Go to CVS, buy your own polish and do your own nails instead! First of all, I came in for a simple $14 manicure. I told the lady, Sue, to just paint over my gel nails, yet she ignored me and removed them. She was very rough and made my nails hurt by scraping, rather than soaking them. Then their "OPI" nail polish was clumpy and so she put some sort of additive to help the consistency because it was smeary, full of lint and had bubbles all over my nails. When I told her I was not happy with them, she got up, cursed in Vietnamese and had another young girl finish the job. When it was time to pay, she said $19 b/c of the $5 extra charge of removing the gel nails, which I did not want to be removed in the first place! Also, they have a $20 minimum to use your credit card and had the audacity to ask me if I had cash for the tip! I will NEVER EVER come back here again. read more

I was dying for a pedicure and had been wanting to try this place because of the great location. The nail tech seemed bored and inexperienced. I was very disappointed that she did not pay any attention to my cuticles or areas of dry skin. The polish was messy and I had to clean it after I left. Pedi only lasted 3 days. The worst part of the entire visit was when I watched the owner pick up discarded flip flops from the trash and put them in the "new" pile. Sick!!! I went to get a gel fill today, however there was only 1 person there who was able to do it. He just said can you come back in an hour. I went here for a mani and pedi before a wedding. They were very nice and I was helped immediately. The pedi was very good, and still looks great 1 1/2 weeks later. The mani was not as great - it was fine and did not chip till a couple days later, which is fine, I don't baby my nails or anything. But it was a few days later that it became obvious it wasn't a very clean cuticle clean up. Sort of rough edges, not neatly clipped clean, something I could probably pull off. But if I'm going to a nail salon, I want a litte more attention to detail. The price was great, only $35, and the mani and pedi served their purpose. The PRICE is excellent for the DMV. (coming from California, I cannot believe the high prices of manicure & pedicure here). $35 for both. Today was my first experience, and I will for sure be back. This is a small but easily accessible shop. The clerks are very friendly, and helpful. No one tries to make small talk while you are trying to relax in the spa chair. Another great aspect of this place is that the spa chairs are not mounted high upon a large platform. This can be challenging for ppl that have mobility issues. The spa chairs are flat on the floor and easily transferable (arm rest flips outward). There is a good selection of OPI colors, and today I even splurged for the shellac on my hands ($35). I was a regular at this place but this last experience will not have me coming back. The SNS dip nails were good but the pedicure woman painted my nails the wrong color, she redid it but then at the end messed up the bill and didn't acknowledge her mistake of overcharging for the pedicure by 2$, and overall left me feeling duped. She stood over my shoulder while I payed on Venmo and encouraged me to write 'hi' in the payment instead of pedicure which was sketchy. Do not go here! I usually go to DC to get my nails done but didn't feel like taking the drive. 1) this place should be shut down--they do not use sanitized utensils. I literally saw one of the techs use a scrapper on someone's feet and put it right back in the case. 2) I'm pretty sure they dilute the nail polish and lotion. The lotion was literally as thin as milk. For an area like shirlington you would think this salon would be on brand but it's probably the worst nail salons I've been to including those in the mall. This is my go-to nail salon when I want the job done quickly. Their nail technicians are above average and do a great job in their pedicures and manicures. I'm not one for acrylics; however, they have a number of colors to choose from if you prefer gel/shellac. I never had a problem with chipping when I get a gel/shellac manicure. Love this place! I've been having problems finding a new nail place for the longest. I wasn't quiet sure about this salon because of some of the reviews but I decided to give it a try and I'm very happy I did. I went early Monday around 11. It wasn't busy so I was helped very quickly. I wanted to get full set acrylics but I wasn't quite sure what color I wanted. I looked at there selection, I think they could get a little more polishes but I have a lot of my own nail polishes that I might take for my next color. the girl sitting by the polishes was very helpful when it came to helping me find a soft pink color. I had two different nail techs work on me, the first one did the basic putting on the nails and the second one did the paint. over all I'm supper happy with my nails and I will be going back! read more

