She was patient and thorough, and the gel nails lasted well over two weeks, which is a record for me. I'd also like to mention Julie, who worked on my SNS manicure. Julie was also very thorough and did a wonderful job. At the end, I also asked for an eyebrow and lip wax, and Julie did a great job on that as well. Came in for a basic gel mani and pedi with some adds. Overall giving a three as an average. The pedicure I got was very nice and had a lot of extras which were relaxing. I'd give that a 5 star experience. The mani however, I'd giving 1 star. I got my nails done less than a week ago. Within 4-5 days they are already lifting / chipping on 4 nails (two pictured for reference, other nails the bottom is lifting and gets stuck anytime I run my nails through my hair. This is not the quality of application I expect at the price point or just generally at a salon. They also charge extra to use the magnet for the cat eye which feels very nickel and dimed to me. Maybe it was just the tech I had but was overall really disappointed in the mani. I wouldn't recommend. read more

I absolutely loved my nails for the civil ceremony. I had a broken nail, but they used nail glue to fix it and were still able to do the manicure. I had a full manicure gel procedure done while my friend had a pedicure and polish manicure done. For my manicure color, I selected a light orange base with a glossy irredescent sheen to match my ivory dress. The nail tech was really sweet and friendly and my friend and I were in and out in about an hour. They provided some tea for my friend while she was waiting for me to finish. I am honestly disappointed, and not sure I will be coming back. I have come here quite a few times since moving to the area, and I have overall been happy, but not so much this time. I tend to swap between here, and my salon at home when I am visiting my family. I was home last weekend, and got my nails done. Two happened to break down the middle, so I came here to just get two nails redone. The lady doing my nails was very sweet. She accidentally made 1 out of the 2 nails very short and i told her not to worry about it, since i felt bad about her restarting. I also did not know the exact color I had on from the other salon so i said any close color works fine with me. She told me at the end it would be $30 since she filed some of my other nails and did a few coats over them (i did not ask for this), i said $30 was a little more than i was hoping but that was fine. When i went to check out she put $50 on the screen. $50 for two nails is almost as much as an entire set. I said i did not feel comfortable paying that, and if filing nails counts a manicure I wish it would have been stated prior. She took it back down to $30 but the entire experience made me feel upset as I am not someone to ever contest a price when paying since I know a lot of hard work goes into this, but that much for two nails seems like a lot. I have gone to other nail salons to get broken nails fixed even if it was not from that salon and have never been charged this much. read more

It's been 7 years now and I'm still a fan of Aura Day Spa right off Wilson blvd near VA sq metro. They have been consistently doing my SNS nails and spa pedis and I have never been disappointed with their services. I think you can't go wrong with any of their technicians, but I am a loyalist to Tiffany! Tina is also amazing too! I'm a regular here and they know exactly my go-to services. I always do SNS mani and a spa earth pedi (may consider green tea) because I love the clay mask, paraffin, and callus removal add-on. This time, I wanted to go with SNS and cateye tip gel overlay- so fun! I've been to other nail salons in the area, but I am always happy with Aura Day Spa. They are so nice and professional. I walked out crying. They cut of my regrowing nail after/while I was telling them not to. I know it's silly but Ive been regrowing my nail for two years after injury and I had enough babynail I was excited to finally have a cute pedicures. Before we got started i explained and said I wanted the nail left. The she CUT/SHAVED it while I was saying "NO!" and trying to jerk my foot away. AND she shaved more of the good nail. I have a gift card that is a few years old, with the receipt. No where on the gift card does it say how long I have to use it, but they say their system can no longer run it. I understood that before I had teh receipt, since they would have no way of knowing how much is on there, but I found the receipt so the value is now known. I spoke to 2 different people who said they would get back to me, and now are being completely non-responsive. This a $100 a friend spent that is now not being honored. That is a significant amount of money to now be worthless. This is very disappointing, and I expect businesses to honor gift cards that to not have an expiration date listed. read more

I hardly ever get my nails done but decided to do it for a wedding. I went on a Tuesday around 2pm. The shop looks very nice and was super clean. There was no wait and the guy who did my nails was friendly. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. The reason for the low score is because of the quality of work. It was $42 for a gel manicure. (They give 5% off if you pay with cash). By noon the next day the polish was already peeling and chipping. I'm guessing the polish is old because in the past my nails never chipped this quickly. I have moved several time since then and will continue going back because of their meticulous service, clean hygienic facility and the best customer service. I always get compliments on my nails after a service. The location is great, free street parking and most importantly they are very accommodating. That evening after the salon had closed, the polish started peeling off in big strips. I had an early morning flight the next day so could not get it repaired. When I returned, I went to the salon for another mani. I explained what had happened and the manicurist never apologized. She said the peeling happened because I had not had a gel mani in a while and also because I do not get my cuticles cut. She said I should have returned the next day. I asked to have my new manI comped and she said she needed to talk with her manager. I called three times and was never able to talk with the manager. Finally, I was told by a woman who answered the phone that they would not reimburse me because they had not even seen photos of my mani. I told her I had photos and she didn't seem to care. I would suggest asking for a regular tech, avoid the owner or manager(?) at all costs. Terrible customer service, I was there recently and one of the ladies, not my normal nail person, was wrapping my nails with acetone and it dripped down my hand on to my very expensive purse. The owner showed no empathy for the damage caused, little to no apology. I was told I would receive a txt, never did. The owner took no regard for problem caused by their employee. I have been going to this salon for several years on an every two weeks basis but have been treated in such a poorly manner. I've been here a few times but today I had a bad experience and won't be returning. I booked an appointment a week in advance and arrived early, but had to wait 20 minutes before someone started on my pedicure. Why book an appointment if the nail techs aren't available to honor the time? The pedicure was fine, although it felt a bit rushed. The gel manicure was a nightmare. I showed a simple abstract design for the gel manicure and they said they could do it. My cuticles were bleeding after they buffed my nails. And the result looks like a child tried to paint the design. It is nothing like what I asked for in the photos -- I interrupted a few times to point to the photo and kindly ask for it to resemble the design. Nope. Looks tacky and unprofessional. I literally went home and tried to re-do the design on my hands, because of how embarrassed I am by the result. Normally, the pedicure is $33 and the gel manicure is $40. They charged me $98. $98 for a terrible design and ok pedicure. $25 in extra charges for a nail design, that I had to go home and fix? I wanted these nails to look beautiful for my upcoming vacation to Costa Rica. I'm severely disappointed. With the unadvertised fees and bad results, I won't be returning. read more

