've chosen, they put it all in a bowl and at the end of the line a friendly staff member takes it at of the bowl and chops it up or in this case dices it up! You can get your dressing tossed or on the side and they have a ton of dressings to choose from as well as some low cal options. You get your giant plastic bowl and you are on your way. The salad cost me about $11 so it's not super cheap but I'll pay for some healthy fast options especially a delicious salad. If I wasn't so hungry I could have easily made this two meals. I've gone here a few times since they opened. I was so excited to have a salad place by my job, but over the last few months, they've made some changes I'm not a huge fan of. First, they do have really great selections of salad toppings. I liked to build my own, and it was a good deal at $5.99 for a salad with 4 toppings. Now, they changed it to $4 plus .75 cents per topping, and a whopping $3 for tofu or chicken. I can go buy an entire block of tofu for $1.50! So you put 3-4 toppings on there, plus tofu or chicken, and now you're at $10. Not to mention if you want any cheese, now you're upwards of $11. This wouldn't be so bad if they hadn't also have decreased the size of the salads significantly. When they first opened, the bowls were nice and large, so you actually felt full after finishing. They are probably half the size now. The staff is great, the selection of ingredients is awesome, but I'm finding it to be more expensive for less food now than it used to be. I know they are probably making some adjustments based on customer feedback and based on how things have gone the last few months, and I hope they find a good happy medium and stick around! read more

I was visiting family in NC and they took me to a nice salad shop near their house. Diced is in a shopping center in Cary. I had the BBQ Chop salad with chicken. All of the ingredients seemed very fresh and the chicken had just the right flavor to it. I really loved the fried onions, they gave the salad a nice crunch to it. I also loved the BBQ sauce, just the right amount of sweet and spice. They told me that they make the dressings on site which is really impressive. My only negative is that they are in North Carolina and I live in Virginia. Oh well I will just have to visit my relatives more often. read more

For what you get, it's extremely pricey - a thai salad with shrimp cost me just over $12. Their salads seem reasonable at first (approx. $8) but that is without any protein added to it. Went to Diced last night for dinner, and enjoyed it enough to want to go back again today for lunch. I'm really happy to have a place in the area to get a chopped salad. I had my first made-to-order chopped salad in NYC, and really like how it distributes the toppings and flavors throughout. It also makes for a LOT of salad in that bowl. My only gripe is that it's kind of pricey. A cobb salad with added sunflower seeds after tax and tip is about $13. (To be honest, I've never figured out if I really should be/need to be tipping at counter service places like this, but the register gives you a tip option I and get that momentary pang of guilt and usually throw on 10%) Oh, and another really really minor quibble ... I hate registers that have you sign with your finger tip. Not enough to keep me from going back though. ;-) read more