I recently went in to get service. They did a pretty good job for fast service. The customer service could be improved in terms how the owner Diana addresses others. However the day I went I was the only African American in the shop I noticed i was also the only one asked to pay BEFORE services were rendered. The technician said it was because my nails will be wet but I watched countless Caucasian women pay for their service at the END of their service with the same nail service and wet nails waiting to dry. The technician & owner was not discreet about how much i was paying and hollering out how much it will be and hollering if I wanted to leave a tip. So rude and unprofessional. They basically made me feel that they believed African Americans wont pay...it was so uncomfortable that other customers were looking uneasy. As a person who is private and really laid back something made me uneasy in this environment. At the end of my service, i felt rushed as if my presence was bad for business of course this was done after payment and TIP of course! I love upscale nail salons and pay well and tip well, so they actually judged incorrectly. We are living in a diverse world and they are in the wrong time and location to still be exercising unspoken discrimination and racism. I usually let things go but it was rude and blatant. They should take heed to who's watching, and customer service is an Art that has to be practiced and mastered for a business to succeed. I don't know what the naysayers are talking about. It was lovely. What a nail salon should be. The efficiency of the corner Asian nail factory, but with the style and vibe of nicer spa/salon. My regular pedi has lasted over 4 weeks, was done very well and it felt like a SPA pedi, the chairs were wonderful. I tried all of the massage settings and did not want to get up. Mani, not so much. As with most "nail" salons, they seem better suited to false nails and need to be more pampering of those of us with real nails. Within a week my nails started to split from filing. My own fault, I know better. The price was very reasonable. I will be going back regularly, but will not have them file my nails. One note to owner, don't let anyone talk on their cell phone. DON'T GET WAXED HERE EVER!!!!! I'm not sure what happened to my last review I left here but somehow it got deleted and it is IMPORTANT that this is here. I went in a couple months ago to get a gel manicure with a gift card I received. After awkwardly sitting through a manicure at a high top bar area (instead of at an actual nail station...) I still had extra money on my card and decided to get an armpit wax and pay the difference. That's where the real trouble began. First, the salon worker (NOT a certified esthetician) criticized me on the hair on my armpits (a huge no-no); second, she did not clean or wipe off my armpits at all - she just threw scolding hot wax onto my armpits - burning them and ripping the skin off, it hurt so bad that I could not finish the appointment and left in tears. The waxing process is NOT SANITARY - they don't clean the skin and they DOUBLE-DIP the sticks - meaning you get whatever nasty was on the pits, legs, vajayjay, etc. of whoever was before you and before them all over you because they don't clean the skin and continuously double-dip the sticks. I am NOT a newbie waxer. My roommate is ACTUALLY and esthetician and I let her wax me all the time with no harm done. I cannot believe how much I was burned at Diana Nails - I had huge dark scars on my armpits for weeks (which is terrible because it's summer), the scars are just finally starting to fade. Typically when I pass by this salon, it smells fresh and fruity so I have been meaning to check it out. The results were a mixed bag. Pros: - Decent Parking - Inexpensive polish change - $7 - Quick service (this is a pro for me, for others it may be a con) - Nice sink with pretty towels Cons: - They attempted to use a worn file and a very worn /peeling buffer on my nails. I bring a backup file and buffer just in case, so I used my own tools. Relying on used tools seems to be a common practice among nail salons and I am not sure how this is legal. I am fine with getting a polish change here since they did not have to use any other equipment on my nails but I would not feel comfortable getting a manicure here and especially not a pedicure -- it did not seem sanitary enough. Granted, my go-to salon in Gaithersburg is squeaky clean so I have higher standards now. Most salons in the Arlington area are questionable with their sanitary procedures. - The staff was a bit snippy with me. Three of my nails were bubbly and I asked them to fix them and they told me it was my old top coat and/or bad brand of top coat that was causing the issue. The top coat is not old and the brand is Seche which is a well known and popular brand. None of my other nails bubbled up and this is the first time this has ever happened. - The salon is very small and packed. Other Notes: The great smell that I normally notice when walking by is the smell of the lotion. I barely noticed it this time but when the person next to me received a hand massage I noticed the scent - like a tangerine peach scent. Note: $20 minimum on credit cards. Tips are cash only. I will likely be back for a polish change because of the convenience and the low prices (at $7 for a polish change, I will never paint my own nails again). read more