Usually get short almond shape tips with dip. This time I got chrome on top which I thought was super cool and I've never tried before. One thing I thought was odd though was that chrome on dip powder was 20$ extra and on gel it was only 10$ extra. Easily the widest color selection I've seen before! - They offer drinks - water, coke products, and hot tea (Ginger or Green Tea). - A complimentary hand/foot and shoulder massage comes with all services. - Consistently good service! By far the worst nail salon service I've ever received in the Virginia area. I came in March 1st, and Cindy created an uncomfortable environment for me, made me feel pressured to get a service I did not want. After leaving I called and made a complaint and was contacted via phone. T felt bad and even offered for me to come in the next day to get serviced by another nail technician that can provide acrylic services and I agreed to come in. Saturday March 2nd, I receive a call from Cindy herself posing to be a manager from the salon. She stated she wanted to hear about my experience and as I began sharing it with her she interrupted me and said "I never did that" so at that point i asked and confirmed I was speaking with Cindy and felt extremely uncomfortable. So I hung up because she was calling to defend her actions and not actually apologize for how she made me feel and that the service was not done correctly. I requested to speak with a manager or owner and was given a call back by Tina (the manager), she did listen to my concern but only offered to take my nails off, no refund, and refused to re-do the services, which is upsetting because that is the original resolution that was presented. After trying several different nail salons in Arlington, I have settled on Aura Day Spa. Pros: - They have the biggest selection of SNS polish I have ever seen. - Plenty of complementary drink options. - Essentially every nail tech I've tried has above average skills. - They make appointments and are generally on time. Cons: - I ALWAYS feel rushed. ALWAYS. Now let me be clear, I am an easy customer. I generally don't get the full manicure (water bath for your hands/cuticle cut), and will opt out of any excessive touching (hand/neck/back massage they offer). Literally all I ask for is that you don't rush through my manicure and let me preview multiple colors (they will dip the plastic tips in the SNS powder so you can see what the color will actually look like). I have yet to find a nail tech who will accommodate these simple pleasures. It's literally taken me months of visits to find a color that I think I really like because I always feel like my tech is itching to get started and put out by having to sample colors for me. I mean Jesus Christ, what is the problem?!!! And then there's the constant rushing I make an appointment for a reason. Is it so hard to have an hour of undivided attention? And I mean I'm talking one time my tech forgot to put on the base powder because apparently there was a race to get me out of there. I stopped in for a quick gel manicure on Friday evening after calling to check how busy they were. When I called, I was told there were two spaces at their "nail bar" open but those would be first come first serve unless I wanted to make a reservation. I elected to not, but nice to hear they take them! Seemed that several people on the sign in sheet make reservations: Particularly those who have a specific technician they see regularly. I walked in a bit later and there was immediately a space for me, but at the time it looked like I got the last one. The nail stations are set up like a bar, with all the technicians sitting in the inside facing out. The salon has tons and tons of colors! They have regular polish, gel -Essie, opi and more, and SNS. Several people were getting that treatment when I was in. The manicure itself was good. My technician, Nikki, was very friendly and spoke with me during my manicure. She was also able to find my color by the name - I always try to remember the names of colors I've had and liked. After sitting for a bit, I was offered tea or soda. It was a nice gesture and most patrons take them up on it. After my manicure, which Nikki was impeccable in giving, I was offered a brief neck massage. Not too much, but enjoyable. I was in and out in a pretty quick amount of time, but didn't feel like I was rushed. They close at 7:30pm on Friday so ample time after work to get in and get fixed up for the weekend. The manicure was $40, although looks like they have a discount to check in before. Bring cash!!! As most places they want cash tips - they don't give you the option to tip on card, so bring cash or use their atm in salon. read more

I've been getting my nails done (only SNS) at Aura for over a year now - Shoutout to my nail technician, Z (I love her!)! I live in Fairfax and work in Arlington, and I will go out of my way to go to Aura even on a day off or a work from home day (~30 minute drive from my place) because I know I will feel like a QUEEN during and after my visit to Aura. This says a lot because I RARELY go out of my way to drive places, especially on a day off or work from home day, hah! Trust me when I say, it's worth every minute and penny you spend! Checked this place out on my lunch break for a gel mani because it was (kind of?) by my office. Service was prompt, polite and Nina paid great attention to detail. She was also respectful and considerate of the fact that I kind of needed it done fast because I had to go back to work. I felt awful because I forgot to ask if they take tips in cash, and they don't. No ATM nearby. They seemed to be understanding though, and I plan to return on Saturday with the tip, I promise. Pedicure- def cut my foot so deep that I have a piece of skin hanging off and my skin is so tender underneath. Yes, was cut that deep. A few bleed when removing cuticles. Manicure- I asked for a square shape and didn't get that. Additionally, during that, I was made to bleed three times. I had to ask for the shoulder massage. The wax was the only good part.