***2.5 stars*** I cheated on my manicurist of two years last night and I have severe day-after guilt. My regular place is closed on Sundays & Mondays and Monday was my only free night this week. My hands and feet needed immediate attention. My overall experience at Diana Nails was okay. Pros: (1) My mani-pedi was completed in 40 minutes and I was under the dryers for 10-15 minutes. It was speedy and I was out of there in under an hour. Almost unheard of! (2) Welcoming, clean atmosphere. Tools are sterilized. (3) Most nights they are open until 8:30 and they are open on Sundays! (4) 8 spa pedicure chairs, 5 manicure stations and 6-8 seats at the dryer station - this place can handle a lot of clients at once and increases your chances of getting in as a walk-in Cons: (1) My mani-pedi was completed in 40 minutes. I didn't even think that was possible. My darling of a manicurist is meticulous to the nth degree and takes 30 minutes min. on my manis and 45-60 mins on my pedis. The technician here did a subpar job on nipping my cuticles - hangnails shouldn't surface the day after a manicure! She just rushed through the whole process. Two of the nails she filed were uneven which I didn't even notice until after I left because I just assumed they'd be even. She also painted way, way too close to the cuticle to the point where the polish has gathered at the edge of the nail. It just looks sloppy. Not worth the $35 and that isn't all that low of a price considering the poor quality of service. It may have been worth it if they were charging twenty-something dollars like previous reviewers had paid back a year ago. (2) Parking is a nuisance since the closest garage is the one shared with Harris Teeter, the Shirlington Library and a dozen or so other restaurants/retailers. The lot's a mess and I ended up just parking in one of those library patron only spots. If you're in Shirlington and need a speedy mani-pedi that's passable in quality, then Diana Nails is your place. If not, keep rocking those chipped nails for one more day and search for a better nail salon. read more

This was the most traumatic salon experience of my life. I wanted to go for a mani/pedi with my friend on a Saturday afternoon, which I know is a busy day, but was excited to find somewhere that accepted walk-ins. The wait was not too bad, but things started off badly after I got a scowl from the manicurist when I asked to sit next to my friend while we got our manis/pedis. The whole time the women who were doing our pedicures were gossipping and laughing about customers and barely said "hi". The service felt like a rushed transaction rather than a relaxing experience. In fact, I've never had a quicker manicure and pedicure in my entire life. After my feet had been quickly scraped and polished, I received the worst manicure ever. My nails were cut and filed UNEVENLY and polish was missing on a few parts of my nails. When I asked the manicurist if she could fix this, she scowled again at me and screamed out something to her coworkers in the salon that I couldn't understand. They all started laughing. Sooo...I sit down and wait for my nails to dry even though there was no nail dryer. Apparently you have to ask to have your nails sprayed by the fast-drier, and at this point I was too afraid of these mean manicurists to ask anything of them. I had been waiting more than ten minutes for my nails to dry and honestly thought they were good to go, so I reached for my keys and the polish on one of my nails scratched. Normally it is not a big deal to fix a nail mishap like this and I was not going to leave the nail salon with messed up nails, so I asked my manicurist if she could fix it, even though she was already seeing about four people at this point. At this point, she literally screamed (again, but louder) to everyone that my nail was messed up. Seriously? It was the most humiliating, awful experience of my life. I will never return here and urge others to do the same. Maybe with less business, they will realize that customer service actually matters and a low price is not always worth a service. read more

Absolute worst customer service. Living in Shirlington Village I was really hoping the other reviews were wrong - nope, it really is the worst. The good: - Was able to pop in with a girlfriend for a manicure without appointment. - Pricing is reasonable The bad: -High CC requirement. You can't JUST get a manicure and use your Visa...you'll have to add another service. Clever work nail salon, clever work. -Horrible manicure. I mean, chipped within a half hour, horrible. And no, I wasn't operating heavy machinery. -I called immediately to complain that my manicure (it was a Friday) wouldn't even last till my event the next night (Sat) but that I was already on my way out of town to get there. I had to remove the manicure (or what was left) bc it looked like a hot mess. I asked when I called to complain to have them redone upon my return, as I had another event to go to the following Saturday. When I requested to have them redone on Friday (as my first appt was done on a Friday), the answer was a flat NO. No negotiations. Get your nails done on a random week day or not at all. I chose not at all...and won't ever be going back. -It seems like they're talking badly about you while you're there. After a friend suggested this place, I tried it out. Needless to say I was not pleased at all! I have gel overlay (not shellac) and that was the worlds fastest fill. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate quick service, but this was just plain sloppy. The chick filed all on my cuticles without so much as a "sorry" hell, I would have settled for an "oops" but didn't get that either. She just kept right on chatting with her buddy. And the "gel" I'm pretty sure it was acrylic,but it wasn't even worth the argument that I'm sure would have ensued if I questioned her. My nails were polished horribly. Meaning the polish was applied unevenly. But this is the best part, I get home, and they wrinkle :\ So I go back the following day to get them fixed and I could tell little miss had an attitude. I was getting my hair done at one of the Shirlington salons and decided to try Diana's Nails for an eyebrow waxing. Worst decision of my so-far pleasant weekend! The receptionist in the packed salon screamed at me "what you want done girly" when I walked in. When I told her "eyebrows", she said "wait one minute." Another woman then said, "Why you waiting in the door, MOVE!" When I responded that I was waiting for waxing service, she pointed to a dirty little room in the back. When I walked in, everything was GROSS. The towel had not been changed, and the head rest had an oily tissue paper, ANOTHER GROSS! As I was deciding if I should run out of there, an older woman came in and said "Get on the chair, girly" Seriously being called "girly" twice in 5 minutes when I am over 30 is a bit unheard of. As the older woman began to work on my brows, she told me that I do not take care of them properly. "Been a while to clean, no??" Ok, I am paying for your service, not for harsh advice. Not only did she do a rush job with the wax, but she pressed into my eyes, practically pulled out my earrings, put wax strips on my shirt, and did not use lotion after the wax service. Moreover, she kept reaching across my stomach to get supplies and also kept moving my face at the chin, which was highly awkward and uncomfortable. I am relatively small, but this could have been avoided had she walked around to the other side, as most professionals would have done. As if this experience was not worse enough, the cashier would not let me pay with a debit card and I had to use their ATM machine, which charges a fee of $1!! When I paid, the she gave me singles in change and practically forced me to give the other awful woman a tip. I said "I think not, your service is terrible" and walked out. I typically go to another place in North Arlington, but my favorite nail lady is away, so I decided to give this place a second chance (my first experience was not great). The lady who did my mani/pedi was nice, professional, and the salon was clean, so no complaints on that end, but my nails are completely chipped after only two days. I went into this nail salon and had a horrible experience. I had gotten a pedicure earlier (at another salon) and smudged the polish on my two big toes. I went into the salon and asked if I could get the polish fixed on my two toes. The nail technician asked me to pick a color and I went through and found the matching color. She sat me in the pedicure chair and put my feet in the water. I told her again that all I wanted was to get the polish fixed. Nothing else. Then she took the polish off of all my toes - so I told her again that all I wanted was a polish change - and she said ok. She started to file my nails - which did not need it because I had just had a pedicure in the morning. I told her again that I did not need a pedicure and all I needed was to get the polish fixed. She said ok and kept going. She got out the nippers and continued - she asked me if I wanted the razor - I told her again that I wanted only a polish change - and I didn't want the razor. I had just been running so all I had was a $20 on me so I gave her the $20 and told her all I brought with me was cash and I wanted to make sure this would cover it - and she told me I owed "$5 dolla more" so I told her I did not get a pedicure and all I wanted was a polish change and I only had $20. She started to say very loudly that I owed her "$5 dolla more - pedicure $25" then she started speaking to the other techs in the salon and I assume telling them I didn't have enough money. They all proceeded to talk about me like I wasn't there and she said you owe me "$5 dolla more" They were not speaking English. Either she didn't speak any English at all or she blatantly ignored the numerous times I told her to just change the polish. I then asked the other technicians if they could help me and explain to her what I was trying to say and they all looked at me and said that they didn't understand. Other people in the salon were staring at me and the kind woman next to me couldn't believe what was going on because she heard me say several times that all I wanted was a polish change - she gave me the $5. I told her I wanted to get her email address so I could contact her in order to pay her back. So I asked the nail technician if I could have a piece of paper and a pen - she told me "No receipt - you pay cash" then one of the other technicians gave me a pieve of paper. Yes - one of the ones that "didn't understand what I had said earlier when I asked for help. While I was drying from the "pedicure" if that is what you would call it - two of the other technicians walked out and mouthed to me that they were sorry about what happened. UNBELIEVABLE. First of all - I own a nail salon in another state and if my employees ever embarrased a client like that, ignored their wishes, and tried to pass off a pathetic 15 minute "pedicure" like that I would fire them on the spot. I will never go into this salon again. In addition to this experience when I visited the salon in the past the treatments were poor, the polish chipped and it isn't clean. I only went in because I needed to get the two toes fixed. I plan to call the owner tomorrow and let her know about my experience - I wonder if she will understand what I am saying. I have gone to Anh to get waxed on my face and she was great however, I have gone twice to get my eyebrows done with other women there and it was AWFUL/TERRIBLE/THE WORST JOB EVER! I know people read reviews and do not believe them but, they are written for a good reason. My eyebrows were basically ripped not once, but twice and they were not even cleaned up. I ended up going to the person I originally go to, to fix them 20 minutes after this place ruined them. I am one of those people with perfect eyebrows and this place has ruined them twice. When you tell them to not do the same thing as the last time they say okay but they do a worse job. If you want amazing eyebrows go to Nelo at Georgetown Rejuvenation. All the previous reviews regarding the nail services are accurate, this place rushes, it is dirty and they do a horrible job with cuticles. Disappointing experience. Had a spa pedicure. This meant I paid extra for what was supposed to be a more luxurious experience. The massage chair was creaky and didn't really work. The "spa" service meant they used a scrub on the buffer on my feet and also on my legs, and tried to give a leg message. I say "tried" because the person doing the pedicure really just rubbed my legs with the scrub and then rinsed them. Staff was actually rude to a customer. The nail tech was very nice and friendly and talked me into a deluxe pedicure she gave a really nice massage. The issue I have is that my toes are uneven and the nail polish on my skin. She did use acetone to get some of it off when I asked her but I most likely won't be return. Overall the place is clean, organized and the staff is friendly but the service is just okay. Horrific. The manicure lasted 24 hours before THREE nails had chipped. The male nail tech did a half a$$ job filing so I had to ask them to fix it. He also was painting my nails at the same time as another customer so it was one of my hands, one of hers, and so forth. The pedicure was ok until I got home and realized that the lady didn't clean the polish off my skin so I had to finish the job myself. Love it...I got married in November and would like to take 8 of my bridemaids for a spa treatment...at first I was hestitate to make my appointment with Diana Nails since the place is always busy according to other reviewer....but my BF recommended this salon. We love it...the place is really nice and modern...Twee did a great job on our french gels tips..they looked so real...she is truthly an artist because i had my gels nails done at other place..the nails look bulky but Twee manages to make our nails look so real....they have 6 pedicure chairs...so 6 of my us can have our pedicure done at the same time and plenty of Kodak pictures for our Facebook....For those bridemaids that don't need gel tips...they had the bar manicures instead...very interesting...they seat at the bar...very metro and modern...The service is excellent and friendly... As for a surprise....my bridemaid paid for my facial and eyelashes extention...wow... The facial treatment is great...give my skin the glow I need before my wedding...they used shesido product...which is really surprising because this product is used in most expensive spa in Asia. Recommended eyelashes extention: take about 1 to 2 hours to completed but let's me tell you..worth every penny...it's look real...feel real...not heavy..and the best is ..during my wedding..after so much happy tears...they still stay on...and last for 4 weeks... My overall experience was superb...and now I'm a regular client...come back every two weeks for my gels refill and eyelashes refill...and my pedicure every 4 weeks because the OPI color last really long. read more

I just moved out to Shirlington Village from California and had only gone to a certain girl for the past 11 years at a high end salon that provided every service under the sun! I read the reviews and some were great and some not so great, I decided to go in and had a full set, pedi and eyebrows, WOW was I impressed!! Twee did my hands and toes she ROCKS!! My sister had another one of the girls work on her and she was really impressed as well. It just goes to show you, sometimes its better to try yourself and then judge..the salon is super clean and everyone is very friendly. read more
